This is verrrry soft in the imp. Light light florals and ginger. Pretty, but a bit too faint... I have to practically shove my wrist up my nose to smell anything once this is on my skin. Almost smells like very very faded suntan lotion. Seriously, I've never had a blend be so soft and get eaten up by my skin SO fast. Not sure it if its the blend, or if its my nose and skin. It's pretty-soft white florals and a touch of ginger, but just BARELY there. I like my scents much less subtle

In the imp this smells like generic men's cologne. That is not a bad thing-it smells good. It's just hard to pick out specific notes and smells like something you would find at a perfume counter. Yes, this is a very classy men's cologne. For something that is based off of an 18th century cologne, it is surprisingly modern. A bit pretty almost! It doesn't change much upon dry down. I hate to leave my description so vague, but it really does smell like expensive, preppy "Men's Cologne" to me. I don't like cologne-y scents for myself. I imagine this would be a great blend to try to bring a wary guy over to the bpal darkside tho

Ok, I was very generously frimped this a few months ago and was afraid to try it because I was afraid I would love it... This smells ridiculously good in the imp. Very similar to one of my favorite blends, Love's Philosphy, but sugary and with added sandalwood...yum! Hmmm...ok now on my skin I get a bit of a plastic note...I'm trying to recall what this reminds me of...some other bpal blend that didn't work for me. And the sandalwood is starting to amp...I like sandalwood, but it tends to overpower most blends for me... Overall, I can definitely see why people might compare this and LP. They smell similar in the imp. But this is way softer on the saffron, way stronger on the sugar (almost a sugared vanilla-very Faith-esque), and the sandalwood is definitely noticeable. If you a sandalwood amper like me, it may overtake the blend. Super sugared vanilla, sandalwood, and a hint of buttercream. Dries down to a soft sweet vanilla sandalwood. Good, but I'll stick with LP! Edit 11/20/2011-So, I now have a bottle of this from a trunk show a while back, so I am going to give this a second go and see if my mind has been changed. I still worry I am going to get the plastic-y note, or that I am going to amp the sandalwood too much...we shall see! In the bottle, this is sweet buttery vanilla. I get a bit of saffron and a bit of sandalwood, but this is mostly a nummy foody vanilla. Maybe like a mix between love's philosophy + detestable putrescence + sandalwood? On my skin---yum! Buttery saffron, vanilla, and sandalwood. I do sort of get that plastic-y note I noticed in the imp I had of this...I have no idea what note that is...it's so odd. It's almost chemical-y. Also, the saffron is much stronger than I remember from the imp. Hmm...this blend sort of confuses me...it is delicious, but it also has that weird chemical-y fakeness...It's sort of one of those blends on me that smells like yummy vanilla yummyness from far away, but up close is sort of weird/dusty/chemically. You know, I can totally see why people love this. It was one of those alllmost omg amazing blends on me, just had that weirdness (I think the sandalwood) that kept it from being one of those blends!

Strong sweet honey and myrrh with a hint of balsam. Way way sweeter in the imp than I expected O_o Incensey blends aren't my thing, and there other bpal honey blends I love, so I have the feeling this won't be a blend for me... Yeah, wow this is almost ALL honey. Not what I expected at all. Sweet sweet honey and a hint of incense and herbs. Actually better than I expected! Ok, on drydown, this really feels like almost a straight honey scent with a hint of incense. So not what I expected. I like it, but wouldn't need a bottle. So take note, this blend is FAR sweeter and more honeyish than the description would allow you to believe!!!

Dusky is a great word for how this blend smells in the imp. Dusky mimosa and neroli with a hint of clove! Very nice. Damn, this smells so good. Super sexy! The bergamot really pops when this is on my skin! I don't always love mimosa and neroli, but they come together so well here, especially with the bergamot and clove. Warm and sexy and inviting-I can't stop sniffing my wrists! I think this will get added to the never ending list of GC bottles I want one day. I don't have anything like this! Masterfully blended dusky muted mimosa, neroli and orange blossom with an undertone of bergamot and hints of warm clove. Lovely!

This smells SO good in the bottle. Just like what the notes sound like, sweet spun sugar with hints of lemon and peach sugar candies. SO beautiful! Just as delicious on my skin! Peach and lemon sugar with a hint of tea! Sweet and sparkling and girly and fun! This will be lovely all year round!

This soap was ok-to be honest, I find whatever base is used for the bpal soaps to be a bit overpowering...not sure how to describe it, but it kind of overshadows the perfume of the soap. To me, the scent was a soft cider scent-very reminiscent of fall, but sadly, the scent was light to begin with, and faded after only a few uses. I do love the creamy, luxurious texture of the soaps, but after trying three of them (La Primavera [my favorite], L'Estate, and L'Autuno) I will probably have to find a home for L'Inverno with someone who will enjoy it more.

I won't lie, I'm a bit nervous about this one...bpal aquatics are usually doom on me, especially seaweed. But I received this as a generous frimp, so I gotta give it a shot. Smells actually rather nice in the imp, rich wood and incense, with a hint of aquatics. Very cologney on my skin, masculine and spicy. Not the sharp aquatic I was expecting at all! This is gorgeous! Honestly, I would not buy this for me...it's a bit too masculine for my tastes, but I think this is an amazing blend. A perfect spicy, woodsy, incensey blend with just a hint of (non-sharp) aquatics and dark berries that is masterfully blended. Very sexy and warm!

Very very musky sweet blood note and a hint of coconut is what I get in the imp...I think this will be too musky for me. Hrmph, yes, farrrr too musky on my skin. I love that sweet blood note, but here it is just too musky and the coconut is just the faintest whisper. Dries down to a generic musk and fades fast.

I am very interested to try this blend and compare it to La Vita Nuova, which is also a an apple blossom and rose blend that I enjoy-instead of the lemon balm, this has the ylang ylang and honey, which can be hit or miss. Can be sweet and sexy, or could be powdery d00m! Very pretty in the imp! Definitely that same apple blossom/rose feel of La Vita Nuova, but with that sweet honey goodness! I hope this works on my skin! Hmm, similar on my skin, but the rose is a bit strong, and the honey and ylang ylang are a little sickly and cloying. I am going to let this sit for a bit and see how it settles. Overall, this is a very nice blend. Definitely too similar to La Vita Nuova for me to zomg need it, and I think the lemon balm in LVN cuts the rose a bit better than in Eve. On full drydown the honey is the strongest note-and there are other honey blends I like more. A good blend, but bottleworthy for me.

Cinnamon Sugar Cookies & Egg Nog
Suu4LC replied to Tibicina's topic in Gifts with Donation or Purchase
In the imp, this smells a lot like Sugar Cookie '08, with maybe a hint of egg nog...if you told me this was Sugar Cookie, I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference! But, we all know that the imp scent is never the same as the skin scent, so it's time to try this baby on! Yes, on my skin is definitely where the differences come out-the egg nog note really pops on my skin, and I get just a dash of cinnamon! Overall, this is definitely a yummy blend. If you are a fan of Beth's sugar cookie note and her egg nog note, I cannot imagine not enjoying this blend-it is a perfect mix of the two. I don't think it is the most original blend, but it delicious and can see it being super popular if it were ever to be released! -
I was so disappointed to have missed this weenie and so happy I finally got my hands on a bottle! Bpal Pumpkin isn't generally my favorite, usually a bit too buttery for my tastes, but it is a lovely backdrop in this blend to the rest of the notes. To those who are worried about the rose-don't be! It's just barely there, just the tiniest bit to make an impact without being overly noticeable. I also love the cranberry and strawberry in this-they aren't too sweet-muted and pretty. This blend is so hard to describe because there are so many notes and this is just so complex and well blended. Almsot a cranberry/strawberry incense blend with hints of florals and a buttery pumpkin base. Lovely!

Snowy pine and herbs. It has this harsh note that was in the L'Inverno room spray that just isn't my thing, but I am going to see if it mellows on my skin. Hmmm, yeah, it has this sharpness to it that just turns me off. I need to figure out what note that is...if you enjoyed the L'Inverno room spray, this is very reminscent! Overall, not my thing-sometimes the snow-covered pine note in bpal just does not work for me, and this is one of those times. As I said before though, this totally feels like L'Inverno room spray in perfume form, so if that's your cuppa, check this out before the yules go down!

I will admit, I'm not the hugest snake oil fan-but I had heard so much raving over this that there was no way I could pass up a chance to own a bottle of SC thanks to the resurrection, even if to just let it age for a couple of years. Definitely can smell the snake oil in the bottle, but I also get the addition of plum, which is one of my favorite lab notes. Yum! Admittedly though, on my skin this feels too incensey to me. Not enough plum or vanilla, too much musk and incense...hmm...gonna let it dry down a bit more... The incense and musk do calm down as it dries...it's still a bit too snake oil-y for me, though it gets better and better as it dries down and mellows and morphs with my skin. Very sexy snake oil. And I get the plum again! Overall, I don't see myself wearing this much now, but I will definitely hold onto it to let the oil age-I can see this being amazing with just a bit of time and patience!

This is more latte, and less eggnog, which is fine with me-i've been craving more bpal coffee blends. This smells SO good. Truly good enough to drink. Delicious creamy latte with a splash of eggnog. I only hope this smells as good on my skin!!! Mmmm yes, perfect coffee and eggnog blend. Just sweet enough without being sickening, and the coffee/latte note is SPOT ON. As it dries, I get more cinnamon and nutmeg and the coffee tones down, making this much more wearable. Yep, this is truly amazing. I feel so lucky to have it. The perfect eggnog latte blend. I do hope Beth thinks of bringing this out next season as a Yule, I think it would be so beloved!!!

Ok, if you saw my review of Champagne, Chocolate, and Cheap Sex, you'll see that I didn't love the champagne note in that, so I'm a bit leery of this blend, though I am curious to see how it will blend with rose. Darn, in the bottle, it's that same champagne note...I get a teeensy hint of rose, but instead of tempering the champagne, I think it makes it even sharper. On my skin the rose comes out quite a lot more and differentiates itself from the champagne more noticeably. From far away it's kind of pretty, soft rose and fizzy champagne, but up close it is just too sharp for me. I don't think I'm classy enough for the champagne blends...bring on the rum

In the bottle the champagne is really really strong and dry. Not as sweet as I would have expected, like the champagne note in Bon Vivant. I also don't get much chocolate or cheap sex (I do get a whiff of a cologne-y note), so I am curious to see how this will morph on my skin. Ok, on my skin a get a leetle bit of chocolate, but really, this is mostly a strong dry champagne note... Yeah, this was strong champagne, with hints of cologne and a teensy bit of chocolate. I can see someone loving this...if they really liked that champagne note. Unfortunately, the champagne note just doesn't do it for me. Not as light and sweet as I would have hoped-a bit heavier and drier. I'll stick to the real things when it comes to champagne, chocolate, and cheap sex ;D

I am a super foody. I love foody scents. Bpal chocolate has been hit or miss with me, but I am pretty excited to finally test this one out! Whoa. In the imp this is like STRAIGHT chocolate bar. Like a milk chocolate Hershey's bar with almonds in liquid form. If it stays this nommy on my skin, I will definitely need a bottle. Hmm..ok though, on my skin there is something under the chocolate scent that is just not good. I don't know what the heck it is. But it's taking away from the yumminess of the chocolate. Grr!!! It almost smells dusty. Damn! This is what I meant when I said bpal chocolate was a hit or miss with me. Yeah, this smells SO delicious in the imp, but something makes it go weird and dusty on my skin. Ah well, I will grab my 13 '08 for my chocolatey needs!

Mmm...in the imp this is honey and grains...like a super dark, rich, version of Dana O Shee. Love the nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, and ginger root I get in this. Mmmm... On my skin, the grains come out a lot more, and the ginger root, which is good, because I loves me some ginger root. This is not as boozy as I would have expected. More rich and earthy and grainy, with the added sweetness of honey, and hints of all of those lovely spices. I even get the lemon! What a wonderful and complex blend! Now, the downside is, that this is fading super fast and I quickly lose the complexity of the blend. It also gets rather powdery as it hits full drydown. Super powdery. So what I end up with is a rather plain sweet honey powder. Damn. I can see this blend being amazing on some people, if it maintains it's original fresh wet splendor, my skin just powderized it.

In the imp, this is mostly black musk, tobacco, and fir. A very dark, rich scent. Yep, on my skin, it's those same three notes at the forefront. A rather masculine blend, earthy, dark woodsy blend. This is far too heavy and looming for me, and I'm not a huge black musk, tobacco, or woodsy fan. If those first three notes intrigue you though, definitely check this out!

In the imp this is a slightly vanilla-y Dragon's blood scent. I'm not a huge Dragon's blood fan-too floral for me generally. On my skin, I get a bit more of that honeyed vanilla, which I do think is a nice addition to the Dragon's blood. It's not as milky (the lab's milk note usually goes horribly wrong on me) or powdery as I was worried it would be. A nice sweet vanilla version of Dragon's blood. Overall, I do like this blend more than I like most Dragon's Blood blends. The addition of honeyed vanilla sweetens it up in a yummy way, without making it too foody, but helping calm down the floral-ness of Dragon's Blood that it isn't really my thing. I wouldn't purchase a bottle of this, but would absolutely recommend Dragon's Blood fans to check this blend out-it is very nice!

This review is for the resurrected "Beaver'versay" version. SO. GOOD. I have been wearing this almost every day since I purchased it. This is super creamy cheesecakey graham crackery vanilla cupcakey goodness. This is a foodie's dream scent and I am grateful this was resurrected so that I had a chance to partake in the deliciousness.

Mmm, this smells soo good in the bottle. Warm and spicy-I definitely get a fruity spiced cider feel from this. Oh yes, this is delicious spiced fruity cider. An amazing warm holiday blend. So. Good. *melts*

Hmm, I remember not liking olive blossom, and I guess that still holds true, because when I sniff this in the imp i'm like MEH olive blossom. Yeah, this is BAM OLIVE BLOSSOM on my skin. If you LIKE olive blossom, definitely check this out. I get a little bit of some of the other notes, frankincense, tobacco flower and sage specifically, but way too much olive blossom for my liking.

Mm! Smells lovely-a crisp fresh bouquet-for some reason I get apple from this-not sure why. Definitely not a 'grandma' floral. Very well blended-I can't pick out anything specific on first sniff. This kinda reminds me of a softer, less "red/purple" feeling Lune Noire actually. Lovely! Overall, I am glad I just got a decant of this, because while it is pleasant, I'm not blown away by it-it fades rather fast, and just doesn't grab me in any special way. A pretty blend, but nothing I am going crazy over.
