I have never been a huge fan of Embalming Fluid as a perfume. It makes a spectacular bath oil. I should start by saying what a huge fan of BPAL bath oils I am. They are amazingly luxurious both as a bath oil and I also love rubbing it on at the end of a shower and rinsing it off-either way you are left with super soft, lightly scented skin. The scent of this is wonderful-not too strong, not too light and smells exactly how it sounds-lemony aloe, musk and green tea. Bright and soothing and lovely! Very glad this is permanent catalogue! It will be amazing for summer!

In the imp this is a pleasant, classic floral scent. To me, smelled like mostly tea rose and something fresh and green. Yep, on my skin this is a warm, lovely tea rose scent. I detect some spice in there as well. To me, this is very elegant and refined. Proper ladies sitting in a parlor sipping tea and whatnot. This dries beautifully. Doesn't go soapy or sour or sharp or powdery. Just a rich, slightly spiced tea rose. Wonderful! Rose scents are hit or miss on me, and this one is a winner! I still don't actually own a good bpal rose blend-will have to test this next to Harlot to see which one I need more!

Ooo! Got this as a frimp from the lab and am SO excited to try it! Sounds so yummy (I need to try mixing this as a real drink! ) Definitely a booze blackberry/black tea scent in the imp. The ouzo is not too strong. This is way yum- Not sure how it will be on my skin tho... Yum-on my skin, this really smells like what it sounds like-blackberry booze, a touch of rum (NOT super strong rum, like in Upa Upa) and black iced tea. Just a touch of ouzo, as I mentioned before. Not super sugary sickly sweet. Almost has a dry feeling to it. This was pleasant and nice-not overwhelmingly boozy, nice not too sweet blackberry scent, lovely black ice tea note...I enjoyed testing this a lot. I don't think I would wear it (it also faded very fast on me) but it's a lovely blend and I am dead serious about trying to mix this as a real drink one day!

Magnificent three-faced Goddess of Magic, the Dark Moon and the Crossroads. She is the Mother of Witches, and the midnight baying of hounds is her paean. Her compassion is evidenced in her role as Psychopomp for Persephone, and her wrath manifests as Medea’s revenge. Deep, buttery almond layered over myrrh and dark musk. Whee! I am excited to sniff this one-I love almond scents! I will admit, myrrh is hit or miss with me (it's usually ok in small doses) and I tend to prefer light musk over dark musk, but this just sounds so lovely! This has that cherry/almond smell that almond blends tend to have. I don't know why I get cherry but sometimes I do. This reminds me of another bpal almond blend-Queen of Sheba-I think it's a similar almond. Maybe there is a touch of myrrh/dark must, but I am not really noticing them. On my skin this is definitely that cherry/almond scent, with maybe a touch of something darker underneath, but only the slightest whisper. Mostly this is just rich, sweet almond. However as this dries, I get a weird undertone-it's either the myrrh or musk (probably the musk). I can't think of the right word to describe-not quite chorine-y, but similar. Just something off. It's probably the dark musk-my skin sometimes just disagrees with it As it dries, it gets SUPER powdery. Sweet powder with a touch of almond. Ends up staying powdery This would have been a nice blend and I can see it being great on other people, it just didn't get along with my skin.

This smells clean, fresh, and slightly herbal and cologney. Like men's soap or shampoo. Yeah, on my skin this smells like fresh, ozoney-herbal cologney men's shampoo. There's a pleasant touch of sweetness in here as well. This is very nice and unisex-would smell lovely on a girl or a guy. This dries down to a lovely sweet herbal powdery scent. Definitely goes powdery on drydown, but it doesn't lose it's base scent entirely which sometimes happens in powdery blends. However, it loses a bit of that cologne-yness that the wet scent had. You know, I probably would not go out and buy a bottle of this, but if a bottle fell in my lap, I would definitely keep it. I don't think I have anything like this. It is a lovely fresh spring and summer scent!

Gah, for some reason when I first sniff this it's like a get a nosefull of rubbing alcohol O_o Very sharp. Not sure what note is giving me that impression. I do get a bit of rose underneath it, but I can't get over the rubbing alcohol smell. How bizarre. Thankfully, this second this is on my skin that harsh rubbing alcohol smell goes away completely. This ends up smelling like soft rose and...apple blossom on my skin? WTF is with my nose. Either way, this is absolutely lovely on my skin-a soft, fluttery rose scent-not too strong or sour. On full drydown this ended up being a pleasant, sweet soft pinkish rose scent. Seriously, the minute it was on my skin the rubbing alcohol scent went away. This probably isn't my favorite rose bpal, but it is super pretty and nice.

Very very juniper-y in the imp. A bit sweet (not sugary though). Getting some cypress-not much chamomile or rose. Yes, on my skin this is super juniper-y with some cypress. Fresh and clean and a bit sweet. Still not much chamomile or rose, at least while this is still wet on my skin. Maybe a little juniper-cleaning-products-y. As this dries, it goes WAY more cypress-y/woody and less juniper-y. Also, the rose comes out now (still no chamomile really)-the more it dries, the less woody and more rosey this becomes. This is a huge morpher on my skin. On full drydown this is a soft woods/rose scent. I pretty much lost all the juniper. As I said before, this was a HUGE morpher on me and I get the feeling it could be very different from person to person. Not something I would buy, but an interesting and pleasant scent experience.

In the imp this is a sharp lemony/spiced cakey scent. Sort of foody, but not zomg foodz. On my skin this has a dry, dusty spice feel to it-not dirty dusty, but dry dusty and the citrus-y scent is almost like dried lemon or orange peel. This is all over a cake scent, that is also a dry cake scent-dry meaning not buttery/moist. I know I keep using the word dry-I don't mean it in a bad way-this really smells lovely and I just don't know what other word to use to describe this scent. As it dries more, there is almost like a candied citrus scent mixed with those warm spices. Or maybe candied ginger...I can definitely see where other reviewers got gingerbread in this. On drydown, I sort of lose a lot of the foodiness of this blend-I don't really get any citrus (citrus generally tends to get eaten on my skin) and I even lose a lot of the cake-iness. It is mostly a dry spices scent. Overall, this dries down to a dry spice/ginger scent, with maybe a touch of cake. It's most interesting in its wet/first application stages, while I still get that candied citrus scent in there. Not something I would have bought a bottle of, but a nice scent I am glad I could experience.

In the imp this is a sharp jasmine. Crystalline is a good way to describe it. But it is VERY jasminey...I like jasmine, but usually only in small doses or mixed with something else...this may be a bit too jasminey on its own. Oof-on my skin this really is a sharp jasmine scent >_o. Heady and sharp and ZOMG JASMINE. Jasmine haters beware-this is a jasmine heavy scent. And very very floral. I don't really get any "spices of the orient" though I do get pleasant musk. This does mellow out moderately quickly to a soft, sweet jasmine floral. Not quite so sharp heady. It's pleasant, but a bit uninteresting. Overall, this just didn't work for me, but it you are a jasmine fan or enjoy sharp, crystalline florals, then this is worth checking out.

Hrmm. I love orange blossom, but generally can only take patchouli in small doses. This smells delicious in the imp! Sweet creamy vanilla orange-blossom. Barely even notice the patchouli. Omg, I hope it stays like this on my skin!!! OMG this is so yum! Sort of like a darker, more sexy version of Tweedledee. Warm, creamy, vanilla orangey goodness-the patchouli is way understated in this. Gorrrgeous! Haha, this really is sexy Tweedledee to me (which is sort of a horrifying image-though thanks to rule 34 I am sure the fanart is out there!). It does have a period where it gets a little weird/chloriney while it dries on my skin if I get my nose to close to it.. On full drydown it does go a bit powdery, but it loses that weird chloriney smell. Becomes sweet vanilla/orange with a tinge of patchouli/darkness. A really great blend! If you are scared of patchouli but love orange blossom, I still would give this one a shot!

Ooh, I love me some coconut and benzoin, however patchouli and I dont always get along. Hopefully this is more coconut than patchouli. Phooey-in the imp this is all patchouli and sweet benzoin. I don't even notice coconut Ok, on my skin I get a bit more of the coconut note-however, this is still mostly patchouli-and its the kind of patchouli that sort of smells like pencil shavings on my skin Argh, it's too bad, because I do enjoy the coconut note. The pencil shavings-y smell goes away as this settles, but it is still mostly a sweet patchouli smell. The further away I am from my hand, the more it smells coconutty, the closer I am to my hand, the more it smells like patchouli. Unfortunately, this was too patchouli heavy for me. On absolute full drydown it actually ends up being more coconutty, but it takes a while to get to that point. Also dries down rather powdery. Not for me!

In the imp this is...SURPRISE! Tea Rose!!! Smells just like what you would expect. I don't really get a "twisted" or "blackened" sense from this. Just, tea rose. Yep-this is the same on my skin-I classic, classy rose scent. Not too strong or sour, this plays quite nice on my skin. This mellows out a as it dries on my skin-maybe goes a wee bit soapy, but is mostly just a pleasant, pretty, rich pink rose scent. This wasn't my favorite gc rose scent (I think Harlot and Othello hold those titles), but this is a great rose blend. Not too strong or sour, very classic and beautiful.

Holy shit does this smell good fresh out of the wrapping. Warm rich delicious spiced cider--I just want to puree it, heat it up and drink it. Makes my whole bathroom spell like rich delicious apple cider goodness. The soap is high quality as usual-it doesn't have a foamy lather-it has a rich, creamy luxurious feeling lather, though it melts very quickly. Highly HIGHLY recommend this soap if you like apple and or cider. Another amazing bpal/villainess soap! Can't wait to get some of the new Yule soaps!

Ooo! I am excited to try this! Bpal rose can be hit or miss on me, but when it's a hit it's so lovely! Except for mahogany, I think I am a fan of every note in this blend, though sometimes jasmine can be a bit intense. Hmm...In the imp this is mostly jasmine actually...jasmine and rose, but the jasmine is really overwhelming the rose. I hope on my skin the other notes come out! I like jasmine, but usually not as the main event. Ok, on my skin it is still definitely mostly jasmine/rose, however the balance between them is a bit more even. I don't even notice any of the other notes-maybe the vanilla giving this some creaminess, but no mahogany or coffee for sure. This dries down a a jasmine-y vanilla scent. Very pretty. I still get a bit of the rose, but it never goes sour or weird as roes tends to do. Very smooth. If you are looking for a sweet jasmine scent, with vanilla and rose, this is the blend for you. Not something I need a bottle of, but after the initial blast of OMG JASMINE, this dries down to something very lovely. I never noticed any of the other notes in this.

I love me some peach, so I am quite excited to try this. It has been on my want-to-try list forever. I will admit I'm not a huge patchouli fan, but I have liked it in other bpal blends. Darn, in the imp though it's like 90% patchouli with a touch of peach and musk. Noo! Yeah, this is SOOO patchouli-ish on me when I first apply. I get that yummy peach note underneath, and thankfully as this dries the peach note comes out a lot more! Yum! I'll be honest-I wouldn't ever get this because the patchouli is too strong for me. For my peach fix, I will go for Fae. However, if Fae was sort of too sweet for you and you really like patchouli, this is a GREAT peach and patchouli blend-golden and lovely. It does dry pretty powdery on me, but that may just my skin. I tend to turn amber into powder.

In the imp, I don't even notice the dragon's blood that much-this is mostly lily of the valley and lilac. VERY floral, but not too sharp. Pretty and sweet. Oh wow, on my skin this is STRONG! This is a very strong lilac and lily blend. I don't hate either of those notes, but neither of them are in my favorites either. Florals florals florals. More dragon's blood-y as it dries down. This blend is pretty much what it sounds like-dragon's blood, lily and lilac. Very true to that description-so if that sounds up your alley, you have to check this out.

Oh dear god vetiver. I have been on a quest to try ALL of the gc scents, and I keep coming across all of the vetiver scents I have avoided for so long. Vetiver is my doom note. I have never met a vetiver blend I liked. In the imp this is vetiver and something sour-maybe the lemon rind? Not quite as "charred" as other vetiver blends are. What a weird blend-I really get a LOT of lemon rind in this, which didn't expect. The vetiver kind of gets lost in the background. I don't even know how to describe this, because I don't really smell sandalwood either. It's sort of a weird, burnt, lemony smell...O_o This ended up being sort of a soapy smell on me. It's interesting that others say this didn't morph much because on me it morphed TREMENDOUSLY. At least it wasn't vetiver doom, but there was nothing in this blend that appealed to me.

Hmm...ylang ylang is sometimes too intense for me, and grave loam is definitely not a note I usually enjoy, but I love me some violet. Hmm..in the imp this is mostly ylang ylang, a touch of violet, and something sort of sharp/sour/salty. Just sniffing this from the imp, I have the feeling it may go WAY powdery on my skin. At first I get a blast of that sharpness...but it quickly starts to fade. I mostly get ylang ylang and violet from this. Not noticing the frankincense too much and don't smell grave loam at all. After a few minutes this does what I thought it might-goes to straight sweet violety powder. And this is what I am left with. Sweet violety powder. Meh.

This is a salty ozoney/aquatic scent + wet soggy leaves in the imp. Unnghh. Very salty salty salty on my skin. Super salty water and leaves. Thankfully, after a bit of time on my skin the saltiness fades away. Then I am left with a pleasant soft foggy wet leaves smell. Very pretty and subdued. On full FULL drydown, it sort of becomes an aquatic cologney scent. I can see how others would get davidoff cool water from it. This is the most pleasant of this blend's phases to me, but it still isn't really something I would wear.
-
SO much of this sounds good-amber, musk, carnation...but vetiver is SUCH a doom note on me. In the imp, ALL I smell is vetiver. It overpowers all of the other notes. Same on my skin. All I get is the charred vetiver note. NOTHING else. Same on full drydown. On me, unfortunately, this was just straight vetiver To the swaps pile you go, little imp.

Hmm...this is so weird to me when I sniff it from the imp...it smells SALTY. Like salty salty flowers. I have no idea what note is doing that...I skimmed through the other reviews to see if I was crazy, but I see someone else got vinegar so there must be some note that some of us pick up salty. Not a clue which. Ok, at first I get that BLAST of salty/vinegar-y ness, but then it calms down a bit, under that saltyness is a pleasant hazy pastel-y floral. It takes a few minutes actually, for the saltyness to fully dry out and fade away, and then I am felt with this lovely dreamy periwinkle hazy floral scent. Very beautiful, romantic and sophisticated. Has sort of a dreamy quality. While I enjoyed the drydown of this, I would never be able to buy a bottle. That salty scent was just too weird for me. Like the other poster who got that vinegar smell, I wish I knew which note did it!

Gahh...this is SO green @_@ I shouldn't be surprised, but it's like, omg blast in the face green. Green, a bit juicy, very leafy and there has to be some kind of lettuce note in this. Maybe cucumber as well (which I hate >_<)? Yeah-on my skin this is SO green. Take every green note and mash em in a blender. A light-medium green. I think the only other blend that reaches this level of greeness was Green Phoenix, which actually turned my stomach. This is a bit more palatable. Wet grass, green leaves, and lettuce mostly to my nose when I first apply this. Sometimes I get touches of soapiness, sometimes I get touches of sweet cucumber. It's just..soo..green. Green lovers-this is for you. It's just not my thing @_@

Ok, my bf and I just started watching True Blood, so in my head this scent is what it should smell like while Beel and Sookeh are wandering around the swamps. Oof-in the imp this is thick steamy HEADY floral-floral haters, beware, this is WAY floral. I'm not a fan of aquatics, but thankfully here this one is not salty as some aquatics tend to be. Oh yeah, on my skin this is thiccccckkkkk heady florals-magnolia/gardenia I believe. Very heavy and thick. This is just not a "me" blend-I like my florals soft and sweet and this is sooo heady and heavy. However, Beth totally captured the idea of what she was trying to invoke here and it is definitely worth a sniff just for the scent experience! Would probably be great in an oil/scent burner as well.

NGL, I had to look up what oleander was :x One of the most poisonous garden plants you say? In the imp this is an mmmmm-worthy sweet/spicy floral musk! Rawr! Smells great in the imp! Mmm...this smells totally delicious on my skin-it's a bit hard to describe-sweet and spicy and musky and rich-the floral here is hard to explain-I just can't put my finger on it...unnghhh this is such a sexy scent though. Just the right amount of everything. Even that touch of mandarin...it's all there, so well blended. You know what this weirdly reminds me of a little bit? Pothon Meter...not sure why exactly...just has the same rich depth. This does dry a wee bit powdery, which is prolly from the musk. The longer it's on my skin, the more powdery it gets tbh. I would have to do some reappylying to keep this vibrant and yummy. But it IS such a sexy scent-I could definitely see myself getting a bottle of this.

I'll be honest, in the imp I mostly get star anise and thyme. Maybe a bit of musk and a wee baby hint of cocoa, but like, no pom at all. 85% anise. On my skin this is definitely more of a mix of notes-I finally get that pom note, a LOT more cocoa, a touch of tobacco, still a LOT of anise and less thyme. This is a very interesting, unusual blend. I can't think of anything else like it. The more this dries, the more I really like it-the mix of cocoa and anise is really interesting over the backdrop of pom, and the touches of each of the other notes make this a really well rounded, unique scent that I find myself enjoying more and more. This sort of dries down to a powdery red musk/cocoa scent. This blend is quite a morpher. My favorite phase was when this was wet on my skin after a few minutes. The wet imp smell and the drydown were just meh for me. However, this is a super unique bpal and I am so glad I tested it.
