This is driving me to distraction!!!!!!!! It smells *exactly* like something very specific, and I just can't fucking place it!!! It smells very buttery, and a bit like sugar, and this irritating smell that I just cannot place for the life of me. VERY strong and rich. Use SPARINGLY YES WELL DONE HOUSEMATE HELEN!!!!! She told me exactly what it was within seconds- the clever lass!!! It's smells EXACTLY like currant biscuits. Exactly. As it's been warming up on my skin it's got a tiny bit of ginger in it as well. And the currants are coming through more now as well. Oh my God this is lovely!!!! It's a real winter scent though, so it's a pain in the arse I got it in spring. I intend to wear this to my seminar tomorrow, to make EVERYONE hungry!! But I will again re-iterate how bloody strong it is. My bottle didnt have a reducer, so I applied it by dipping in a cotton bud and wiping the tiniest amount on my wrist. And I can smell it without bringing it to my nose. I'm VERY happy with this - I hope it doesnt change drastically into something horrible!! EDITED: oh dear....there is a strange "fag smell" coming through which is very prominant in perversion as well...it's only just peeking through, but it's changed the wonderful biscuit smell into a slightly burning currant one. I think the biscuit thing was the nutmeg, but Im not sure. I hate this cigarette tone, I'm hoping it will disappear. YET ANOTHER EDIT: I'm not sure when this appears, but I think it's after the warm buttery stage...I get a very very distinctive smell coming through which is of hot cooked apples. That sort of very very sweet scent. It smells a bit like apple pie mingled with something a bit richer, that might be what hot pumpkin smells like I guess!!

I bought this along with a couple of other things from a wonderful forumite In the bottle, I couldnt actually smell much at all!! I'll sniff it again later, but it was very very faint. When I first put this on it smelt, almost immediatley, exactly like fabric softener. Not in a bad way, a nice fabric softener! I could imagine using this to spray my sheets with, as it's very clean smelling. I imagine that wold be the linen note, ay? Unfortunately I got this on my hand just before eating, so I have this horrible linen taste in my mouth as well, lol. Not even marmite got rid of it!! On my skin, it seems to be clinging onto this linen note, but there is something sweeter coming through as well, which makes the scent seem a bit more rounded, it's probably the vanilla. I'm not getting anything "candy" ish from this though, which I think is a bit disappointing, from what I saw of the other reviews. It's a very delicate smell on me, and I imagine I have to slather this one on a bit, and probably reapply. The sweeter note is becoming a bit stronger though, which is nice! Unless the sweet note gets slightly more prominant I dont know how keen id be to wear this out, since it is very.....lineny, but I would DEFINATLY have a spray for my sheets, it woudl be a wonderful clean smell for summer. I get the faded perfume on a hankerchief comparison - but on me, it would have to be REALLY faded perfumes, on a very clean and crisp hankerchief!! This review sounds quite negative, but I do like this scent quite a bit. In fact, te vanilla is just peeknig through now. A DEFINATE for summer! Im glad I already have a bottle on the way!!

This is making my chest feel a bit tight, but Im determined to give it a proper review - for about a week Ive been just sniffing it in the bottle going "Hmmm!!!!" then putting it away. I made my housemate and PAL guinea pig mark wear it last week, and it smelt GOOD. HOWEVER. I would say that a VERY TINY bit of this goes a LONG way. I..er..used a bit too much on mark, and he positively left a TRAIL of gingerbread fumes wherever he went in the house. I'm not kidding! I could retrace all of his footsteps!! He said that he liked it but that it was a bit overpowering. In the bottle, this smells EXACTLY like the ginger biscuits I used to at as a child. On my skin I get a lemon note coming through as well...so it's like a spicy lemony ginger - it's VERY nice! I've not worn it long enough to say how it fades, but I'l update later!

In the bottle I can smell - unsuprisingly - lillies. and just a tiny tang of honey to keep it from being overly sweet. I didnt like it in the bottle at first, but now I do. When I put it on, the lilies jump out, and become very very salty on me as well. I'm not sure why!! It's still a very nice scent though. After a while, the salty edge disappears and a tiny tiny bit of honey comes through, which warms the whole scent up slightly. It does become significently weakr after a few hours though, which I found a bit disappointing. When it's on fresh though, a tiny bit goes A LONG way!! I would love to smell like this on a warm summer evening, as it's so..refreshing, and sparkling. I wouldn't say it's gender neutral though, on me it's an extrememly feminine scent, so boys be wary! I'm so SO happy with this one, as I had resigned myself to the fact that NO florals were going to work on me EVER, and were all going to smell of Jasmine, (which I dont like at all) or lavender. I'm seriously considering a 10ml of this in my next order... In fact, smelling this makes me think of sitting in a class room in high summer with the window open. It's a very specific classroom at my old school as well! lol! WELL RECOMMENDED! I just thought I would edit this to add another sentence about how wonderful this scent is. HMMM YUMMY. Pure spring in a vial.

In the vial I can smell....a very slight hint of peach, and ALOT of incense. On my skin it started to become slightly more wood based, but the incense was still shining through very strongly. Ooo, I had to wash this off!! I suddenly started coughing alot, and my chest felt quite tight. It might not have had anything to do with it, but I do feel a bit better now its off. How strange!!

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
purely_cosmetic replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
Well I'm sure when the staff see this thread, they will perhaps be more inclined to respond to your e-mails - there may have been plenty of reasons why they didn't in the past. Maybe just ask them to e-mail you a list of all the blends that contain any trace of the things you're allergic to. That way you know which ones to avoid. -
The perfect scent to wear to your next bondage ball, dungeon adventure or sojourn to your favorite pleasure dome. Smoky rum and black tobacco with a whisper of steamy leather with a splash of crystalline chardonnay, layered over a sensual, sweet, and deceptively magnetic base of tonka. Not a winner on me. In the bottle this smelt like what I can only describe as "dirty coconut" On my skin, the coconut came out alot, and was the dominant smell for a while. I didnt get any hint of "tonka bean" - which Im assuming is vanillaish. As it dried, it suddenly became very very smokey, with only a hint of cocnut, and a slight booze tint in the background. The best comparison I can think of, is of a pub at the end of a pina colada night. Mostly smokey, with a bit of coconut ad alcohol in the background.

Named after the primordial ocean of milk where Lord Vishnu reclines upon the thousand-headed Naga. Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia. Erm did I get the wrong imp?!!? This scent on me was so so so faint that when I tried it on earlier I assumed that the stick had somehow missed the oils. I just re-applied on clean skin and literally had to SOAK my wrist in it to get a clear smell, and even then it was faint!!! On my wrist all I can smell is lemon and lime. I think mainly the lemon, but it has something slightly less....sharp grounding it. It has now officially DISAPPEARED into my skin!!! Ive got my nose against my wrist and I still cant smell it. Maybe the faintest of all faint notes of lemon and a tiiiny bit of ginger. It smells very similar to neo tokyo, but not identical. I really really wanted to LOVE this from the description, milk! honey! yummy creamy goodness!! But unfortunatly it just a disappearing act on me. Ill keep the imp, and use it for a summer scent as it just smells "fresh" on me, unfortunatly, there just is no "scent"

Hmm..interesting. This, to me, doesnt smell berryish at all. I think my skin may amplify floral tones, because anything Ive tried on which is a bit floral seems to end up smelling exactly the same on me!!! This smelt slightly more.... potent in the vial, and Im glad that it dried down to somethng more powdery, as it was a bit too much at first. I dnot know if this is even in here, but I can smell honeysuckle mixed with other flowers.....lily maybe, but with something heavier beneath it. (Another floral though) I dont mean this in a negative way, but for some reason this reminds me of my grandmother. I think it is a combination of lots of florals that were a popular mixwhen she was younger. That's how Id describe this, an old fashioned floral, but that's not to say that tat in itself is a bad smell. As I said however, most of the floralish imps Ive tried so far have ended up smelling practically identical, so it may well be that my skin amplifies a floral tone.

To me, this smels very similar - if notthe same - in the vial as it does on the skin - which is the first bpal to do so for me. It smells of diluted fruits, and yes, blossom is a prominant scent on me. It might be the bamboo I can smell, as there is something grounding this to prevent it from being too....vague if that makes any sense. In fact, this smell reminds me strongly, neigh, is virtually the same as a perfume I used to have hen I was very very young which I think was by Nina ricci. Does anyone know what Im talking about? It came in a green twirly bottle. It's a very fresh, light smell. However, the lightness is deceptive. Just because its not overly heavy doesnt mean it's any less invasive!! The other two smells I was testing on my arm smelled like this after ten minutes!!! lol!! Nice...I dont know about getting a bottle but Ill keep the imp. I think my problem is that it reminds me of being 12 and wearing the nina ricci!! If any-one's interested Ive tracked down the exact perfume it reminds me of Floral, Fruity, Green. Designed by Nina Ricci in 1996, Les Belles De Ricci is a refreshing, floral fragrance. It is the result of the following top fragrance Notes: bergamot, citrus and peach. The middle notes are: lemon, honey and orange blossom and the base of the fragrance is: vetiver, oakmoss and sandalwood. Les Belles is recommended for daytime use.

I got this as a freebie in a swap In the vial it smells very much like cherry diluted with something green....I cant place it, but its quite a leafy cherry smell. It also has an edge to it which is quite grating....something that can be found in really old fashioned perfumes.....INTRIGUING! I am currently too smothered in Golden Priapus, (HMM!) to test this on myself, and I take pity on my work colleagues Ill be joining shortly! But I roped in my housemate and smothered her wrists in the stuff! hehe! At first the cherry is the prominant note, as well asthe leafy undertone....soon that intrigunig grandma smells begins to disappear, and I think the strawberry begins to develop....Helen say sit smells like black cherry to her, and I can detect tht as well, although my nose is confused as to whether thats what Im smelling or if its mixd with the strawberry. I think it's the vanilla coming through actually, as it begins to have a warmth to it that I love. (AndI love vanila, lol) I'VE GOT IT!!! To all you UK'ers out there, this, to me sells almost EXACTLY like baby calpol. To all you USers out there that is a very VERY big compliment!!! In fact, I liked it so much that as a child I drank a whole bottle and had to go to hospital, lol! well done Harri! lol! I would have never NEVER got this on my own accord, even though, looking through the notes, they all seem to be notes that I like. I like this on Helen alot!! Hopefully when I get back from work Ill give this a try and it will work just as well on me!

ALMONDS!!!! Almonds covered in marzipan. Almonds, with a bit of almond sauce on top. With a side serving of marzipan, and the almond martini. (with marzipan icecubes) I you like the smell of almonds, then BUY A HUGE HUGE BOTTLE OF THIS. Ditto for if you like marzipan. I've tried this out on my housemates as well, and it actually mellows down on them as it dries, and the almost overpowering almond did fade down to something a bit more musky, and less sickly. Saying that, one of them adores it in its marzipan/almond stage. On me it then dries down to something which, for no reason at all, I think smells of hospitals or doctors surgeries. I dont know what it is though. There is no reason why I shouldn't love this smell, as it seems to be quite closely linked with snow white, which I love... Although saying that there is a background scent in the snow white that I dont like so much, and on reflection, that may well be almond. If I just read the description of this I would have bought a huge bottle, but Im glad Laura gave me her spare imp first, as I obviously just dont get on with it very well at all!! I can see why other people would become big fans of it though!

I could not disagree more with the above comment!!!! So far, this has been the most radical scent change on me yet. In the bottle I can smell two things: mint, (?) and the incense, (which I loathe!!) I put it on, and smelt of someone who has had the flu for a week, and has been bathing in olbas oil, whilst sucking on XXX strong breathe mints, WHILST cleaning their teeth. Eucalyptus!! Mint!!! TCP!!! The only reason I didnt wash it off was because on Laura, it smelt of candy floss and magic and sweetness. After 15 mins it began to smell of the same unhealthily mint and olbas oil obsessed person.....who was now eating candyfloss.... Gradually - Very gradually - the balance between candy floss and mint changed, until about 40 minutes after application, it smelt like heaven. Despite the enormous length of time it took for this to change on me, I think a 5-10 ml might very well be in order. I loved it.

The Lowdown on Incense & Resin - The Best Recommendations
purely_cosmetic replied to Ms. MSGirl's topic in Recommendations
This is too similar for a new thread I think, but does anyone have suggestions for NON incensey ones? I can't STAND the smell of incense...even a tiny bit can completley ruin a scent for me -
Jolly Roger smells like salt on me, so to me, it smells just like the beach, hmmmmm

I've had an imp of this for a while, from someone who was kind enough to decant me some from her 5ml. Every time I have worn this Ive had a completley different experiance, which i find very odd! I remember trying it a few weeks ago, and being new to bpal perhaps put just a tiny bit too much on, although even then it was just a couple of wipes from the stick thing. (technical term, lol) Throughout the day the scent got stronger and stronger, and although it was a beautiful scent - very creamy, vanilla, mixed with coconut, ice cream and a very light nutty smell, light vry very faint almonds - it got the point where it was so strong it was making me feel nauseous. About a fortnight later I decided to try again, but this time, within seconds of putting it on my hand, it started to itch, and generally made my skin feel very uncomfortable. Disappointed, I quickly washed it off, because the itching was driving me crazy!! Skip forwards a couple of weeks to today. Because Im on the search for a 5ml bottle of snow white for a birthday present for a friend, I thought Id try the snow white again, as i was in the mood for a creamy scent. In the bottle it smelt dreamy, and Im not often a fan of BPAL in the bottle, normally I have to wait for it to dry before Ilike it. Lying on bed, sniffing my wrists, (recovering from a late night!) it was lovely, and then all of a sudden a very strange smell of "burnt" began to creep in....BUT ONLY ON MY LEFT WRIST. I must have the craziest body in the world. so although my left wrist still has the creamy smell, there is an undeniable taint of what smells like burnt plastic. The right wrist smells creamy, but faded. So there you go, a crazy rollercoaster of snow white experiance! Im going to leave it on for another hour, and see if it begins to get much stronger as it did the first time I wore it. I find it very strange that the exact same vial of oil can have such different reaction on the same person!

I was lucky enough to be able to test this - before ordering- courtesy of Laura..... I have to admit, I really disliked this when I smelt it in the imp. To me it smelt like cheap old man's aftershave. I think that might have been because the leather seemed to be the most predominant scent in the bottle. HOWEVER, When I put it on, and flapped my arms around to dry it, it smelt *wonderful* This comes out very salty on me, with maybe a tiny bit of pine. But to me, it smelt like the sea. I can see why people might compare it to air freshner, because it does have that "fresh" smell to it, but I'm not complaining! I'm not a fan of the more 'incensey' smells, so this one for me was wonderful. The thing which suprised me the most was how much the smell CHANGED when it had dried on my skin. Im a BPAL virgin, (first order soon to be made!) so the difference between love on me, hate in the bottle really really shocked me! I'm ordering myself an imp, and my good friend, (nicknamed 'pirateben!') a whole bottle!! If he doesnt like it, Ill gladly take it off his hands!
