    Dragon's Heart

I was worried about this one. I had tried a different scent with dragon's blood in it, and that ended up being a cloyingly sweet cherry floral... This, though... The amber(or is it musk? I don't see amber listed, but, I am fairly new to scents) was the most noticable in the imp and wet on me. Then it dried down to a very warm sweet incensy fragrance. The dragon's blood note seems to throw further than the rest of the scents, so the wafting scent is more dragon's blood than what I get if I get close to my skin to sniff. I don't know if I want a bottle, but, I am not nearly as worried about dragon's blood in scents after this one. I'll keep it and use it, when the mood strikes. Later, This is also lasting amazingly well on my skin. I put it on at 5:30 AM this morning, and it is now 3:00 PM and I can still smell it clearly. It has settled down into a warm, slightly sweet, spicy musk. If my husband can bring himself to say something more complimentary than, "Yeah, it's perfume," then we'll see about getting more.

    Red Lantern

My first bottle purchase. In the bottle, coconut, caramel and alcohol. Wet on me, where'd the coconut go? Sugar, alcohol, and spices as a background. Drying, the spices are coming forward. On my elbow, the sweetness sticks around. There's a touch of floral there, with spices and possibly opium. Maaaybe a little of the coconut is still in evidence there. My wrist is all warm spices, tobacco, and opium. Mostly it's fading to tobacco and opium. The back of my hand seems to have the most rounded version of the notes. I can smell the spices, opium, and tobacco most dominantly, but, there's a sweetness backing it. The coconut is not in the foreground. I suspect that it is part of what is mellowing and tying the other notes together, but, if I want to smell coconut, this won't be the fragrance I go for. Even the caramel that was so strong in the bottle is just sweetening for the spiciness of this. I catch a whiff of the caramel once in a while, because I know it is there. The booze, as well, I get in occasional whiffs. I love the scent, so far. It's complex, warm and spicy. I am so very glad I figured out before this that my wrist doesn't show anything but the resins and incense notes. If I had tried this only on my wrist, I'd be smelling only the tobacco, amber, and opium. Those are nice, but, it's the layering of everything else with those notes that I really like. Have I mentioned that I love this scent? It is also the only scent I have been complimented on so far.

    Bordello

A frimp from the lab. In the imp, sweet candy sweet floral. Wet, on me, cotton candy. Well, maybe cotton candy in a flowering garden. Drying, there are berry notes becoming more noticable. Blackcurrant? I'm not sure. Maybe it's a big heaping bowl of mixed berry candies. Oh, and the flowers I thought I could smell earlier are overwhelmed by the purple sweetness. I can't tell if they are there anymore. People are going to think I brought sweets in to the office today. Just a bit later, the scent is getting a little smoother. It is still really sweet, but, tending slightly more to the sweetness of a dessert, or a fruity cocktail. I'm reminded of the bed and breakfast that my husband and I stayed in for a couple nights on our honeymoon. They had a glass jar full of fruit steeping in alchohol on a sideboard, though I didn't actually have any, and I don't recall what alcohol they actually used...If it were a mostly plum and blackcurrant mix with brandy over it, that could be this scent. Several hours later, the drop on my elbow still smells like fruit steeped in sweet wine, but, there's this tantalizing whiff of tobacco coming from my wrist. It's about like the smell of an empty cigar box, and it is less apparent if I go close and sniff my wrist. My wrist is where it is coming from, though. If there is any tiny bit of a resin or incense, my wrists seem to amp that, and eliminate most other scents. apparently it has found just a hint of tobacco in the scent. I hate the smell of cigarettes, but, I have found other tobacco scents very appealing in the past. Cigar boxes and pipe tobacco usually smell so much better than cigarettes that I wonder what they do to cigarettes to make them so unappealing to me. Anyhow...I went home at lunch and put on more Bordello. Mmmm.

    Nuit

A frimp from the lab. In the imp, roses and jasmine! Wet on me, mostly jasmine. There are a few patches of jasmine currently blooming in gardens on the way we often walk to breakfast on weekends. This smells like the breeze when it is blowing over one of those bits of garden towards us. Nice! As I am beginning to expect, the rose note is most noticable on the drops I put on my elbow and the back of my hand. The drop on my wrist is beginning to show a bit of incense. I really don't know what moonflower smells like yet, so I can't say if it is there or not. A bit later, mostly I smell roses now, and the jasmine has faded almost completely. The drop on my elbow smells most like fresh lush roses, and the bit on my wrist is more like a rose and incense blend.

    Fire of Love

A frimp from the lab. =) In the imp, green, resin and maaaybe some musk? Wet on me, woods and resins so far...and much much more throw than I was expecting given the imps I had tried before. My husband is probably not going to like this, as he likes the "me" smell more than any perfume. Plus his nose is apparently more sensitive to smells...he can't tell the notes yet, but, he can smell perfume long after I can't. Much more powerful than the ones I have been trying, and not fading as fast either. Drying on my wrist, incense, and behind that some sort of musk? Drying on the back of my hand, Cedar? Some sort of wood or possibly amber? with incense and musk behind. On the elbow, Cedar and maybe amber, with incense and musk further behind as a mere background. After about three hours, I smell cedar and a little sandalwood, maybe. My wrist, which seems to amp incense, has more of an incense note. The scents are all still fairly strong. This one seems to last on me. Husband's reaction so far? "Whoah, you have perfume on!" and then 30 seconds later,"and it lingers..." This is after I passed through the room he was in. I didn't have him sniff my arm. Much later in the day, it was still there, and mostly cedar with perhaps a couple other notes hiding under the tree. This is by far the most persistent of the scents I have tried. It even lingered after my shower on my elbow. I like the scent, but, I don't know whether I can atribute this afternoon's happy activity with my husband to the scent or just to having a nice lazy day by ourselves with nowhere we needed to be.

    Poisoned Apple

A frimp from the lab. In the imp, apple. Wet on my hand, apple. Wet on my wrist, apple, and...something else behind it. Yay for the clue that perfume applied to wrists sometimes doesn't smell the same as elsewhere. On my wrist, I am getting much more of the other notes in addition to the apple, so far. Drying, on my hand and elbow, still mostly apple. Nice and sweet, not candy or cloying. On my wrist, there the smell if incense with about the same amount of apple. If it is mostly my wrists that amp the incense and resins, that will be very nice to know. I'll have to test a few other scents again to find out for sure. Sniffing again a bit later. So far, the apple on my elbow is still sweet and fresh, like an early morning farmer's market apple display. The bit on the back of my hand is warmer, like those same apples after the sun has been out a while. It is also fainter, I expect the skin is dryer and soaking up the scent faster. My wrist is amping the incense notes. Maybe this is the kitchen the apples are taken to after they are purchased, and the smell of the apples is mixing with the burning incense in the next room. This wasn't an imp I would have picked on my own. Apple didn't sound as exciting as some other things, but, I am liking this best of the frimps tested so far.

    Loviatar

A frimp from the lab. In the imp, It just smelled like perfume...which may be an odd thing to say, but, I was reminded of testing my mom's scents back when I was 11 or so. I can't pick anything out. Drying, on me, I begin to pick out the resins. Dry on me, amber(I think. My nose is still learning) mostly, with some myrrh, and maybe a background whiff of other things that I can't quite make out. So far, for every scent that I have tried, my skin has amped the resins or incense over all the other notes. I really need something to kick that amber back into the background on this one. Two hours later, the whole scent is much fainter. Apparently the amber got the message, and I think I can smell...musk?...maybe some leather. Overall, the scent two hours in isn't very strong, but, it seems to be better balanced. The question is if I can stand the time between application and this stage enough to actually wear it much. My husband says he likes this one better than last night's experimental imp(Goblin) because this one is fainter. I asked him if he could smell anything in particular, and he said, "Nope, just perfume. I have a guy nose." He really does believe that perfume and smells are a girl turn on more than a guy thing.

    Goblin

This was a frimp. I am slowly working my way through all the frimps that were in my order. =) In the imp, Patchouli. Wet on me, patchouli and coconut. Nice! My favorite one so far, I think(out of three tried, hee! Yes, I am very new). A few minutes later, the patchouli seems to be getting the upper hand. Darn. I'm sniffing, hoping the coconut will come back. I don't mind the patchouli, but, I liked the scent better when the coconut was apparent. So far, my skin seems to be amping the patchouli or resin in the scents that I have tried, and hiding everything else. I may have to try a few of the scents again in a scent locket to see if I have better luck.

    Wrath

This was a frimp with my first order to arrive. In the imp, a sweet floral that must be the dragon's blood. Wet on me, the sweet floral that must be the dragon's blood. I get no pepper, no cloves, and no cinnamon. Dry on me, the sweet floral that must be the dragon's blood, and maybe a whiff of ...musk or incense? Well it's gone now. All I smell is dragon's blood. Several hours later, a faint sweet floral that must be the dragon's blood, and I really, really hope that not all dragon blood mixes end up being single notes on me. I was looking forward to the pepper, cloves, and cinnamon. I even told my hubby that a couple of the frimps had cinnamon in them, because he likes cinnamon so much. *sigh* This one is not working.

    Sri Lanka

From a frimp included in the first ever order arriving from BPAL. Wow....they really want to feed the addiction. I have a bunch to try! Sri Lanka was the first one that I opened, partly because the Wanderlust series looks so interesting. I have imps of Bengal and Old Morrocco on the way in a different order. In the imp, I can't really discern anything beyond sweet and green. It could be my uneducated nose, though. Wet, on me, still green(if a color can be a scent), but I can almost smell some kind of floral, but nothing I recognise. As it dries, the incense becomes more apparent. I am liking it better dry than wet, though it still may not be for me. I think that is the patchouli that I am smelling more of now. Though it smells nice enough, I can't really get excited over just patchouli. Several hours later, all I smell is a nice incense. It's subtle...or some might call it faint.
