In the bottle: Nutmeg, clove, ginger and sugar First on: This reminds me of my mother's kitchen while she was doing holiday baking. Mincemeat tarts, ginger snaps, chocolate rum balls, shortbread. After a few seconds: This scent is orgasmic, there is a slight fruity note to this that I can't really identify. It also holds buttery tones, spice and cake. After a few minutes: It smells like allspice cake that has burnt ever so slightly on the bottom. The fruity note is still there, and I still can't put my finger on it but I recognize it. After an hour: This is just allspice cake now, the fruity note is gone. The "burnt" note is a bit more noticable, but I'm still having to prevent myself from chewing on my arm. This to me is the definition of a gourmand scent. For one who is excessively fond of eating and drinking, or one who is heartily interested in good food and drink.

In the bottle: Sweet spiced rum First on: Rum that is heavily spiced with cinnamon and cloves After a few minutes: I'm just smelling cloves now After an hour: Mostly cloves with a slight nutty note, as well as a hint of citrus. I have several scents so very close to this already so I probably wont keep it. It's quite beautiful and deep though. Quote from my husband "When I smell this I think of pirates. And I don't think it's just because of Captain Morgan."

In the bottle: Lemon Drop candy First on: Lemon drops and fresh cut grass After a bit: The lemony scent is fading and now I'm smelling ginger, but a chemical ginger After an hour: Ginger with a faint hint of grapefruit and tea. After that: It's almost completely faded I really wanted to love this one, and I did while it was wet, but the dry down just isn't for me.

In the bottle: Strawberry Gonesh incense First on: Strawberry Hubba Bubba with a faint aroma of alcohol and spice. This is very sweet and juicy. It reminds me of that a lush red lipgloss should taste like. After a few minutes: It's smelling less like strawberry and more like plum and black currant. I'm getting an alcohol type smell but I wouldn't define it as either amaretto or wine, there is also an underlying note of incense. It's making my mouth water. After 30 minutes: Sweet lush plum and deep red wine still with an underlying note of incense. After an hour: It's staying pretty much the same now, plum wine and incense. It's sweet, but not cloyingly so. I like this, enough to use the imp up but not sure if it's enough to purchase a larger bottle.

In the bottle: Wet juicy cherries with a warm undertone. First on: It becomes more obvious the cherry scent if from almond. It smells like Disorano Amaretto with a slight hint of saffron and amber. This is heavenly. After a few seconds: This morphs into a rich comfortable scent. The almond is a faint wisp and the lotus and amber and more dominant now. After a few minutes: Amber amber amber, oh how I love thee. The amber is very dominant and hardly any other notes are coming through. On occasion I will get a slight waft of cardamon (I double checked my herb rack to make sure this is what I was smelling). I do wish that the Egyptian Musk would rear it's head and that the almond would have stayed around, but it's beautiful nonetheless. After an hour: It's now a sultry faded amber with a kiss of saffron. I'm going to have to try The Lion before I decide on a bottle.

I find White Rabbit has a second skin quality on me. It doesn't seem to have much throw and it's a nice comfort scent you just want to nuzzle in to. I don't find it foody (even though it smells exactly like warm milk) and I don't find it heavy (which even though I find amber can be comforting, I also find it can be very heavy) and you get a nice hint of spice (but not heavy spice or incense) from the pepper).

In the bottle: A sweet cedar On: This starts off as a strong sweet cedar and morphs into a sweet powder cedar with some pungent notes to it, like damp rotting wood, or chips that have been sitting in the bottom of a rabbit cage for a little too long and need changing. This smells quite different on my hubby and I'm glad, because he really likes it. On him it smells more like a forest of driftwood with a soft powdery tone to it. As he describes it "A foggy day at a lake in the middle of a forest"

In the bottle: It smells exactly like white tea with pepper First on: The milkiness comes through and the pepper gives a wonderful cooling sensation. It still smells more like a white tea than a black, but that's probably because of the linen. After 30 minutes: This is so smooth and creamy with a hint of pepper, but without the dusty aspect of pepper. I get more of a bone or ivory colour from this than white. After an hour: This is so soft and milky with a faint touch of sweet, I simple adore this. This is a second skin scent on me. I wish it had a bit more throw, but I'm fine with that.

In the bottle: Fresh air, linen, newly cut flower stems. First on: Wow this is some powerful stuff. It's a bright white scent. Very aquatic mixed with light florals, that freshly cut flower stem scent and a cool breeze. After a few minutes: Maybe a garden right after a rain storm without the worm or earthy smell. Just fresh, awake, rejuevenated. It does hold very "clean" characteristics, but not in a soapy way on me. Everything is nicely balanced here, even though I'm not get any berry notes. After maybe 20 minutes: Ooh, there is the berry. It reminds me of those Strawberry Shortcake dolls when I was a kid (without the plastic mind you). But this is fading quickly on me. After 30 minutes: This is almost completely gone on me now. I'm getting a faint scent when I shove my nose right onto my wrist. Why is it the scents I like the most don't ever last on me? I might see about turning this into an EDP to see if it will last longer on my clothes.

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion
Spastik_Kitty replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
To me and on my skin these smell similar: Eris and Water Of Notre Dame seem to carry a lot of similar notes, WOND I find a bit heavier with a herbal note while Eris is a bit softer and lighter. Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo and Hollywood Babylon on the dry down. ACJM is the innocent version of HB. HB is a bit heavier with an incense tone to it. -
In the bottle: Very wet pale fruits with notes of rain and light florals First on: I'm getting the same rocket candy type notes I did in Eris, must be a similar fruit and floral combinaton, I'm also noting more water and grassy notes. After a few minutes: The same as above but now I'm getting a slight dustiness and there is a touch of herb lurking there. After 30 minutes: This is starting to turn sour on me, a really bitter herbal note is coming through that is over powering the notes I'm enjoying. I'll give it another 30 and see how it is. After an hour: That bitter note is still there mixed with some very lovely notes. Oh well, guess it just wasn't meant to be.

In the bottle: Cherry cough syrup and something smokey First on: Cherry cough syrup and burnt wood After a few seconds: Synthetic red fruits, vanilla and incense. After some time: Smells like sweet synthetic cherries and vanilla with a slight burnt/smokey note. This is so similar to many other BPALS and carries that smokey note I'm just not fond of.

In the bottle: It smells like watermelon candy and something that's soured. First on: Very very watermelon with a slight hint of something that's spoiled (I think this is a strange wet mix of the mimosa and spices) After a few seconds: This develops into a soft scent that reminds me of rocket candy (the odd spoiled smell is 100% gone). After an hour: Rocket candy with a hint of soft powder. If this was a colour I would see it as a pale lilac. This scent is quite beautiful and I'm glad it worked well with my chemistry and the weird note just vanished. It's soft, delicate, innocent and pure smelling.

In the bottle: It smells like regular flavoured bubble gum. First on: Bubblegum, sticky sweet berries and a hint of cotton candy After a bit: Gooey stickyness. I love it. After an hour: I can note the marshmallow that someone mentioned, but I'm wondering if that's a subconscience thing. It's staying sweet, but not in an offensive cloying way, more in an innocent, jovial, youthful way. I really adore this one and can see how it would cheer one up if they were feeling a bit glum. It has a certain "kid in a candy store" aspect to it. Not something for everyday wear, but definately something for when you're wanting to feel child like.

In the bottle: Clean, crisp, white with a hint of light floral First on: Very light and comforting, it smells like sheets drying out in the sun. Fresh linen, a bit of grass, some white flowers and something a tad sweet which I can't identify. After a few seconds: I'm smelling.. is it Downy? As well as crisp linen, and if a warm breeze could have a scent, I'm smelling that. Light white flowers, and a tiny hint of freshly cut grass. After an hour: Well the scent is staying pretty much the same on me even though it's fading quickly. It does carry a slight creamy note to it now, but that doesn't take away from the original impression. I simply adore this scent, I actually get to imagine what it would be like to be a linen sheet hung up on the line, drying in the sun as a gentle breeze brings the delicate scents of summer to dance around me. Now if only there was a way to make this stronger and last longer on me!

In the bottle: Medicinal, herbal, pine with a hint of BO First on: Very strong, menthol, pine and that weird BO note After a few seconds: Ahh, the BO note is smelling more like dill. After a few minutes: Earthy, musty, medicinal, herbal with an undertone of dill. Very much a dark green scent. It's gotten much softer though. A few more: Leafy, earthy. The dill is gone now. This is what I would imagine a "witch's garden" would smell like, deep in the woods hidden by marshes. I've tried to grow the herb to no avail, so I can't compare the actual scent. Not my cuppa tea, but I would highly recommend to those who like dark green earth scents.

In The Bottle: A very cool toned citrus floral with a hint of wood. First on:The floral end stands out a bit more on my skin than the citrus. A very fresh cool breeze feeling to this. Certain aspects of it reminds me of The Body Shop's Snow home oil. After a few seconds: The grapefruit has become more noticable. This scent remains cool and fresh but holds a soft quality to it. After a few minutes: This scent is staying pretty much the same on me. A cool watery floral with equal notes of crisp citrus and warm wood. I really like the balance here. After an hour: It now is a bit warmer on me, with a slight hint of white musk it would seem. I absolutely adore this scent. It reminds me of winter's first snow fall. Innocent, pure, clean, invigorating and holds memories of comfort snuggled under a warm blanket with a good book. If anyone has any of this they want to get rid of, please contact me and we can make arrangements.

In the bottle: Holy flower power Batman. First on: Extremely strong floral After a few seconds: The floral notes are still very strong and a soapy note is coming forth. It reminds me of a Victorian soap. After an hour: I can still smell a floral soap but now some other notes of burning wood and pecans are becoming the dominant scent. A bit after that: No more floral or soap, just a nutty campfire scent which is nice but rather faint. To me this smells nothing of the New Orleans of today, but I can imagine this is what it would smell like walking around the quarter at the begining of the 1900s. Strong floral soaps, burnt wood and pecans. A time where the city caught on fire on a regular basis, people doused themselves in strong floral scents to hide the fact they hadn't showered for days and the pecan trees pelt you while you walk past (they still do this mind you). An innocent scent hiding a sordid past.

In the bottle: Smells medicinal and carries note of dark herbs. First on: I smell mint of maybe eucalyptus and it's apothecary scent is very strong. After a few minutes: It still smells herbal but no longer in the dark green sorta way, it's growing rather warm on my skin with note of something similar to an Egyptian musk, but not quite. I'm also getting faint hints of red wine. After an hour and more: If Ricola made a grape cough drop, this is what it would smell like. A light grape scent (not the over powering synthetic grape) and medicinal herbs. Parts of me really likes this, and parts of me can't get passed the medicinal notes.

In the bottle: Smells like civet and roses with a hint of incense. First on: Smells like roses, dust, civet and a slight note of musk. After a few minutes: Still rather dusty smelling, the rose has faded to more of a tea rose, more of a warm musk coming out now, with a hint of something earthy/herbal. A few more: The musk has become creamier with a slight note of soap, the rose and dusty notes are almost gone. After an hour and a bit: A slight dusty scent is back, same with a bit of rose and a faint hint of musk. There is also a whisp of a peppery powder. Now it's only really noticable when I stick my nose right in close to my wrist.

In the bottle: Smells like Cherry flavoured cough syrup First on: Wow, this is very strong and smells like cherries and baby powder. After a few seconds: It smells like a baby powder deodorant gone wrong on me. Very very heavy, sweet, powdery. After maybe 15 minutes: I'm smelling almonds, rancid baby powder and something by Chanel (can't remember which #). After an hour: It's still very over powering and a concotion on almond and powder. Some time after that: It just got stronger and stronger on me, no signs of fading and I started feeling dizzy and nauseous so I scrubbed it off, twice and I'm still getting a faint hint. I've never had this kind of reaction to a perfume before. I'm sorry to say this didn't agree with me at all. Such a shame because my husband really likes it. ETA:My husband tried this on and it has a soft amber-almond scent on him. I want this to smell like that on me.

In the bottle: It smells like sweet sticky bubble gum. Mmm First on: Bubble gum with hints of citrus, lotus and violets After a few minutes: The Lotus and violet scent is predominant now After 20 minutes: Now it's smelling like wax and fading very quickly. It's a shame that this one doesn't agree with me, I really enjoyed the first few minutes with it.

This has got to me my favorite BPAL thus far. In the bottle: Smells like a fresh bouquet of spring flowers picked in a rainy garden First on: All I smell is linden blossoms, lilies, lilac and a hint of ocean. After a bit: Same as above but I'm now getting a slight sweet incense note as well (the Dragon's Blood is now showing it's face). It's reminding me a lot of Kama Sutra's Treasures Of The Sea bath salts. A bit more: It's smelling more aquatic with notes of ozone and a touch of soapiness. Several hours later, the scent is rather faint, a slight salty/aquatic/floral, no notes of Dragon's Blood. When I smell this I think of sitting on a white sand beach in some exotic location with the aquamarine waves splashing at my feet. Hints of sacred inscense and delicate flowers being offered to the God's waft in on the breeze.

Sinfully sweet and sumptuously sexy. In the bottle: Smells like a box of cherry and orange chocolates smothered in honey. First on: A sticky indulgence of syrupy honey, mixed with orange candies and a slight floral note. After a few hours: I just smell honey and rose, both in equal levels, the orange/candiness of it has disappeared. Overall a little too heavy a scent for my personal regular use but I'm still tempted to gnaw my wrists off it smells so yummy. I wonder what this would smell like lightened up maybe with a white floral/white musk or slight mint/aquatic note.

The answer to the mystery is sought in the name. In the bottle: *whack!* ROSES with a shy friend of earth. First on: Rose takes a back step and introduces Soured Sangria while Earth has started to leave After a few hours: Incense, Soap, Red Wine and Rose dance the evening away on my wrist. Not a subtle scent in the slightest. This is very much a scent for those who are enthralled with roses and hidden back corners.
