Men men men men .... yep , this is one manly perfume oil we have here . Seriously , not sure if many ladies could " pull this one off " or not . This is a fairly aged bottle , so your mileage may vary . In the bottle , I'm mainly getting booze . However , upon application , the musk & citrus notes are coming out as well . This one is quite sweet smelling . Probably the combo of musk , rum & tobacco . This has a decent throw to it as well . But you need to hover over it to get the orange & lime . Further out you mainly get booze , maybe some musk . I like this one quite a bit , but will assume it really isn't for everyone . At least a hour later ... I'm pretty much not getting any orange now , just a tiny hint of the lime . So this is now pretty much booze & musk . I still like it , but it was better with the citrus to cut the heavier notes .

I too was certain I reviewed this one . Will make up for that mistake now . The bottle I have is at least 1 1/2 years old , maybe 2 . As others have said , the pine is probably the first note to launch out of the bottle . But shortly after applying , the vanilla & musk come along & reign it in nicely . All the notes have a say in this one , no one note remains on top for too long . The patchouli & honey have a say in keeping the peace as well . I tend to amp honey , but not so much in this . This is a case on the pine keeping the honey at bay , for me . All in all a really great blend that most anyone should be able to pull off , but some may want to wait for cooler weather . It is not a light blend in the least . Great for both sexes as well .

Man , this is just a great mix of notes . The fig & cocoa come out on me , with the woods & coconut happily dancing in the background . A nice blend where no one note overpowers . It's so nicely blended , in fact , that I can sniff it & actually pick all of them out . Can't do that very often with BPAL , not every note . I'd call this unisex , would smell great on most anyone .

This is a very clean scent . A little sweet , but not overly so . Not beating you over the head citrus-y either , which is good in my book . A rather subtle scent you need to hover over to huff . Not bad , but a little weaker then I generally care for . A day later ... After I had this on for a hour , I noticed it wasn't as weak as I first said . Also , it came up with a hard to explain / describe group of notes that made me think of green glass full of a mild citrus drink . I've smelled the Labs "glass" note before & am amazed every time . I don't know how they do it , the note in this makes me think of that greenish volcanic glass you see sometimes . In blobs . So I'd say this actually does a very good job of capturing the instrument it is meant to mimic / envision .

This does have the typical lotus note of something sticky sweet . But the amber , myrrh & sandalwood are keeping it at bay quite nicely . Not sure if it's something I'd wear ( this was a frimp from the lab ) , but it does smell much nicer than I expected it to . I've smelled other lotus blends & didn't really care for them . But this is quite a bit darker & more subdued then they were . Thumbs up here

This is from a imp I got close to 2 years ago ( god I'm getting old ) . When I first got it , I wasn't really sure if I like it or not . So I don't know if it's the aging or what , but I'm in the liking it camp now . This is all resins & sandalwood & man does it smell great . It is a bit of a " green " scent as well . Maybe the wood that went into Anne's ship is not so weathered . Also I seen to remember it being sweeter smelling when I first got it , if so I'm glad to see that has calmed down .

The scent of tea - BPAL's tea note, BPAL blends like your favorite tea
GeorgeJr replied to sarada's topic in Recommendations
I love the Lab's tea note , but sadly it's one of those things that vanishes quickly on my skin -
I am happy to say that this smells great on me . It does have a serious throw , so watch out applying it . None of the notes faded out on me as I went through the work day . And all notes were in play . Just a wonderful , boozy scent that I would suggest for any guy . And , best of all , I could tell that several ladies I work with were enjoying it as well the day I had it on ( doesn't always happen , sadly ) . Lots of pleasant smiles after obvious sniffing the air when they were near me that day

Perhaps Brimstone & Inferno ?

As a older boy I can promote freely my love for Mad Hatter . Not sure how a younger boy would feel about it though . I'm currently a fan of Laudanum , kids might get a kick out of it's root beer-y kind of scent .

Amazingly ( for me ) , I may have finally found a blend with rose in it that I can live with . This is really nice , rather subdued as far as I'm concerned . I get the rose in it ( as usual ) , but the other notes mute it a bit & also darken it up a bit . After wearing it a while , I am mainly getting rose ( no real surprise there , my nose tends to amp rose to my brain ) . But at least it's not beating me over the head , making me want to sneeze rose . I'll have to give this a trial at work to see what some of the ladies there think of it .

Just wanted to add , I'm wearing The Great Sword of War today & loving it quite muchly . Very nice scent for cooler weather .

So , got this one last year & it really hasn't changed much to my nose . Sadly the thing I get from this is pumpkin & not much of anything else . I say sadly because some of the other notes that are supposed to be in this are some of my faves . And I get none of them . I get pie filling , nuthin else

This is all cold , black leather all the time . Combined with seriously manly musk This is scent NOT for the faint hearted . I remember going to Willcall & this being something I tried just a small drab of , then driving home & smelling nothing but Brom , even though I had tried others that night . So , throw = strong . If you're looking for a leather to top Whip , Lovitar or any of the other lab leather scents , this is the one for you .

From a 08 bottle in celebration of Halloween 09 ! This honestly smells like nothing less then freshly turned , damp , dark earth . If you've ever worked in a garden , pulling weeds , tending to your plants , you'll know this smell . Whether you will embrace it like others ( including me ) have is totally up to you though . I could see this being a real love it or hate it kind of scent , with very little middle ground . My GF said to her it smells like algae , like from a fish tank . I can see where she's coming from a bit . It isn't totally dissimilar from that smell . But to me it really smells like when I used to get up early , turning over the ground in my parents garden to search for big , fat earthworms for fishing

For a immediate comparison , this really reminds me of Raven Moon , but for me it's a bit less feminine than R M . It also has very little throw . However , the throw it has is quite nice . This is a very cool , dark kind of scent . Really nice & I hope it'll make a come back sometime soon . Also , this is the 07 blend . I just sniffed it by Raven Moon . So it doesn't really smell like it It has some similarities , but R M is more sweet in a fruity kind of way . It does have vetiver , but it's a wholly different kind of vetiver . It has the smell , but not the usual sharp hotness I associate vetiver with . This is more of a woody / root-y vetiver . The combo of notes makes for a almost musky kind of blend .

When I first got my bottle of W.D. , I wasn't really blown away by it . It was ok , and at least it go all play dough on me ( a couple of the other snakes did ) . So I've had this for about 1 1/2 years now . And I have to say I appreciate it much more now than I did then . I love how the Snake Oil blends with the sage , tonka & sandalwood . I still really do not notice the leather note much at all . Funny how much others have . I can assume it's the labs more subdued , worn leather as opposed to the serious , shiny black leather . But having gotten into really liking the smell of sage , this bottle is pure win for me .

Ok , so the first thing I can say about this one is it's 2 years old & still smells pretty damned great . I get mainly leaves blowing on a autumn wind from this . Freshly fallen & not yet rotting apart . Not quite like walking in the woods on a crisp day here on the east coast . Cool maybe , but not really cold at all . But if you like " green " scents , this would not be a bad one to try .

This is a nice enough scent . It doesn't really send me over the moon though . It's very subdued , not very sweet . Not very anything , really . I mainly get the wool / cream / beeswax from this . Honestly , it's not a bad scent , it's just not enough to get me excited about it . Inoffensive would maybe be the best word I could use for it .

This is from a bottle of 08 . I get mainly apple & potpourri Not what I really want from a scent that is supposed to evoke Samhain . I have had this since I got it a year ago & sadly it's never gotten any darker then my description . I get no patchouli ( wish I did , it might knock down the sweetness a bit ) . It would probably make a nice room scent for fall / winter , but just isn't making it for me as far as a body scent goes .

You know , I put off trying this frimp for a long time . I read the notes & said to myself " that'll be too sweet , or too foody for me " & just let it sit in my imp holder . So today I grabbed a random imp to try & here it was . And I must admit that I like this a LOT more then I ever would have thought I would . This is really dark , not that sweet at all . The chocolate is hardly noticeable as chocolate to me , more like a dark base of some kind to hold the sweetness of the fruits back . And holy cow do the orange & cherry go well together . This is seriously a kind of boozy scent for sure . Kind of like a liquor I'd had years ago but can't remember the name of . I must run this by the other half tonight & see what she thinks .

First of all , sniffing the bottle I could have it was so strong . Very much cologne/aftershave with a bit of a almost citrus scent in it . I let it sit all day today & am trying it out now , hoping it might settle from arriving yesterday . On my skin it is seriously strong , lot's of waft going on here . I am sitting here now about a hour later , and while it has calmed down a bit , it is still very strong . Gonna have to apply this lightly . Sadly due to allergies I only have half a nose to work with . Not sure about the rest of you , but I was curious about this aqua admirabilis . So I googled it and got this list of ingredients ... grape spirits, oils of neroli, bergamot, lavender and rosemary . Don't know that I really am getting much from that note other then the lavender , maybe some bergamot . I do get the polished boot leather , but not the blood . I intend to let this age a while & see if the blood does come forward , because if it does it will help level this scent out . Right now it may be too strong for me , & that's saying something . Edit , about a half hour later - Now it's gone mostly soapy . Really gonna need to let this age ...
-
My bottle arrived today , so here goes . In the bottle I'm hardly smelling anything . Wet on skin - First there is a burst of sandalwood with just a slight leather . Later , after it has dried the musk comes out . The musk is very close to the skin compared to the other notes . This is quite nice right now , but I agree with others in that I too think it will age into something quite worth having .
-
Like most here , this really isn't what I expected . But I do like it quite a bit . I have no experience with Hunter moon , but this does remind me of something else I do have a bottle of . It's quite a bit like Tokyo Stomp , but with the mint tuned down a lot . There is something that is a l m o s t minty in here , & I swear there is vanilla in there too . I do love all things musky , and in Creature Feature I think the musks are tied to the other notes quite nicely . I think I'll be checking more deeply into the DD scents

I'll start this review by stating I love Loviatar , both on myself & the GF . In the bottle - it's more musk , myrrh & amber then anything . Not really getting the leather at all at this point . Wet on skin - Getting some of the leather now . Before the leather kicked in , this was very reminiscent of Fenris Wolf . And of course the wolf is one of my faves , so this was bound to follow suit . Drying down - This is some kinda sexy scent . And it really is a lot like FW with leather punching through it . Just has that same spicy , red musky goodness . Sadly I have a summer cold , or I'd probably be trying to come up with more positives . All I can say is if you're into the leather note or enjoy dark , sexy scents this IS for you .
