This is a foody's dream-seriously. Omnomtacular. Rich delicious blackberry jam and a buttery scones-someone mentioned the starbucks scones, and I can definitely see that. It is definitely similar to MB:Closet, but instead of the cocoa-y red velvet note, it's the buttery white crumbly scone note. The blackberry is definitely the dominant notes...it's probably 75/25 in terms of proportions. Basically, if you like the idea of blackberry jam and scones perfume, you should try to get a hold of this!

I love this blend-I loved it from first sniff. It is absolutely gorgeous. And I say this as someone who didn't like the final version and didn't purchase it. The final blend of Hua Mulan had that leather note that just always goes ashtray on me. I do not smell that in this blend at all-not in the wet bottle scent, on my skin, or when it fully dries down. To me, this is probably one of the best bpal jasmine scents ever. I love jasmine, but have found it to be overwhelming in most bpal blends. This is just perfect, soft and sweet and fluttery and lovely. Really, I feel like I get whiffs of all of the other notes listed in the final version, except for the leather. Pink musk, ginger, tea...this is just so lovely. I can definitely see why Beth would not have chosen this blend as the final version-the leather did give it that badass Warrior Queen edge that this blend lacks. This is far more pretty and feminine and delicate. I am so glad I have a bottle!

Very pretty in the imp-I love the cassia in this-it's like a spiced woody/lotus/wisteria blend. Oh my god, this is sooo gorgeous...I remember totally not being into this when I sniffed it at will call all that time ago, but I am so digging it now-the cassia is just so beautiful-just the right amount-not too overwhelming...I do get that feeling of a breeze running through the blend...now, as it really dries down the lotus comes out, and unfortunately I'm just not that huge of a fan...it tends to go a little weird on me. It gets a bit more and more sour as it dries down. Yeah, the oddness of lotus on my skin really killed this for me-don't get me wrong, it is super gorgeous and well blended, but my blasted skin chemistry just messed it up!

Very pretty in the imp-basically just as described-juicy red pomegranate and delicate rose. Rose is always hit or miss with me, so we shall see how this goes on my skin. On my skin, the rose is definitely coming to the forefront...I would have liked more of that red pomegranate smell, but the rose isn't letting up in dominance. This blend dries down and starts fading super fast-it is a very light rose scent (the rose is well behaved!) with a whisper of tartness and juiciness from the fruit. Very soft and pretty. I wouldn't need a bottle of this-a bit too light for my tastes, but this is a lovely delicate rose blend!

Very deep indeed-deep dark opium incense in the imp-I actually think this could maybe be a neat room spray, but I am not sure I want to smell this dour personally! Yep, very dark black incensey/opium/floral scent. This actually dries down to be rather lovely-less doom and gloom, and more dark, mysterious and sexy! Like a sexy evil fortune teller dressed in swishy black clothes. This isn't really a "me" scent, so I can't see myself picking up a bottle, but for what it is, it is very beautiful! I still think it would make a gorgeous room spray!

Whoa-very sharp in the imp-a bit hard to describe-I definitely get the rosemary in there, though thankfully it's not reminding me of seasoning-definitely also get the rose, and the sharp combination of lemon peel and mint. Maybe a hint of grape? I think the lemon peel is my favorite part of this-hopefully it will temper the rose! Hm...I kinda like this on my skin-moreso than I was expecting-it's sort of a grapey-rose scent...with lemon peel giving it some zing and freshening it up! On full drydown, I will call this the most sophisticated grape scent imaginable! A lot of the other notes fade into the background (especially the lemon peel and mint). The rose isn't ZOMG rose-y, so if you are a rose love you may be disappointed it's not more noticeable, and if you hate rose, you shouldn't be scared off from this blend. Overall it's sort of a grapey floral scent, but not in a candy or synthetic way. Not something I would need a bottle of, but definitely an interesting blend to try!

Oh, this blend is just breaking my heart. I sniffed it at the trunk show and knew I had to have it-it is a sweet, musky citrus scent-smooth lemony, orangey musk, with maybe a hint of melon in it! Soo lovely! The only thing that is killing me is that it has almost NO throw. I have to shove my face right up into my wrist to smell it at all, and I like my scents to be more wafty. Beyond that, my skin swallows up most of it really fast and I end up with sweet lemony powder-it's not as rich and complex as it is sniffing it from the bottle. I guess I could try scent locketing it, but it bothers me when I can't just wear scents straight up on my skin ]: Will probably swap this for some other proto I missed out on that will be better on my skin-this is such an amazing blend, I'm just sorry it didn't work for me!

Sniffing this from the bottle, I get a lot of the same notes the reviewer above me did-this is a rich cakey scent to me, with a bit of citrus and spices. Kind of reminds me of a deeper, richer Huesos De Santos, with the orange and anise. Ok, I sniffed it side by side Huesos, and they are definitely similar, but definitely not the same. Huesos is more zingy orange, and PX117 is more rich cake and spices. Delicious!

Oh-pretty! Soft vanilla mandarin in the imp, with an undertone of sandalwood! The opium and lily are soft and barely there. The opium comes out a lot more on my skin. All of the notes really pop out once this is on my skin, in a way it definitely didn't in the imp. There's also something about this blend that reminds me of the scent I get when I open my box with all my bpal Kind of an amalgamation of different bpals...familiar yet unique. Then sometimes when I sniff it, a different part of the blend will pop out at me-sometimes vanilla, sometimes mandarin, sometimes opium, sometimes sandalwood...ahhh! On absolute full drydown, this is a soft vanilla sandalwood scent. This isn't a scent I would need to buy, but I do think there is something special about this one and I am very glad I tested it!

Ok, I have a love/hate relationship with this polish. What I love: THE COLOR! This is absolutely a gorgeous polish in terms of color. It is beautiful and unique-I've never seen anything like it-soft beigy pink with insane pearly sheen-I will try to swatch it at some point. In the sunlight, it just magnificent. It is very sheer though, so more than one coat is necessary...this leads to what I hate... What I hate: THE APPLICATION! UGH. I think this is the most frustrating polish I have ever used. It.Never.Dries. I have applied this many times, each time hoping for better results, but the formula is just such a pain in the ass. As I said earlier, to make this look good, you need at least 2-3 coats, but no matter how thin I make the coats, I can never get it to fully dry so I end up with smudges and dents. I haven't had this problem with any of the creme bptp polishes, just this one...makes me wary of trying the other shimmers. In conclusion, love the color, hate the formula. If you are a patient person, give it a go!

Oh wow, this is really pretty-rich resinous flowers and dark fruits-a bit sweet, but not sugary sweet and with a smattering of spices. I really don't know how to describe this very well-it reminds me a bit of Lune Noire for some reason, though they have nothing in common A rich, dark fruity floral with a Southwestern flair. Absolutely gorgeous! Yep, for some reason this to me is like a Southwestern Lune Noire. Again, I don't know why my brain/nose is making that comparison, but it is. This is a really gorgeous blend-it's hard to review because it's hard to describe, but it is definitely something I could see myself grabbing a bottle of one day.

Ooo-I like this in the imp! Rich strawberry and cherry musk...a very red, swirling kind of scent-hopefully the amber won't turn this to straight pink powder on my skin! On my skin this is mostly black cherry and red musk-a very deep black/red kind of scent. I get the heliotrope too, which isn't one of my favorites. This is nice, but it's not really grabbing to me. As this is drying it is getting a bit powdery (amber tends to do this on my skin), but not horribly so. I would still say this is primarily a red musk/black cherry scent. On full drydown, this did get rather powdery. Not unbearably so, but enough to make the blend totally meh on my skin. I think on someone with the right chemistry, this could be a gorgeous, rich, robust musky red cherry scent, but if you turn amber to powder like I do, this just ain't gonna work ;_;
-
The red musk in this is REALLY strong-I also get a bit of the cassia and mango (yummeh!) and I definitely notice the woods in there...for some reason, in the imp at least, this combo reminds me of trident cinnamon gum...O_o weird...not just any cinnamon gum...only the trident kind... LOL, yep, trident cinnamon gum...it's so weird because I get little hints of most of the notes in this individually, but as a whole, I get the trident smell... On full drydown, a get a lot more of the wood, which pulls this further away from being the gum scent, but meh. It would always remind me of Trident gum, and I would rather be chewing it, not smelling like it!

This is a sharp rose kind of scent-I remember sniffing this back when it was released at will call and I remember a lot more hay in it then-don't sniff that much hay now. I'm not sure if the sharpness of this is from the gold note or the rose note. Well duh, that sharpness I was wondering about, that would be the TEARS in the tear-soaked straw *headdesk* That tear-soaked straw note comes out a lot more on my skin, but the forefront is still the rose infused amber-the amber keeps the rose from becoming sour. Note though, rose haters, you probably won't like this! You can't escape teh rose! Overall, this is a nice rose blend. It isn't the most unique of the rose blends, at least how it dried on my skin. Powdery amber/rose mostly, with a hint of straw and a teensy drop of sharp saltiness.

This has been on my wishlist forever, and I finally took the plunge and got a bottle before the CD went away. I'm so glad I did. This is sooo gorgeous-to me, this is grown up sexy caramel. The caramel note reminds me a bit of MVJBA: Spring Training, but not all sugary and butter and in your face. This is all growed up. Sexy rich caramel, whiffs of apple blossom, all sensual and creamy and so well blended! Do not regret this purchase one bit!

In the imp this is a resin-y incense with a hint of something buttery sweet. I saw other reviewers mentioning butterscotch and maple, and I totally smell where they are getting that-this is resiny, butterscotch incense Odd combo, but actually rather nice! A sort of foody smell that isn't really foody at all! Wow, this dries gorgeously...it's almost like a burnt sugar/creme brulee scent on my skin O_0 Delicious! Whoa...I can't stop sniffing my wrist...this blend is SUCH a surprise! Incense-y blends are almost never my bag, but this blend just works so well on me... Yep, this gets added to the bottle WANT list! As bizarre as this is, this is creme brulee on me. Delicious burnt sugar. Woohoo!

This is SOOO pretty in the imp! Sweet musky rose with a hint of spices. Super gorgeous and very delicate to my nose-doesn't really match my image of the character though! Rose doesn't always do well with my skin, but the musk totally keeps it in check here-as I said before this is mostly musk and sweet, almost candied rose-the spices are just baaarely there. I really think this is one of the most beautiful rose scents I have tried from bpal. Honestly...I want a bottle of this! I think it is the best rose scented bpal I have ever sniffed! If bpal rose is usually a bit much for you, but you like the smell and idea of rose, this is such a gorgeous blend! Soft sweet wafting rose with a dash of spice. I still don't think this reminds me of Othello in the least, but I'll take it anyways!!!

Sharp salty aquatic-a bit "dry" feeling. Both in the imp and on the skin. More of an airy aquatic than an ocean type aquatic. Very crisp, biting air. As this dries down completely I get an odd tangy metallic note...almost like...rust. I don't know where this coming from, but it smells like cologne and rust =/ Boo!
-
In the imp this is a mandarin/melon musky scent-very heavy on the white musk. Not as sweet or sugary as your typical melony scent. VERY musk heavy. Pretty in the imp, but I'm not sure how this will go on my skin. Oh yeah, WAY musky on the skin-while it does give it a glowy kind of quality, it's a bit TOO musky for me I think. I really start to lose the mandarin and melon. There is something about this that does remind of commercial perfume, as another reviewer said. I can't recognize which one...but there's definitely a familiar quality to this blend. Overall this is a nice musk blend, with hints of sweet light fruits-a bit more "traditional" than some other bpal perfumes. It did fade SUPER fast though-the fruits disappear very quickly and the entire blend starts disappearing shortly after, leaving me with a powdery amber scent. If you want it at its best, freshly applied and luminescent, you're probably going to have to reapply frequently.

When I first sniffed this at Will Call, I didn't know how to describe it in terms of scent-just in terms of image. Shimmering gold particles, almost holographic, in clean, flowing water. Now that I have a bottle and can apply and take some time to sniff, I think I can describe it a bit more clearly. This is a metallic/aquatic scent. I don't usually do well with aquatics, but this isn't a salty or seaweedy aquatic. This is probably the freshest, cleanest aquatic bpal I have ever tried. The kind of aquatic note I wanted Water Phoenix to be. Alongside this fresh water note is a slightly cologne-y metallic note-the shimmering offerings of gold if you will. If you are a fan of bpal metallics (like Torture Queen/Kataniya), this blend would be something you should atleast try to sniff! Overall, this is an amazing creation of Beth's-the scent matches the concept so perfectly!

On first sniff I knew this smelled familiar...I am almost positive the currant note in this is the same currant note in 'Spell of Amorous Love'! While the two have that currant note in common, they are very different blends-SoAL is a very flirty pink curranty blend and Tomoe is definitely RED. The red currant is the main note to me, both in the bottle and once this blend is on my skin. Second in line is the honey, with the rest of the notes there in varying lesser degrees. I barely get amber tbh (which is fine with me, it usually goes very powdery on me). I could use a little more pink pepper (one of my favorite notes). After a while's wear, it becomes a soft powdery (lolamber) sweet currant scent-very pretty. Overall, if you are a red currant fan or a fan of Spell of Amorous love, you need to try this blend. Rich sweet red currants and honey! And don't get me started on how excited I am to try out the Bath Oil!!!

Gawd, this smells so freaking gorgeous in the bottle. Rich cocoa and cinnamon-the maize note is so freakin cool too! Hard to describe, but undeniably a corn kind of note. Oh wow, on my skin the cinnamon comes out WAY more...like cinnamon bark sprinkled with cinnamon. Rich and spicy! With a dark, bittersweet cocoa note underneath. So effing beautiful! It really is cinnamon heavy though, so if you don't like cinnamon, this will probably not be your thing. I don't have skin sensitivities, but I'd be wary if you do. On full drydown this blend does lose a bit of its fire and ends up being rather similar to one of the 13 blends from '08, so it will be one you may want to reslather frequently-I know I will! I do lose some of the more complex herbs and the maize note, but this is just so unique when fresh, that I will have to hold onto my bottle!

Osmanthus, Damascus rose, violet, delphinium, white mint, palmarosa and white sandalwood. This is a bright, minty scent. Reminds me a bit of Lines Written, but more rosey/floral. Very pretty! A lovely mint scent! VERY reminiscent of Lines Written but instead of woods, with fresh flowers. The rose doesn't go wonky or sour here. The only bummer is that the lovely mint fades pretty fast and it's more of a soft, ozoney rose scent. I personally like Lines Written better, but I think this is a gorgeous sweet icy mint blend, especially if you want one with a bouquet of soft florals!

How did I forget to review this??? O_o There is something so interesting about this spray...I just don't know how to describe it properly. Beth really can do some crazy stuff with scent-Those who enjoy snow scents will love this-sweet powdery snow and juniper! Freshly fallen snow on winter trees (which aren't always a note I like)...when I first got this, I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not...but every time I spray it I grow to enjoy it more and more! And man, do I love that hint of sugar cookie! Yum! There is something so 'glittering' to this spray indeed! Lovely!

... Black Annis' perfume is a mixture of damp cave lichen and oak leaf with a hint of vetiver, civet and anise. This is mostly vetiver (boooooo!!!) with dark moss and a snap of black licorice. I do enjoy that licorice note (need moar anise blends!) but you have to really enjoy vetiver to enjoy this blend. The anise almost makes the vetiver bearable (I'm a tried and true vetiver hater ) Okay, this is actually probably my favorite of the vetiver blends I have tried. The rich dark greenery and AMAZINGLY gorgeous anise note (whoa god Black Licorice heaven) make this blend really lovely. It's not for me, but I Beth really created something wonderful-who would have thought vetiver and anise go together so damn well?
