    The Pool of Tears

In Bottle: Sharp floral On Skin: This is a very sharp floral aquatic. It is one of those scents that does bring tears to my eyes because of how pungent it is. It smells like floral sea salts that you would use for your bath. The florals seem to be overcome by the “tears” though and it becomes more soapy and aquatic as the scent develops. Very bright… a white and blue feel. It’s a pretty scent but the aquatic perfumey feel gets to be a bit too much on me. Average to strong throw, short to average wearlength.

    Shattered

In Bottle: Beautiful clean ozone and soap On Skin: This is so pretty and feminine. Usually ozone scents feel masculine to me, but this one is so very womanly. It is so elegant, quite perfumey as well. It is a sharp scent, but not so much that it’s pungent. I think the lotus and the blooms help soften it with their sweetness. The champagne gives a bubbly effervescent feel that makes it sparkle even more. Yes, sparkle is the perfect word… this scent is pure sparkle. A perfect scent for a formal party or for an event you just want to feel extra special. It’s a little less sweet than Bon Vivant… Shattered is the more adult version. The mint is undercontrol, it gives just the slightest tingle and isn’t medicinal at all. The grapefruit is sweet & sour at the same time and gives a beautiful juicy feel. Over all, a gorgeous scent. If you like aquatics and grapefruit, you must try this scent. A medium to fairly strong throw and average wearlength.

    Phobos

Twin to Deimos and child of War, Phobos is the embodiment of terror and mortal fear. Chilling white musk, lemon verbena, white grapefruit and lemongrass. In Bottle: Extreme citrus On Skin: Phobos is the most citrusy scent I have ever smelled. More lemon than grapefruit for sure. Wow! Very refreshing and this would be an absolute perfect scent to use as a “wake-up” aromatherapy oil. It’s lightly tart but the white musk sweetens it and also deepens it, what a great mix!! I also think the floral lemon verbena helps sweeten the scent. I am usually not a citrus fan, but this scent puts me in a good mood. It says summer to me… warm, bright, yummy. I also get a Lemondrop feel from it, candied goodness. And I love, love, LOVE the white musk in it. Such a soft note usually, but it really provides a nice base for all the citrus. Strong throw at first, but fades after about an hour, so short wearlength.

    Dragon's Claw

In Bottle: Woody resin On Skin: I smell the sandalwoods right away, they are actually stronger than the Dragon’s Blood. The sandalwoods also seem darker… so I’m thinking if there is white sandalwood in this scent, it’s very light and the others shadow it. It’s a nice blend especially with the sweetness of the resin. The woodyness of it makes it quite earthy and balances the sweetness. If Dragon’s Blood is normally too sweet on you, I think you should try this blend. All in all a very nice scent. It doesn’t do much for me though, I am kind of neither here nor there with Dragon’s Blood for the most part. It also fades super quick. Light throw and short to average wearlength.

    Pluto

In Bottle: Chemicals On Skin: Eek, this smells toxic. Seriously, this smells like carpet cleaner… Resolve or something. My husband says it smells like antiseptic. For some reason the Celestial blends just don’t like me. There is a very metallic herbal in this and something slightly spicy. I also smell a wood of some sort, maybe fir? As the scent develops, it sweetens up a bit and loses a bit of it’s medicinal feel (thankfully). It becomes an energizing and stimulting blend. I might use it for aromatherapy but I don’t think I’ll wear it as a body scent. Strong throw and very long wearlength.

    Fire Eater

In Bottle: Red smoke On Skin: This is very, very smoky. It remind sme of Hellfire right away… not good. I really don’t like heavily smoky blends. While this one is sweet, I just can’t past that heavy cloud of smoke. Then a floral starts to come out. Hmm… smoky flowers, this really isn’t working on me. I am not getting the soapy note so many people have mentioned. I just smell smoke, a resin, and flowers… a resin of some sort and patchouli. Nothing about this scent captures me and I really don’t like it. Sorry Beth! I hate not liking a scent… Strong throw and long wearlength.

    Gypsy Queen

In Bottle: Sweet pretty incense On Skin: This is an exotic heavily incensed blend. The florals are niced controlled by the smoke and incense, they tone the sharpness down perfectly. Normally I reallt don’t like rose blends, but here it is so well blended it doesn’t stick out so it works fine on my skin. I LOVE the amber musk, it makes this scent drop dead seductive… it’s a “come hither” scent for sure. It reminds me of a distant floral cousin of Snake Oil or Snake Charmer with a smoky edge. The throw starts strong but fades pretty quickly. Overall average wearlength.

    Bed of Nails

In Bottle: Very masculine cologne On Skin: This is a man’s scent for sure. Rugged, strong and sturdy. Metallic yes, but also very, very aquatic. I like how clean it is and how it catches your attention right away. My husbands verdict? He likes it! He also remarked about getting a “clean vibe” from it. There is a wood note, very soft and pretty… sandalwood I’m thinking. I think I need to find a bottle for my hubby. Strong throw and long lasting power.

    Hunter Moon 2004

In Bottle: Smoky wine On Skin: This is an autumn scent for sure. The wine is the first note I smell… deep and red with a slight spice, followed by smoke. It does smell like a leaf bonfire, amazing how Beth does that. The lunar oils lend a nice smooth feel to this scent… they always seem to be slightly creamy to me and really bring a scent together... I love that! I smell a pine or mint or something herbal that does give the scent a light chill… very nice! The animalistic note is a musk of some sort, soft and fuzzy helping mellow out the herbal/pine note. The wine remains in front and gives the scent a feeling of cheer. As with almost every Autumn/Fall scent I’ve tried, it’s not for me. It is quite pretty, I’d just rather use it as a room scent. Medium to strong throw, average wearlength.

    Hexennacht (2005, 2016, 2019)

In Bottle: Smoky Fir On Skin: The fir and herbs are super strong and would border on medicinal if it weren’t for the deep smoke mellowing them out. Normally I don’t like smoky scents or tree/forest scents, but the smoke helps cut the sharpness of the fir and really blankets the scent in a soft and comforting feel. Icy herbal fir and warm smoky incense… a beautiful contrast. This is actually quite sexy… but I think it would need to be on a man, it seems very masculine to me. There is also something very sweet in this scent… it’s fruity… maybe berries or cherry? An amazing blend, just not one I’d wear myself. Strong throw and great long wearlength.

    Pulse Points

In Bottle: Primal floral On Skin: This scent is quite heavy at first and I smell the civet right away. I love musky scents, but civet and I really don’t get along. It turns very animalistic on me, and not in a good way. This smells like soapy cat pee on me. Odd yes… the soapy note is VERY strong… then it turns into the band-aid scent. Yikes! Sadly this is anything but erotic on me. Every once in a while, depending on how deeply I sniff, it actually smells pretty… but if I breathe in too long the band-aid scent takes over. I am so devestated this doesn’t work on me. Moderate to strong throw and short to average wearlength.

    Bruja

In Bottle: Resin and lilac On Skin: Oh, this is beautiful. Usually I am not a fan of lilac, but mixed with the beautiful dark golden myrrh and amber, we have a winner. This is a super sexy floral, “darkly sexual” hits it on the head. I love this!!! The resin and incense notes really ground the floral and make it soft but mysterious... lightly powdery but not enough to tickle my nose. A perfect night scent… not overwhelming but still intrigues you. This is gorgeous… I’m going to treasure my imp. I agree with Cranberry, it does remind me slightly of O... maybe it's darker sister... The throw is light but the wearlength is pretty good.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

CTIII number CLV In Bottle: Cherry, chocolate and mint On Skin: This translates to 155. This smells like a chocolate covered Halls cough drop. Very, very menthol with a sweet cherry or berry note. The chocolate is lighter than the other two notes but sweetens it up a bit and makes it slightly creamy. The chocolate note fades the quickest and the menthol remains the strongest note. Interesting… but not really me. Strong throw and long wearlength. CTIII bottle number CLXV In Bottle: Water, dirt and floral On Skin: This translates to 165. I get an aquatic note right off the bat, followed by a moist dirt/earth note. And a very strong floral, maybe orchid? This smells like a greenhouse or garden. Very alive and fresh. Quite pretty but not in an elegant way, more in a natural earthy way. Like someone who is prettier without makeup and completely in their own unique element. I really like this since it is so original and makes me feel freaking beautiful even though I’m sitting here in my pajamas. I can sense a few other notes in this but am having trouble pinning them down… something sweet for sure. I also think I might smell shea butter because it seems like a note in Obatala and that might just be the one. I’d love to see other reviews on this scent. Good throw and great wearlength.

    Dragon's Reverie

In Bottle: Dragon’s blood and floral On Skin: This is a very soft Dragon’s Blood vlend. The resin is obviously there, both in scent and color. The ylang ylang is very light, the amber actually covers it in even more sweet resin. The poppy to me is hiding because it never surfaces on my skin… at least not the poppy I'm expecting, poppy is usually a little spicy on me and I don't get that in this scent. I also get a lilac or slightly lavender feel from this scent… it actually is pretty heavy on the floral. But overall I don’t get much from this scent. It just seems like a softer Dragon’s Blood blend but doesn’t really grab me. Still, it’s quite pretty and worth trying for sure. Very soft throw and short to average wearlength.

    Harvest Moon 2006

In Bottle: Dark and crisp fruits On Skin: This is my favorite Harvest Moon so far. It is so crisp and fresh and so very delicious! The apple seems to come out first, and is followed by the rice milk. I LOVE the smell of rice milk so this makes me very happy. There are so many notes in this blend and they all meld so well together. Every once in a while, one will shine through for a moment… the dusty wheat giving a sweet but slightly powdery feel, the hickory and hazlelnut giving nutty but slightly spicy earthy notes, the green tea leaf and sage giving a beautiful bright and herbal twinkle, and the chrysanthemum giving a light and sort of bitter floral edge. The berries and fruits mix into a dark red punch, refreshing but not heavy or sticky. This is a perfect scent for autumn, so very beautiful… It has a light throw and sadly fades quickly on my parched skin, but I do love it!!!

    King of Spades

In Bottle: Blackberry and resin On Skin: So sweet and dark! I feel the blackberries dripping in this, ripe and sweet. Together with the plum this is a beautiful purple scent. I also notice that the blackberry note is the exact same blackberry note in Monster Bait: Closet. That’s scaring me a little since Closet turned to cat pee on me pretty quickly. The coconut comes out and I’m in love, I love coconut blends and mixed with the vanilla it offers an amazing creamy blanket of sweetness. The woods and opopanax offer a nice deep almost sticky resinous feel with a slight powder from the white musk that balances it out (yay, white musk always saves the day!!). I don’t smell the oakmoss… and I am so happy to say the vetiver is so light it’s actually working with me. I love this scent and really don’t see it as masculine. Just very dark, sexy and yummy. I still love Queen of Spades more but this is still amazing. I get a great throw from this and low to average wearlength.

    Leo

In Bottle: Woody powder On Skin: I was excited for this scent above all others because I am a true Leo. I like the deep woodyness of this scent, but I smell something almost chemically in the background. It’s also very powdery and powdery scents usually don’t work too well with me. I was very worried about the juniper since it’s usually sharp on me but the heliotrope both softens and sweetens the scent. Sandalwood is one of my favorite notes and my favorite wood for sure so it is a pleasant addition. It is very light and pretty. The lime and orange give the tangy note that I think smells chemically. Interesting and a nice blend to experience, but not really something I’d wear even though I like it a lot more as it develops and melds with my skin. Fairly strong throw and average to long wearlength.

    Dead Man's Hand

In Bottle: LEATHER On Skin: Did I just walk into Wilson’s leather store? This is leather to such an extreme it’s overwhelming. It is powdery/dusty smelling… very dry. This is perfectly an “Old Out West” scent. If I was to do any roleplaying or dressed up as someone from that era I would have to wear this, it is so authentic! But… I have no desire to dress up as a cowboy so I see this scent probably going unused for the most part. I’ll keep it for my collection but I can’t wear it again, it’s giving me a huge headache, sadly. Maybe use it as a room scent if I have a “Deadwood” viewing party? SUPER strong throw and long wearlength.

    Oisin

In Bottle: Herbal and perfumey On Skin: Wow! Not what I expected! This has to be one of the most unique BPAL blends I have ever smelled. Amazing job Beth!! I can now see what all the fuss about this scent is about… I want more too!! But not for me, I’m thinking it’s much more masculine and I’d LOVE this on my husband. I made him smell it and he thinks it’s a bit soapy for his tastes but after me exclaiming how much I love it, it’s growing on him as well. It’s all about the white musk. I am so in love with white musk. The herbs are soft and buttery rather than being medicinal which really makes my day. The blossoms are soft as well so this isn’t an overly floral scent. I am goo-goo over this… it’s my 2nd favorite masculine scent after The Bow & Crown of Conquest. Sadly it has SUPER light throw and the wearlength is pretty short. Hard to slather this one when I only have ½ an imp of it…

    Lobban

In Bottle: Powdery incense On Skin: I get musky incense with a slight citrus twist… not at all the sharp lemon other people have mentioned. The incense has a light smoke which is actually quite comforting and warm. The musk gives it a depth that also warms the scent but also makes it a little sexy. The scent turns powdery pretty quick. The lemon comes forward more as the scent develops as well as a very light sweet floral. All in all a beautiful scent but it is very light and I have to inhale deeply several times to really get a feel for it. Very light throw and short to average wearlength.

    Yuki-Onna

In Bottle: Lemon Pledge On Skin: The lemon verbena is singing as top note. Lemon to the extreme! The sandalwood gives this scent a beautiful soft blanket to lie on and the jasmine gives a pretty feminine quality. The bergamot isn’t harsh which is nice. This is a very floral fruity scent, it doesn’t seem to like me much but I love the description so I had to try it. I don’t get snow, or winter from it. To me it’s more yellow and springlike… like drinking a glass of lemonade while sitting in the garden. Soft and powdery, very pretty. Average throw and average wearlength.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

BOTTLE "LXXIII" which translates to 73. In Bottle: Light resin and strong floral On Skin: This is bottle ”LXXIII”. I get florals right away. I smell lily and maybe jasmine, quite strong. There is something earthy to them, meaning it smells like real flowers, not perfectly clean… they have a little dirt on them still and you can smell the planty part of them as well. There is a deep but light resin in the background which contrasts with the bright floral nicely. It keps the scent grounded. I also think I smell a little spice… very faintly though. I like that this is not your everyday floral but it is a little overwhelmingly floral for my tastes. Very feminine and very bold. It has a very strong throw and long wearlength.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

BOTTLE "XC" which translates to 90 In Bottle: Woody soap On Skin: This is bottle “XC”. Hmm… not really liking this one at first. It is woody but also soapy… some kind of ozone note which turns slightly medicinal on me. It might be a floral… violet or lavender which both turn funky on me. It reminds me of a woody Numb. Sightly icy and cold but warmed just a bit by the wood note. Clean and fresh, I get a blue/white/grey feel from this. It’s very soft, not a strong or overwhelming blend, this one also lies close to the skin. Pretty, but not only feminine… I could see either men or women wearing it. As it develops on my skin I like it more. There is also a fruity note… nothing super sweet. At first I think melon… but no not sweet enough, then cucumber… but no that’s not it either. But it has the same feel as both of those notes. Fresh, light green and yummy. The woody scent has completely faded and it ends up a more fresh slightly melon ozone scent on me. While I may not wear this scent often, I do like it eventually becomes on me and I’ll probably keep and imp and swap the rest. Light throw and average wearlength.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

BOTTLE "C" translates to 100 In Bottle: Light skin musk with floral On Skin: This bottle is labeled “C”. This is the lightest most gentle BPAL scent I have ever smelled. It has a bright note, a floral, maybe a lily? It’s sweet with a very slight tartness… so pretty. There is also a very faint musky note… not anything overwhelming, more like the white musk single note, barely there but a close to the skin “skin musk”. Skin musks smell like you, only better. The floral comes out even stronger and I would officially call this a light floral scent. I normally am not a fan of florals, but this one is so gentle and soft and close to the skin I love it. It seems like a scent that would compliment anyone and be perfect for any occasion. Very very pretty. Although it’s a little light for my taste (I prefer a stronger feel), I can see myself wearing this for sure. Light throw and average wearlength.

    Et Lux Fuit

In Bottle: Light soapy floral On Skin: This seems very soapy at first. But so freaking beautiful!!! Bright and golden, warm and comforting…. “big ol’ bottle of sunny, happy, bounciness” sums it up perfectly!!! The florals are light, not overly perfumey and I am so happy to say the carnation is working with me, it blends nicely with the daisy and sunflower and I think the heliotrope’s sticky sweetness is counteracting the usually bitter note carnation normally has on me. The amber is a bit powdery but the honeycomb wets it a bit making a nice combination of sweet warmth. The lemon peel stands out and helps balance the sweetness of the other notes. The neroli gives an exotic edge and the vanilla musk wraps everything up in a light veil of YUM! I think this scent is the cousin to La Fee Verte without the absinthe note. La Fee has a green feel whereas as Et Lux is very yellow gold. I usually like darker scents, but if I want to give myself a pick me up or am going to a celebration, this is the scent to wear. I love it! Light throw and short to average wearlength.
