    Sed Non Satiata

Decant: myrrh and tuberose Wet on Me: myrrh, tuberose, whiffs of patchouli and the musk running a current underneath it all. Drying Down: some sweetness over top..must be the honey and some hints of the geranium coming forward to dance. Dry: faint breaths of cognac dance thru the honey and musk and patchouli. The tuberose and geranium took their bows and receded and the myrrh just skips quietly in the background. Such a lovely scent. I’m glad I got a decant of this.

    Tanuki

Bottle: Oh wow! This knocked me on mah tukus. Gorgeous. Hedonistic is right! Wet on Me: Now I get the wisteria, bamboo reed and magnolia with faint whispers of the black pine Drying Down: I’m sooo loving this. It’s drying down sooo nicely. Still wisteria in the front but followed by the bamboo, pine, and magnolia. All playing nicely together. Dry: gets very faint but still there. It has become a lovely gentle blend, but this totally gets inside my head and I can’t stop sniffing my wrist. My nose wants to make love to my wrist, this smells so goooood! The LOVE! I love that I was able to get a bottle of this.

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

Bottle: oooooo dark, earthy, dark fruity and a dash of sweet from the vanilla Wet On Me: more patchouli and musk now Drying Down: Still Fabulous. Musk over patchouli but the sweetness of the vanilla is darkened and tempered by the fruit. Dry: Oh man this is awesome. I’m not normally a vanilla fan but this is just awesome. It’s dark. The vanilla is tempered from being too sweet by the musk and patchouli and the fruits. This is just what I expect a Misfortune teller to wear. SOOOO glad I got at least one bottle of this. Might need more!

    Dorian

Bottle: musk and tea Wet On me: now I get the vanilla and the sweetness of the sugar with the tang of tea all over the musk Drying Down: mostly vanilla sugar over musk now. Kinda sweet. Dry: very vanilla sugar over musk. This is nice and might be good for when I want to wear something sweet but not smell like food.

    Moon of the Terrible

Decant: lavender and aquatic ozone? must be the benzoin. Wet on Me: Lavender tamed by the snow and herbs. Light but not whispy Drying Down: less lavender. More aquatic and lychee now. The lunar florals make a ghostly base. Dry: mostly the lychee and florals now. It’s not bad. I’m glad I got a decant to try. Wish the lavender had stuck around more.

    Earth Phoenix

Decant: Soil and cypress almost astringent like Wet on Me: very much soil first then musk, tobacco and hints of jasmine and cypress now. Drying Down: still soil first. Altho I like gardening not sure I want soil to be the first note that grabs me in a scent. Mostly the soil over a faint musk now. Dry: mostly soil over musk. The soil note is soooooo sharp it overpowers everything else on me. I was hoping to love this a lot more…I thought it might resonate with the Earth Mother in me. Alas no. But I have the decant and it’s all good.

    Wood Phoenix

Decant: Wood and something…not sure if I’m picking up the clove or not Wet on me: WOAH Clover over wood. Smells like Autumn Harvest from YC. Lots of wood, Walnut, Fig and clove..oof! Drying Down: mostly clove and fig and walnut with faint traces of woods underneath it all if I sniff deeply. Dry: the clove simmers down a tad…still getting fig, and some walnut but no more woods. Glad I got the decant, probably will not seek out a bottle.

    Fire Phoenix

Enterprise, adventure, restlessness, impulsiveness, and dynamism: Chinese musk and red musk with hyacinth, cactus flower, cubeb berry, galangal, tobacco, pink pepper, and sarsaparilla. Decant: deep and warm…and fiery Wet on Me: Very much the musks, and the hyacinth and sasparilla and pepper Drying Down: deep musks. Very warm, still getting sasparilla out of this, but the pepper has gotten all shy on me. And it looks like the hyacinth is doing that as well. Dry: Warm red musk. This reminds me of another BPAL but I can’t put my nose on it. But I do love it!

    Water Phoenix

Decant: an aquatic lavender in the vial. So far I’m loving this! Wet on Me: more aquatic lavender with a splash of the juniper thrown in for good measure. Drying Down: this is something quite lovely. The lavender has receded like a gentle tide. The lily of the valley comes forth now and the gentle sweet pea. Dry: Another gentle blend. All traces and whisps of notes that ebb and flow under my nose like the tides. First you get lavender and it recedes to bring the sweet pea and then it recedes to bring the lily of the valley and so on and so on all over a lovely gentle base of the musk and rain. I never really got a lot of the frankincense but hey what I do get is stunning. The love! One of my faves from the Anniversary blends.

    Metal Phoenix

Decant: White honeysuckle and the verbena and the ghosts of white metal Wet on Me: Carnation honeysuckle and the rose mallow Drying Down: The musk comes quietly forward to play. The floral has throttled back just a bit and it’s blending nicely with ghosts of white metal Dry: gentle, quiet. All blending nicely together on my wrist. Not overpowering or overwhelming. This is something I will wear on an elegant evening. So glad I got this.

I Fell in Love with a Floating Brain

Imp: OMG Strawberry frosting and cake way too sweet Wet on Me: more cake. I smell like a bakery. Too much sugar Drying Down: Strawberry frosting. No carnation no grapefruit. Dry: okay I tried this. It does confirm why I’m not so much for the foody type scents. In the past few years when I smell too much ‘sugar’ it tends to make me queasy. So we don’t bake a lot of sweets in our home or I don’t hang out in bakeries. The upside is the loss of sweet tooth is good for diet. Bad side…a girlie with out her sweets? I’m sure this is awesome for the foody types out there.

    Spawn of the She-Demon

Imp: Dark and Thick, heady musk Wet on Me: Musk and tea. Dark, lush, heady Drying Down: Not getting the Mango yet which is okay by me. Just tea and musk. Dry: What a lovely sexy tea party. Just the musks and the tea. Oh my Oh me! I’m thrilled I got to try this!

    Zephyr

Imp: lots of white. White Musk and light white floral Wet on Me: light and lovely and oooooooo yummy so far. I get the musk and the neroli and the sandalwood. Drying Down: the sandalwood really starts to shine now. Less of the Neroli now but the sandalwood is good. Dry: almost a spicy to the sandalwood scent. No citrus now… no neroli…no florals. Just a light spicy sandalwood. Very nice.

    Lunar Eclipse

Bottle: musk, incense and lavender. So pretty. Wet on Me: The vetiver is trying to peep thru all the musk, incense and lavender. It is threatening to ruin this for me. Drying Down: YAY the vetiver took a hike! It’s musky incense again with the lavender and wee taunts of the black currant. Dry: This is lovely. It was an unknown and I took a chance. So glad I got a bottle of this.

    Blood Moon 2008

The feral scent of the heat of the chase, deep woods, undulating musks, brushed by forest flora, swirled in the incense of the anointed cherub that covereth, and touched by blood-dimmed lunar oils. Bottle: Musks! Wet on Me: musks that remind me of being in the woods at night. Light floral whispers dancing around. Drying Down: I smell woods now….coming up to match the stride of the musks. What little floral I could detect at first has faded now. Dry: musky woods, woody musks. This is a walk in the woods on a cool autumn’s evening with a man who smells just way too good. Not that I get a masculine vibe off this, but I feel this scent would just rock on a man.

    Champagne, Chocolate, and Cheap Sex

Bottle: Total Champagne Wet on Me: Champagne and sweet…I think the Chocolate is coming out to play Drying Down: more chocolate and the champagne seems to be receding so it is not as dominating and I’m thinking I’m getting this cheap sex or morning after cheap sex vibe. Dry: This is the morning after a New Years Party where you drank way too much champagne, and it spilled on you as you were hugging and kissing at midnight…and then as the night’s revelry carried on, somehow chocolate was consumed and then you wake up in a champagne fog remembering bits and pieces of some really hot fast good sex you got while no one was looking. And you are smiling cause HE was hot and the sex was GOOD. No walk of shame on this one!

    Aureus

Imp: wow. Dark and heavy…smells like dusty and a tad sharp and off. Old Wet on Me: very old. Old sunshine thru an attic. Musty still. Drying Down: I’m catching a warm cedar in this. Like an old cedar chest in an attic. Dry: This is a sunny early autumn day spent in an attic by the window, going thru a cedar chest of treasures. The love!

    Kubla Khan

Imp: Jasmine, hay, ginger and sandalwood Wet on Me: more jasmine now over anything. But the ginger is giving it some spice kick Drying Down: baby powder now. Baby powder over the sandalwood the jasmine bailed out the ginger seems tobe playing hide and seek Dry: a wee bit of jasmine came back and mixed with the amber to give me jasmine baby powder. This is nice, but I had hoped it would smell more exotic on me.

    The Jersey Devil

Imp: Pine. Very pine. But not pine sol pine Wet on Me: pine and…….something I can’t put my sniffer on. Drying Down: the pine is being sweetened by the cranberry. Piney and cranberry…feels like a holiday in a log cabin. Dry: mostly cranberry now…the pine is receding, but the cedar decided to come out and play a lil bit. This is not bad. Glad I tried it.

    Mad Hatter

Imp: Lavender…but I get mint? Wet on Me: Lavender, musk, mint! I get mint out of this. Drying Down: still that wee trace of mint, the musk has backed off a bit the lavender is there. I kinda sorta get the masculine vibe…but not a straight up masculine one. Dry: sweet…like a sweet mint …the lavender is over the mint over the sweet musk. Very nice. I could go “mad” for this one.

    Ghûlheim

Decant: dark…dark musky pepper Wet On Me: sweet musky pepper Drying Down: Smoke and Musky pepper Dry: The smokey is gone. It’s a nice darker musk with trace pepper undertones. Not too bad.

    The Owens' Tomb

Decant: Green and daffodils! Spring! Wet on Me: Totally green and daffodils. Spring tra la in the middle of winter yet! Drying Down: still green…still daffodils…but now add aquatic to it. Why does this remind me of Embalming Fluid, which I love btw. Dry: wow…am getting a cedar scent now. Cedar and green and less daffodil. Very nice.

    Miss Lupescu

Decant: spicy. But spicy leaning on the sweetish side Wet on Me: oh man..that almond blossom. That overly sweetish cherry scent of almond. Over patchouli Drying Down: oh thank the gods the almond is receeding quickly. Leaving a scent that is a blend of musk and patchouli with hints of the sandalwood. Dry: well the Amber showed up and I amped it to baby powder. Oh well.

    The Lady On The Grey

Decant: definitely a pale petals is what I’m getting at first inhale Wet on me: more pale petals but I get the sandalwood underneath now. Drying Down: now mostly the sandalwood over the pale petals. Dry: Pleasant…mostly sandalwood at the end. Not bad. I likey.
