Hmm. This should be interesting. I love the lab's rum notes, but woods can be a hit or miss, and anything to do with a salty sea is usually DOOM. In the imp, this is a spicy wood. I have the feeling this will be too woody (lol) on me-I tend to amp wood to the extreme. Yum! Spicy wood and spicy rum! Not much perfume or sea air-just lovely rich wood and spicy yummy rum! Warm and sexy! Overall, I do think this is a very good blend...BUT it was still a BIT too heavy on the wood for my personal preference. I love the rummy note, but there are other spicy rum blends I like more, so I don't see myself needing a bottle of this. I still don't get any perfume or sea air from this, but I think "spiced rum and ship’s wood" is a perfect description of this blend! Would be great on a man, a woman, anyone who enjoys pirate-y blends!

Ah, this is quite lovely in the imp-soft creamy rose and beeswax. Light and pretty. On my skin, the rose amps up a bit-I don't really get any ozone from this, and I'm not sure what opaline notes would smell like. I am just getting a pleasant rose, softened in a good way by the beeswax. Rose can sometimes go sour on me, but this seems to be behaving quite nicely. Overall though, this was kind of a meh blend to me. Dried down to a sweet but VERY powdery rose-way too powdery for me. Thankfully, I won't have to try to search down a bottle of this!

Ooooo! I like this in the imp! Sexy men's cologne! This is one of those blends where I find it hard to pull out the specific notes-it just smells like a sexy, fresh, classic men's cologne. This is how I'd want to the crook of a guy's neck to smell when I nuzzle against it Wouldn't wear it myself because I'm a girly girl, but I may have to pick up a bottle for my boy~!

In the imp this is a blast of mint with a violet undertone. I'm not a eucalyptus or neroli fan, and I feel like the combo of those two notes kinda gives this a funky edge to it... This is definitely much better on my skin-lovely minty violet...reminds me a bit of Violet Ray but with eucalyptus/neroli and much stronger on the mint than the violet. Yeah, I would overall call this a very nice violet-y mint. I like this, but there are better violet blends I like and better mint blends I like, so I wouldn't purchase a bottle of this blend. Definitely worth checking out if the description intrigues you!

I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain

This is SUCH a yummy scent. When I saw the description I knew it was up my alley! To me, this is a Pink version of Huesos De Santos. The cake note is almost exactly the same to my nose. But instead of an orange cake with anise, this is a strawberry frosted sponge cake with hints of carnation and grapefruit. Sweet and pink and nomtastic! -
Very musky! I mostly get the white and red musk, with maybe a hint of grapefruit. This will probably be too musky for me when it is on my skin. This actually smells a bit better than I expected on my skin-the grapefruit and strawberry leaf shine through a bit more, but I am going to see how this settles. It is still too musky for my personal tastes. Yeah, this dries down to a rather 'meh' musky scent-mostly just white musk. They don't feel screeching or howling to me-just rather bland to be honest. No bite at all. The grapefruit and strawberry leaf notes get lost in the mix pretty fast. Definitely not as sharp or complex as I would expect a Mania blend to be.

This is the version from the Dark Delicacies Trunk show in November of '08. In the imp it sort of a dusty/earthy caramel scent. Maybe a little "reindeer musk" in there? This is a bit better on my skin-sort of musky/dusty gingerbread to my nose. Thankfully, I can live without this blend ever being released. It's a bit too dusty/musky for my nose. Not enough caramely/gingerbread-ness. Still, for a blend with poop in the name, it is quite pleasant

Ack...all I smell in the imp is patchouli and musks and something totally off...might be the honeysuckle, tends to be a doom note with me...damn, I was so excited because I love ginger, but I'm afraid to even put this on my skin... Ok, wow this is just foul on me, like sour vomit...this may take the place for one of the worst bpals ever on my skin :D I think I need go to wash it off...

Oof-bpal aquatics usually turn to fail on me...sniffing this in the imp, I don't think this will be an exception. It's an odd aquatic, more basey than salty... Yeah, on my skin...it's hard to describe how this smells, but definitely gets saltier...it's...just aquatic. Maybe a touch of bergamot. No discernable eucalyptus. As I expected, this just dried down to weird stinky salty aquatics-if you are a fan of bpal aquatics like Calico Jack and whatnot, give this one a try, but if you've had bad luck with bpal aquatics, this prolly won't change your mind. At least it didn't smell like rotting seaweed!

In the imp this is...ROSE! A bit sweet. It's nice, but rose heavy blends tend to go sour on me. With bpal you never know though, so let's see how it is on my skin. Hmph, yeah, as soon as it gets on my skin it starts to go a little off. Not horribly, just a teensy bit funky and sour. This blend isn't too interesting to me. Just...rose. As it dries, there is a green-ness that comes out that I didn't notice in the imp. Less sweet, more green. Overall, this was just a meh rose scent on me. Nothing special. I would say try it out if you love rose, but if you're not a rose fan, I don't think this blend will convert you.

This is very nice! A very pleasant sweet herbal scent! I can definitely see where people get melon from this. I'm not always a fan of bay rum, but it works very well in this blend. Love the sarsparilla! I will be swapping my squirt because it is a bit too herbal for me-I can't ever see using it, but I can see why it would be very popular!

This is an herbal/woody type smell in the imp. The myrrh is very strong. Don't really get any currant in this-I do get a bit of mimosa though. On my skin this is a strong myrrh with hints of currant and mimosa. Myrrh isn't my thing, so I'm not really digging this so far...as it dries, I get this weird chlorine-y smell I get once in a while with bpal blends...not sure what note is doing it, but it's kind of mildewy =/ Meh, yeah, this dried down to powdery myrrh on me. Definitely not a keeper.

Hmm...rosewood is sort of a doom note on me-woods tend to amp really badly, but I can't help but be curious about this blend. It sounds like it could be really nice. In the imp this is mostly cherry and lavender with a touch of wood. The wood really comes out on my skin. This is actually kind of nice. Deep black cherry, dark wood, and lavender! Very nice! Going to let this sit for a bit and see how the wood settles, but I am quite liking this so far. The lavender is quite strong in this one, so I would advise caution if you are a lavender hater. Unfortunately, and I happen to like lavender, it does get a bit overpowering in this blend. I lose that yummy cherry and I even seem to lose the wood a bit. As it dries the lavender calms down, and I get a nice musky cherry/wood scent. I don't think I would buy this for me, but I think it is an excellent blend that would smell really great on a guy or a girl. Seems to fade a bit fast, so slathering may be necessary!

Violet, neroli and sandalwood in the imp. Not getting too much musk. This is nice, but nothing too exciting, and I have the feeling that on my skin the sandalwood will amp and drown out everything else. Ok, on my skin the dark musk comes out a lot more...kind of a musky neroli scent now...with a touch of sandalwood. Lost the violet, which is too bad, because that was my favorite note out of this list. I am going to let this sit for a bit and see how it settles. Ok, my fear did not come true-I lose the sandalwood in this almost completely-and the musk! Pretty much just neroli and violet. Meh. Not really sleek or dark or ominous. If you are a huge violet fan, try this out, but it was nothing special for me.

Nom! This is a foodie's dream, and I am a foody, so of course I adore this scent! A sweet, very buttery sugar cookie with a hint of spice. This smells even better on my skin than it does in the bottle. A total win!

Ooo! This is yummy! Mint and violet! A bright, minty, purple scent! I love bpal mints and this is no exception. A nice violet/purple floral take on mint! Gorgeous!!! Unfortunately, the mint faded really fast, so this ended up as a much less interesting violet scent. A nice sweet violet, but it doesn't have the WOW factor that would lead me to need a bottle of this.

I love grapefruit/citrus-y scents, so I am hopeful about this one. In the imp, this is strong, fresh grapefruit and yuzu. Ooo yum! This reminds me of the Body Shop's pink grapefruit soap! A gorgeous perfect grapefruit scent! I am going to let this sit for a bit to check the staying power (darn citrus scents and their fading!), and if this lasts a decent amount of time, I can definitely see this being a keeper. Hmm, darn, this does fade REALLY fast. It's completely gone within an hour. My skin just swallowed it up. So I'm not sure I would purchase this blend. I do think it is a nice grapefruit blend though, especially if you are looking for a true fresh grapefruit scent that isn't super sweet or sugary.

Ehhh, uhoh, I don't think this is gonna work for me...I tend to have trouble with aquatics, and this has a strong aquatic vibe to me-the lotus and water blossom ivy are probably the culprits. It's like an odd salty floral... The rose becomes very strong when this is on my skin. Everything else kind of falls to the wayside actually. This becomes pretty much a straight rose scent on my skin O_o Yeah, on full dry down this is ROSE. Just rose. I barely get anything else. Rose isn't really my thing, and it is rare for a rose bpal to really grab me. This is just meh rose. Not what I was expecting in this blend!
-
Hmmm, interesting in the imp-the florals are a little sharper than I expected. Less fruity. Iced white flower petals with a hint of peach and grape. Definitely very icy. This is ok on, but I'm not blown away. Definitely gets fruitier on, which is a plus for me-I'm really digging the peach note especially. This is almost a blend I could really like, but one one of the floral notes is just a little off to me. Yeah, this never got better as it dried. One of those floral notes really did kinda wonk it up for me, and also, this faded REALLY fast and just kind of left behind a dull sweetish powdery scent. I think this could be gorgeous on the right person, but my skin chemistry did nothing for this blend.

In the imp this is definitely coconutty shea butter (very similar to the body shop's shea body butter) with a LOT of milk. Maybe a bit too strong on the milk I fear. Ughhhh, yeah the coconut and shea smell good, but the milk is like baby formula *shudder* Really really strong baby formula. Turns my stomach...yeah, the milk note in this is total baby formula *shudder* If you've had trouble with the lab's milk note in the past, this may be a problem blend for you as well.

Ozone and mint. Kind of a watery smell to me, in an earthy way. Interesting-not sure how this will smell on my skin. This kind of feels like a non-salty aquatic to my nose, though on my skin it starts to feel a bit saltier. Probably the ozone note. Definitely getting more of that mossy note. This feels like a shallow pool of water by a river. The water is definitely not clear and there is thick moss growing on the rocks. The mint gives this a certain sweetness and freshness to it though, so it never feels like a dank pool of water. This is alright. Kind on an earthy take on a mint/aquatic, but I can think of three other bpal mints off the top of my head (Tokyo Stomp, Lick It, and Green Tree Viper) that I WAY prefer, so I could never imagine myself grabbing for this.

*GAG* This was a frimp. One sniff and its a blast of vetiver in my face. Vetiver is my LEAST favorite note ever. I have to try everything, so I will soldier through this...but good god. Smoky vetiver DOOM. Yep, dark, smoky vetiver-fiery. Bleh. Yeah. Vetiver. If you like vetiver check this out, but I can't really judge this fairly because of my intense dislike of vetiver. *shudder*

Mmmm, this smells so good in the imp! I adore the lab's plum note, and this is rich and dark purple, with a strong shot of amaretto! Yum! Sexy and delicious! On the skin the wine comes out more, keeping this from being too sweet or foody. This is SUCH a burgundy scent! Like burgundy velvet. A great mix of sweet and sexy. The lab's plum note is almost always win on me-same with currant. I am going to give this some time to fully dry, but so far, this is an amazing scent. I can see why it is so popular! Yep, this is a total win! Dries down a bit softer and a little more powdery, but still delicious. So sexy and gorgeous! Added to the wishlist ;D

Hm. This is very perfumey/cologney in the imp. A bit more like generic perfume than most bpal-not in a bad way though. On the skin, it definitely becomes much more complex. Orchid and juniper berries (oh so good!) with just a hint of soft patchouli. I'm not a patchouli fan but it is really nice here, grounds the blend and keeps it from being blah. Still a bit generic, but I think that might make it a good blend to try to lure someone into bpal-dom with. Unfortunately as this dries, my skin is just devouring all the berry and orchid. DAMN, yeah, within like ten minutes everything is gone except for the white musk O_o Harumph, that happens with my skin once in a while. I imagine this could be a great blend on some people, very unisex, but it definitely doesn't work for me!

OMG YUM! Yummy coconut-y rum!! Sweeter than I would have imagined, but in a good way! On my skin, I totally get what all these other reviews are talking about when they say BUTTERSCOTCH! At first iti was very butterscotchy, like butterscotch lifesavers, but hmm, the more bitter alcoholic note also gets stronger as this is on my skin. This almost gets a little plasticky...Hmmm...this is kind of a monet blend to me. Smells good from far away, but up close...it's just kind of odd. Overall, this is a nice blend. A good rummy/coconut/butterscotchy blend. Don't think I would need this though, because it kinda reminds me of a calmed down Upa Upa, and I barely use Upa Upa as it is. And there's that underlying plastic note that keeps this from being an OMG blend on me.
