I remember seeing and sniffing this proto long before I even knew there would be a tp inquisition this year. I was so excited because even though I love Sugar Skull, I almost never wear it because it is the only bpal that I have ever worn where I got a negative reaction because it was so strong. Ginger Skulls is different from Sugar Skull, but has a similar vibe that is not quite so intense. This is a soft, super sugary ginger candies scent with a touch of tart pear sniffing it from the bottle--looove it! Yep, this is lovely on my skin as well! Definitely a similar vibe to Sugar Skull, but not so strong. Love the ginger candy note-and the zingy tartness of the pear! This smells amazing! Yep, total love! Wore this all day-it did need a few reapplications, but gawd, it smells good. So happy I found something similar to Sugar Skull that is a bit more wearable for me!

Wad Of Chewed Up Strawberry Bubblegum
Suu4LC replied to angelicruin's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
My imp is labeled "Wad of Chewed Up Bubblegum"-as others have noted, I'm not sure that means it doesn't actually have strawberry or if they were all labeled that way. Hmm...sniffing from the imp I don't really notice any strawberry-basically smells like sticky pink bazooka joe! Nom!! I used to love that gum as a kid Ok, you know, maybe there is a touch of strawberry in there? Actually, on my skin this is a little less bazooka joe and a little closer to Bubble Tape, another gum I used to love as a kid. Yep, this is totally pink Bubble Tape!!! Hahaha, I haven't even thought about this stuff in years! Love it! Yep, this is Bubble Tape in perfume form. Such a fun, awesome blend. Totally love it and will definitely hold onto the imp! Too bad this isn't full size bottle purchasable-I totally would have nabbed a bottle! -
Very sharp, cologney aquatic/metallic blend when I sniff it from the imp. Oh yeah-very sharp ozoney/aquatic cologne blend on my skin. Almost like walking by the men's fragrance section of a dept store. Yep! that is totally what it is and totally what it dries down to! A sort of, generic men's aquatic dept store cologne. Would be a nice gift to a guy you want to introduce to bpal who may be a little wary of scents. Pleasant, but nothing omg exciting.

What an odd smell-syrupy sweet molasses with a touch of sweet/wine blood and a bit of dirt. Far sweeter than I would have thought, and maybe with a touch of spice. Honestly, I find this to be like 95% sweet molasses. There's a touch of wine maybe? I don't even get the blood note anymore on my skin. And barely any dirt. Definitely some sassafras or cinnamon maybe? Yeah, maybe sweet molasses and sassafras! This is actually quite nice!!! Yep, I really like this-too bad it wasn't offered full size-I totally would have picked one up. Sweet molasses with a touch of sassafras! Love it!

Got a frimp of this at the WCWC's Halloween event! Squee! I agree with the other reviewers that get a fizzy lemon-lime scent-maybe with a squeeze of orange in there as well when I sniff it from the imp. A bubbly citrus scent! Yep-fizzy lemon-lime-(orange?) scent-sweet and bubbly. Maybe, ginger ale underneath? There is a sort of weird note underlying this...hard to describe. I don't know what it is...but it's weird and off-putting. The longer this is on my skin, the more I lose that bright fresh citrusy goodness and get the weird underlying note of something...I just don't know how to describe it (maybe something ozoney?). This blend ended up being a disappointment for me. It really smells great and fizzy and yay in the imp, but went weird on my skin, and then disappeared really quickly into a generic sweetish scent.

Got this is as a lab frimp! The description would never make me think this would be a ME scent, but it just sounds so interesting! I remember being fascinated by it even when it was first released, so I am looking forward to trying this. Beauuuutiful in the imp! A soft, sweet smoky scent. I agree with the other reviews that smell a sweet honeyed beeswax. Absolutely lovely, with just the right amount of soft, gray/golden smoke. But honestly, I find it to be more of a creamy/sweet/beeswaxy scent base with the smoke overlaying it. Wow, this is lovely on my skin as well! A sweet creamy honeyed beeswax scent with just a touch of smokiness. Overall, this is an amazing blend I did not think I would love as much as I would. Mostly sweet creamy honey/beeswax. The touch of smoke keeps it from being TOO sweet or cloying. If you are scared off by the smoke, don't be! However if you are looking for a really smokey or incensey type blend, this blend is probably not what you are looking for.

I swapped for a bottle of this on a whim-the only of the Poms I had tested had been Pom II, which I really enjoyed, so I figured I'd give this one a shot, since I like all three of the notes in it. In the bottle I mostly get jasmine. While I like jasmine, I really hope it's still a Pom blend and not a jasmine blend and that the jasmine calms down on my skin! Nooooooooooooooo. On my skin this is SO jasminey! I can smell the pom underneath the jasmine, but it is buried soo deep under the heady heady jasmine. Again, I don't dislike jasmine, but sometimes it's just too much, and here, unfortunately, it's too much. Drydown is the same. Wayyy too much jasmine Almost straight jasmine. Not enough pom

I get mostly a hazy lily scent. Didn't really notice the rose in the imp, though it usually pops out on my skin. Ok, on my skin this is a soft rose/lily scent. Hmm..this kind of floral might be a bit old-ladyish. Though it doesn't go stinky or cloying-just soft and sweet and somewhat ethereal. Honestly, on drydown this is sort of a generic light floral. It's just sort of meh. Nothing really distinguishable about it. It's pleasant and the rose did not go sour on me, I just would never see myself reaching for this when there are so many other unique bpal blends.

Oh god, the label for this is too adorable. Lilith is just too freakin cute! To me, in the bottle, this smells like sweet strawberry cake :x Yum! You know, on my skin this smells a bit like a sweeter, strawberrier version of floating brain...sweet sweet sweet pink strawberry sponge cake and ah, the rose is coming out on my skin-it goes well with the strawberry, though maybe it's a bit too rosey...the strawberry note is a bit hit or miss on me-its a pink candy strawberry note to me (not like the red strawberry in Strawberry Moon)-it can be a bit plasticy. The longer this is on my skin, the more the rose comes to the front and the strawberry/cakey scent moves to the back. On full drydown the rose completely goes away and this is all strawberry cake. Oddly, I never noticed tea in this. To me, it was moist pink strawberry sponge cake. I still will need to test this next to I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain, because it just seems so similar to me!

Very deep and dark-sort of a thick black aquatic. On my skin I get a lot more of the clove and pepper, which is nice because those are two notes I love. Honestly, I'm not a fan of darker blends, but this is actually kind of nice. It all goes together really well. The aquatic notes aren't too salty, and the clove/pepper spice up the earthiness so its not straight up mud or dirt. Then everything is cloaked in a deep myrrh. I mean, this isn't my thing, but I actually really like it and feel like it is one of those blends that if it was LE would be HUGELY popular, but because it's GC it may fly under the radar. This mellows out quite a bit on my skin and becomes a warm but dark earthy/incensey scent (loses its aquaticness), with a touch of spice. Not something I would purchase, but I enjoyed testing this and may even keep the imp. Really think people should give this one a shot!

In the imp, this is a sweet pink rose to me, with the barest, faintest hint of cinnamon. BPAL rose is totally hit or miss on my skin (it goes sort of sour) but this smells absolutely lovely in the imp. Very similar on my skin-sweeeet pink rose and the teensiest dabble of cinnamon. This actually is sitting beautifully on my skin. No sourness or old-ladyness. Just wafts of soft pink roses and a touch of spice. Reallly gorgeous. Seriously, I think this is my favorite rose bpal blends. O_o It never goes weird on me-just a beautiful sweet, fresh pink rose bouquet with a whisper of spices. Absolutely gorgeous!!! Very romantic to me. Will add it to the bottle list!

Oh lordy. I'm a total foody, so when I saw the description for this I knew I would have to try it. I love the lab's cheesecake and ice cream notes. Rum can be iffy, but since this virgin booze, maybe it won't be too intense! Mmm..in the bottle this is rummy cheesecakey yumminess! Omnom! This is definitely yummy on my skin-I really am enjoying the crust note and the rum is not super boozy, which is usually my problem with booze. The only reason I am not 100% on this is because from far away, it smells a LOT like Beaver'versary on me. Up close I can tell the difference, but from a normal distance, the cheesecake note appears to be the same... Ok, I went back and sniffed Beaverversary and they definitely are different. Anne Beany does seem to be an amalgamation of other bpals, though I plasticy if I really stick my nose in it, but mostly it's just omnomnomlicious. I totally recommend this to foody lovers, or if you like scents like Beaverversary and Detestable Putrescence. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to keep this but I am definitely going to hold onto it for now and see how much I wear it :x

You know, this has been on my list of gcs to try forever-I can't believe I am just getting to it now! In the imp this is a cocoa + sandalwood, though I definitely get that dark myrrh underneath. I love the sweet, soft cocoa note, but I think the sandalwood and myrrh may overpower it for me. Woods especially tend to amp on my skin. Mmm, I really do adore that cocoa note-it smells lovely on my skin-however, almost instantly it gets swallowed up by the sandalwood The beautiful cocoa is struggling to peek out, but is just totally suffocated by ZOMG WOOD. I can see how on some people the mix of cocoa and sandalwood would be absolutely beautiful, but meh, I'm just not a huge woods fan and this just feels a bit too amped to me...but I am going to see how it settles. Overall, this really was too sandalwood heavy for me. I adored the cocoa note, but the sandalwood/myrrh got in the way. I can see this being gorgeous on others though.

Ugh, I am SO excited to try this blend. I am SUCH a foody and this sounds like heaven to me. Weenie foodies and I tend to do so well together. Ok, sniffing this from the imp, whichever reviewer it was that said this smelled like captain cruch berries, that is exactly what I got from it O_o Well, that crunchberry smell over a buttery pastry smell instead of a dry cereal smell...I'll be interested to see how this goes on my skin... Haha, yep, on my skin this is like a crunchberry pastry Like someone made super sugared up crunchberry frosting and slathered it over a flaky, buttery pastry. Very yummy! As this calms down it gets WAY less "crunchberry-esque" and becomes more of a pink, fruity icing kind of smell. Very very yummeh. I really like this blend a lot. I am a bit on the fence about it ONLY because I do have a lot of pink/foody kind of blends, but this is an absolutely delicious blend and I may end up with a bottle.

I've never had much luck with the pumpkin patches, so I'm excited for the poms! This one basically sounds like it consists of all notes I like, so I can't wait to give it a sniffie! Mmm..this is lovely in the imp-a pinkyreddy fruity, sparkling type of blend with a splash of fresh citrus. Absolutely beautiful! On first application to my skin this a blast of candy fruityness-as it starts to dry it becomes more complex-each time I sniff it I get different notes-sometimes it's the lemon verbena, sometimes the pink lime (such a great note), sometimes red pom, sometimes grapefruit...the only thing I'm kind of worried about is that the white musk is going to turn this whole blend powdery within a few minutes... Well, this doesn't go straight to sweet powder, though hmm...it is quite a bit powdery. It really holds its scent for the most part pretty well-it gets a little powdery and loses some of the sparkle, but not to such an annoying degree and not so fast that it would need to be reslathered constantly. Though it does fade a bit faster than I normally like and would need to be reapplied more frequently than This is a really gorgeous blend-particularly wet and when freshly applied. This would definitely be great locket scent. Also, this is another of the weenies this year (like Unsteady Governess) which feel like spring/summer scents to me :x I wouldn't really wear this so much in winter/fall!
-
I tend to love the lab's white tea scents, and I adore violet (though this is leaf, which isn't quite the same) so I knew I had to try this one. It sounds so lovely! Ooh, very pretty in the imp-bright white tea, maybe a squeeze of citrus, a waft of violet and a touch of greenery. It's a tad bit astringent, but I can't wait to see how this goes on my skin. Not the kind of scent I would expect from the Weenies! Hmm...a bit astringenty on my skin and a bit perfumey. Sort of hard to describe. It's a bit sharper than I would have liked. On my skin it is mostly sharp white tea with a bit of a lemony/astringent/green kick. Very very fresh and clean smelling. Overall, I like this blend-i'm not sure I have anything quite like it. Most of the bpal "clean" smells haven't really worked on me, and I think this is a really refreshing spring/summer scent. This might be my favorite of the bpal white tea blends. The more I sniff it, the more it grows on me. One thing to note-this doesn't have the best staying power. After a few hours it was completely gone, so it would definitely need to be reapplied on a semi-frequent basis.

I will admit I have never had much luck with bpal pumpkin (despite my general love of pumpkin) but this is just too neat sounding of a blend not to try! O_o Whoa, in the imp this was NOT what I expected at all. It's not "candyfloss"-y it all. It reminds me quite a bit of bptp's pumpkin pie bath oil actually. Like spiced pumpkin pie...don't notice any blackberry either. Yep...on my skin this smells almost identical to bptp's pumpkin pie bath oil...maybe a touch of blackberry, but mostly rich, heavily spiced pumpkin pie. It's nummy for sure, but not really what I was looking for. Very heavy on a cinnamon type scent. But I do get more of the blackberry as it dries. Honestly, while I do like this kind of scent, I only like it in small doses and only around autumn, so I definitely won't need a bottle of this. I still have a ton of Pumpkin Pie Bath Oil left that I can use if I'm really jonesing for this type of scent.

When I saw this scent, I knew I at least had to try it-I am a huge foody fan and I love coconut, amaretto, and saffron, however the lab's cherry tends to not work well on me. This just sounds so yummy! Oh wow, in the imp this is STRONG candy cherry. Like cherry jello on steroids...no, it's reminding me of something else...cherry lifesavers! That's totally what this reminds me of-my dad used to love getting the rolls of only cherry lifesavers. That is exactly what this smells like in the imp O_o OH, or one of those little cherry/vanilla-y tootsie rolls!!! @_@ Ahhh! Cherry candy overload! Thankfully, on my skin this calms down DRASTICALLY and I get much more of the coconut/ameratto and saffron, which are lovely and creamy and sweet. The more this dries down, the more I like this and the cherry nestles down and behaves itself quite well. Sweet and creamy, ALL of the notes just blend together SO well in this one. I cannot believe how amazing it smells on my skin. The more it dries, the more the amaretto moves to the front and the cherry to the back. This was the kind of blend I wanted to try because I loooved the description but never thought it would actually smell good on me. I am delighted that I was wrong! This smells lovely on me. I don't believe I have any bpal amaretto scents and I am thrilled to find a cherry that doesn't go weird on me! This will have to go on my bottle list!

I have yet to find a red musk that really works for me, so the reviews on this have me pretty excited! Hmm...in the imp this smells to me sort of like a more patchouli-ish snake oil. I'm not a huge patchouli fan, so I'm not sure how well this will work on me. I do like the touch of sweet creamyness underneath the patchouli-ish kind of scent. Huh...this is interesting-it's like juicier version of snake oil to me? I can definitely see why so many would love this considering how popular snake oil. I know others have said this fades fast, but on my skin it is really lasting. However, honestly, I find this to be sooo similar to snake oil on me. Like a slightly juicier snake oil. Again, I can see why this is and will be super duper popular, but I'm just not a snake oil fan *ducks* so its not for me!
-
Mm...this is really pretty-I get a lot of frankincense and sage, with the tart lemon balm glazed over it. Definitely incensey-Normally I don't love the way incense smells on me, as much as I enjoy the scent of it in a room... Oh yeah, on my skin this is strong incense and balsam...kind of reminds me of that blue swirly bubble bar from Lush. Yep, this is totally what this smells like to me...a spiced frankincense. It is lovely and very relaxing to me...I just couldn't see myself buying this or wearing it. However, I think it is one of the most lovely frankincense bpal blends and would HIGHLY recommend it to frankincense lovers!

Oh god, in the imp this is vetiver-y death on me. Vetiver is just my doom note. This is a tangy metallic vetiver scent in the imp. I could only stand to put a drop on my skin. If you don't like vetiver, steer clear. This is an earthy/metallicy vetiver heavy scent on my skin. I mean, it's hard for me to review these kind of blends because vetiver is always just so strong on my skin. Dries down to a sweet powdery vetiver on my skin. O_o To the swaps you go!
-
This is the kind of blend that I like in theory, but that rarely seems to work on me-either I eat up citrus or the white florals go odd on me. I do quite like this in the imp-a sweet lemony snap-not sugary lemon-sweet and grounded by light florals. Ok, I really am liking this on my skin-smells like in the imp-sweet lemon and white flowers-I am going to let this sit and see if the citrus lasts, but both up close and from far away this is so lovely and refreshing-a perfect summer scent! Ok, so as it settles I kind of fall i nto the same problem I always do-the bright citrus gets eaten by my skin and then i'm left with a dull lemony scent mixed with soft white floral that just feels lacking =/ I think on the right person this could be so lovely, but it's just not something that would be a bottle purchase.
-
Mmmmm, I loved this one on first sniff! Sniffing it from the bottle pure sweet white sugar crystals, sweet white coconut, and a snap of black pepper. zomglove. super sugar overload. ugh so good on my skin too-the sugar note is a bit like velvet nudie-sweet sugar cane-y but more white and crystalline. it goes SO well with the coconut. that hint of black pepper keeps this from being straight up sugary death, but ugh...this one is just too damn good. if the scent description intrigues you, do yourself a favor and at least get a decant. this is very true to the description imho. if it wasn't already obvious i absolutely love this scent-it's the perfect sweet summer coconut scent!

Hmm. This is definitely my least favorite of the TP soaps I have tried so far. While the soap itself is of great quality, lathers well, is creamy and luxurious and non-drying, it just did not hold the scent well at all. The scent was light to begin with and within a few washes it was barely there. The scent (what is left of it) is pleasant-a light lemony/aloe scent, and someone who was a bigger fan of the perfume (it wasn't for me) may dig this a lot more, but I wouldn't get this soap again.
-
This is a gorgeous bath oil-possibly my favorite of all of the ones I have tried. The scent of this, a sweet honey, with touches of floral notes and light ginger, gets held far better in the bath oil than it did as a soap. If this was available in perfume form, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I found this oil to be a bit thicker and more viscous than some of the other bath oils I have tried-it's texture really felt similar to honey. I highly recommend this bath oil. If you like Beth's honey notes, it's a cant miss!
