Dia de Los Muertos In the bottle I can't pick out any single note, it's a bit sweet and a bit smokey. On my skin, at first all I can smell is tobacco. After about half an hour something deeper comes through - maybe the copal? I'm not sure what that smells like but it reminds me of incense. I don't notice anything floral.....two hours later it's faded quite a bit and all I really get is sweet tobacco. I'm not quite sure I like this so I'll have to try it a few more times.

Sugar Skull First impression in the bottle- wow, very sweet. This is sticky, hot brown sugar sweet. Once on, it's still very sweet but the spiciness starts to come through and tones the sugar a bit. I also get the same burnt marshmellow scent others have mentioned. This is an oil for playful silly moods - good for when you crave sweets but don't want to eat them.

I love the little bats on All Saints!

I've had an imp of Blood of a while but it never smelled like much to me in the vial. Last night I decided to give it a try. Once on, whoa this is very rich! Much more powerful once it dries on my skin. I wouldn't have suspected this from the understated scent in the vial. Initally there is a bit of metallic tang but after half an hour that fades. The Dragon's Blood is there but the clove and mhyrr give it a beautiful smokey sweetness. It reminds me of this Indian incense that I have (not Nag Champa...something else) It's a provacative, notice-me scent. I will definitely purchase a bigger bottle

If I have Samhain (and it works for me) that will be my first choice..otherwise perhaps Jack or maybe Formula 54.

Dana O'Shee is very almondy.

Bon Vivant In the vial - yep definitely strawberries and champagne and though I know how talented Beth is, this just amazes me at how much it smells like the real thing - it seems like it should be bubbly. Once on, wow this is really, really sweet. I don't like drinking champagne and I'm not overly fond of the scent but when combined with a candy-like strawberry smell on my skin, it really doesn't work as a perfume for me.

Formula 54 I had to find the right mood to try this because in the bottle it smelled mostly like bitter cherries. Once on, wow this smells like cough syrup! It's not as bitter but not quite pleasant. After a few minutes the cough syrup smell goes away and suddenly this is a wonderful dark smokey scent. It remind me a bit of the cherry incense I used to buy from Spencer gifts. I'd burn it so it would cover up the smell of the cigarettes I used to sneak in my room so my mom wouldn't find out as if she didn't know Good times Anyway this smells much better than the Spencers's incense; there are many dark layers that subdue sweetness while enhancing the sexiness ripe fruitness. This is a very seductive oil, perfect for those evening when you want to play the femme fatale.

Blood Rose In the bottle this is very sweet and rich. Once on, it is a bold ,voluptuous rose. Deep, red, velvety roses blooming in all their glory. The Dragon's Blood sweetens the rose and the bit of wine mixed in brings this to a heady complexity that is lush and wonderful One of my favorite scents .

Sudha Segara In the vial this is soft and warm, a very comforting scent. Once on, it softens into a delicious, milky, spiciness. There's a bit of effervescence lingering on the surface and it reminds me of ginger ale. This is a wonderful light scent however it fades very fast on me. I don't mind reapplying though - it's light and lovely

Mata Hari - first sniff - coffee beans, and that's pretty much my nose can figure out. I like the smell of coffee so that's a good thing but as a scent I"m not so sure... On dry down I get less bean and more freshly brewed cup with a little bit of jasmine. Half an hour later the coffee has taken a back seat to a lush floral scent - almost like gardenias. After a few hours the mahogany surfaces with a bit of vanilla sweetness though maybe that's the tonka bean? This is such an alluring scent! It has an innocent air with a veil of mystery - very complex and beautiful. A definite winner

Old Athens - first impression is sweet golden honey On drydown the flowers blend with the honey, still sweet but not heavy. After a while the scent becomes a bit powdery and something in this reminds me a bit of Scarecrow - a fresh mown hay kind of smell. A few hours later the flowers fade a bit and the wine comes out. This is a breezy, warm sunny, scent and it is simply beautiful
-
Tintagel - in the vial I can't pick out any notes but it's a very warm scent. Once on the warmth blossoms into a slighty spicy, sweetness. I can detect the wine underneath and a bit of the wood elements peeking through. A bit later the Dragon's Blood comes out and everything combines into a beautiful bouquet. This ivokes the feeling of late fall/early winter to me - a good holiday oil. It may just have to go on my big bottle list

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

I agree with Blood Rose; it's a wonderful deep rich scent - all roses and red wine. It doesn't seem purple to me but it's a very bold, provacative rose. Nothing delicate or old ladyish about it at all. -
Old New Orleans In the vial, it's a very strong floral but I can't pick out any individual notes. Once on, the jasmine and honeysuckle become prominent and develop into a wonderful floral creaminess. The lemon is there but it's very faint and I can't smell anything spicy. This is a voluptuous scent, bold and sultry. Something you would wear when you want to be seductive. A bottle of this is on order

Old Paris First sniff, something very sweet and purple. I don't get any lavendar, just a candy-like purpleness. Once on, it becomes even sweeter. It reminds me of flowery bubblegum. After an hour or so it becomes a bit powdery but the sweetness hasn't calmed down at all. Alas, this wasn't quite what I expected so I will pass it along.

Bayou, in the vial, is very green in a lush jungle plant kind of way. It put me off a bit at first because it was so green. After drydown, the green plant smell is a bit more subdued and a creamy floral note becomes more noticable. This does smell like hothouse flowers, humid and tropical. My nose also detects something faint and lemony but it's very subtle. THis is an interesting blend, much more complex than I thought it would be. I may decide on a bigger bottle in the future.

Adding Dragon's Blood and O to the list. If I put these on in the afternoon, I can still smell them the next morning when I get up.

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

I've gotten unprompted compliments from my boyfriend when I wear Black Lotus (he actually asked what it was and told me that I smelled really good which is strange because I thought it had faded too much), O, Alice, and Velvet. -
Tiger Lily In the vial, this a sweet floral - very strong lilles. After it dries the lillies soften and the scent warms with the honey notes. This is a very bright yellow-orange happy fragrance. It reminds me of sunny days and a big field of Tiger Lillies waving in the wind. This would be a perfect spring or early summer scent. I may order a big bottle when I'm in need of some sunshine during the winter.

Alice in the vial is soft and floral; a very dainty scent. Once on the oil immediately morphs into a milky tea and the carnation becomes more noticable. After an hour there is a hint of rose and the carnation has become spicy. I can definitely see the comparisons to Lush's Potion lotion but it has a more innocent overtone. Alas this faded about two hours after I applied it and I can only smell traces on my wrists. This is somewhat different than most of the scents I have so I may get a big bottle and slather with abandon.

Zombi: In the vial I can smell faded roses and a pungent green earthiness. Once on, the greenness deepens into a dank, humid, mossy scent with a hint of dirt. Very different and unique in a good way. After a few hours the rose peeps out - it's a faded rose, almost as if it has been crushed into the damp ground. This scent started out strong but faded after about four hours. It's an interesting oil but I'm not sure I'd get a larger bottle.
-
Dragon's Milk is, at this moment, my favorite scent In the vial I can smell the frutiness of the Dragon's Blood with the vanilla - just enough sweetness yet not cloyingly so. On, it blends together beautifully and there are tones of honey over the Dragon's Blood that warm the scent on my skin. A little bit of spiciness adds depth. Hours later this oil is just as delicious as when it was first applied and almost as strong. A big bottle is on order and I think this may become my signature scent

In the vial this is all chocolate and though I love Velvet I'm a little hesitant because it is so chocolatey. Once on the orange blossom immediately shows through the chocolate tempering it a bit. After an hour or so a little hint of cherry comes though and it's a much nicer more rounded scent. At the three hour mark I really can't smell it any longer, only a faint touch left on my wrists. It's nice but doesn't last as long as my beloved Velvet. I think I'll use up the imp trying combinations with other scents such as O.

In the vial Desire is a hard scent to pin down and I can't pick out any individual notes but the overall effect is a pleasant floral. After drydown I can detect black patchouli coming through as the most prominent note with a faint flowery background, still very nice but rather muted, not what I was expecting for something called Desire. A few hours later the rose peeks out with a hint of vanilla adding a bit of sweetness to the black patchouli. It's a soft pretty scent that seems more innocent than erotic.
