In the imp this is sweet herbs and spices over a bouquet of flowers. It's hard to describe because there, probably because there are so many different notes-this is very well blended though. It doesn't feel like a mish-mash, it feels like a cohesive blend. On my skin it's BAM-Spicy cinnamon! Yum! This is a bright red cinnamon stick over a medley of herbs. Way better than I thought! Cinnamon haters be warned!!! This is a great blend-a way better spicy cinnamon than some of the other blends-less red hots (like Inferno) more rich spicy cinnamon stick! I kinda of lose all the other notes, but that's ok, i'm enjoying the rich cinnamon spice goodness. I don't think I will need to zomg run out and buy this blend ritenao, but I may have to grab a bottle one day.

I remember sniffing this at will call and thinking it was one of the most unique bpals i had had the pleasure to sniff. With bottle in hand, I remember why-pink pepper and cognac, with a touch of berry and caramel. Simply divine. I get almost no rose or balsam from this, but we shall see how it is on my skin. On my skin I do get the rose, but it's not the sour kind of way rose usually melds on my skin. Good God this is divine. Pink pepper lovers you HAVE to at least get a decant of this, the pink pepper is DIVINE. The caramel is sexy and subdued, not sugary super sweet, the rose is well behaved and sensuous, the cognac adds sofistication...this blend is just out of this world-one of the most unique and gorgeous bpal blends ever. I am going to give this some more time to settle, but the early stage is just divine. Now, the bad news. This fades SUPER fast. On FULL drydown, it does get a lot more woody (LOL) and loses that sharp striking uniqueness. It ends up being a soft, slightly spicy wood. So this would be one I'd need to probably locket or reslather this one-which is fine with me because those early stages are so epic. I do not regret this bottle at all!

I almost fell over when I saw the notes for this because they are ALL notes I love. I normally wait to read reviews or to test at Will Call before ordering, but this one I ordered immediately it just sounded so good! In the bottle, the strongest notes are the vanilla, passionfruit, and apple! Like their respective fruits with a dollop of sweet cream on top. Sweet, but not super sugary. On my skin the carnation and guava start to come out and I kind of lose the vanilla! Noo! Sort of turns into a dry green apple skin scent O_o Not as sweet and creamy as I would have hoped!! I am going to see how this dries, but right now it's sort of losing that bottle smell that was so delicious! It reminds me a bit of Snow.Glass.Apples or La Vita Nuova. Hrmph...this also fades SUPER fast so that all is left is a barely noticeable dry apple/guava scent with a hint of vanilla. Darn!! How could something that was all love notes turn out to be so incompatible with my skin *pout* I think I will hold onto this and try it again later, but right now it isn't something I would need to hold onto.

The description of this blend is enough to make a foody lover like me weak in the knees. I never thought I would be able get my hands on a blend, but I was so lucky to snatch a bottle at the DarkDel trunk show. It really is THAT good. I freakin love red velvet (hasn't helped my bf has been on a red velvet cupcake baking rampage lately). Red velvet is sort of a hard scent to pin down because it's not vanilla-y or super chocolately-chocolate. I cannot believe how well Beth really nailed that unique red velvet yumminess. And th bourbon blackberry buttercream...holy moly-just exquisite. Sweet without being saccharine, with the perfect amount of bourbon and blackberry make it such a unique addition to the cake. This blend is good enough to eat. True foody paradise!

I was super fortunate to grab a bottle of this at the Dark Del trunk show-I have been dying to try it forever. In the bottle this is sweet creamy vanilla with a hint of sugared fruits. Mmmm! This is what I was hoping Candy Phoenix would be like. On my skin the honeycomb comes out much more-yummy! There is a bit of a dustiness to this blend that keeps it from being sickly or cloying. Maybe a little bit of a plasticky note (for which I am going to blame the strawberry-it tends to do that) which will hopefully fade as the blend dries. Overall I am definitely in love with this blend and so grateful I had a chance to grab it when I did. Delicious vanilla and honey with sweet sugared fruits! This is *SO* a ME blend. I will cherish this bottle!

Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener
Suu4LC replied to flyingpizza's topic in Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia
Fizzy sassafras, vanilla, and herbs. Yummeh! I am a little worried of a plasticky note I notice in the imp, but I'm hoping I won't get that on my skin. Oh man, this is awesome! Like Love's Philosophy double the sassafras and half the vanilla. Sooo delicious and great throw! I can also tell this will be a blend that lasts. After giving this some time to settle I am confident in saying that this is an amazing blend. If you liked LP but want something with an even more supercharged Sassafras kick, this blend is for you. -
Based on the notes this normally wouldn't be a blend I would gravitate towards, but I got a sniff of this at WC and had to procure myself a decant to give it a full skin test. In the imp this is a musky, salty but muted aquatic. Bpal aquatics usually fail on me, but maybe this can be the exception? Darn, I don't think it will-it goes SO salty on my skin. Nose crinkling salty. Like a swallow of sea water mixed with musk. From far away it's kind of pretty, but up close it is far too strong. This faded VERY fast. In fact it almost entirely disappeared and is only noticeable if I shove my nose into my wrist. First it was too strong, now it's all gone! I can imagine this would be a freakin GORGEOUS aquatic on the right person, but it just doesn't work for me. My quest for my perfect bpal aquatic shall continue!

Very nice violet scent in the imp. A more floral violet and less candied violet than some of the other bpal violets i've tried. Oh yes, this is a beautiful, soft violet. Gorgeous! Sweet, but not sugary-very classy and not old grandma-ish to my nose at all! Overall, I really enjoyed this blend. I'm not sure I would pick it up, but it is an excellent violet blend and I would recommend all violet lovers check it out!

Melons! Sweet juicy melons! Omnomnom! Smells so good in the imp! I haven't sniffed any other BPAL that smells like this. On my skin, the florals come out from underneath the melon. This is almost a littttle too sweet >_O Thankfully that super sweetness calmed down as this reached full drydown. This is an excellent sweet uber-ripe melon blend (the florals are there, but just in the background). Entirely unique and refreshing, I think this would be an excellent spring/summer blend!

Hmmm, this has sort of a smokey lemon wood polish scent in the imp >_O Yes, this is an odd mixture of lemon and smoke over woods. I suppose it goes well with the Steampunk vibe, but it isn't really a scent I would want to wear. I am going to give this some time to settle and morph before making a final verdict though. On full drydown the citrus burns off almost completely and I get a soft smoked wood scent. Meh. Not for me!

I was very lucky to receive a partial bottle of this! It sounds soo good, I have been dying to try it! Mm, in the bottle it is musky amber and spiced tea, with a hint of florals. So pretty! My only worry is that the musk may go a bit powdery on me. Mmmm, on my skin, the cinnamon and cardamom really come out! Yum!! This becomes more of a musky cinnamon tea...so good! I never really got any tangerine in this. It ended up being a warm, snuggly, cardamom/cinnamon spiced tea with amber musk. Not quite what I expected, but as good as I could have hoped!

I am a HUGE sucker for Beth's asian blends. I love her cherry blossom and I loved the star anise in Kabuki, so I have super high hopes for this. Sandalwood is hit or miss though... Hmm...in the imp this is STRONG sandalwood and star anise. The cherry blossom is totally overpowered ): Having been to Kyoto, this scent doesn't remind me of the place at all! Far too intense... Yeah, the cherry blossom gets eaten alive in this. Strong sandalwood and anise...it's not bad, but not what I expected. I am going to give this some time to settle, but I have the feeling I will prefer Kabuki for my star anise fix. Oh full drydown, even the anise gets eaten by my skin, and all I get is soft sandalwood. ): Darnit. My chemistry just amps all woods to the extreme!!! So sad this is a no go for me ):

The only other 13 I've tried is the '08 Green Label version, which I adore. This one sounds very promising though! In the imp, this is WAY different from green label! This is sweet tart orange and fruits over cocoa and sandalwood. Yum! Very unique. It immediately starts morphing on my skin, going a bit sour. Tart, bittersweet orange is the standout note. It's sweet, but not sugary sweet. I definitely cannot pick out all the notes in this blend. Hmmm, as it dries it goes weird though...hard to describe. This reminds me of some other blend, but for the life of me I cannot remember which. It smells off to me and I don't know which note it is. As it dries, the orange fades almost entirely away, and its sort of a Gladdener of All Hearts-esque super powdery sweet lavender. O_o This is a TRUE morpher. It was an interesting scent experience, but thankfully, I will not need to seek out a bottle of this.

This was lab frimp. Never would have gone for this on my own-green and earthy aren't generally my thing. Green and earthy is exactly how it smells in the imp, with a bit of incense and spice. The green color of the oil is SUPER cool though This is interesting on the skin-a spicy/sweet earthy blend. Like dirt mixed with sugary sticky plant sap and spices. This is actually quite nice as it melds to my skin-the dirty dirty note has faded, now it is mostly just fresh greens and sap. On full drydown it actually becomes a bit soapy-sweet earthy sappy soap. This was an interesting blend-it was fun to sniff all of the transformations. Not my thing, but I can imagine this being GORGEOUS on others.

JASMINE-SPLOSION! In the imp this is WHAM, Jasmine in the face. If you don't like jasmine, stay far far away! This does have a nighttime feel to it. I am looking forward to trying it, though I hope it calms down a bit when it hits my skin. Damn, this is some STRONG jasmine. I really get almost nothing except the night blooming jasmine. That's pretty much how it stays the whole time its on my skin. It does fade nicely so that is not so in your face but still has a distinct presence. I like jasmine, but not enough to want a such a straight jasmine blend (I know it isn't really a straight jasmine blend, but that is how it went on my skin!), but if you are a jasmine lover, you must check this blend out!

In the imp, this is far woodier than I expected. Wood with hints of flowers and white musk. On my skin, the pepper note really pops. This is light woods and pepper over white musk. I lose the florals and mandarin almost entirely. Overall, as this dried down completely, it was just a meh light woody blend. Everything but the wood faded very fast, and woods aren't my thing.

Whoa, very VERY sharp, spicy ginger in the imp. Almost a bit sour it's so sharp. I can see where people get "evil gingersnaps" from this, but it might be a bit TOO evil for me. Ok, it is better on my skin, but it is still too much-there's that darn sour undertone that turns my stomach almost. Maybe it's reminding me of War. Unfortunately, I just have to wash this off. I will stick to Gingerbread Poppet for my gingerbread fix.

Honey musk, green tea leaf, blackberry leaf, vanilla bean, and fae spices. Mmm! This smells soo good in the imp! Honey and vanilla, tea, bits of berry and spices! Soo delicious! Hmm..this is interesting. I can feel the honey getting a bit powdery on my skin, but while it had a sort of weirdness to it in the beginning, it is starting to meld really well to my skin. Oh, yes, very good! I don't know exactly how to describe it, but it is so good! Musky honey, vanilla and spices! I also love that blackberry leaf and green tea leaf! It is all just blended together SO well! Yep, this gets added to the bottle list! Soo gorgeous! Sweet rich musky honey that is not saccharine sugary, with vanilla, spice, and the two leaves are all just blended to perfection!

I mostly get rosemary and rose from this in the imp-not much of the orange blossom. Rose tends to go weird on me and I tend to not like rosemary in my perfume, but I gotta try em all! Strong strong rose on my skin. Rose haters, beware, this is definitely rosey!!! I barely even notice the rosemary and the orange blossom is definitely crushed by the rose. On my skin, as it dries, the rosemary definitely comes out much more. I never got the orange blossom-just rose and rosemary. It smells ok, as long as I don't shove my nose onto my wrist. Not my thing, but my mom came in and thought it smelled very good on me so the imp is hers now

Ok, this is one of those blends I sniffed at will call a year ago, was interested in, never purchased, and now it's been like, haunting me. I don't even really remember how it smells, but I KNEW I needed to try it again before desperately pursuing a bottle. In the imp this is ZOMG. Better than I remember-rich sweet/sexy adult grape. Mmmmm!!! On my skin it definitely blossoms and gets more complex. The Dragon's blood and neroli really come out a lot more. Very musky as well. I kind of miss that fresh sweet tart grapiness of the wet scent. Phew. Ok, this is why I wanted a decant of this. That wet smell is gorgeous and amazing, but on my skin it becomes a rather powdery blah neroli/dragon's blood with whiffs of incense and grape. Totally fell flat on my skin! I think this could be AMAZINGLY gorgeous on the right person, but my skin just ate up the yummy!

Just what it sounds like sniffing it from the imp-white tea and ginger! Very nice! I would like to see how this is on my skin, but it smells great in the imp! Yep, this could not be more dead on to the description! Crisp tea and ginger! Yum! I feel like there is another CG tea/ginger blend that this reminds me of...I cannot for the life of me remember which one, but this is better. It is perfect! Exactly what I wanted in this blend! Gorgeous crisp white tea and ginger! Lovely! Added to the GC bottle wishlist!

Dragon's blood doesn't really excite me, but I think it could be interesting with the added notes, especially clove and cherry, so I am actually pretty interested to give this one a shot. In the imp this is more of a Sweet thick syrupy cherry with dragon's blood, than visa versa. Yep, on my skin, strong cherry syrup, kind of like grenadine, with a hint of clove and dragon's blood. I actually quite like it-not your typical dragon's blood blend at all! I don't think I would purchase this, but I did like it a lot. As it dries, the clove really comes to the forefront! Yum! Strong clove and sweet syrupy cherry [note on FULL drydown the sweet cherry fades a lot] over soft dragon's blood. Sweet and sexy! Beth really nailed this one!

Hmm..in the imp this is not the smell I expected from a scent representing golden light. I expected something with a warming glow...this is kind of dusty sandalwood =/ Yeah this is totally sandalwood on me. Same on drydown. Basically straight, dry sandalwood. O_o

This was my sleeper hit of the yules. Reading the descriptions I NEVER thought I would fall in love with it. But it is SO insanely gorgeous. I am so glad I took a sniff of this at will call. At first it's like a blast of fresh mint, sweet, but not sugary or vanilla (ie Lick it) mint. This first phase is lovely, but as it dries and morphs, it becomes this perfume perfume but not perfume skin scent that is just gorgeous. I normally don't like wood scents at all, but they are so calm and muted here. So complex and mature, but delicate and lovely. Rose-haters, don't worry, it's just barely noticeable, and the amber, which usually goes powdery on me, doesn't go powdery at all. Gah, it is just SO hard to describe this one properly! It's one that melds with your skin so well. So beautiful...

Whoa. This REALLY does smell like the drink! Fruity and boozy! Yum! I love that sweet cranberry! Hahaha, omg this is like a jello-shot perfume Strongly fruity and boozy! I wish it was a teeensy bit lighter on the booze to be honest. Though then I guess it wouldn't really be a cosmo now, would it? As it dries, the boozey note does calm down a bit, as does the intenseness of the red fruitiness-it becomes more of a generic sugary cranberry blend that has an unfortunate sort of synthetic undertone. Really, this blend shines in those first few minutes, when it REALLY smells like a cosmopolitan. It is just uncanny! After that first wet phase fades away, it kind of loses it's UMPH and excitement. It's a nice sweet cranberry/fruit juice blend, but nothing so special I would need a bottle.
