MURDER OF CROWS In Bottle: Soft violet and resin On Skin: Um, yum?!?!?!!!!!!!!!! Wow, this is absolutely beautiful. I get a soft violet/grey tone from this. Velvet and delicate. Verbena is usually amped on me, but here it is in the background thankfully. I get violet, which isn’t even listed as a note. I smell the gorgeous grey amber. The herbs are also very light and back notes. The benzoin is resinous and sweet but very light as well. Actually this is probably the lightest BPAL scent I have ever smelled. It blooms and is gorgeous for 10 minutes then vanishes without nearly a trace. Wow, that almost makes me cry. It is seriously GONE. Poof! Such a gorgeous scent, that leaves me crushed as it leaves me so quickly. So I’d say I love it, I’m just so sad it has no staying power at all. Very very VERY light throw.

OCTOBER In Bottle: Sap and leaves On Skin: This again is an outdoors scent, but whereas Death of Autumn was dry and bitter, this scent is more vibrant and sweet. The leaves have freshly fallen and are still pliable, not brittle. The smell of sap lingers and in the background someone lights up their fireplace for the first time this season. A beginning of Autumn scent and quite pretty. I actually love this scent and wouldn’t mind having a bottle to wear as well as use as a room scent. I ordered decants of the Fall scents to try before getting bottles, well the 2 scents I was going to get bottles of without even sniffing, were the 2 that ended up being my favorites from the decants… Perilous Parlor and October. I guess I should trust myself. It’s a unisex scent, should smell great on anyone. Very light throw and short wearlength.

THE DEATH OF AUTUMN In Bottle: Dry and powdery On Skin: This is a dry, powdery scent that is quite bitter to me. I don’t like the smell of dried out leaves and that’s pretty much what this is on me. I like the amber in the background, but the spiciness and dryness just don’t suit me. Quite light and very much fitting the description. This scent is melancholy and dark. The khus is feral, adding to the outdoorsy feel of it. I get leaves mashed into the ground, dry and cold. The spiciness and resin keep it from being a strictly outdoorsy scent. Interesting, but not really me. Moderate throw and short to average wearlength on me.

HADES In Bottle: Planty and resinous On Skin: The opoponax is dark and sticky and it reminds me of Schwarzer Mond at first. But it is even more earthy and not as sweet. It also has a nice floral in the background as the narcissus makes itself known. To me this is a much lighter version of Schwarzer Mond, kind of Schwarzer Mond Light if you will. It also fades super quick and doesn’t have the dark depth of Schwarzer Mond. I also notice a bit of spice to it. As it fades the resins drop to the back and the floral element becomes stronger, it’s very pretty! I love it! The resins and florals work so well together, I just wish it was stronger. This is a perfume I will wear a lot. It starts with a medium to heavy throw, but fades quite quickly and has a short wearlength.

ILE DE LA TORTUE In Bottle: Stone and flowers On Skin: Wow! This is an original scent. So many levels! I smell the orchids right away, one of the only florals that love my skin… followed by the air and limestone. I get an ozone feel from those notes. As the scent develops I smell fruit and a tropical edge. It starts sweet, but the ozone notes and green notes freshen it and keep it grounded. Quite pretty and exotic. It takes me away to the tropics and the heat… the high I get just from being somewhere so beautiful and lush. This is a vaction scent. Not one I’d wear every day, but when I want a quick escape to the tropics, this is a great scent to have nearby. Light to medium throw and average wearlength.

PLUNDER In Bottle: Spicy overload On Skin: I smell the clove, cinnamon and cassia above all the other notes. Very very spicy, sweet and stinging. The tobacco darkens the scent and gives it a smoky edge. It’s much darker and brooding compared to Three Witches, the other spiciest scent I know. It’s interesting that this scent is pure spices, but doesn’t feel foody. It is so spicy my eyes start to tear up and my nose heats up just from smelling it. The note that carries the longest and stays the most obvious is the cinnamon bark. I am not a spice fan, so this isn’t a scent for me, and I think it’s a little overwhelming to use as a room scent. Maybe diluted into a room spray, for around the holidays it would go over well. Super strong throw and very long wearlength.

WINDWARD PASSAGE In Bottle: Soapy ozone On Skin: This scent is the definition of a “clean” scent. It has a crystal clear ozone note and strikes me as soapy. It is light blue/white in tone, like the ocean and it’s sea spray. If you like ozone and aquatic scents, this is a must have. Ozone scents always feel a bit more masculine to me and here it is the case for sure. I also get a light and slightly sweet lemon note, or some sort of citrus. It starts bold, and mellows out nicely. This is a great scent to wake you up. Being at my desk at work, this brought me out of the work-haze I was in. Very bright! Medium throw and long wearlength.
-
SPIKED PUNCH In Bottle: Super sweet boozy punch On Skin: Ok, there is no hiding the booze in this. Whiskey would be my guess… This scent smells like pure liquor on me. Whew! I don’t want to get fired at work… they’ll think I’m drinking at my desk! The fruit is sickly sweet, think Hawaiian Punch here. I can taste it, and see it’s pure sticky deep red color. I swear I have a drink in my hand. I tend to drink really girly fruity drinks at the club, and this would be one of those. I think I’m getting drunk just smelling it. A very fun and festive scent, and it gets me in the Halloween party spirit right away. Not one I’d wear often, but if I was feeling silly I’d go for this right away. Very strong throw and long wearlength.

EGG'D MAILBOX In Bottle: Cream and honey On Skin: Wow, this smells Like “O” on me. How crazy! It’s sweet and yummy, and purely creamy. It also really smells like honey for a bit. I want a gallon of this. I smell vanilla and sweet love. I don’t smell egg really… not an egg I’ve ever smelled at least. Maybe a light non-boozy version of egg nog, and no spices at all. Pure creaminess… It also has a very very soft, light and gentle floral in the background. Just enough to give it a bit more dimension. The bad part… it fades almost instantly. It starts strong and yummy, and within 10 minutes my skin has drank it all up and I can barely smell the trace that lingers. Super light throw and very, very short wearlength.

TP'D TREES In Bottle: Clean and sweet On Skin: This is so pretty! Yes, it is fresh and clean, and oddly smells a lot like a clean bathroom. But not an icky artificial cleanser bathroom, this is like sweet cotton and very white in tone. There is a slight woody smell, but not piney in any way shape or form. I get a soft skin musk, velvety in feel, also a bit powdery. This is gorgeous and I wouldn’t mind wearing this often, as crazy as that sounds. But it does feel like that just hopped out of the shower and feeling clean and refreshed. But very subtle and super soft… like plush white poofy towels. I would also love it as a room scent. It has a very light throw and short wearlength.

VAMPIRE TEARS In Bottle: Citrus floral On Skin: The grapefruit jumps out right away. Hello citrus! Very tart and very strong at first. The florals are second in line and decorate the grapefruit nicely. The ginger and tonka help sweeten the scent and give another dimension. I also smell some lemon. The neroil helps soften the sharpness of the fruits and gives a nice base. All in all, it’s a very bright scent, and yellow in tone. It doesn’t remind me of Vampires at all, but still it is pretty. I have quite a few citrus scents though so I may swap this one. But if you love grapefruit or lemon scents, give this one a try for sure. Light to medium throw, average wearlength.

SCORPIO 07 In Bottle: Dark sweet resin On Skin: Oh yes I love this. I have an obsession with dark resins… Schwarzer Mond, Mme Moriarty, Minotaur…. and this. So dark and sexy, seductive beyond any measure. It’s much lighter than Schwarzer Mond which was a thick sticky resin on me. Scorpio, is more thinned out and wearable for anyone. The resins float around me and warm me up instantly on this cold day. The basil and wormswood add to the earthyness. The Dragon’s Blood is sweet but very faint. I get a slight black liccorice feel from this, but nothing overwhelming. I love Scorpio! It’s an ace in my book for sure. I will be wearing this a lot without a doubt, and would love to smell it on my husband as well since it’s freaking sexy! Medium throw and long wearlength.

THE PHOENIX In Bottle: Dirt, wood and ozone On Skin: This is an ocean scent, full of ozone and aquatics. I was scared of it in the bottle, but on my skin it bursts into a scent I actually love and the dirt I smelled in the bottle vanishes. It is unisex, and quite refreshing. It starts out bright but then the Snake Oil comes it and gives it a gorgeous dark depth. The sea air is strongest, followed by the wood and then Snake Oil. The lime is in the background, giving the ozone a spike, and the blood seems like a nice warm resin. A beautiful scent that has really woken me up. About 15 minutes into wearing it the ozone amps even more giving it a soapy quality which to me makes it slightly more masculine. I want my husband to try this one out for sure. I’ll wear Pirate Moon and he can wear The Phoenix. Moderate throw and average to long wearlength.

SWAN MAIDEN In Bottle: White flowers On Skin: This is a floral scent for sure, very white and bright in feel. This is the most “white” scent I’ve ever smelled. I smell the creamy gardenia, and the iris and orchid for sure. The other florals blend quite well and form a perfumey wave. The sandalwood is also clean and softens the scent slightly. Still, it is quite sharp and extreme floral. While it’s pretty, it may be a bit much for me. I would like to tone it down a bit and wear it as a diffused spray maybe over a white musk. Fans of florals must try this without hesitation. It has a medium to strong throw at first but mellows out, and an average wearlength.

BEAVER MOON 07 In Bottle: Cheesecake with cherry sauce On Skin: This is like the original Beaver Moon only amped 1000 fold. I smell sweet yummy cake, could be cheesecake, with a massive amount of warm cherry sauce poured on top. I mean huge cherries and lots of gooey sauce. This is quite possibly the sweetest BPAL scent I have ever smelled. People with sensitive noses may be overwhelmed here. One tiny tab will do you as this is crazy STRONG! As the scent develops, the strawberry comes out too, emphasizing the berry sauce. I have seen the comparisons to cough syrup and I have to disagree completely. There is nothing icky or medicinal about this scent at all on me. It is pure sweet love. The berries are the strongest note, but the vanilla cake/cookie note is quite delicious, just more in the background. A hit for sure! Strong throw and long wearlength.
-
PIRATE MOON In Bottle: Clean dark musk On Skin: This is gorgeous, hands down. I smell the red musk right away which is a note that tends to love me. Here it does for sure, it amps and seduces me at first sniff. The leather is light and sexy, the woods are soft but deep, the tobacco offers a light smokey quality. The cocnut palm is more green than sweet but gives a nice contrast. The lime is very faint and just slices through quickly with the other resinous scents filling the short gap it left. This is a drop dead sexy night on a forbidden island after a day of plundering. I haven’t really fallen love with any of the lab’s pirate blends, usually they’re too aquatic or patchouli filled, whereas this one suits me perfectly. I LOVE it! Plus the fact that it goes along with Beth’s wedding makes me love it even more. What a beautiful association to keep with it. It has medium throw and a nice long wearlength.

PUMPKIN SMASH In Bottle: Pumpkin and spices On Skin: I smell pumpkin and nutmeg. More pie smelling than anything… but with a kind of funky background note that begins to sour. I think that’s the beer. The smoke is light but does darken the scent. This scent reminds me of the smell of the inside of a pumpkin, after the candle has burnt down to nothing. You can smell the pumpkin, the wax, the smoke and something slightly off… the pumpkin starting to spoil I guess. It’s not really a scent for me. Luckily the beer isn’t too overwhelming and it’s not a gross scent by any stretch, but it does seem more like a novelty. Light throw and average wearlength.

PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE In Bottle: Pumpkin and icing On Skin: This is delicious! So warm and inviting! This is a nice cozy kitchen after baking a tasty pumpkin cheesecake. I can smell the graham cracker crumbs, the brown sugar and the slightly zingy cream cheese!!! I can actually taste it and my mouth is watering. I’m not normally a pumpkin fan, but this really is quite seductive in a bakery sort of way. I love that is is just pure cakey goodness, no fruits or booziness… just simple foody love! The spices in it are soft and comforting, just like a cheesecake should be. I really love this scent and want to wear it for the whole month of October! Medium throw and average wearlength.
-
SUGAR-SLATHERED CANDIED APPLE In Bottle: Apple and caramel On Skin: This smells a lot like Creepy on me but a bit more tart. I loved Creepy, it’s the perfect October smell. But sadly, apples aren’t one of my favorite notes. It’s nice, just not me. I wear Creepy when I need a candy apple scent, so I don’t think I need a bottle of this as well. The caramel is sweet and sticky and warms the scent nicely. When the caramel comes out more, it reminds me of a warm compote, like a apple cobbler or something. Very warm, sweet and sticky with a bit of spice. This is a great Halloween scent and puts me in the perfect mood. I’d love to use it as a room scent though. Strong throw and long wearlength.

MARSHMALLOW POOF In Bottle: Marshmallow!!! On Skin: YUM! I am crying a little, this is sooooo good! One of the most perfect BPAL scents ever! It smells like ooey gooey marshmallow with a spike of coconut. Pure sugar, sweet and over the top! There is a little fruityness to it, almost strawberry, but very very light, enough to give it a little more substance than just grains of sugar. I get no Play-Dough, no plastic, nothing bad at all from this scent. It is confectionary perfection! It’s pretty light which is the only thing wrong with it… I wish it was stronger. I want to wear this every day, all the time. It totally cheers me up. A complete “hug scent”. I want gallons of this. I always wanted a BPAL marshmallow scent, now I have one. I hope Beth continues to experiment with marshmallow blends, they are so much fun! It has light throw and pretty short wearlength.

Very spicy, very warm and strongly scented. I love how it instantly puts me in a fall mood. I LOVE the exfoliants, always need those! And they're small enough to not scratch the skin. A beautiful soap and a beautiful mood. The apples and clove are very comforting, the pumkin and other spices are sweet and tasty... I want to snuggle with this scent!! In a warm shower it chases the cold autumn air away.

This is hands down the best massage oil ever. It is so freaky sexy. And the way it melts into the skin slowly is FABULOUS!!! It allows for a very nice long massage without vanishing into the skin right away like most oils do. My husband loves it and wants to buy a lifetime supply of it. The scent is very sexy as well with the dominant notes being ylang ylang and mandarin. The patchouli and snadalwood provide an earthier side to the scent and give it a darker edge. The myrrh is resinous and velvety. A gorgeous scent. I can't wait to try the other oils now. Major kudos to the lab!!!

EUTERPE In Bottle: Sour and powdery On Skin: Wow, this isn’t my thing at all. Very sour, very powdery… I’m shocked there isn’t rose in here. It reminds me of a more sour version of Utrennyaya. It has the foot crème feel to it. Actually, not sure if it’s because of I’m wearing the two scents, but it truly reminds me of Lysander as well! Just not as sweet! After about 10 minutes, the foot crème feel goes away. I smell a bit of the sweet honeysuckle, but the lemon and musk seem strongest, followed by the bitter carnation. A soft scent, very much in the same family as Utrennyaya and Lysander. How funny that I chose to try them all around the same time. Moderate throw and average wearlength.
-
LYSANDER In Bottle: Woody, sweet yet tart On Skin: The wood violet is just that, sweet like a violet and earthy and woody as well. Very nice! The lime offers a dagger of tart that pierces through the peaceful sweet world of the violet. The benzoin and tonka are creamy and velvety… I want to snuggle under the covers they create. The myrtle and blackberry leaf are herbal but not medicinal, very tame. The lilac musk gives a nice background and adds to the warmth of the scent. Overall a soft and comforting scent with a sweet subtle floral edge. Medium throw and average wearlength.
-
UTRENNYAYA In Bottle: Soft, sour and minty On Skin: The rose amps out of control, super bitter and sour. The violet tries to peek out and offer a sweet note but the rose slaps it away. The sandalwood is woody and clean. The mint holds it’s own though, very strong and combined with the rose I get a bit of a medicinal smell from this. Yep, it’s the Numb syndrome: foot cream. Not as bad as numb, but along the same lines. This scent has a few more notes that help keep it from making me cringe, but it’s still not my thing. It is very pungent and while seeming like a light smell, the throw is actually quite strong. The staying power is average to long.
