ooo! this is a bubbly pink scent! not totally candy because it has the woods and iris in it, but a super sweet girly scent that is totally up my alley! Wahh, sooo fizzy and bubbly and fruity! Like a carbonated super sugary peach/strawberry soda! I don't smell the woods at all and just a touch of iris-it's mostly pinkness, peach and strawberry. Yum! Wood usually amps on me like crazy, but I don't really notice it here. I am in love with this scent. It might honestly be in my top ten bpals. While I can maybe see similarities to Pink Phoenix or Velvet Unicorn, it's definitely different and unique. There's something about this that gives it a depth that makes it feel like so much more thank a pink candy/fruity scent. The peach and strawberry go together sooo well. This is love.

Ok, I was testing this out for its effect so to say, but I should start with a review of the scent. This is a very warm cinnamony/woodsy/curried/spiced scent. On my skin it actually ended up smelling quite a lot like Clemence tbh-very nice! I actually thought it smelled better on my skin than in the imp. The woodsiness never got too overwhelming and the warm spices were just lovely. A couple things about it's effects-first off, it made my skin feel really warm. Not like ow cinnamon burny warm-I don't have skin sensitivities to any blends. Just made my body feel all over warm. Secondly...um...I would say it worked >_> I made no mention to my boy that I was wearing a blend like this and once some friends that were over left I was practically carried into the bedroom Will be holding on to this imp!

I believe I was at the DD event where this was offered and somehow it flew under my radar, which is just crazy because it so sounds up my alley according to the other reviews. Thankfully I was frimped some of this from a lovely decantress and I am so excited to get the chance to give it a try! In the imp this is definitely a sugary/bakery kind of smell to my nose. Vanilla cake batter perhaps? Maybe a little fizzy? There's an undertone of something-chemically or boozy..it's hard to tell-I am curious to see how this is on my skin. Huh..there is something sharp underlying the cake batter scent-it...kind of smells like Play-Doh O_O How odd...that is totally what this is reminding me of-usually bakery scents and I do so well together but this is straight up salty playdoh (I won't lie, I may have tried to eat it once as a kid...*cough*) Will definitely have to pass this along to someone who will enjoy it more and who has skin that won't turn it into playdoh!

I received a frimp of this from a wonderful decanter-I went back to check my review of the released version and while I had enjoyed the coffee scent, I was turned off by the dustiness and actually said I would love this blend w/o the dustiness. Reading the other reviews of this version has me super excited b/c it seems like lacks the dustiness! In the imp this is a dry hazelnut/cinnamon latte scent. Very nutty. Still maybe a bit dusty, but way less so than the GC version. Oh wow, this is super gorgeous on my skin-not dusty at all--to those who compared it to el dia de reyes (which I have) it is VERY similar-like el dia minus the chocolate, yummy sweet cinnamon and coffee with a touch of nuttiness! *swoon* As it dries it gets more warm and nutty. Mmmmm. A very cozy/comforting scent. This is truly a lovely lovely blend. Thankfully, it's not SO different from El Dia that I need to track down a full bottle, but I will most likely hold onto the decant. I can see why Beth chose the dustier version as the final one because I think the released version is a better representation of the idea behind the blend, but this version is omnomnomtastic.

Yeee. Got this as a lab frimp-never would have picked it out for myself. Then I saw the reviews saying this was vetiver which is my doom note. It has never worked on me. But in the interest of bpal and science, I have to try everything at least once. In the imp this is a very dark, thick vetiver scent. Yep...on my skin...there be vetiver. That's basically all I can smell tbh. Same on drydown, though not as heavy and dark when it dries fully. Not for me! -
Huh-this is interesting...I'm trying to think of what it reminds me of and I'm blanking because the scent is definitely triggering a memory. I will say bpal-wise it sort of reminds me of J-Horror, a sort of a bright, shocking sweet citrus-y scent with an odd undertone of something vaguely discomforting. You know, I think I will have to do a side by side of this w/ J-Horror...this REALLY remind me of it-a yellow citrussy, almost sickly sweet scent, with some musk and a disconcerting undertone...very lemony. Like a puff of yellow sugar chemical smoke. I like it, but I will probably have to Death Match it w/ J-Horror-it's a unique kind of scent and I definitely only need one. I will say, i'm enjoying this more as it dries-it was sort of overwhelming at first, but it's mellowing nicely, a sweet musky lemony scent. Ok out of curiosity went to go sniff J-Horror and they are definitely different-J-Horror has far more floral backing and less straight sugar/lemon. On full dryown this kind of loses it's oomph and becomes more genericy sugary lemon candyish. This is a very interesting scent with very interesting stages. I think I shall hold onto it-not sure I will keep it, but not ready to give it up yet!

Ooo, I love getting lab frimps of blends I'm itching to try! Mad Tea Party is my favorite of the GC lines-there have been so many blends I've loved and so many of the new ones sound soo good to me, including this one! In the imp this is a very deep, rich, heavy, savory scent. Plummy and crusty and kind of boozy. Very purple. Oh, this is wonderful on my skin-I have always been a huge fan of lab plum notes-they just go so well on me-this kind of reminds me of Bordello actually...all dark and purpley. I pulled out my Bordello bottle to compare and they are definitely different though. Bordello is more red-purpley, this is more black-purpley. As it dries, I notice a bit of a cinnamony spice and more of the mince-pie. It's almost a little to savory for me... On the drydown, it sort of loses it's uniqueness and punch and becomes a bit flat. My skin just didn't hold the complexity very well. This is a fun, unique blend, but I have other purpley blends that do better with my skin.

As odd as this may sound, to be this scent is in the same family as Velvet Nudie and Clarimonde. They both had this soft, skin musky base, but Nudie was this sweet, robust, sugary version and Clarimonde was the pallid, gaunt, waify vampire version. To me, this is the golden, luminous, tropical version-that same kind of pale musky base, this time with soft ginger, golden notes like the heliotrope and neroli, grounded with oud and beeswax and amber, with just a touch of muted rose and a zing of lime peel. The only thing that bothers me about the blend is that it fades REALLY fast. My skin just eats it up!
-
Lab frimp! In the imp honestly all I get is the deep dark frankincense and maybe a touch of chamomile. Hopefully on my skin I will get more carnation and heliotrope. Ok, this is definitely better on my skin-still VERY frankincense heavy-but I get a bit more of that goldeny heliotrope and maybe a touch of the carnation...it softens and sweetens on my skin. This one REALLy morphs a lot on my skin-the frankincense REALLY calms down and this becomes a soft, sweet, goldeny incense smell. Incense blends are not usually my thing but I am REALLY digging this. Not sure I would pick up a bottle, but I highly recommend it to incense fans AND to those who many be huge incense fans.

White Chocolate, Black Raspberry, and Apricot Cordial Truffle
Suu4LC replied to thekittenkat's topic in Lupercalia
This is just such a lovely blend-bpal dark/milk chocolate almost never smell very good on me for some reason, even though I love them so-there ends up being an odd nutty/grainy kind of smell. But bpal white chocolate (which is my least favorite chocolate irl) is just so sweet and creamy and delicious on me! I knew I had to try this one when I saw apricot, because I adore apricot and don't see it in enough bpal-I love Beth's apricot here-to me it's the strongest note, which makes me very happy-it combines perfectly with the black raspberry (another note I adore) and the white choco! So happy I grabbed a bottle of this before the Lupers went down! -
A sweet, fresh honeysuckle scent to my nose. On my skin, this is a rose/honeysuckle blend. Sweet and fresh and airy. It dries less airy, and more rich-also more rosey-thankfully the rose doesn't go off or sour on my skin, which sometimes happens. This is a very sweet blend-not sweet sugary, sweet like aww cute! sweet. Young and fresh and pretty with a touch of spice somewhere in there. Not really for me, but a very pleasant blend.
-
I *ADORE* this bath oil. It is just as gorgeous as I imagined it would be-to me, it's like the sweet bath oil lovechild of Spell of Amorous Love and Hanami. If you are a fan of Beth's Japanese blends (of which I am a huge fan), then I cannot imagine you will not like this one. Sweet, fruity, and floral, which a touch of swoony booziness from the wine...just, phenomenal. I do not think my decant will be enough!
-
This is looovely! I didn't find it particularly manly-to me it was more of a rich, warm unisex scent. Woody and rummy with just a teeeeensy touch of a cologney/perfumy scent. This has a very luxurious, thick, creamy texture and lathers pretty well. I have had no problems with drying. My bar didn't really have much sea salt on it-I would have liked a bit more. I would highly recommend this soap if you are a fan of the perfume or if you enjoy a slightly more masculine bar soap!

I remember sniffing this ages ago as a proto and remembering it as "7-up"-a fizzy lemon limey scent. I still get that lemon-limey vibe from it as I sniff it in the bottle, though I don't know where the heck I am getting that from. Also DEFINITELY get the yummy sweet honeys! Like fizzy honey syrup with a squirt of lime and a touch of cardamom/spice. Oh wow-this is lovely-this partial I got might not be enough! It's a GORGEOUS honey scent-sweet and bright, with a touch of tart, sweet lime-the dusty cardamom keeps this from being too much of a sugar high. I love this! It goes so well on my skin! Not a morpher-this dries down just like it smells wet and fresh on my skin. Absolutely lovely! I definitely don't think the partial I got will be enough!

This was a frimp from somewhere-sounds interesting, though I never would have picked it out. Whoa-this is sweeter than I expected-sweet orchid, apple blossom (very noticeable here in the imp) and green scents. Huh-this is very pretty-honestly, on my skin it is a VERY strong/heady orchid/apple blossom scent. Very intense and floral-almost reminds me of expensive/fancy soap. Dries down with less of an edge, but is still a distincly floral/orchid/apple blossom scent. When I say it reminds me of soap, I don't mean 'soapy'-it just, reminds me fancy soap. Not sure I would need a bottle of this, but I enjoyed the imp far more than I thought I would-more sweet and floral than I would have expected.

I fell in love when I sniffed this at a will call about a million years ago and kicked myself for not getting a bottle when the weenies went down. Thankfully I was able to get a hold of one! In the bottle, I don't really notice rose in this-it's very faint-it's sort of an unsweetened kind of skin musk-like the kind in Velvet Nudie but without the sugar and sweetness-pallid is a great word for it-and I find that waft of oriental perfume soo sexy! It's a bit more rosy on my skin-but very light-definitely a white roses kind of scent-very very pale. It really is like the dead/vampire version of Velvet Nudie to my nose. That same kind of sexy skin musk, but subdued, pale, misty, ethereal, cold and whispy. Lovely!

I had been dying to get a bottle of this for ages, especially because I had always heard it compared to the spicy carnations in Lush's potion lotion, which was a scent I adored. This is the resurrected version. Ohh, yes, definitely similar on my skin! Spicy carnation, extremely reminiscent of Lush's Potion lotion. There is something else in this though that I cannot put my finger on. Maybe it's some kind of amber. I fear this may dry down powdery on me...though wet, it is pretty close to Potion. Yep, to me this is like a slightly less sweet, slightly more powdery/amber Potion lotion. A nice spicy carnation scent. Very nice!
-
Hmm. I'm a bit worried about the amber in this-amber usually goes terribly powdery on me and black amber is one of my less favored ambers. This is pleasant in the imp-a slightly darkened violety scent with a touch of bergamot and bitter fruitiness. Huh...on my skin this goes to amber and grapefruit. A bit of florals, but it's almost like grapefruit rind or something. Not sweet and juicy, just the bitter peel mixed with amber. Very odd. In drydown this first became a straight violet-y scent. Almost like Lush's Gratuitous Violet soap to my nose. Now it's sort of become a sweet powdery scent, which is unsurprising given the amber and how my skin usually turns it to powder. Could be lovely on someone else, but the amber killed it for me.

Gold glitter for sure. This is how I imagined Aureus smelling in my head. This is a sweet gold white wine scent-not dry like champagne. Very sweet and a bit boozy-the pear in this is lovely! Oo-this is lovely! There's almost something...bubble-gummy to this. I don't know where I am getting that from. Mostly, it is a sweet white grape/white wine/pear mix, with a touch of heliotrope. Don't notice much lotus (which is fine with me because it's tends to not be a great note on me). Very nice. Fades to be a bit less "glittery"-soft and pleasant. I can especially see wearing this in spring/summer! ETA: This is the resurrected version.

Ooh. The snakes are very hit or miss with me-mostly misses unfortunately, but I always hold out hope and this one sounds lovely! Hmm...sniffing it in the imp I mostly get the plumeria/gardenia. I was hoping for more of the blood orange/apple and lemon peel, but this is reallly floral-y. Huh. On my skin, this is REALLY hard to describe-I definitely get more of the orange/apple/lemon, which makes me really happy and they actually go REALLY well with the florals. I like this FAR more on my skin than I did in the imp. I really don't notice the snake oil at all. If I didn't know it was in here, I don't think I'd notice it. Though as this dries, I think this adds to the underlying spice of the blend. I can see where some people might get a cinnamon-apple from this. This is getting added to the bottle list. I really have a hard time describing it. It does end up being more snake-oil-y as it dries down, and the florals go into the background, and the fruits come out and ahh. It's just such a unique, lovely combination! Will have to pick up a bottle of this before the Carnaval rolls outta town...

In the bottle this is a cologne-y cinnamony/clovey woody kind of scent. Very rich and masculine. I don't notice the leather too much, but it's the kind of note that comes out on my skin usually. Very clovey/woody on my skin. I definitely get more of the leather/patchouli as well. I do find this to be a very masculine kind of scent. If my boy wore scent, I think this would be amazingly RAWR on him. It's very smooth and well blended-the leather is jusssst the perfect amount. You know, when I sniffed this in the bottle I never thought I would want to keep it. Even just reading the notes there are so many I don't like-leather, sandalwood, patchouli... and I generally don't like earthy/masculine scents...but I...I think I really like this. It's warm and sexy, it dried down beautifully, not too powdery, the clove is gorgeous, the pathouli/leather/sandalwood all behave, it has just a hint of vanilla-y creaminess... ...I think I may end up holding onto it...

A lovely bpal frimped me this blend-I had never even heard of it! It was d/c-ed before I ever got into bpal I love finding new hidden bpal I never thought I would get to try! In the imp, this is rich, thick rose and ylang ylang. The lab's rose is hit or miss on me-I love the way it smells wet, but it tends to go a bit sour/off on my skin. Oh yeah, super strong rose on my skin. I mean REALLY strong. I mean, this blend is pretty much as described-rose and ylang ylang. Pink rose. I don't know why I imagine this as pink roses, but I just do. Overall, this was a really nice rose blend. As it dried it calmed down on the OMGROSENESS and didn't go super powdery or sour or anything. And it wafts a gentle rose scent that is really pleasant. I'm not sure I'd need to track down a bottle because there are so many lovely bpal rose scents, but I am very glad I got to test this one.

I didn't find this as nutty as some of the other reviews did-to me, this is a warm, fruity cider-less appley, and with more dark red and purple fruits-not sugary fruity or super sweet fruity-more pulpy, slightly bitter but not acidic, meaty dark fruits. On my skin I definitely get more of the nuttiness than I do in the bottle, but primarily this is a lovely cider scent and an excellent embodiment of fall. It is less "spicy" (not hot spicy, spices spicy) than some of the other cider scents I have. It's darker than Punkie Night, but not smoky like Fearful Pleasure. The touch of apple blossom is just barely noticeable, but is absolutely lovely. One note: this fades REALLY fast on me. I only have a tiny partial of this (about 1/6 of the bottle), and I feel like I will end up using it up super fast! Overall, a really nice dark, fruity cider scent!
-
Hmm. I am torn on this one. I originally purchased it when I believed it was going to be a violet/lavender mix, and clearly it is not. BUT, I do love most of the notes that are actually in it. In the bottle this is a delicious very sweet creamy vanilla/tonka scent, which I loooooove. The problem is that leather note. As soon as I saw leather in the description I knew I might be in trouble because I'm just not a fan. This is why I am so conflicted! It does smell good on me-I love the vanilla/tonka-it's girly and creamy and gorgeous! And actually, the leather works pretty well with that-kind of gives it a sexy underlying roughness. The leather note is clean, which helps, but still...I'm just not sure I dig it-from far away it smells amazing but up-close the leather is really strong. Gonna hold onto this one and see how it ages-hopefully the leather will mellow out just a bit and then I think this will be perfect!

In the bottle, this is pretty accurate to what the scent description is-butterscotchy caramel apple and boozy coconut. Nom! Yep-on my skin it is just as good-this is REALLY freakin spot on! Perfect caramel apple-the apple note is amazing-just like those crisp, tart green apples they use for caramel apples. I can almost taste the thick gooey caramel...the boozey coconut is jussst barely there-not overwhelming as rum/booze can tend to be...a little bit like the rum note in Upa Upa, just a dash of it. This is such win on me. I am so glad I got a partial-hopefully that will be enough!
