The outside of my Imps I think is mostly a combination of Haunted (some of it spilt), Spellbound, Hollywood Babylon and Lust.

At first this is very sweet and round with just a touch of earthiness. Definitely some dirt in there, and the sweetness...it's like a wet licked lollipop dropped in the dirt. And it doesn't smell as unattractive as that sounds. After a while though, the myrrh emerges giving it a beautiful smoky edge. And then the amber begins to bring a touch of spice and powder with the sandalwood softly rounding it out. I keep getting images of women dressed in colourful silks dashing through shadows down dimly fire-lit corridors. A very evocative scent indeed.

Oils to relax, calm, soothe, restore your sanity...

I'm interested in scents like this too and I've read that sandalwood and frankincense are very good for sensitivity, and it's funny, but I wore a mixture of these two oils to bed last night and it was very soothing. I can't say for sure, as I haven't tried it yet, but Anne Bonny is patchouli, sandalwood and frankincense...maybe you could try that one? I've got this one coming in my next order...can't wait to try it. Also meant to be good for gaining confidence is amber, frankincense, myrrh and violet...the only one I can see close to this is Faustus which is frankincense, cinnamon and violet. Hmmm, and it says "An infusion of incalculable power and irresistible temptation. Truly an exercise in megalomania and self-gratification" So maybe if you got just a little power-feeling from it, it might be a good thing! Maybe you could add the myrrh and amber if you have single notes. -
Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

I would love this too!! I haven't smelt O yet, but I was thinking of that one too. HIWTK though, has some gardenia in it I think and caramel/toffee to my nose. I wonder what would happen if you mixed a big helping of O to a touch of Gluttony (since it's got caramel and toffee in it) and a tiny touch of the single note Gardenia? I think I'll add these to my next order and find out!!! Edited because oop, Gluttony has chocolate and nuts in it, not sure if it really is extracts of these? -
Thank you for the update!! Very good news...things are on the up and up!!!

The apricot is almost candy sweet first on, but a few minutes later, earthy patchouli sidles right on in and almost, but not quite, takes over. It’s not a dirty patchouli to me though, it’s a kind of fresh earthy patchouli, if that makes sense, almost soft, with the apricot poking out around the sides. Actually, what it really reminds me of, is ripe apricots, who’ve burst their skins, fallen into freshly turned soil. An unusual and lovely combination! It’s not one I’d wear a lot as I don’t find myself often in the mood for it, but when I do, I like wearing it with green!

Sweet, sexy and fruity! First on it’s a juicy fruity fizzy berry blackcurrant lolly. My SO thought could smell some orange in there too. For me, I mostly smell tart blackcurrant, the round sweetness of soft plum and there is a hint of creamy amaretto. It reminds me a bit of blackberry sage tea, but without the sage. It's definitely a touch fizzy too. It remains sweet on my skin the whole time, right through to drydown and gently fades away after a few hours. I can’t really smell the red wine in it, unless it’s the sweetest red wine I’ve ever smelt. Not a fave, but lovely all the same.

Hi Nella! Thanks for letting us know! I was a bit curious as to the best way to get in touch with you guys. I sent an email on Monday to Brian (as he was my contact last time for an International order), but I'm not sure if he got it, so I just resent it to you, I hope that's ok! Thanks! Hello! No, I didn't have to sign for mine. Sometimes I do if I have to go to the PO to pick it up, but if it's small enough to fit in my mail box at home they just pop it in there.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love
ViolentKitten replied to any_old_actress's topic in Recommendations
Haunted comes to my mind when I think of Autumn (which it is here now). Makes me think of walking down a tree covered path, leafs blowing around my feet in the cold breeze. -
Lusciously plump sweet cherries and marzipan, swirled into creamy smooth condensed milk with incensy dragon’s blood. On my skin, it becomes soft, sweet, sexy cozy.

Persephone is burstingly bright when she first goes on, slowly becoming soft, sweet and warm. A deep red rose covered in dewdrops, being warmed by the sun is most predominant to me, with a little musk and the pomegranate’s succulent, ripe sweetness poking through. I was just about going mad trying to think what else it smells like, and then I read amazonqueen’s review: Turkish Delight! Yes, definitely, but more rosy. And it also reminds me of Spellbound a little, but I prefer Spellbound, it’s my favourite BPAL rose blend so far.

hey Nella! Great to meet you!!

Le Serpent Qui Danse is a lovely, elegant scent, and although I definitely like it, it hasn’t captured me as much as I’d hoped. I adore both gardenia and violet, but they don’t merge together as well on me as I thought they would. It’s all a bit too much at first, strong and very sweet, but it does soften to slightly powdery and dusty – in a good way - with all the notes playing an equal part. This is when I like it the most, but not quite enough to have more.

HUGS Beth! I hope you get some time soon to rejuvinate yourself. Just know in the meantime that you are amazing and do amazing things! I get SO much joy out of my Imps! They sit by my computer so I can pick them up and sniff whenever the desire takes me and the melange of their scent drifts up to my nose all the time...I love it! I'm planning another order...fortunately I won't add to your current orders for a while though, I have to pay of my credit card first!

First on, the amber packs a powerful punch for a while, and I rather like it like that with just a hint of the black musk. But soon the black musk makes its presence more known and they make a powdery soft and sweet melancholy song. It is a lovely scent, but when it dries down, it doesn't really do anything amazing on my skin.

I never thought myself a rose girl, but this mesmerises me. The roses, amber and musk blend together so perfectly. I can mostly smell the roses and musk, but there is a hint of amber in there. So elegant. It also though, reminds me of walking into a ‘Tree of Life’ shop and smelling a combination of all the wonderful incense and oils in there, and though you’ve had enough browsing you want stay so you can keep inhaling that blissful smell.

Salaciously sultry, Lust makes me want to purr. At first, it’s almost candy sweet, barely earthed by the patchouli and myrrh. But slowly, they come out, gently taking away the candy, and the ylang ylang comes out too, adding a whisper of lusciousness to the sexy red musk. Oh, how I adore red musk. That is the most prominent note to my nose, and the other notes complement it beautifully. I’d prefer the heart-racing potency of Lust to last a little longer, but it quickly softens on me, becoming very intimate. I guess that’s not really a complaint though, especially since it also had the desired effect on my man!

I didn’t realise I had a thing for peach, but I seem to have ordered a few from BPAL which have some sort of peach in them. The others are Fae and Imp, and I love all three – each different in their own ways. Tamora is soft and sensual and I find that my hand is often pressed against my nose as I breathe it in, which probably isn’t all that sensual to see! It has a more floral aspect with the peach blossom but not obviously floral and the vanilla bean gives it a wonderful warmth and the amber a slight spiciness. The final dry down maintains all those aspects but it also becomes slightly powdery and musky. Yum. Another beautiful blend, my only wish that it lasted a tad longer on me.

Delicious. I love how the patchouli adds a dash of earthiness to the sweet peach, amber and musk. Actually, it’s quite similar to Fae, but where Fae is right out there playing in the sunshine, Imp is frolicking in the forest with a basket of sun-warmed peaches, the sunlight dappling through the trees. Sadly for me though, that earthy patchouli disappears too soon and overall it’s not very long lasting on my skin. Oh well, it’s gorgeous while it lasts, and distracts my man in a nice way too!

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here
ViolentKitten replied to ipb's topic in Recommendations
Everyone is different, but.... I've got Imp on today and my man took some very deep breaths of it and said, "Make sure you wear that tonight." Hmmm! He likes Snake Oil too. And yesterday I had Debauchery on, and although I'm not sure if others would be attracted to it (as I didn't wear it out) it made me feel rather wicked. So I think I'd be very likely approach the object of my desire before they got a chance to get to me! -
Truly heavenly. On my skin, initially the white musk and peach shine brightly. Slowly it becomes a soft white light, though never fading, with the heliotrope drifting out to meld with the musk and peach, resting upon a soft bed of oakmoss, touched ever so lightly by bergamot. Stunningly beautiful!

A litte bit dirty this one...in a good way. I don't think I've ever smelt Civet, but I'm pretty sure I can pick it out in this! Very animalistic with a slight sweetness from the musk I think, which saves it from being too carnal. The drydown is a touch dry with that ample musk and opium swimming through. So true that this is a self-indulgent scent, as it makes me want to be naughty rather than me wanting it to make someone else be naughty with me! To make it less overt, if I want to soften that wicked edge slightly, I sometimes wear it with Dragonfly Blue Nile Musk - I haven't any of the single note BPAL musks, but BPAL White Musk might do a similar thing.
-
When I first put this on, it’s divine! The rose and patchouli seem most prominent with the sandalwood softly in the background. But it morphs rapidly on me into an antique wood cupboard filled with lingerie of the same age as the cupboard. By the time the dry down comes it’s nice but too dusty on me. Damn my chemistry (!) but sometimes I do start out thinking a scent doesn’t suit me and later, I fall in love - I so did want to like this one, so I’m hoping so! Fortunately though, in the meantime, there are many other BPAL's I adore!

Wonderfully warm, soft, and comforting. The Dana O’Shee would definitely be mollified by this! Smells just like dry oats with honey and almonds. I feel like I’m floating above wheat fields in the gentle sunshine. If you’re familiar with Serge Luten’s Rahat Loukoum, this is quite similar…but without the cherry note.
