I love pomegranate, and until now, I haven't found a pomegranate blend that works on me. I was wary of Swank because of the booze note, but its really not dominant. I get a nice juicy pomegranate note with an almost fizzy coolness to it, and its not too sweet. Perfect. Throw is medium, wearlength is longer than I would have expected.

I applied this and completely forgot about it until about 10 minutes later. Delicious strawberryvanilla, with just enough Egyptian Musk in the background to keep this going over into the "candy" area of my brain. I didn't get any florals at all. I like this quite a bit.

CMXLV- I keep sniffing this but I can't figure out what's in it. Fruit? Maybe? After awhile it starts to remind me a bit of Yemaya... possibly melon. Maybe the sweetness is honey. I can't tell. It's nice, but possibly not for me. I'll try it again in a few days. DCCCLXIII-Decidedly foody. And buttery. Wet, it smells like Gluttony. I think there's caramel in here. In fact, that's the only thing I get right now. CMXXXI- APPLE. APPLE APPLE APPLE and then something...woody? Kinda reminds me of the ironbark note in Tiki King. I have an apple tree scent! CMXXIX- Spicy ginger...maybe clove too. Like the ingredients for mulled cider plus ginger. The longer I wear it, the more I like it. Will be great for fall!

I never would have thought of chocolate and lavender to be complementary notes, but they certainly are. What made me nervous about Wulric was really the vetiver, and upon application I could smell it quite strongly with the lavender. But about an hour later, its dried down into something I really like. Usually cocoa and fruit/floral blends do NOT work on me one bit, but the vetiver keeps everything grounded nicely. Wulric is definitely a more masculine scent, and I'm not sure if I need a bottle just yet, but I'll be using my decant for sure.

I've been wearing this one for about an hour, and during that time I smelled like a really nice new boot. That sounds bad, but I did like that stage, I was just hoping for something more complex. I was at a meet and sniff this weekend, and someone told me Western Diamondback is a blend that you need to let sit for awhile. Glad I did! Now it's finally starting to morph a bit. I've still got the strong leather note (which I am LOVING) but now its backed by the spiciness of SO. Not nearly as much of the sweetness I usually get. I think I need to slather the hell out of this and see how it wears for a day. I think it has incredible potential, I just need to wear MORE

This definitely has the incense note I LOVE in Midnight on the Midway, and it doesn't turn into scented toilet paper after a few hours. I really don't get a whole lot of the SO spicysweetness in this blend, but its there, and it goes with the incense surprisingly well. Think I'll stock up on Temple Viper instead of MotM!

Wet: lemon peel and grapefruit... and its yummy. I can't wait to see how all these notes work together. A few minutes later: Now I get the teakwood and the leather, but they're taking a backseat to the citrus so far. No florals yet, but knowing my chemistry, I'm expecting orchid at any moment. Ooh, there's the teeeeny bit of mint. Dry: This is a fabulous scent on a lot of levels. I want to gift my perfume-loving co-worker with it, because it will be awesome for daily wear. And of course, I'll need a bit more for myself Sophisticated and memorable.

WOW. When first applied, this actually reminded me a lot of the lab's rice milk note, but it quickly became something a lot more golden. I definitely get the vanilla and musks here, and they aren't overpowered by the lily like I feared. I can't pick up any sandalwood at all. Everything is perfectly blended... it smells almost buttery. I really don't know how to describe this aside of feminine, golden, and lovely. Bottleworthy without a doubt. I'm sure this is even better aged.

initial application: blah, maraschino cherries in chocolate syrup. SUPER sweet. after a few minutes: much the same, only less sweetness to the chocolate and a little bit of orange blossom. I'm really struggling to give this a good chance, its so sweet and smells nothing like what I was hoping for. I'm not getting much chocolate at all now. 15 minutes in: I tried. can't. sigh.

in the imp: straight up buttercream. on me: Whoa, almond. And rum. Wow. Dry: I swear, this smells like there's cinnamon in it. I know there isn't, especially because my skin isn't turning red, but it has that spicy smell to it. Sensual and luxuriant are definitely spot on. Sniffing it seems to warm my whole body. I was all ready to reject this in the beginning stages, but I think that would be a mistake. This is some powerful sexy stuff here, nbt at all foody like I was expecting. I think I'll let my imp sit for a week or so and try it again, but this might be a bottle purchase.

I just got a lab-fresh bottle today, and I can already see that I need more. Bear with me there's several notes I'm not too familiar with. I'm not sure what I expected...something more salty and masculine I think. SM is neither of those things on my skin. Upon applying its super sweet... I think that must be the Pimenta racemosa. I can pick out the resins too, mostly the myrrh. Mostly, I worried about whether the patchouli would behave on me, and it definitely does. This is a deep, earthy, resiny blend, like many oils I love, but SM is something special. I can't wait to see what this is like after its aged a bit. Heaven! ETA: I seriously cannot believe how good this is. I wish I could describe it better!

In the bottle: like smelling a fresh, cold apple that's just been sliced open. Wet: Much the same, very light, but I can already pick up something musky. Right now this reminds me of the beginning stage of Poisoned Apple, the stage I love. After a few minutes: Maybe a little bit herbal now, but I don't get the mint that I've seen mentioned before. I think that's probably good. The musk is coming out more and... I'm not sure how to describe it really... it smells like it BELONGS on skin. Its not a fruity blend that makes you go, "Hey, you smell like an apple!" Later: Omg, I can't get my nose away from my wrist. This blend is light, but its GORGEOUS. I don't care if I have to save it for special occasions and then slather the hell out of it, I'm so glad to have a bottle. As someone else said, this is a great fruit blend for people who don't like fruit.

for something potentially swapworthy or that goes a long way in terms of throw, I use a toothpick. If I'm going to use it in one of my scent lockets I use a q-tip. After I apply I squeeze the remaining oil from the tip of the cotton into the fabric that goes in my locket.

Got an aged bottle of this (not sure how old, but the label is faded if that's worth anything) and I'm quite pleased! Milk is a note that really works on me, but ginger doesn't always. In this case, its very light and I can't pick out the honey at all. I'm not sure how I'd describe it other than light and creamy, but its something I can imagine wearing in any weather and on any casual occasion (and most of my occasions are casual). I'll probably try it as a layering note as well. I'll be keeping this!

I expected this to be heavy and masculine and truly not for me. However, Calico Jack is a smooth and vaguely spicy aquatic. I'm surprised. I don't really care for it though, I have a lot of aquatic blends that suit be better.

I wanted to try this one for the incense/tonka combo. I do get the incense, but this is mostly clove and violet to me. In fact, I think I'm amping the clove. Violet is a really interesting note to this blend though, I wouldn't have thought to put it with the clove. ADDED April 30: WHOA VIOLET. WHOA. I'm still holding out hope for the tonka. Oh dear. This really smells like scented toilet paper on me. I get a good whiff of tonka in the throw, but up close it is all Charmin.

Interesting. When wet, this smells exactly like black licorice on my skin, and I have no idea why. It also seems like there is grapefruit in here. I don't get any leather at all, maybe a little of the tea but that could just be me trying to find it. Not for me, but an intriguing blend for sure. Its masculine to me, and although I consider myself someone who can wear the more masculine scents, I don't think I could pull this one off.

In the bottle: A green aquatic smell, not sharp green though. Definitely underwater green. Cucumber too. In my personal opinion, the Great Lakes smell much less pleasant than this Wet on me: Cucumber and agave with a little bit of florals. The florals made me nervous, but I think the cucumber is keeping them in check. Dry: Sweet and fresh and green overall. I bought this hoping for a great summer scent that made me feel cool and relaxed, and that's exactly what it does. Its something I can wear often, especially to work. Its unobtrusive but still interesting. Edit: unlike...well....ALL aquatics I've ever tried, this stuff lasts and lasts and has great throw!

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream
iiinterstate replied to filigree_shadow's topic in Liliths
I was so excited to get home because I knew the Crawdad Dream was waiting for me! In the bottle: BLUEBERRY BLUEBERRY BLUEBERRY, strong and tart. Wet on me: Still blueberry, but less so. I can really smell the green tea, which usually goes a little bit off on me no matter how many times I try. Drying: The fruitiness of this blend fades quite a bit (I'm not surprised, my skin tends to eat berry notes) but its not gone at all. It smells more like fresh blueberries at the grocery store than blueberry candies, which is much nicer to wear in my opinion. After awhile: There's the ginger! Someone earlier on compared this blend to Pele, and I can see that now. Pele minus flowers plus tea. A few minutes later I can pick up a teeeeeensy bit of vanilla. Blueberry is still in the background. I hope it comes out a little more as this ages. I'm really interested to see what this crazy morpher will do once it has a week or so to settle, but I'm pleased as it is. So many strange ingredients with such a pretty end result! ETA: Later, the blueberry comes back (yay!) along with some more vanilla. This is GORGEOUS and I'm so glad I took a chance on two bottles! Blueberry pie INDEED. -
Strangely enough, this smells EXACTLY like oatmeal cookie dough to me! I'm not sure how often I'll wear it, but I'll definitely be hanging on to it for awhile. Definitely a great foody blend. Its making me hungry... Wearlength is short, but quite memorable Worth the slather.

It took a while for mine to smell like much of anything. I'd say at least 2 weeks. It was great after a month. But, yeah, when I first got it...nothing. Oh good, glad it isn't just me. I brought it out again recently just to see how it was coming along and there was definitely more scent to it, but I think it needs a couple more weeks to reach full awesome potential. I guess I'm almost glad about it... if I had bought a full bottle fresh from the lab before trying a slightly aged sample I might have sold/swapped it for something else.

It seems like I've been waiting FOREVER to try this blend, I don't know why it has taken me so long. But it was worth the wait. MLaST reminds me a lot of Antique Lace, only with much more vanilla (a plus.) I swear I smell tea in the drydown, but I think it must be the sweetpea confusing my nose (I don't wear a lot of sweetpea). I think I'll try this out at work tomorrow and see how the sandalwood comes into play over the day, its usually a hit or miss note with me, but I can easily see this becoming a weekday favorite. Its light, but not TOO light. I'll definitely be wearing it in a scent locket to make it last though.

FINALLY a room spray that is a winner with my fiance! I don't usually spray them in the bedroom because he doesn't usually like any of them that much, but today I spritzed the pillows with Down the Rabbit Hole before taking a nap. When he came in to wake me up later, he said, "Did you spray something in here? Its smells earthy. I like earthy." And I agree! Earth and marmalade, slightly spicy. I LOVE it. Unusual and oddly comforting. A bottle purchase that I KNOW will go to good use in my household.

wet: spicy plummy musk. after awhile: dries down to fruity, very earthy incense. I REALLY like it. I think I'll be giving this one a serious all-day try. Possibly bottleworthy.

in the imp this smelled exactly like Elmer's glue, which was a little...alarming. Thankfully, on my skin it becomes an expertly blended combination of verbena and honeysuckle, with just a hint of tea. Very fresh and lovely for summer. I'll probably pick up a bottle
