Not too big on apple scents but I liked the description. Starts off like a sweet apple scent with little spice. After awhile the scent turns creamy and smells like apple strudel hot out of the oven with a hint of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream melting in the warm juices. It pretty much stays that way and lasts for hours. The spices are light and the milk note just softens it up a bit to add creaminess. I like it and it's the best apple scent that I ever tried. I may hold onto the bottle for those autumn days when you just want to curl up with a hot cup of tea, wrapped in a throw, snuggled next to the cat.

Sadly I don't get the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice scent. On me, it's all caramel. No pumpkin or spice. And I was sooo hoping for that delicious smell.

I almost didn't see this in the box. I thought this might be a very sweet scent, but I agree that this is black licorice. I also can detect a bit of mint. A nice surprise. Love the label art. Adorable.

Juicy fruit gum about sums it up. If I was 13, I might like it.

I agree with the last post. I usually don't love florals, but seem to love the lab's lily notes. This is so pure, not overpowering or headache inducing. Just beautiful. The honey just warms it up. Along with Eos, Tiger Lily is among my favorite florals. Glad I got a bottle before it's discontinued.

Am I the only one that got popcorn out of this?? Weird. I was hoping for a light summer scent. I like honey, milk and don't mind powder. What went wrong?? It was a very warm scent on me. Not clean at all on me. I couldn't imagine wearing this in the summer cause it made me feel hot. I kept smelling popcorn, butter perhaps? I struck out on both bottles this time...Berry Moon and STinky.

I so wanted to love this. I just touched the cap of the bottle to my arm and my daughter said "whew, I don't like that". I got a blueberry scent, like the scent from the Blueberry shortcake dolls. Very fake and too sweet for me. I like Strawberry Moon much better for a fruit scent. I never got the green, which would have toned it down. Perhaps the fig also added to the sweetness. Sold off my bottle to someone who I know will love it.

Starts out like think mints and then the cedar come out and takes over. I prefer Tokyo Stomp to this if you want a chocolate mint scent. Chocolate scents don't really work on me, except maybe for Velvet. It was fun to try though.

This would be great in the dead of summer. It's a very clean smelling scent. I agree with everyone that it's not like the crap at Bath and Body Works. This is definitely cucumber, fresh and crisp. I like it but it fades quick. I would have to take a bath in this.

Strawberry Moon 09 is amazing. I usually don't do strawberry well. It smells fake on me. But this year's Strawberry Moon is delicious and authentic. It makes your mouth drool!

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

Every time I wear Snake Oil and walk into Trader Joe's, I get stopped by people, mostly men. For the second week in a row, a male worker came up to me and said "I just had to tell you..you smell great". And it's not a pick up line since he was about 25 and I am 52. Yet, I can wear it to work and my female friends don't seem to notice it. Does anyone else get this reaction? -
Wet, I get the pineapple and coconut, but mostly the pineapple. As it dries the pineapple disappear and the coconut is the dominant note. Thankfully, it's not the coconut in Snow White that turned into a car freshener on me and made me gag. This is more like the coconut in Black Pearl. Not getting much florals but as it softens it's a nice blend of coconut and pineapple with a touch of vanilla thrown it. Not sure how I feel about this one yet since I am starting to think I like the idea of coconut, better than smelling like one. This is not as fruity and light as hoped, more smoky on me. Need to retest.

TKO- lavender and vanilla. Always puts me to sleep.

I wanted a floral scent that wasn't overwhelmingly strong and sweet. Something that smelled like lilies, lilac's or honeysuckle. I decided I was tired of trying imps and went ahead and purchased Eos without testing. A risky thing given most of the Lab's florals are sucked away by my skin's chemistry. I tried Tiger Lily and loved it but it vanished so quickly. I feared Eos would do the same. This is one amazing scent. The best of all the florals that I have tried, Black Lily, Tiger Lily, Tissue, Amsterdam, Flower Moon 05, 09, Danube, etc. etc. etc. This is pure honeysuckle. Can't really pick out the buttercup or jasmine, which is just fine by me. It's the type of scent that you get when a warm breeze kicks up and you smell the honeysuckle lingering in the air. Very warm and long lasting. This also has great throw, which is unusual also for me. I dabbed it on early this morning and it is still going strong 9 hours later. Doesn't morph either. This is the perfect spring time scent. I really lucked out on this one. Glad I took the chance. Love it!!

I never had luck with any of the Lab's strawberries. Most smelled like Strawberry Shortcake. With that in mind, I hesitantly bought Strawberry Moon based on willcall reviews. In the bottle it smells like strawberry puree freshly cooked. Tart fresh strawberries. No sign of that fake strawberry smell. Wet- it stays the same as in the bottle. OMG this is so delicious. A few minutes later it just about disappears...oh no, where did you go? About 10 minutes later, the fresh strawberry note is back! No sign of dandelion and very little green. Just luscious, slightly tart strawberries. As it dries 2 hours later the berries sweeten, but never become cloyingly sweet. Lucky for me it doesn't turn to candy. It stays fresh and tart. I usually don't buy berry scents. This is just gorgeous!!! Edit: Wore it today and it lasted all day. Didn't fade on me. Not much throw but that is usual for me with BPAL. So glad that I ordered 2 bottles on impulse!!

While I recommended Mouse..., you might find it light since you like heavier scents.

If you want more of a pure vanilla, I would go with either Mouse with the long sad tail or Antique Lace. I don't get florals in either and may agree that when I tried Mouse it didn't wow me. However, while wearing it, I did get two people compliment me, so maybe it smelled better than I thought. May have to retry that one. Antique Lace also gets me compliments. It has a stronger throw and lasts long. Stays pretty consistent throughout. My friend who is a vanilla fanatic, but doesn't wear BPAL, loved this on me. I love Snake oil aged, but I agree with you. It isn't a scent that I would call vanilla. HOwever, that being said...it's the one scent that iI originally didn't like at all, and now love. It's my comfort scent and one that people stop me and comment on. Lyonesse, Bastet are more amber to my nose. The Illustrated Woman has a pine note that seems to dominate it. Morocco is lovely on my daughter , but had a strong incense smell to it on me. Inez is smokey amber with vanilla. I don't get any vanilla in Dorian. I just don't like it. Smells like lemon tea to me. Dan O'Shee is pure honey with milk. No vanilla. Tried Love's Philosophy once and remember a minty smell similar to toothpaste. I probably didn't give it enough time. So, to summarize...my vote goes to Antique Lace and Mouse for that simple pure vanilla scent.

I have been looking for a good floral and I found it! Tiger Lily is beautiful. I love lillies and this one is perfect. Unlike Black Lily, which was pretty also, this lasts so much longer because of the honey. Not too sweet and the honey doesn't overpower the lily. I woke up and could still smell it. Bottle worth for sure.

I have been looking for some florals despite the fact that they aren't my favorite. I thought I ought to broaden my horizens and maybe make my coworkers stop thinking I am strange for my choice in scents. Got Sundew today off Ebay and it's nice enough. Seems like an ordinary women's perfume without the headache and nausea that I usually get from Department store perfumes. Smells clean and bright without being too sweet and cloying. There is a greeness to it that helps balance the flowers. A little seems to go a long way and it stays pretty even without any morphing. This will be good for work, weddings, etc or a rainy spring day when I need a little sunshine. I now have Flower Moon 09, Sundew and Tissue. Of the three, I like Flower Moon best because the honey blends with the wildflowers, making it not seem like a true floral. Sundew and Tissue are more true florals with Sundew being warmer and sunny and Tissue, sharper and white. I still prefer Amsterdam, but can't see buying it because it vanishes within 1 hour. Now to find a nice lily scent, and I should have enough florals to last my lifetime. Edit: Initially this was very floral with a slight lemony feel, similar to Embalming fluid. It smelled like you were laying in grass filled with dandelions, tulips or daffodils. After 10 minutes it started to sweeten up into something playful. I couldn't put my finger on it but when my husband hugged me he said "you smell like bubble gum". It's the cinnamon that so many people have mentioned. It doesn't burn at all, but it does change the floral into something more unique. Edit again: It now has taken on a bit of melon. Got quite a few comments when I walk into stores..."something smells good"

Daffodils, Narcissus, Paperwhites... and Hyacinth

I tried doing a search for reviews for Kitsune-Tsuki but it didn't come up. -
I have been looking for a floral that would celebrate Spring. Actually, I wanted a floral scent that reminded me of walking into a florist..fresh cut flowers. This is not exactly what I was looking for because to me, it's not really that floral. I guess I am used to overpowering floral perfumes that induce head aches and nausea. Many of the Lab's florals don't work on me either. My skin just eats them up (Amsterdam and Black Lily). However, Flower Moon has the same effect on me that Chrysanthemum Moon does. In a way, it reminds me of Chrys. Moon. It lasts and is not overpowering. It's not sharp or white. Not your typical floral at all and not your grandma's type of floral either. Initially when wet, I get a mix of wildflowers. I am not good at picking out notes, so I won't even try. I really can't pick out the daffodil or jasmine or honeysuckle. They seem to be well blended as most reviews have said. I don't get any fruity notes either. The honey is light but surrounds the flowers. Honey can take over in many of the BPAL scents, but not here. I amp honey so I am really happy that it allows the flowers to come out. When I sniff my arm I get a vision of sitting in a field of wildflowers on a warm summer day. A pleasant surprise and perfect for this time of year. Edit: I would not classify this as a floral at all, at least not on me. This is more reminiscent of Mead Moon. Totally different than Flower Moon 05, which reminds me of Tissue, only softer and a touch sweeter, as if it had some Tiger Lily in it. More yellow than white if that makes sense.

Daffodils, Narcissus, Paperwhites... and Hyacinth
Scanmike replied to jarvenpa's topic in Recommendations
I love the smell of Hyacinths and Daffodils. I usuallly don't like florals but I guess I need Spring to arrive soon. Any recommendations for a light, not perfumey Spring flower scent. Something true and breezy. Like smelling a bouguet of fresh flowers. I had an imp of Amsterdam, which I know is tulip, but I remember that it faded quickly. Any other ideas? Thanks. -
Invasion of the Flesh-Eating Reindeer from Uranus

I have to agree with the post above. Wet, it starts out gingerbready with alot of butter rum. I fear the alcohol from the butter rum. Then the butter rum starts to quiet down and the gingerbread comes forward with something strange and unfamiliar, and puts the alcohol to rest. Can't really pick out the note but maybe it's the musk coming through. Not sure if I detect fruitcake, but perhaps it's all blended together so well it's difficult to separate the notes. It becomes soft gingerbread, musky with something else. Not foody at all to me. Seems rather light and not sure how long it will last. It's been hours and if I smell my wrist there's a lovely, non plasticy vanilla left on my wrist. A strange scent that I seem to like and probably will keep. I bet this will age wonderfully. BTW. totally different that GP on drydown. Less foody and softer. -
I have weird chemistry so wet this started off almost gingery. Perhaps the pinesap or clove gave this feel to it. Whatever it was, it was ginger..but more of a true sharp ginger. After reading other reviews, I see others are getting the Shub/GP vibe, rather than cinnamon. Then it sort of went soft and the same thing that happened with Egg Nog started to happen. It was vanishing. My skin was sucking everything out of it. A sandlewood or some type of wood came thru and dominated for about 5 minutes. I feared the worst...that it would turn to pencil shavings like Egg Nog. But wait, then it morphed again and it became sweeter and stronger like Big Red gum or Red hot. Enter the cinnamon finally. Still morphing into somethilng softer and creamier, but not too foody, with creamy vanilla coming in. It lasts pretty long (4 hours) and in the end stage it really, really smelled like cinnamon flavored rice pudding. The most fast morphing scent I ever tried. I was looking for a sub for Gingerbread Poppet and this will be perfect. I even like the drydown better. It's doesn't have that cookie note that GP has, which makes in a bit different. Glad I finally decided to get a bottle.

This might sound weird but the first few minutes I smell tobacco in this. I initially thought "oh no, sell it", but after about 10 minutes I get this lovely vanilla amber scent with a touch of something sweet that must be orange blossom. I can see why someone said orange blossom snake oil. This is surprisingly nice. A keeper. edit 4/11/09 I absolutely love this. In fact, every time I wear this someone compliments me. This has become one of my all time favorites. I find I am reaching for it every day. I have already used up 3/4 of a bottle and that is highly unusual for me. It's that lovely. I no longer get the snake oil comparison. Mainly amber and orange blossom that seems to last all day long. Beautiful! My only regret is that I have only 1 backup bottle and will need to hunt down another.
