This is BOOM, WORMWOOD in the imp! I get little hints of anise and lemon-this really does smell like it should be a drink! On my skin, the lemon comes out really strong...a bit too strong, and it actually gets a bit of that dreaded lemon cleanser smell. Too much lemon and not enough anise for me. I still say this would be an awesome shot at a bar, kinda like Ouzo, but it's not so much in the way of a perfume scent for me.

My thoughts on this were almost the same as Eatingthesea's review above. I didn't get any milk/honey notes, the ginger was a little funky, and it disappeared FAST. This was not the yummy warm and cozy scent I had hoped for!

Rich spicy wine, berries, woods and dragon's blood. An interesting mix of scents that somehow all seem to work together very well, at least upon sniff in the imp. This isn't a scent I would have picked for myself (frimp from teh lab), but I'm actually finding myself quite excited to try it. Wow-the spices in the wine really POP when this is on my skin. Wow. WOW, this is really quite amazing. Normally I am scents with wood in them, but this blend is just rich and spicy and earthy and gorgeous! The wood notes keep this from being just a booze scent. It's so complex, and everything just blends together so well. I am going to give it some time to settle but so far, I cannot stop huffing my arm where I tested this! This is the first dragon's blood scent that has worked on me! (Thankfully for me) I don't get any leather or armor type notes-this just dries down a a beautiful spiced booze with the an undertone of herbs and earthy woods and just the teensiest hint of dragon blood to round it out. To go on the bottle list for sure!

This smells SO good in the imp! I love white musk, and it plays so well with the apricot. I have been longing for a good apricot scent-the clove was too strong in March Hare for me, so I am hoping this is the one! Hmm...my skin is totally devouring the apricot! It almost disappears completely on my skin, leaving behind white musk, and the faintest whiff of sweet apricot! I guess my problem with March Hare wasn't that there was too much clove...it seems the problem is that my skin just sucks up apricot within seconds. Apricot is GONE. Gonna have to pass this one along :D So disappointing!

Oh wow, this smells wonderful in the imp! Sugared grapefruit and currant rounded out by musk. I've had so much success with bpal's grapefruit, I am very optimistic about this one! Hmm, this gets a bit greener on my skin. Uhoh, I'm not a huge chamomile fan, and this is going CHAMOMILE on me. Nooooo! ): Also gets a bit...chloriney? All herbal now. Lost all the sugar and grapefruit ): Meh, this fades really fast, and was never as good on my skin as when it was in the imp. Too bad! I think this might be amazing on other people, but not on me.

Gah! This is REALLY strong in the imp! @_@ I get the lavender and the jasmine and the honeysuckle, but it's kind of...too much of everything. Just an intense floral. Too intense for me in the imp, but maybe it will mellow on my skin...? Hmm, no, on my skin it's like BAM HONEYSUCKLE (my least favorite of the three notes)-thankfully the honeysuckle moves to the background, but still, it's just too strong of a floral for me. I like lavender and I like jasmine in other lab blends, but they are just WAY too much together @_@ I think I need to wash this off before I get a headache...

In the imp, I am only smelling the rose-there is barely an apple or lemon. The lab's rose is generally a fail note on me, so I am not too optimistic. On my skin this is ROSE!!!!!!!! Ok, wait...as it settles, the lemon and apple decide to peek out. Actually, the lemon and apple save this from from being stanky rose. Hmm. Pleasant really! The rose is brightened by the apple and lemon! The thing is, I like La Vita Nuova WAY better as an apple/lemon/rose scent...and I've been going through my bottle of that verrry slowly, so I can't ever see myself buying this. It's nice though, especially if the lab's rose is a good match for your skin!

Let me tell you how good this is-this is so good, that even though I wasn't really interested in the room spray or the bath oil, I HAD to have this oil after one sniff of it at Will Call. Oh, AND I don't like pine. Or winter as a season for that matter! THIS IS THAT GOOD. Gorgeous perfect icy frosted winter plum. All the other notes help round this out and are blended just right, and the result is just wonderful and evocative and genius.

*GAG* This was hard for me to sniff, even just in the imp. I love violet, but this is raunchy vetiver DOOM. I'm a glutton for punishment (and can't NOT test a bpal!), but I am dreading actually letting this hit my skin. Oh god, this is not any better on my skin. It kind of smells like burnt meat? Like, REALLY burnt blackened meat. :D Blackened meat that somebody stubbed out like, a whole pack of cigarette butts on topped with a healthy sprinkle of burnt rubber bits. This is probably in my top ten worst bpals on my skin. The poor violet is trying to peak out, but the vetiver keeps slapping her away. Ok, this needs to be washed off. Twas tried in the name of science and bpal love, but this is NOT for me!!!

Oh man, this scent is right up my alley. It had flown under my radar for a while, but after I heard some raving about it, I knew I had to test it before the CD rolls outta town. In the imp, this is delicious juicy bubblegum. Very sweet and a little fruity. I'm hoping I get more of the guava and apple blossom on my skin, but even if it just stays the same as the scent in the imp when it's on my skin, I will be sold. Whoa-this is VERY sweet. I think I'm getting cavities just from sniffing it! There is no lack of "spun sugar" note in this blend! This is like, slightly fruity cotton candy. Every now and then I get a little whiff of guava, but this is definitely dominated by a pink sugar note. I am going to give this some time to mellow and settle. Yep, this was a total win for me! Foodies-take note of this one! The intense sweetness calmed down as it dried, and this was a wonderful pink fruity sugary perfume that I will definitely be needing to grab a bottle of before the CD is gone!

This is practically the definition of white floral-seems like a very good blend for what it is trying to represent-wispy and translucent. UGH, but on my skin one of these notes turns to DOOM. Ughhhh. Smells like something rotting. Ghosts aren't supposed to smell like rot-that's for corpses and zombies!!! I don't know which note it is, but this needs to GO. *runs to scrub away the stank*

The enemy of God, also named Iblis, He Who Despaired of the Mercy of God. Al-Shairan is the leader of the Jinn, a tempter who whispers false suggestions to men enticing them into evil and perfidious acts, and is the sworn enemy of all of Adam’s children. His scent is fiery, bright and thick with sweet sinfulness: clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense notes. This smells like patchouli and cinnamon in the imp. A little too much patchouli for me honestly, and even though I love cinnamon, this is kind of that "red hots" cinnamon that I don't really want to smell like. Hmm, ok, on my skin, I think the fruity notes-peach and orange-actually make this blend smell kind of weird. Those notes fade reallllly fast though, and then it's pretty much a straight cinnamon/patchouli blend to my nose. It's nice-kind of reminds me of Clemence, but not REMOTELY as good. And I'm still not a huge fan of the cinnamon in this type of blend-too much like cinnamon candy. As it dries completely, the incense really takes over-too much in my opinion-kind of turns into pencil shavings. I can see this blend being awesome and sexy on the right person...just not me. If I want my sexy cinnamon/patchouli mix, I've got my Clemence!

Wow, I just took a good whiff of this in the imp and it was way better than I expected. I was kind of expecting a floral disaster, but this is a creamy amber scent with hints of flowers and citrus. Lovely! I don't know how it will mesh with my skin, but this is gorgeous in the imp! Ok, the citrus jumps out way more when this is on my skin-almost a bit too much for this blend in my opinion. Hmm..and one of the notes, not sure which, is getting to be kind of a wet towel smell (this has happened to me with a few other blends-I've got to try to remember which ones so maybe I can identify the note!). Also, the rose is going funky on me for sure...rose is just always a fail not for me! Damn! I love the smell of rose, but the lab's rose just does not get along with my skin!!! Bleh, yeah, this just total fail on me. I imagine this would be absolutely gorgeous and glittering on the right person, but it just ends up being stinky powdery rose-mess on me

I'm a huge fan of asian inspired perfumes (and they tend to work very well on my skin), so I cannot wait to try this. I think it smells so good in the imp-like the grapefruit soap I used to use from The Body Shop when I was younger. Sharp citrus and bitter grapefruit are the strongest notes-hopefully the cherry blossom and tea will poke out when this is on my skin. Hm...I lose a bit of the sharpness when this is on my skin, and I had liked that sharpness. It gets a bit too bitter...I am going to give this some time to settle on my skin. I'm still waiting for the cherry blossom and tea to peek out! Thankfully, as it dries, the bitterness calms down and it's just...wow. Ok, this really does remind me of The Body Shop's grapefruit scents from when I was young. I love it. I love the nostalgia of it. This is just such a perfect grapefruit scent-the yuzu is really amazing. It's not too strong and is just beautiful when you catch a waft of it. I think this is a perfect summer scent and it is going on my bottle wishlist! ETA: The ONLY real downside of this is that, like most citrus scents on me, it fades REALLY fast. But that's ok-I don't mind slathering

Damn-I like ALL of the notes in this one, but sniffing it in the imp, it smells kind of weird...I think it's maybe the jasmine in the blend. The other reviewers indicate that this is a morpher, so hopefully it will morph well on my skin. Oof, ok yeah this doom on me. I'm getting a bad breath note and a plastic note... :D Oh wait...now pencil shavings...I have no idea what went wrong here, but this is just a mess on me! *barf*

Ok, Antique Lace is one of my favorite bpals, so I was so excited to try this. The only thing I am worried about is that sometimes tobacco and incense don't mesh well with my skin...I know when I sniff this straight from the imp the tobacco is kind of overwhelming. Darn, yeah, this is just a bit too dark and musky for me. I am going to give it some time to settle and see how it dries down. Hmmm, it definitely gets better as it dries down. Ok, wow, WOW, damn, all of the dark notes mellow out very nicely. They don't disappear, but they behave themselves so that enhance the blend instead of overwhelm it. This is like Antique Lace's older sexy goth sister. I don't need a bottle of this right now or I'll die, but I will have to put this on my wishlist for the future... ETA: Got myself a bottle of the new 2009 version-LOVE IT! It always goes on a bit strong, but within minutes it mellows on my skin perfectly. I don't have my old decant so I can't compare them, but I don't remember a difference between the new one and the older version. I bet this will age sooo beautifully. Thank you for bringing it back Beth!!

Hmm...this smells kind of weird in the imp...the patchouli with all those sweet notes kind of gives it a body odor quality. Not terrible, but...not good. Patchouli is a hit or miss note with me, and 9 times out of 10 it's a miss... Ehh, yeah, on my skin, this is a little too sweet and a little too dirty. Thankfully, that dirtiness seems to fade once this has settled for a moment. Now I get the fig and the clove-very nice! Ehh, but then, I think the ylang ylang is making this a little too powdery...then it starts to get sickly sweet again as it dries down more. Lots of morphing with this blend. This is definitely far better on my skin that it was in the imp, but I enjoy other lab honey blends more, so this would not be a bottle purchase for me.

Yum! In the imp this is a sharp blast of cinnamon and almond! Very nice! Those are two of my favorite notes. I'm not a neroli fan, but I didn't even notice it in when sniffing from the imp. Whoa-CINNAMON! This is like Big Red perfume when I first put it on-seriously, Big Red is EXACTLY what this smells like. I'm lucky that I don't have a reaction to spicy scents, because this is intense. Very very strong! Yeah, I like this scent, but I would not wear this as perfume. It really is like rolling in Big Red gum.

In the imp this is a heavy and dark and a bit spicy scent over florals. It was actually quite nice when I first applied it to my skin. Very rich and deep and resinous and the florals aren't too strong or cloying or perfumey. I had expected this to be a somber scent, but it's actually a bit sexy! Unfortunately, that drying phase is where this blend really shines, and then it's quickly over and I lose all the spicy goodness and the flowers...heck, I pretty much lose everything. All I'm left with is sort of a generic woody/earthy scent. My skin just sucked up everything else. This may be a nice blend on someone else-so I'll be passing it on!
-
This is very soapy to me in the imp-a bit too much. I imagine if I sniffed this when I was hungover I would end up feeling nauseous. Hopefully it will mellow on my skin. Eh, not much change on the skin. It is definitely too soapy to be fresh. I was hoping for that wonderful fresh, clean laundry smell. Instead, it smells more like laundry detergent. On full drydown it sour soapy. Definitely not what I was hoping for in this blend.

This is a lovely soap. The fragrance is a bit light for my tastes, but it is a soft creamy amber scent, with just the tiniest bit of carnation and vanilla and beeswax. I'm a huge fan of the bpal soaps and how luxurious they feel on your body. Very creamy and decadent. I think I preferred the La Primavera soap, but this one is lovely as well, and more fitting for summer. Warmer and more glowing. Wonderful!

Gah, this smells like floral DOOM in the imp. Honeysuckle is one of my fail notes, so I don't think this will work on me. Also, a bit soapy smelling. Ah well, never know how these things morph on the skin... Ahhh, yeah, this is really strong honeysuckle and soap when I first apply it...thankfully, it quickly mellows. I also start to get the occasional whiff of jasmine. Honestly, this isn't bad, and I actually think it is a rather nice scent for what it is, but it just isn't for me. It gets better and better as it dries down completely and melds with your natural skin smell, but I would not buy it. If you like clean/fresh honeysuckle and jasmine though, I would absolutely recommend this blend!

I've had an imp of this to test just sitting around waiting for a time when I really needed a boost-now would be that time. This is yummy in the imp. Like sweet fruity gum. Hmm...on my skin there's a bit of an off note-I can't quite describe it...it's just odd. I am going to let this settle for a bit and see how it smells/how I feel. I'm liking it more as it dries, but I still am not sure I would wear this as perfume. Yeah, this is just meh for me. Kind of dries to stale bubblegum. Not my definition of bottled happiness.

Good god, I love this. I fell in love with it immediately at will call even though patchouli is one of my least favorite notes. I bought it immediately. In the bottle this is rich cinnamon tea-kind of like a sexed up Marathon Bubble Bar from lush. On my skin, the carnation pops out-kind of like lotioning up after a that bubble bath and slathering on some Lush Potion Lotion. But with 2398208392839283 times more sexy. I think this is the only patchouli based bpal that I like. Spicy sexy tea and carnationy goodness. Best whore 'o the bunch! *thumbsup*

In the imp this is very strong myrrh...I think this one will be doom for me-vetiver is my arch-nemesis and patchouli barely ever works on me. I like vanilla, almond, and clove, but I think those are going to be background notes that I won't get through all of the heavier notes on my skin. Yeah, this is pretty much all patchouli and myrrh on me. A whiff of pine here and there and some patchouli, but I just bbaaaarely get any of the almond and vanilla. It's not terrible-the vetiver didn't turn to death on me-this is just too dark and earthy for my tastes. Does dry down a bit sweeter, but ultimately, not for me.
