Ouch---well, I found what I thought was impossible----an odor as bad as Czernobog. It *has* to be the civet, if I've nailed it down right. This imp smells like the breath of a horse who's been snacking on garlic, coffee and poop. So that's two now that have civet and make me sick. I'll be staying clear away from civet from now on. This oil is anything but sexual to me. *shivers*

A very classy, complex, intelligent (does that make sense?) floral with a bit of something sweet (wine maybe?). This is another one that I find hard to describe, but I love it, love it, love it!!! A need a bottle or two. 10mls at least!!

I'm having a hard time putting my finger on this one, but I know I like it. I also know that I smell incense, hard candy and some floral I can't indentify. Despite my lack of eloquence concerning this oil, I do love it. I may just have to get a big bottle before it's gone again, and in the meantime, I will definitely enjoy the hell out of this imp.

I loved this so much when I smelled my friend's imp of it, and I immediately made a swap to get a bottle, but once I owned it things changed slightly. I still love the smell yes, but for some reason it just disappears entirely once it hits my skin! Seriously, my skin is the best camouflage in the WORLD for this wonderful perfume. I'm sorely disappointed, but I found a home for my bottle with one of my best friends, and she adores it, so I don't feel the loss as much.

Wow! So it says "traditional masculine" but I don't care. I say again, WOW! Did you ever walk into a leather store and notice that overwhelming leather smell that hits you as you set foot inside? Well, that's De Sade. I could stay all day and smell those stores, and that's how I feel about this oil. It fascinates and captivates me in the way that the smells of new plastic shower curtains, gasoline, and those old ditto copies teachers used to make do. Fortunately, it's also way smarter to sniff this stuff than to sniff the former three. This will have to be a big bottle in the near future as I want to sprinkle it on everything and everyone.

Well, this isn't one I would've ordered on my own. I normally despise the floral aquatics---they smell like every actor/rockstar perfume that's come out lately. Nothing special and flimsy. I normally go for spicy, woodsy, headshop or heavy floral. But this was a freebie imp from one of my friends and, loving it so much, I've now acquired a bottle. What's funny is that with this one I cannot pick out individual notes at all. I can definitely tell there are florals and aquatics, but that's it. And the smell is amazing! A little sweet, a lot heavy. Very strong, you'd only need a bit. Somehow this scent relaxes me. It's also fabulous on a hot, humid day to put a drop on your hands and run it through your hair....mmmm...fabulous whiffs all day. Bottom line, I'm very pleased and when this bottle is gone, I'll be getting more.

A potent yogic oil that stimulates the kundalini, provokes spiritual awakening, and releases the energy seated in your root chakra. I don't think I'll be able to give the detailed, sometimes poetic, reviews others have on this one. Because to me, this one is as simple as they come. In the vial and wet: Strong smoke and pepper with a tad of patchouli. After drydown: Slightly weaker smoke and pepper with a tad of patchouli. When you put those things together, they sort of smell like the wood on a number 2 pencil. Hmm.. That's about it. Neither good nor bad. I'll use the imp slowly, but unless I get one of those BPAL sudden, unexpected surprises out of it, I won't be ordering more.

Most of BPAL's scent elicit a 'WOW' from me and this one is no different. In the bottle: Cedar. Wet: STRONG cedar. 30 mins: Hasn't changed a bit. Strong cedar. Thoughts: I have never seen a BPAL that didn't change AT ALL from beginning to end, not even a little bit, so this is a new and unusual reason for the "WOW". I don't personally want to smell like cedar, but I do love the smell, so I'll either be using this as a home scent or passing it on to my husband (I KNOW he'll like it, being a huge cedar fan). Whatever the outcome, I'm glad I got to try this.

When this oil first came out, I was listening to The Cure's song, Hanging Garden. It sold me and I immediately put in an order for 5ml, even though obviously no one had done a review yet and nor had I a chance to smell it. It could've turned out badly, but I'm glad to say it did not. My nose, however, is picking up things entirely different than what the other reviewers noses are detecting. In the bottle: Banana. That ripe banana you'd slice up and put on your cereal. Immediately on: Banana disappears entirely and a very strong scent of fig, peach and CINNAMON pops out. Oh, the cinnamon! 30 minutes on: The fig is gone, the peach is barely there, a sweet pear has made a shy entrance, and the cinnamon is slapping my face in a love-pat sort of way. Verdict: Good guess, good buy. Thoughts: This is not a day-time wear for me. Too much in-your-face sass that says, "You don't know me--you only think you do". But for night, if I'm wearing something hot and I feel strong enough to carry this off, this will be THE scent to apply. It'll have to be a night when I'm prepared for the attention though. This would also make a fantastic scent in an oil burner to add a bit of 'something' to a romantic night, or, if softened a bit with vanilla oil, it would be outstanding for Christmas. Edited much later, January: WOW. Still love this, and in fact, even more. I've also discovered that it is truly FANTASTIC layered with a rose scent. I've got it layered now with Peacock queen and whooaa! I'd be happy to be able to glue my nose to my wrist. Sexxxy!

Wow---straight out of the bottle...this is unexpected, WATERMELON!.....?? Strange! 5 minutes on: Watermelon is barely there now, and jasmine and fruit are strong. 10 minutes: Ok, now it's the same as at five minutes, only with gardenia and musk added. I know, it doesn't say musk, but seriously, I think I smell it. Hm! Overall: Well, I'm disappointed not to detect the patchouli (I LOVE patchouli), but I really like it anyway. I'm not sure I'd get a big bottle, but I'm definitely going to enjoy my imp. By the way, this mixes very nicely with Madrid.

WHOA. Who could've guessed that this would be THE scent for me? It was a freebie with another order (thank you, Beth!) and I am bowled over. O's classier sister. All the same with just a *little something* more. With the way it makes me feel, my husband isn't going to know what hit him when he gets home.

A commanding, dominant oil that increases sexual magnetism, creates an intense and irresistible air of attraction, and amplifies potency. In the vial, I smell smoke. And that's about it. Initial application: heavy smoke and jasmine 30 minutes on: Wow. Way better now. I don't get coca-cola, thankfully. The jasmine is still pretty strong, but what DID smell like wood smoke, has now morphed into a softer, sweeter incense smoke. And now there's somthing else there. I want to say vanilla, even, but I can't be sure. Whatever it is, I like this a lot. I keep sticking my head down inside my shirt to smell it---good thing I'm not in public. This will probably be a big bottle soon.

In the bottle: Is that maple syrup and licorice??? On: Did it suddenly turn into pure smoke? 5 mins on: Wow. Did it suddenly become the lightest, sweetest incense with not hint of what came before?? 10 mins on: Oh I definitely like this one. Odd, considering it's barely tolerable in the bottle or just on. But wow, just give it a few and it becomes incredibly pleasurable.

I took a chance on this one, buying 5mls without a sample or even reading any reviews. I am SO glad I did! Tell your grandmother's rose scents to move over. There is nothing sharp, dusty or overpowering about this rose, but the rose itself is still as true as it can be. The frankincense is there only enough to add an earthy softness to it. And I'm sure that it's either my imagination or my chemistry, but I'm smelling just the *slightest* tinge of ....well, something sweet and creamy, but it's not vanilla. Hmm..strange, but relaxing, peaceful and highly sophisticated. This perfume and I were meant to find eachother.

Hmmm......I'm fairly certain that the description doesn't mention almond, so why is that the main thing I smell once it's on? Well, either way, it's beautiful. Good thing for me that I do like almond. In the bottle I smell lemon and maybe some sort of sweeter fruit. Once on, I smell almond mainly, with lemon not far behind. 10 minutes on and it's lemon. Pure lemon and even the almond is gone. Strange, but very nice. This might be a 5ml in the future.

In the bottle this smells of too-sharp lavender. But after a few minutes on it's something else! The lavender is still there, but the honeysuckle has come out and sweetened and softened it a bit. I don't get the jasmine at all, but I can live with that. For some reason this brings to mind pictures of my childhood summers, exploring the forest by my house in Germany, coming home to find cool baths and freshly washed sheets on my bed. A very peaceful, calm, innocent scent. Highly relaxing.

I don't want to smell like coffee, much as I like the smell in a kitchen. But no worries, because when I put this on, I didn't get coffee at all. No, I got something far worse. Stale cigarettes. You know how, if you're not a smoker, but you get near someone who is, the smell of their clothes is just nauseating? Well, that's what I get right off. Oddly though, the drydown completely changes it, as most people on here agree. And when the stale cigarette smell is gone, it's jasmine. Pure, dry, strong jasmine with a tiny bit of tonka in the background. I'm lucky I like jasmine and tonka. I don't think I'd get a big bottle of this, but I may have the nerve to finish off the imp....IF I can get through five minutes of smelling like I smoke.

In the bottle: That cheap cinnamon potpourri you can get at Wal-mart. Overly sweet. Blech. 5 mins: much better now, though not fabulous. Cinnamon tea. 10 mins....whoa! Is this the same perfume?? It's turned into something lovely and completely unexpected. A spiced floral. Nothing cheap-smelling about it now. Sort of reminds me of Lush's Potion with a touch of something Aveda. I can't believe the difference after ten minutes! Yep, definitely going to like this one.

You did indeed nail this one perfectly. I have the same stuff (Kama Sutra honey powder) and it could be it's twin. If one couldn't use that as a description, I would say this: Sex in a bottle. Like being rubbed down with honey and er....working out...for the next 6 hours. THIS stuff will get you noticed in a hurry.

All of the notes listed are notes I like, so why is it that all I smell with this one is pure smoke? Really. It smells like those smoke-chips my dad puts in the BBQ. And that's not bad itself, but I can't imagine wearing it. I tried it on my husband to be sure and see what it would dry-down like. Same. Smoke. Way too strong. Too bad, because this is one I REALLY wanted to like.

Ok, you'll have to forgive my just being blunt about this one, but it's the only BPAL scent I've EVER smelled that made me want to gag. I don't necessarily like everything, but this is just ....wow..... In the bottle: Scary. Has a feces-like undersmell. Reminds me of something I smelled in a morgue once. I'm not kidding. On: same. Couldn't get it off fast enough. I threw it away. Can't bring myself to swap this one. I have a conscience.

Well, I don't know what orchid smells like exactly, but I can definitely smell the cedar and the cala. And what is this? Do I smell rose? I'm sure of it, even though the description says nothing about it. The dry down doesn't seem to change much from the initial application, which is pretty good. Wow. This would be a great one to drop in the tub if I really need to relax. I like it a lot.

Just got this in a swap today. In the bottle: Definitely Thyme. And that's about it. I didn't think I'd like it but I tried it on to make sure (learned my lesson with past BPAL) and: 1 minute in: Oh wow. It's changed completely. I can't smell the thyme anymore....at least not so strongly. I can definitely smell wood and some sort of dark floral. 5 minutes in: it's got a very soft dry down. Still the same smell as in the one minute check, only softer. Verdict: I'm really going to love this one. I'll have to be in the mood for it, since it's definitely a dark and mysterious scent, but it's beautiful.

Is it me, or does anyone else smell Christmas trees with this one? NOT that it's a bad thing--I like the smell!
