In the bottle: Freshly cut foliage. This is stronly reminiscent of a floral shop. First on: Fresh flowers and sweet-citrusy herbs. After a bit: Snipped stems, lemongrass, and an assortment of spring flowers. After a bit more: This turns into a fresher/greener version of Old New Orleans on me. Not my cuppa tea.

In the bottle: Slightly under-ripe strawberries and butter cream. First on: CARNATION!!!! and slightly under-ripe strawberries. After a bit: The carnation is still in your face, the strawberries are still slightly tart and now a creamy caramel scent is poking it's head through. After an hour: The carnation fades and so does the strawberry, a comforting milky scent is left, like oatmeal with a touch of caramel but no other spices. I really really love the dry down scent, but it's so close to the skin and almost completely faded out. The initial scent is far too overpowered by carnation for me. I'm torn on this one.

In the bottle: WOW! Rich, damp, freshly turned soil with a faint hint of moss. First on: It becomes richer, but smells the same. Like healthy, moist dirt. I simply adore this scent, not sure if I'll wear it, but you couldn't pry it out of my dead hands. This is THE perfect dirt scent. It reminds my husband of the Jelly Belly Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans in Dirt. It reminds me of slightly overcast days digging in the garden or going for a walk in a graveyard and coming across a freshly filled plot. Soil holds both the notes of life and death in it and Graveyard Dirt captures it perfectly. Edited to add: While my body chemistry was in a different state then when first tried, the second time I got cedar and mint when first on with soggy moss and wet leaves. It faded to a soft sweet cedar scent.

In the bottle: Herbs, cedar and dampness First on: Very strong on me, dark herbs, cedar and damp murky water. After a bit: A sweetness comes forth, enhancing the herbs and cedar. A slight saltiness is there with a faint smoke. This reminds me of old rotting wood, parts of it having been charred in ages long forgotten. Cold winds and still troublesome waters. Not the scent for me.

In the bottle: Sweet, crisp and cool. First on: Very wet and juicy. I'm getting a slight figgy/plum note here, with light green florals and a cool breath. After a bit: Sweet and icy. To me this is like the love child of Midwinter's Eve and Queen of Diamonds. A bit more: The juicy part is drying down, but the scent is remaining very wet with a flash of green. After a few hours: A clean aquatic scent doused with fern is left. I simply adore this. A perfect combination. If anyone has a bottle they wouldn't mind parting with

In the bottle: Civet and roses First on: Rose with a note of musky civet and a slightly cool breath. After a bit: This takes on a bit of a powdery/soapy note to it. The rose is still quite strong and the muskiness is still there, but it's much softer and elegant now. A bit more: The rose and civet take turns being dominant, but this still manages to remain soft on me and not all "animal". I really wish I liked rose based scents, because this is beautiful and soft. Like what a Victorian woman's vanity would smell like, slightly aged lace, scented powders, musky perfumes. But alas, I find they just aren't my thing even though I can appreciate them.

In the bottle: Neroli with a slightly bitter sweet whisper in the background First on: Neroli and berries. Very wet. After a bit: The neroli fades to the background and all I smell is sticky berries that have a slight tartness to them. It reminds me of eating Skittles. More time passed: If you love Skittles, this is the scent for you, sweet, juicy with a bit or tartness to it. Because that's all it's smelling like (which is a good thing if I say so).

In the bottle: Cinnamon hearts with a hint of clove and nutmeg First on: Very spicy with an underlying buttery sweet note After a while: Pure cinnamon and clove As much as I like this, I have another oil that smells EXACTLY like it (Pumpkin Spice by Creative Scentualization), so I'm sure this will find it's way into the hands of of someone who will cherish it.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Weird, I hated Bordello and love Midwinter's Eve (but I can see where you're coming from with the plum). I find on the dry down ME is very similar to Carnal. -
Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion
Spastik_Kitty replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
I swear they are sisters: Midwinter's Eve and Carnal smell almost identical on me when they're dry. It's the figgy plum thing. Relatives: The Unicorn and Nosferatu (hear me out). While Nosferatu is very dark and almost medicinal, there are underlying sweet herbal notes that become dominant when dry, well the same sweet herbs appear on my flesh with The Unicorn (in the bottle, and when dry) without the overshadow of decay. -
In the bottle: Ooh, bubbling champange and slightly under-ripe strawberries. First on: The champagne note is very strong and I get a faint whisp of tart strawberries. After a bit: This turns weird on my skin, I can't really explain it, but it's not a good thing. There are no wafts of strawberries or champagne. Off to the swap pile.

In the bottle: Nosferatu's spring sister. Herbal with white grapes and linden. First on: White grapes and herbs with a shot of something ozone/aquatic. After a bit: My skin eats this and it almost disappears Awhile after that: There it is again, now it's smelling exactly like the sweet herbal note in Nosferatu that I loved. It's very faint though. This might be best as a locket scent for me. ADDED April 20, 2006: Received as a frimp from the lab with my last order, just got around to testing all the frimps today. (yes I know, slap me, what was I thinking?) In the bottle: Wet, crisp with sweet herbs. Like the softer side of Nosferatu. First on: Very herbal, softly sweet and clean. After a bit: *sniff sniff* Where oh where did you go? I get the faintest hint of what was but my skin has devoured it whole. I really liked this one, too bad my skin likes it more and eats all but the fairest hint. Guess this will be going in my swaps unless I can get my hair to like it.

In the bottle: Very fresh and light, a pale green type scent. I'm getting linen, green tea, bamboo, a faint citrus and either pear or apple. First on: This is wonderful, the perfect spring scent, crisp fruit, linen and tea. After a while: There is a slightly sweet floral note to it now, but it's still beutiful and light. My skin adores this. It's going in my must get a 10ml pile. ADDED June 2: In the bottle: Fresh linen and crisp green apple. First on: A flash of green apple (but not the synthetic stuff) and a very strong linen with a faint hint of lemon. After a bit: Now I'm just getting lemon and linen. A bit more: It's remaining fairly similar throughout, though it seems to have developed a slight peppery edge. Mostly linen, sometimes apple, sometimes lemon poke their heads out. Very fresh and clean though. On me this is Dirty's sister, and I love them both.

In the bottle: Juciy dark fruits and incense First on: This is lovely, rich, dark and warm. A lush berry incense. Afer awhile: Poot, this is turning sour on me, my skin doesn't like resiny incenses, it turns too smokey with some powdery notes. I wanted to love you Cairo, but our affair was ever fleeting.
-
In the bottle: Cinnamon, vanilla and honey First on: Ow, this burned like a mofo, so I didn't get a chance to let it develop. I had to wash it off. Sad too because it smelled delish.
-
In the bottle: Oh my gods. Juicy plump fig and sweet mandarin. First on: Sweet, juicy, lush, rich. It smells the same on as it does in the bottle. After a while: The fig becomes the dominant note here, but it's still divine and juicy. It carries very close to the skin, but that's ok with me. I almost want to keep this scent to myself and not share it with others around me.. my little secret, my slice of Nirvana. I need a 10ml bottle of this. It's sexy, sultry, comforting and damn near irresistable.
-
In the bottle: Very rich and decadent. First on: This instantly turns to wax on my skin and didn't improve. Such a shame because it smells so divine in the bottle.
-
In the bottle: White musk, pine and citrus. Very clean and cool smelling First on: Stays true to it's initial scent After a bit: This gets rather soapy and sweet with some powder tones. Not the perfect match to my QOD that I was hoping for. Off to the swap pile.
-
This was not what I was expecting or hoping for. First sniff: Powdery and perfumey After a while: This reminds me of a Chanel perfume, not sure which one because I'm not a fan of any of them and avoid them like the plague. It's very warm and powdery and comes across on my skin very perfumey. Off to the swap pile

In the bottle: Wet fruit and cinnamon First on: The cinnamon is very strong, there is also a cool note. After a while: Juicy plums and fig with a hint of spice and snow. This very much a winter scent. I simply adore it. I had my sister in-law smell it and all she said was "This smells like Christmas, I need some!"

Vibrant with the joy and sweetness of life in death! A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits. Like many others, I got pure maple syrup at all stages. Which is all fine and dandy, but not what I was hoping for. I already have Demeter's Waffles which I never grab, so I think I'm going to have to put this in the swap list.

In the bottle: This is weird, I have two samples of this and each smell vastly different. One smells like mint and vanilla, the other one smells like amber and honey. O_o First on: Very minty, but creamy with notes of amber and powder. The other one, the dominant note here is honey, with slight traces of vanilla and amber. After several minutes: Cool and creamy, it kinda reminds me of a baby doll's head. The other one, smells the same without the cool sensation. After an hour: They both just smell like a creamy powdery amber now. I like this scent, but I wish the vanilla and honey were not so over powered by the amber and not turned into a powdery note.
-
In the bottle: A very strong sweet medicinal scent First on: The medicinal scent is combined with lush strawberry and incense After an hour: Strawberry incense is all I can really say to describe it. If you're into sweet incense scents than this would probably be for you. It's not for me.
-
In the bottle: Like water and foliage First on: Fresh cut grass and some spice that is reminding me of tummeric, I think it's the ginger. After an hour: On me this smells very similar to Dirty, but with tummeric added to it, which spoils the whole thing for me. Such a shame because the scent of the throw is incredible, just up close I get the other note that reminds me of an East Indian spice shop.

In the bottle: It smells fresh and sweet with a bit of citrus. First on: Quite fruity, but not deep dark fruits, light spring fruits. There are also pale floral notes lingering in the background. After an hour: I didn't do an after a few minutes because this has stayed the same on me, the balance is perfect, the light floral notes even out the sweetness of the fruit in a melody that sings of early spring in an enchanted garden. I smply adore this and it's being added to me 10ml bottle wishlist.
