Milk Moon is very true to its name. Soft and milky, the sweetness reminds me of buttercream icing. Thankfully the mint is barely noticeable and, for some odd reason, gives me the impression of suntan oil. Milk Moon seems to be a combination of Spooky and Dorian to my nose. I like this more than I thought I might, especially since I can barely detect the mint. It's quite a delicious blend

I'd recommend Storm Moon - maybe you can find a bottle or imp in the Swap section. Defnitely a rainy scent.

Crossroads The description of this is beautiful and the earthy, mossy, herbal notes sounded so lovely. However. The moment this dries I am hit with a crazy strong jasmine note. I love jasmine but this has a heavy sweetness to it - like bubblegum as another reviewer mentioned and it's incredibly strong. After a while the jasmine tones down slightly and I can smell some sort of dampness underneath but it is still very sweet. I had high hopes but this just wasn't meant to be

Miskatonic University In the bottle it's all delicious creamy coffee and it's hard not to take a sip. Once on it's still all irish coffee, no wood, no dustiness. MU has great staying power and one little drop is quite potent. An hour later, still coffee and I think I smell hazelnuts now. Several hours later I get something a little different - coffee and something...old. Not dusty or woody but something that has aged and mellowed. I can imagine sitting in an old library in a huge comfy chair reading an old hardbacked book. Very comforting

Mi-Go I was a little hesitant on this because of all the fruity notes but the pink pepper, jasmine, and ginger intrigued me plus - it's brains! In the bottle I get a strong jolly rancher scent, very sweet and fruity. Initially it stays very wet and juicy (kinda like squishy brains!). After about half an hour some of the jasmine pokes through along with a bit of tea. I'm not smelling anything spicy though; no pepper or ginger. Still it's much more wearable than I thought it would be and has turned into a lovely fruity floral. Very glad I bought this for the cute little squishy brain

Ahh Graveyard Dirt is so fresh and clean! I was hoping it would smell like Lush's Middle Earth soap and I'm not disappointed. It's not really the same scent but it has that wonderful earthy quality that ME does and is a nice change from heavy floral or foody oils. This isn't a dead, dry, dust but rather a rich loamy soil. Wonderful

Dead Man's Hand: As everyone has said, this is pure leather and it reminds me of the Wilson's store that used to be in the mall. There's a rougher element underneath though which gives it more of a rawhide scent than a black leather jacket scent. I would sum this up as dirty and interesting.

Dorian Inspired by and created for my beloved Tedwin: my eternal, beautiful, wicked Dorian Gray. Refined, elegant, and lovely, with a noble bearing and seemingly gentle air. This blend is an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea. In the bottle - this is sweet much; more so than I thought it would be - the vanilla jumps out and masks any other notes. Upon initial application it gets even sweeter and now reminds me of buttercream icing. Not quite the sex fragrance I had in mind After a bit the vanilla calms down and there's a hint of tea and a tiny little sliver of lemon. This is soft and creamy and has quite a lot of staying power but definitely not what I was expecting. I like it though and will reserve is for occasions when I want to smell sweet and dainty.

Hetairae Ahh, this is such a beautiful mixture of smells. This isn't green or dandelion to me but rather a spicy incense with a faint touch of sweetness. No one note takes over but the patchouli, honey, and ylang ylang are the most prominent. This pairs very well with Lush's Figs and Leaves soap that I used this morning. A definite keeper

Blood Lotus - this is a red, voluptuous, juicy, sweet floral. On my skin it's not candylike and the fruity aspect is tempered by the lotus and it is simply wonderful and quite perfect for this lovely spring day. A very uplifting scent and one that I'm glad I rediscovered

Morgause - in the bottle all I get it a deep floral. After applying I get an immediate impression of dusky purpleness. This is not a meek floral, it is very powerful and seductive. A bit later there's an impression of something fruity but I can't quite figure out what it could be - not plums or grapes but I'm drawing a blank on what other kinds of purple fruit there are An hour later I can smell the incense and it blends so well with the florals. I really like this so I may have to get a big bottle.

Antique Lace - in the bottle this is soft and sweet vanilla. Once on the sweet vanilla scent softens even more and has a faint powdery overtone. I really get the sense of old handmade lace found in a trunk that has been packed away and yellowed with time. There isn't much floral that I can detect but this isn't just a plain vanilla so I'm thinking there are other notes that are muted yet compliment the main vanilla note and give it a light loveliness. Very glad that I purchased a bottle of this.

Spooky - first impression, wow this is really boozy like some sort of minty chocolate liqueur. Hard to believe it won't taste as good as it smells. Once on I can smell the coconut now, more than the mint and chocolate though they are still very prominent. I like the mint in this and I'm a little suprised because most mints are too sweet on me but this blends well with the other notes - I get the impression of a big mug of hot cocoa with a peppermint stick. After a bit the coconut really takes over and now I'm reminded of this tanning oil I had when I used to actually lay out in the sun and try to get tan - delicious (not the tanning, the smell of the oil ) I'm glad this came back for a cameo appearance
-
Gluttony - in the vial, wow this is pretty sweet and it reminds me of Grog with the butteryness (but minus the booze) Once on - wow I smell sweet rich pralines and they smell sooooo good! This is really sweet but for me it's a very wearable sweet. Not too cloying just delicious. It does have that indulgent feel as in "yeah I just ate a whole box of Godiva chocolates- so what?" It's indolent, decadent and wonderful. Buttery hot brown sugar A big bottle is on the list.

Tee Pumpkin King is a lovely muted fall scent. It's much more subdude than Samhain or Jack but still the very essence of a quiet autumn evening. In the vial theres a mixture of woodsy and sweet - not sugary sweet but rather more apple cider sweet. Once on the dry leafy wood scent mingles with the apple cider and there's a little hint of spice underneath. I'm not getting much more than a hint of pumpkin. After a few hours the scent has shifted slightly and it almost reminds me of an elegant men's cologne of sorts but not in an overbearing perfumy way. This is very very nice and I do hope that Beth decides to release this soon

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love
miss apple replied to any_old_actress's topic in Recommendations
Autumn is my favoritest season My picks for falls scents would be: The Hespirides - crisp cool apple goodness Verdandi - spicy warm apple yumminess Hunter Moon - chilly fall nights, crunchy leaves, and warm fires Jack - buttery pumpkin Scarecrow - hay fields on a warm day -
Verdandi is a beautiful scent. While it shares a similar apple note with the Hespirides, Verdandi is warm and spicy whereas the Hespirides is cool and crisp. The black amber and the herbs temper the apple so it's not too sweet. This is a delicious, seductive oil and quite perfect for the beginning of fall - though that won't stop me from wearing it now I'm very glad I have a big bottle on order.

Coyote - in the vial I can smell dust and a bit of an ozone note. Once one, the dusty scent is very prominent and I rather get the impression of a windy storm off in the distance kicking up debris on a hot summer afternoon. It's interesting but I'm not sure it's really me. After a few minutes my eyes are watering and the oil has morphed into an overpowering men's cologne. I don't know what is reacting so strongly - I detect a bit of amber but it's not the same warm golden scent I usually get. I think this is one for the swap pile.
-
Urd - in the bottle I don't get much of an impression. It's not sweet or floral, it just...is. Once on I can smell the Nag Champa and an earthy fresh soil kind of scent. Very different than what I could smell in the bottle but I like it. After about an hour the earthiness is gone and has been replaced by something warm, red patchouli perhaps? It pairs well with the Nag Champa and underneath both I get traces of sweetness. Until I started wearing BPAL I wouldn't go near anything with patchouli in it but Beth's patchouli blends are just so wonderful and complex. Urd is another stunning accomplishment

Hmm, what about Le Serpent Qui Danse - it's sweet but floral. Or perhaps Ophelia or Regan? Tiger Lily is a nice floral but might be more suited for spring...

My wedding is in October too and I still haven't figured out which scent I'd like to wear. Velvet and Jack are two of my favorite comfort scents but I'm not sure if they match the occasion. (It also sounds like we have similar gown ideas - mine is somewhat Art Deco inspired). If you're looking for a soft floral you might want to try Dragon's Bone, Belle Epoque, or Eos. White Rabbit or Sudha Segara might be good too.

Skuld - fist sniff, mmmmm it's all honey Once on the scent becomes quite prominent with the honey dominating the other notes. After about an hour or so the honey tones down and the ylang ylang comes out. Musks keep this from becoming too sweet and lend the oil an exotic air. Something in this blend reminds me a bit of Jezebel but I like Skuld better. This is a delicious oil and I'm glad I bought a big bottle.

Editing now that I noticed I say it more B-pall than B-Paul.
-
Medea - in the bottle and upon drydown I can't pick out any single notes but this is dusky, smokey, sensual loveliness. There's a little bit of sweetness buried under the darkness and it adds a bit of complexity to this wonderful oil. I love, love, love this!

I would suggest: Velvet Bastet Blood Kiss Queen Mab Bliss
