    Snow White Soap

This is a lovely soap. I have really enjoyed all of the Villainess BPAL soaps I have tried. This soap is no exception. Snow White was one of the first bpal blends I ever tested and bought a bottle of, and it is still one of my favorites. This soap represents the perfume very well. I've never had a good way of describing Snow White, but the soap smells just like it. So lovely and beautiful. Like the other Villainess soaps, it doesn't give you a very foamy lather-instead you get a very smooth, silky lather-feels super rich and luxurious. I hope they bring this back next year because I would totally buy another bar.

Ooo I love white musk, mint and caramel, but not sure about black musk and nicotiana...I like the smell of sage but not in perfoom...I am actually curious as to how this would smell. In the imp I mostly smell caramel and black musk. A very naughty, sexy RAWR caramel. On my skin I get more of the mint and sage. Yum! This is super sexy caramel-caramel is definitely the strongest note-with some dark musk for sure, offset by the bright mint-definitely get the sage in there too which somehow...just works really well in this. It reminds me of the caramel in Agraht-Bat-Mahlat. On drydown, it actually smells a LOT like Agraht-Bat_malaht. Same kind of caramel-if I didn't have that blend (which I do like better) I would probably want a bottle of this. Sexy dark musky caramel mmmmm!!

In the imp, to me, this is a sweet green leafy scent. I really mostly get the leaves-not even much wood-just a sweet green leaf scent. Oh yeah, on me this is SUCH a green leafy scent. Its nuts-barely any wood (which I usually amp) or lily. Just LEAVES! They actually don't smell dried to me-they smell green and wet. As it dries I get a touch more of the lily, though still no wood. Now on drydown I get the wood, particularly the cypress-it goes really...odd on me-sort of like armpit and pencil shavings. What an odd morph from how it started! Ended up drying fully to slightly sweet powder with a touch of woods--just BARELY there. This actually faded pretty fast. It was an interesting scent, and I imagine this could be the type that smells very different from person to person.

    Cranberry Cookie Bark Bath Oil

Guh. This is SO good. This sort of flew under my radar while the Yules were out (probably because I REALLY dont need more bath oil lol) but when I saw a decant of this up for sale I had to give it a shot. THAT WAS A GOOD DECISION. This is warm, delicious, foody bliss. I mostly get butter buttery shortbread and chocolate. Just a touch fruity (barely though) and no candy cane I noticed: mostly just moist delicious buttery chocolatey cookie heaven. I've been stressed studying for finals and wanting to give myself a warm comforting treat, and a hot bath, a good book (Mort in the Discworld series) and this bath oil were JUST wanted I needed to relax and feel all warm and happy inside

Hmmm. I love carnation and apple blossom, but amber tends to go VERY powdery on me. And with 5 ambers, there is a high chance one of them will go super powdery Oh wow, in the imp this is VERY ambery. Warm and golden. Maybe a touch of myrtle but not really any apple blossom or carnation. I definitely think this will be powdery on my skin. On my skin, golden ambery powder and undefined florals. Still dont really notice carnation or apple blossom. Yep, like clockwork-straight to sweet powder. Tis my curse with amber!

Oy vey. These blends always give me the weirdest effing dreams. I can only imagine what this shall bring. I've also been sleeping TERRIBLY lately, so maybe this will help with that. I hope. In the imp this is lavender/jasmine/bergamot blend, at least to my nose. Pleasant enough. Yep, same on my skin! Doesn't seem to change much. Very pleasant, as long as you like lavender(which I do). Will report back in the morning with how I slept. Ok-one note-this faded pretty fast-I didn't put it on that long before I went to bed and it was already very faint. However, I do think it MAY have helped me fall asleep a bit easier. It was the first night in a while I wasn't tossing and turning for an inordinate amount of time. I am going to actually give this another try to see if it holds up a second night. Also, I know I did dream, but not strong enough to remember-which is good, because usually I only remember the really disturbing ones. So I actually got a pretty decent sleep. I am going to test this again to see if the results were not an anomaly, because if this really does help me rest it may be worth picking up a bottle.

    Santo Domingo

Tobacco and bay rum to me in the imp. Sort of a clean tobacco scent. Very masculine, though not necessarily "manly" if that makes any sense. Hmm, at first it is tobacco and bay rum, but on my skin it goes sort of odd and chloriney-this occasionally happens to me and I still haven't figured out quite which notes do it. Without the chlorine note this would be a lovely clean tobacco/bay rum scent. You know what the tobacco in this reminds me of? Dia, from one of the Luper Aphrodite collections a while back. This is like, the boy version of that scent. On drydown this smells SUPER a lot like Dia The weird chloriney note went away. I wouldn't need a bottle of this because I have Dia, but if you always wanted to try Dia or want a slightly more masculine version, this is a good substitute!

    Tiki Princess V3

Very juicy and fruity in the imp-sort of like candy/fruity gum. Red and EXTREMELY juicy. Definitely some candy cherry in there. Ok, on my skin I definitely get some kind of tropical floral in there-the kind with big waxy leaves-that's the note i smell up close-from far away its sweet candy fruitsplosion, like a mash up of different starburts flavors. Ugh, I wish I could recognize the floral in this-its on, like, the tip of my tongue. I'm surprised others haven't mentioned it. This is not just fruit to me. This was a fun blend, but the mix of candy fruity and whatever floral that was just didn't quite go together for me.

    Roadhouse

I will have to be honest, I don't know what dandelion smells like...to be honest, I just don't quite know what to expect from this blend. Huh...in the imp this is a light weedy floral. A tiny touch of tobacco but I don't notice any hemp, hops, or booze. This almost smells...delicate. Like, a delicate kind of weed. Which I guess is sort of like a dandelion Ok, on my skin this is far less 'delicate'-a green and brown weedy scent. I get the tobacco in this, though I still don't really get booze. Maybe a touch of hops. Mostly though, this is an earthy scent with a bit of sweetness. Almost grassy? Hard to put my finger on. As it dries, it ended up smelling like soap. Not soapy, but like, a bar of generic soap out of the wrapper. So weird. Like some plain moderately manly soap my bf would use which is what this ended up on. What an odd blend. But maybe it's good that it didn't ACTUALLY smell like a filthy truck stop on me

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

Whiffs of cinnamon bark, almond, and spikenard surround a perfect fruit, whose scent is akin to a tamarind, with the grace of a fine grape, as warm and rich as a fresh fig, glistening red like pomegranate seeds, and as crisp as an apple. Ooo! I am so excited to try this one-so many notes in here I like! I'm one of the lucky peoples who has no reaction to cinnamon on my skin, and I looove it! If I recall correctly, when I first sniffed this back at will call after it came out I liked it, so I am so excited for a skin test! Mmmm yum! This smells so good in the imp-warm red fruits and a touch of rich cinnamon bark (though not zomg cinnamon!). A very warm scent. Oh yeah, this is sooo good! Sort of a candy grape scent + pom + other red fruits, with a touch of cinnamon bark. Maybe a hint of bitter fruit skin. As I mentioned before, this is a very warm scent. Ok, as it dries it goes way more grape candy-ish. I think another reviewer mentioned grape Koolaid, and I CAN TOTALLY see it! Sort of like a slightly earthy grape Koolaid scent Yeah, I sort of liked this before it went candy grape-I have enough candy scents ( ) so I really liked the wet/imp scent where this was rich and red fruity with warm cinnamon bark. I think on some people it would probably stick that way instead of going grape koolaid/candy. A nice blend though that I enjoyed testing! That imp/wet complexity is really wonderful. This also actually faded pretty fast on me-within a few hours it was practically gone.

    R'lyeh

Yergh. I'm not huge fan of aquatics or "dark" scents, so I don't hold out too much hope for his. In the imp, it's sort of what I'd expect-a dark, salty aquatic. Ohhhhh yeah, this is WAY salty on my skin. Super duper salty aquatic. Rather sharp. Oh, and did I mention salty? Yeah, as this dries it is SO salty. I don't know why it is going SO salty on me, but it really is one of the saltiest bpal aquatics I have tried. On full full drydown this went to a sort of cologney aquatic-not quite SO salty as before, but still definitely on the salty side. Damn, this was salty on me But the full drydown isn't bad, and I actually imagine this would smell nice on the right guy as a dark aquatic cologne, as long as he didn't amp the saltiness like I did.

    Polynesian Pop

Yes, in the imp this is definitely fizzy as other reviews have noted-I would say the strongest note is the fizzy ginger ale note, with a touch of sweet orange and light rum. Yummy! Hmm-this is like fizzy orange ginger ale candy. Very sweet and yummy-as it dries, I can smell the rum in there too. UGH-I swear, every time I try a luau lounge blend I just want to go and try to mix the drink! This is just sooooo yummy. It smells exactly like what the description says. Such a fantastic summer scent. Makes me want to fly to Hawaii like RIGHT NAO. This sort of dried down to a light orange ginger ale creamsicle. So yummy! I really am not sure I would ever wear this as perfume enough to justify a full bottle, but I may try to track down a wee partial. This is just such a fun, happy scent!

    Belle Vinu

Oooh I remember being so excited when this blend came out, but sniffing at will call and not really loving it. However, I am looking forward to giving it a full test. I love vanilla and peach, but wood scents are hit or miss on me. They tend to amp or go powdery or pencil shavings-y. In the imp, this is a bright sharp peach-y scent with a little vanilla. Maybe a touch of something floral? Not really noticing the woods. Hmmm..yeah on my skin it's a sharp floral peachy scent with a touch of wood. Really not noticing much wood. A lot more floral than I thought it would be. As it dries though it goes WAY woody-mostly the sandalwood tbh. Only a touch pencil shavings-y. Yeah, the more it dries, the more woody it gets. TOTALLY different from that sharp, bright floral peach scent I got at the start. As I said, my skin just amps wood. This ended up being a powdery wood scent on me. I'm so sad I lost that lovely peach floral-I think this could be so lovely on someone that doesn't amp wood like I do!

    The Sluggard

Hmm, I am not sure what to make of this-I don't know if i've sniffed bpal pear before. I like lavender. Gardenia is sort of hit or miss and i'm not huge on frankincense and wood, but this could be a really interesting blend. Hmm..in the imp it's sort of a sharp lavender/thistle-y scent. My prediction is, on my skin this will go to a lavender/powdery wood pretty quickly. Ok, actually on my skin this is not quite what I expected-a lot more pear and gardenia actually. A touch of lavender, but barely any wood or frankincense. Really a very white feeling scent-mostly the pear and gardenia. A little sharp, but very pretty. As it mellows, I get a bit more of the wood and lavender. As it fully dries down it sort of goes into a pretty, delicate light lavender scent with a touch of light woods. Almost like one of those fancy ~french milled soaps~ This does fade awfully fast-after a little over an hour it is practically all gone save for a whisper of lavender, wood and powder. This is something I would maybe want a low partial of, but couldn't see myself wearing too often. It really is very pretty, especially in that early wet stage where it is pear/gardenia loveliness!

    Malice

Huh, what an odd mix of notes. I love clove, ylang ylang is hit or miss, and I generally don't do great with patchouli or myrrh, but I am interested to see how these go together. Hmm..in the imp this is very sharp and mostly ylang ylang, with a touch of patchouli. Don't notice any clove and it's not too heavy on myrrh. Almost pungent. Ok, a bit more clove on my skin-this is still a bit sharp on me for some reason. Though it quickly mellows out on my skin as the patchouli and myrrh come to the forefront. Huh, it keeps morphing-each time I sniff it, it is something entirely different. For a minute it was like, mostly warm patchouli and clove and now it went to straight floral/ylang ylang. I like it better in warm patchouli clove mode! Yeah, in full drydown it's mostly a sort of odd floral/ylang-ylang scent with a touch of patchouli. Dried down a bit off and sour the way certain florals (usually rose) do on my skin. This then ended up going through a pencil-shavings-y stage, and ended up just drying down to sort of a woody powder. This blend was a morpher, so I'm not sure how reliable this review is.

    Snake Oil Bath Oil

I've had my decant of this for quite a while-I got it right when it came out. Personally, I have found that the bath oils don't always hold up that great (Pumpkin Pie, I'm looking atchu!) This smelled a teensy bit weird in the bottle, but honestly, it makes a damn fine bath. It's taken me a long while to warm up to Snake Oil. For a long time, I just didn't "get it". It has only been in the last couple of months were I finally have grown to not only like it, but really love it. Basically, if you are a Snake Oil fan, and have dreamed of a bathing in it...well, this is for you! It's maybe a little more woodsy than regular Snake Oil, but is basically our beloved Snake Oil in bath oil form! This may have just been my batch, but I found it a bit more oily than some of the other bath oils i've tried. Verdict is, this is just what it sounds like and that is a damn good thing! ETA: Like the above poster, I got boy approval on this as well! When I got into bed, my boy rolled over to cuddle and remarked how good I smelled!

    Juke Joint

Ok, I'll admit I'm not a huge bourbon fan, but this blend just sounds so fun! I doubt it will work on me as perfume but I just want to try it! Just reading the scent makes me want to take a trip to the race track in a comically oversized floppy hat. The bourbon is light here in the imp-there is a HEALTHY dose of sugar and a lovely splash of fresh mint. This is a bourbon I would drink Yeah, this is like, the kindest, most gentle bourbon I've ever sniffed on my skin The sugar and mint really help it from being too bourbon-y. This isn't a boozy blend either-it's like, the smell of bourbon minus the alcohol. Has almost a slight smoky feel to it, which happens to mix really well with the mint and generous helping of sugar. This gets VERY powdery as it dries. Sort of a sweet smoky powder. As I expected, this was a fun, refreshing blend. If you are scared of booze, it's really not here much at all-it's just the smoky bourbon flavor, not the boozy flavor, and it's diluted by the sweet sugar and fresh mint. May go powdery on drydown though, as it did to me.

    Blue Fire

I just tested Red Tide, which according to reviews is the "Red" version of Blue Fire. I'll be honest, as I said in my Red Tide Review, i'm not a huge gin fan. It's the one booze I just can't drink. Blueberry is very hit or miss on me...usually more on the miss side. But this blend sounds super fun and I can't wait to try it! Oh wow, yeah, in the imp this is WAY gin-y. Mostly gin and papaya actually-not quite as much blueberry. And definitely a blast of lemongrass. This actually smells better on my skin than it did in the imp-bright candy blueberry and sweet citrus...I actually don't notice the gin very much on my skin at all-it just gives the whole blend sort of a fizzy feeling. These luau blends kill me because they all make we want to try to make these as drinks This smells like it would taste SO good as mixed drink. Yep, this is mostly a blue candy fruity type scent-not actually that boozy. Like the kind of drink that tastes so good you have like 4 of them and try to stand up and the room starts spinning As it fully dries I pretty much lose the booze/fizziness altogether. It sort of just becomes a fruity candy scent-mostly blueberry, with a touch tart lemon and a hint of papaya. This blend didn't have to the longest stay for the record. It was definitely a fun blend. Sweet and fruity and tropical, it will definitely make you want to sit on the beach in Hawaii with a girly drink with an umbrella in it. I wouldn't wear this as perfume, but I greatly enjoyed testing it! Even if it made me want a vacation real bad!

    Red Tide

Ahhhh! I just saw the update that the luau lounge is coming down! So I have to test the Luau imps I have to make sure I don't need to throw in a last minute order! I am very excited to test this one-the only not in here i'm not a huge fan of is gin, but I can take it in small amounts. In the imp this is fizzy, fruity gin. Definitely get sweet raspberry and a touch of mango. Yeah, on me this is a VERY sweet syrupy raspberry + gin scent. The gin definitely gives it a fizzy feeling. Ok, thankfully I will not need to be making a last minute purchase of this. I'm just...not a huge fan of gin and half of this blend is definitely gin to me. Dried to a sort of powdery raspberry gin blend. Lost a bit of that fizziness it had at the beginning. Was yummy though, and a fun blend. It sill be sad to see this line go

    Dragon's Musk

Hmm! I am curious as to which musks are in this! Musks can be so different! Some I love (light/white musks) some I don't do as well with (dark/black musk). Hmm...in the imp I can't really tell-it's a musky, perfumey dragon's blood scent. Definitely doesn't seem like the musks are TOO dark. Yeah, this is like a perfumey dragon's blood scent to me. A bit sweeter than I expected. Honestly, not THAT musky. As it dries, it does go more musky I suppose. I would swear this has amber it in the way it has gone quite powdery. Overall this is a sweet, powdery dragon's blood scent. A bit perfumey and a bit musky-maybe a bit richer than the usual Dragon's Blood blend. I am just not a huge Dragon's Blood fan, but if you are, this is worth checking out.

    Pomegranate V

Hmm..there are notes in this I really love, like pom, CARNATION, cardamom and pepper, and then my doom note vetiver...not sure how this will end up on me. In the imp, this is so weird to my nose. Like two totally different blends mashed together-one is a sweet red fruity floral kind of scent and the other is dark opium/vetiver doom. They don't quite mesh well together for me. Urgh, yeah, its like a mix of sickly sweet pom/red fruits and vetiver. Vetiver is just such a doom note on me I really feel like without the vetiver and opium tar I might have loved this! There's something almost cough-syrupy/robinussiny to me about this. The drydown was a sweet powdery fruity/vetiver scent. This was such an odd blend on my skin. If you like vetiver and pom this is worth testing out, but vetiver haters beware-you definitely notice it in this blend!

    Whoso List To Hunt

In the imp this is soft brown musk and rose. A very pleasant, warm combination. Rose can be hit or miss on me, but this smells beautiful in the imp. Soft and delicate. Oh, this is so pretty! Warm soft rose. The brown musk goes really freaking well with rose. I barely notice the bark and moss, but they are there and I think help keep the rose from going to strong or sour. Warm brown musk and soft pink rose. This was very wearable and pleasant rose scent. The warm brown musk/bark/moss help it from being OMGROSE! I don't think I would need a full bottle of this but I would be all over a partial.

    Nanshe

Well, I have been sleeping terribly lately, so I am curious as to how this will affect me. The other Somnium blends I have tried gave me weirdass dreams... In the imp this is definitely lemon and lavender. Which is fine. Not like OMG THIS SMELLS GREAT, but pleasant enough. I am not testing this blend as a perfume, but as a sleep experience. Yerp on my skin its sharp astringent-y lemon/lavender. Actually, sort of reminds me of lemony flutter Lush hand cream O_o OK morning after. Yet another Somnium blend gives me weird-ass dreams! It's crazy! I had the most vivid, unnerving dream about being in class and everything I said started arguments with other students or the professor and people were laughing at me and ripping on me! It was awful! These blends give me a curious look into my subconscious, but I prefer peaceful sleeps!

    Snow White v2

Like many others, Snow White is one of my favorite bpal blends! I am so excited to test this, just to see what my beloved could have been! Holy crap, wow, in the imp TOTALLY different. Not bad, but so so different from what we got. It's a sweet minty blend. Very pleasant. Reminds me of other winter-y minty bpals. Oh yes, on my skin this is a very sweet white mint with a touch of vanilla and a bit of light pine-y-ness. Very lovely! SO different from the finished product. I am so glad Snow White ended up the way it did, but this is a lovely lovely scent and I think could have been another great Yule. Definitely smells like a winter scent. Honestly, I am totally digging this scent! However, sometimes the pine is a bit much for me. If it had no pine, I would be falling over myself to get a bottle. Not that the pine is overwhelming, the sweet mint in this is just soooo perfect! This is really a great blend and it is too bad it didn't get made (as something other than my beloved Snow White!). Fully dried down to a lightly powdery sweet mint-didn't notice the pine so much on full drydown. Absolutely a lovely blend!

    Devil's Claw

Oh dear god, the other reviews of this are terrifying me-I think I saw greasy bacon and cat pee. And worst of all vetiver! It's my doom note! To me, in the imp, all I smell is vetiver. Smoky, charred vetiver. Same on my skin. ZOMGVETIVER-a bit sweet and smoky. I'll be honest, it is hard for me to tell whatever else might be in there because vetiver is such an overwhelming scent to me. Yeah, this was basically a straight vetiver scent on me If you like vetiver though, check this out! No bacon or cat pee
