This reminds me of a perfume I had when I was about 11 that someone bought for me as a Christmas present which smelt very grown up to me. I mean this in a good way. I wasn't sure if I'd like this because of the sandalwood but it's actually a very pretty and well-blended scent which smells more like a commercial perfume than a lot of BPAL stuff does to me. I think the only problem is it might be a bit too posh for me as I think I'm really after girl next door scents whereas this is more like a classy womanly smell. But I'll keep the decant for when I want to pretend I'm sophisticated. 4/5 Elegant and refined.

Nice if slightly soapy floral. Not particularly strong smelling but reasonably pleasant. 3/5 It's alright but not anything to write home about.

I really like this at first. It did smell a bit traditional perfume-y, but I quite like normal smelling perfume so that's not a problem. Unfortunately, after about 30 minutes the wood starts coming out and I don't think wood likes me and the woodiness gets stronger as it dries. Really nice to begin with though and at first I thought I'd get a bottle, but unfortunately the wood kills it for me and I'm not even sure I'll use up the imp. 2.5/5 Oh smashed wood, why did you have to spoil everything?

I was really suprised when I tried this because all the reviews are so positive but there's something in this that smells really funky. I'm not sure what but it's seriously unpleasant. On my arm it smelt so bad for a few minutes and then faded quickly to nothingness, which I suppose is a good thing in the circumstances. I tried it on a piece of cotton wool to check if there was something weird going on with by body chemistry and it didn't smell much better although it lasted longer. It smells a bit like rotten woody plums to me. Very deep and not sweet. I don't like it at all. It's funny though, I can't work out what the note is that's killing it. It smells a bit like some kind of wood but there's nothing like that listed in the description. 1/5 Very bad but faded quickly.

I got frimped this by the lab and the first time I tried it on I thought it was interesting and quite complex. The myrrh gives it a lot of depth and it's not normally the kind of scent I go for (I normally stick with girly, feminine and light). I wore it again though and I had to go wash it off because my mother could smell it across the room whilst she was eating and said it smelt like the car and was making her sick. After she mentioned it, I did notice it smelt a quite a lot like petrol/gas. 2/5 I don't think I'll be wearing it again now.

This one smells a lot like an autumnal Yankee Candle to me. It's quite comforting and warm but not very perfume-y or feminine. Not something I'd where ordinarily but very warm and foody. I don't think I'd mind if my house smelt like this but I don't think it's quite right on me. Plus, it does have a hint of that plasticiness that I get from most food scents, but it's not overwhelming like in Bliss. 2.5/5 I'll save the imp for autumn and see if the mood strikes me.

I'm sorry to say this, but this really is the worst BPAL I've tried so far. I like apples so I thought I'd like this. I'm realising now though that wood isn't my friend. What I got from The Hersperides was rotting yellow apples on a rotting pile of wood. It was really really hard to wash off and I put it on in the morning so even though I washed my wrist so much that the skin was raw, I still kept smelling it throughout the day. 1/5 I think I need to go through my wishlist and make sure I take off everything with wood in it.

The description is "Dewy grass, summer breezes, and dandelion clocks."

Nice simple vanilla with a hint of linen. I much prefer this to Mouses' Long and Sad Tail in terms of wanting a nice plain vanilla. Maybe a bit too simple for some people but I like it a lot. I think it might be good for layering too as I like lots of vanilla in everything. 5/5 Will need a bottle!

Oh dear. I hate to be negative but when I put Spohia on I have to admit it smelt like mouthwash and manure. Got slightly less bad after a while and the gentle spice came out but still pretty ghastly. 1/5 Yuck!

I get milk chocolate but there's also that funny note that I got from Prunella but not as strong. Maybe it's the milk/cream note? Whatever it is, it spoils the chocolatey goodness and then the whole thing fades pretty quickly anyway. 1.5/5 Damn it! I wanted to smell yummy

This is kind of what I was expecting from Danube - flowers and water. It stronger than I expected (which is a good thing as these kind of watery florals are usually pretty faint) but it's spoiled by something resembling nail polish remover. After a while the nail polish remover smell goes and the perfume begins to fade, but it's not really me. Off to the swap pile. 2.5/5 Oh well, at least this means I don't have to figure out how to pronounce or spell it.

I find Bordello actually gets more almond-y on me after an hour or so but YMMV.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
anna1850 replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
For snowy rose, I haven't tried it but Christmas Rose (LE) might fit the bill (Bruise-tinted hellebore blossoms pushing through snowdrifts) and again, I haven't tried it, but the general consensus is that The Rose in the Marchen category is very similar to Rose Red in terms of being a simple fresh rose scent and it's GC. -
I've just actually spent this last week marshalling a high court judge. I only wore a little Antique Lace as it's light and clean and linen-y with a little bit of vanilla goodness. I've yet to try Wensleydale but that sounds like a good choice. Good luck

Spicy and rummy and whilst not as masculine as it could be, it's definitely not girly. Not bad, but not for me. I wish the prostitute's perfume was stronger as I think I'd honestly prefer that to the woody spiciness I get. 2/5 If I was a man from the 1970s then I might want to wear this; but I'm not, so I don't.

Reminds me very strongly of the stuff they put in washing powder to make your clothes smell fresh. I might have liked it otherwise but it just reminds me of laundry and artificial clothes smells. Might be good if you need to make your clothes smell fresh and you haven't had time to wash them! 2/5 Not unpleasant but very laundry-ish.

Lots of woody notes. Slight sweetness of the fig and cocoa underneath. I might use this to freshen up some potpourri eventually. It reminds me of a library in a Victorian house somehow. 2/5 This would make a very good room scent but I can't see wearing it as a normal perfume.

Smells like metal. Not like copper, more like iron. The name fits it exactly. I'm not getting much mint, I think my skin might have killed those notes. This scent lasts ages on me. I had to wash it off the following morning to try something else. I put it on my wrists and my gloves still faintly smell of it a few weeks later. Overall: Perfectly fits the concept but this is quite a masculine scent. If I were a guy I'd really like this but it's just not feminine enough for me. I'll keep this though as I'd be interested in layering it with a floral to soften it. 2.5/5 Interesting but not something I could see wearing regularly.

In the vial: Soapy. I don't get pomegranate or rose just a strong sweet smell. On the skin: Still soapy. Unpleasant. 10 minutes later: It's faded very fast to almost nothing, which might a good thing! Overall: I can't see wearing this again. I was really looking forward to Persephone and it was a bit of a disappointment. 1/5 Didn't make me gag, but I really didn't like it.

On my wrist: Like a fruit punch with something spikey in there (probably the neroli). In my scent locket: Bananas in a berry sauce. Somebody else mentioned bananas and I get them too but not on my skin, only in the locket. Overall: Very nice berryish deep red scent but not quite me. It's a bit feminine but I think I'm after something girlier. 3.5/5 I'll definitely keep the imp but not quite bottle-worthy.
