    The Churchyard

I have tested and re-tested this one as well. Can't decide whether I like it or not. It goes on floral, with a lot of rose, and I don't like floral, as a rule. I'm almost tempted to wash it right off, but not quite. There is blackberry coming in, and it's anchored by the more dark/herbal stuff in the background. I would say that the comparisons to Passionate Shepherd are accurate, it's that kind of scent, in a way, but a bit darker? After all, it's a churchyard, not a meadow...

    Sugar Skull

On me, this starts out as brown sugar. I'm not getting any fruit. As it dries, I start to get a bit of the "burnt" note, as someone else mentioned. Weird. I think I'll be happy with just an imp.

    Huesos De Santo

Orange-glazed cake, dotted with anise seed, and filled with custard, set beside a bouquet of celebratory funeral flowers. Guh. Buttery orange pound cake with custard, and anise topping. I want to chew off my arm. It dries down to an anisey-orange-floral, with hints of the buttery custard left. Like others have said, I wish the initial stage lasted longer, but I like the dry down, too. Definately worth buying a bottle.

    Day of the Skulls

Wet--ROSES, hello! As it drys down, the spices and resins come out, and thankfully, the rose calms down--some. I can get whiffs of the cocoa. Still, too much rose and florals for me, I think.

    Graveyard Dirt

2008 Version. On wet, it smells like mushrooms. Then a sweetness comes in. Turns to a light loamy note, fades out. I guess my skin eats it up.

    To Autumn

On wet, I get the smell of really ripe apples, like the ones that drop from the trees and sit, or maybe "cider apples". There are dry leaves, and earth, with the "aquatic" mistiness of a cool fall morning. Also the smell of freshly cracked walnuts. As it drys down, I'm left with the aquatic and the "nutmeat" scent, with just a breath of leaves. I like the initial stage best, not sure I like the drydown enough to spring for a bottle, but will keep my decant for sure.

    Samhain

Bandaids here, too. And spicy bandaids on the drydown. *sigh* Skin chemistry.

    Pumpkin IV (2008)

I didn't expect to like this one at all. I can't stand cedar, or pine. Just threw this one into my decant order as the "least offensive notes" pumpkin of the patch. It is the dark horse favorite of the bunch. Apparently, the cedar and pine are being beaten into submission by the cherry tobacco, vanilla and pumpkin, leaving just trace to peek out on the drydown. This is just gorgeous, buttery, and rich. All the notes come together beautifully. I can't stop sniffing my arm. Definately getting a bottle, maybe two!

    The School-House

This scent reminds me of being outside in late summer, perhaps Indian Summer is a better description. It's very evocative as a scent memory, and I like smelling it, but it's one of those where I'm not sure I want to smell like it. The imp may be enough, we'll see.

    Katrina van Tassel

This is a "fresh" rose that is almost green smelling, to me. I get a bit of the honey sweetness. It goes a bit "dryer sheet" on my skin. I don't get much of the cream note. She's not the girl for me!

    Fearful Pleasure

In the vial, spicy apple cider. On my skin, Yankee Candle Store. I can see why people would like it, though.

    Schwarzer Mond

Ok, this just isn't fair! On me, this smells like a musty, damp towel left in the laundry basket! I think the culprits might be the dark amber and night musk. I'm going to let it age a bit and try again. Damn you skin chemistry!

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

I'm not so good at picking out notes, but here goes... MCCLIV (1254) Wet, my nose is going crazy...coffee, floral, fruity? What the heck? Then it dries down to...tea. A wonderful tea scent. A cup of tea with cream and sugar, a nice strong darjeeling, with a hint of lemon in it. Weird. Now the lemon is coming out a bit stronger, but it's a "soft" lemon. I usually amp lemon as lemon pledge, but this isn't doing that. It's sort of foody and sweet, like lemon meringue. The tea is still wafting in and out in the background. I wonder what will happen when it settles/ages. I got three other scents with my order, they are all on various parts of me right now, but this is the one that keeps attracting my attention. A definite keeper. I'm three out of four with Chaos Theories, I wish I had gotten more!

    Gunpowder

As a horse owner for 30 years, I know horse scents! Wet on the skin, this is a bucket of "sweet feed" in the grain room. It goes a bit maple-y, which doesn't quite fit. Then it turns to cut oats, with a bit of dry hay, and a bit of musk. Like standing very close to a horse who's eating oats for dinner. A bit of apple coming through. Someone threw a treat in the feed bucket. Very light wood in the background. The maple keeps coming up, though, and it's throwing me off. Molasses, yes, but no maple in any feed I've ever fed. It's a keeper, but I think one bottle will do. And I LOVE the artwork on the bottle!

    The Coiled Serpent

This one's almost a dead ringer for some "Samhain" oil I got at a Renaissance faire a couple of years ago. I don't know what's in that one, or in this, but I like it. I'm not a big fan of straight-up or overly fresh/strong patchouli, and I'm not getting that from The Coiled Serpent. It is heavy and warm. Definately a down and dirty, earthy scent. It's similar, to my nose, to Voodoo. Something I would wear more for ritual, or at home, than for going out, I think. Definately unisex, bet it would smell great on a man.

    Ulalume

I grabbed this one from the imp box and put it on on my way out the door to work one morning. Had no idea what the heck I had done. First I got hit with LILIES OMG LILIES! I amp them to high heaven, and this blend is no exception! And then overwhelming leafy dirt, as if someone had thrown big handful of it at me! Then back to lilies, then dirt, lilies, dirt... Couldn't wash it off fast enough! The dirt note was very interesting, but the lilies just killed me. Sorry, not for me!

    Anything that smells like silage?

I don't think I have a clue what silage smells like, but fresh horse feed smells SO GOOD (which I'm hoping is what will come of the combo of molasses, maple oats, and hay in Gunpowder). It's sweet and tangy and a little oat-y (powdery?), and I want to roll around in it. Actually, the smell of horsefeed isn't too dissimilar from fresh silage (not up close but on the air). I'm looking forward to my decants of both Gunpowder and John Barleycorn, may be winners there! I actually love the taste and smell of fresh, farm-grown carrots. They have a very spicy flavor that you don't get from those anemic baby carrots in grocery stores, and I can see how that would translate well to a fragrance. Ahhhhhh, fresh REAL carrots with DIRT still on them! Rinse them off with the hose and eat. You are right, they are so very different from what you get in the supermarket! You have me craving them now! I wish I could grow them here, but my soil has too much clay, they need a looser/sandier soil to do well...

    Anything that smells like silage?

It's funny how most people think of New York State as an industrial metropolis all over, when most of the state is ... farmland. Following the Thruway? Buffalo, cows, Rochester, cows, Syracuse, cows, Utica, cows, Albany, cows, Poughkeepsie... okay, more like mountains and river there, and then you get NYC. But there's a whoooole lotta farm country. That said, I'm not sure myself what silage smells like from experience - because, you know, cows. Cows eat silage...

    Anything that smells like silage?

How about Agricultural Scents? The two scents are kind of different, to my nose. Cornfield is sweet corn, and green stalks, and sun-kissed, with some dry earth to it, to me. But they're both corn. And actually, I'm from the Northeast, but there is farm country here, too. Or at least there WAS!

    Anything that smells like silage?

I grew up around farms myself, so I know exactly what smell you're talking about! I have Hay Moon, and you're right, it's sort of there, but it's more dried-out sileage, wafting on the breeze, to me. It is missing the fermented tang and sweetness of up-close sileage. I'm with Ahania, high hopes for Gunpowder, and possibly John Barleycorn, too! Hmmm, maybe a layering of both? Drunken Horse scent? Fermenting Stable?

Chaos Theory IV: Edge of Chaos

Two out of three ain't bad! Not crazy over my first Chaos, but these next two... DCCLXVI (766): Fruity, don't ask me what kind of fruit. Haven't figured that out yet. Or what else is in there that makes it smell so divine. Some type of floral? But not one of the ones that gives me headaches. All I know is that I likes it! DCCLXVII (767): Straight out of the bottle, chocolate. Like Thirteen 2008 chocolate. Then it morphs a bit fruity/floral with the chocolate. You'd have to pry this one out of my cold dead hands! I have a feeling these aren't the last two Chaos Theories I will order before they come down!

    Snow, Glass, Apples

Just received mine today. Fairly new to the LE's, this is a very distinctive scent for me. At first I definately get the apple, very tart, with the icy component, and some light floral. It stays rather "cool", but the apple loses it's edge, it's still there in the background, but the floral comes forward, with some musk, and a slightly sharp tang to it? There is still some of the "coolness" left. It is beautiful, and would probably be a favorite if it was more widely available. I will treasure my one bottle, but I don't think I will rabidly search for more, given it's rarity. The bottle, in and of itself, is a work of art.

The Passionate Shepherd To His Love

To me, this smells exactly like lying down in a field of fresh purple clover. Which is exactly what I was hoping it would smell like. I LOVE that smell! But somehow, I don't want ME to smell like that... So I'm happy and somehow dissapointed at the same time? It's exactly what I wanted, and I wouldn't swap it, but I don't think I'll wear it that much. I'd make a room spray, as someone else suggested, but it REALLY is the ultimate clover scent for me, and it's LE... *sigh*

    Penumbra

Woody, herbal, musk, touch of resin with a bit a fruit and sweetness thrown in. Dark, but not oppressive. And most definately, as everyone else has said, PURPLE. I have never had a fragrance BE a color like this one. It is most definately a keeper, I am very glad I purchased a bottle.

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream

This is just the most gorgeous thing! Blueberries! And here comes some vanilla! I feel like Violet Beauregard chewing the gum in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory! I think I can smell the squash blossum! Here comes the tea!
