In a attempt to recover from my latest rose amping saga , I am turning to someone more to my liking for aid . And Gaueko is most assuredly more to my liking . This is just fantastic . The more I sniff , the more notes become apparent to me . Mainly I seem to be getting the lavender & the labdanum . Although the sandalwood nag champa are both noticeably as well . This , this is the kind of blend that has made me love the lab so much . Back strong rose , the wonderful Gaueko has taken me under his wing . Man , that is one sensual scent ...

In my never ending attempt to find ANY BPAL with rose in it that won't amp on me , I am here trying Nuit . It's funny . It's not like I don't enjoy the smell of roses . It's just that I would like to smell anything else that may also be in that freaking bottle besides it So , as usual this is nothing but rose on me . For what it's worth it is very nice rose . Not quite as overwhelming as some of the others I've tried . I really had hopes for this one because I do love the BPAL musks so . And I don't think I have anything else with white musk in it . But all I get is roseroseroserose.........

This is surprisingly sweet indeed . Not really rose though . My body is like Spinal Taps amps with rose , it goes to 11 ! This however does not have that effect , so I vote against it being rose . Honey , on the other hand , is a definite possibility in my mind . It reminds me a bit of a honey liquor I drank once ages ago , Drambuie . Drambuie is all honey & herbs & spices . It's very nice to have a sip or two on a cold winters night . Especially by a fire with your honey ( ironic that ) . So , back to Anubis . This has a pretty strong throw & lasts quite a while on me . Took several hours before I actually had to " try " to smell it on me . Even now , over 8 hours later , I still can catch the ghost of it on me . So , I do like it , but would probably not wear it often . Not a bottle for me , though I will go through the imp I have for sure .

Yoiks & away ! As I'm sure is obvious if you've gotten this far into the reviews , this is mighty strong stuff . Not for the faint of heart or nose . I also agree with the smelling like a cedar chest comments . I don't know that it's much different to my nose for other scents that have a strong patchouli note . Most things I try that are like that , all I smell is the patchouli . Don't know that I'm getting any vetiver at all here . This sin't as overwhelming to me as Brimstone was . That stuff was brutal . This is strong , but I can deal with this strength level .

And here I had about decided that the labs wine note wasn't for me . This on the other hand is full of win . Just a opulent , sweet red wine with the amber & plum swirling through it . This has a serious throw on it . And a good lasting time . When I first sniffed it in the bottle , I was afraid it would be too strong in the wine department . Glad I decided to brave it & it really paid off .

Will have to agree with others that in the bottle I'm not getting much beyond vanilla . However , as soon as applied , it becomes a sultry combo of the wood notes & a smoky vanilla . I really need to find a good , strong amber blend so I can pick it out better in the future . As the vanilla fades more , I do believe I do notice the amber now . A few hours later this has become the usual amber blend powder smell . I really don't mind this , because we are talking a good 5-6 hours later . While it was still in play , the woods & amber did blend wonderfully with the vanilla hiding in the back .

This is from a non aged imp from the lab . It is rather dark & did go one with a kind of yellow-ish look to it . The main thing I got from it was a patchouli vibe . Not much else . After being on my skin I did notice a bit of vanilla behind it all . But it's honestly hardly there to notice in my nose . I also now understand what folks are talking about when they mention play dough . It is funny what we associate scents with . Not saying it really does smell like play dough , just that I do notice a similarity . Spicy play dough perhaps . I am not running to the sink to wash it off , for despite my less then ringing endorsement for it I do find it growing on me . For one thing , while I do get a patchouli vibe from it , it's not beating me over the head screaming patchouli like some other things I've tried . It's more lurking to pounce . And I am more then willing to let any of my bottles age , so I'm very much looking forward to what happens to this as it does . It's funny to me that it's in the Ars Amatoria section , cause I find it to be a very mind stimulating scent .

Right off I'll admit that I have yet to smell Snake Oil by itself . But if it's anything like Death Adder , I can safely say I'll be addicted . This is simply put the best bottle I've gotten at this date from the lab . It is the kind of scent that makes me want to do dirty . nasty things . In the bottle I mainly get the coconut & a little of the vanilla . On my skin however , the vetiver comes out to play . And it is amazing in this blend . There is also a musky background scent , the Snake Oil mayhaps ? Colors coming to mind ? A dark , rich smooth velvet . Possibly maroon . It really is quite amazing . It's like smelling a dark rum & coconut drink that has then been warmed , no toasted . I'd rate this a 5 out of 5 , easily .

When I first opened this up , I got a bit giddy because it smelled so complex . Upon arrival upon my skin , my first though was of burning candles . Specifically beeswax candles . Now that I look at the description again , I think it's the combo of the honey scent & the smokiness I'm getting that makes me think that . About 5 minutes into it , I get a massive geek flashback . I'm sitting around a table in my friend Brian's gaming room , rolling dice , slaying monsters , pouring over the tomes of Gygax . You have to realize , there was a time in my gaming life where we would light several candles on the table & turn out all other lights . We also had a fire place burning during the cooler months of the year , so it tended to be smoky in there . So , back to The Philosopher . Upon drying I'm amping the honey above most everything else . No more embers , sadly . I'm also getting a bit of the wine scent others have mentioned . I'm not acquainted with these incense types , but I think I may have to look into them in the future . As the original scent I had from the bottle & on wet was delicious .

Great Cesar's Ghost ! This is the real deal here folks This is the reason that I'm here , loving the BPAL like I never thought I would love any kind of perfumes / cologne . While I'm aware that there are flower notes in this ( carnation & lavender ) , I feel they be being used more as a balancer for the other more pronounced ingredients . The main notes I get from this are the leather , cedarwood , vanilla & the musk . I'm not sure about the sage , as I have little experience with it . While I probably would say this in slightly more masculine , I do feel it would work quite nicely on most anyone . It has a good throw & makes me want to sniff myself all day long . As the day goes by , the leather & musk are the notes that stay with me the most . This is a sweet scent in all the right ways . Just perfection in a bottle .

I'm a little saddened to see Umbra at the back of the Bewitching Brews reviews , so let's see if I can't help remedy that . I find this to be a wonderful , dark scent . As it should be going by it's description . But , while it may be dark & full of things that might at first throw you off from trying it ( patchouli & vetiver ) , give it a shot on your skin in a small dose . It really does bloom into something beyond the strong patchouli note at the beginning . And I feel the the cedarwood helps mellow it out a bit , acting as a ground for the patchouli & vetiver . I haven't really gotten any of the cinnamon out of it , but that might just be my chemistry . This has quite the throw & lasts most of a day on me . But most patchouli blends do on me . All in all this is a great scent for emboldening yourself .

This is funny . To me Dee is the perfect example as to how your nose can change . When I first got into BPAL , I received a frimp of Dee . I tried it , but the first thing I got out of it was " typical mens cologne " . My GF , on the other hand , was blown away by how it smelled on me . I didn't " get " any of the notes out of it . It just struck me as nothing that great . Now , I feel totally different . Now I am able to sort out scents much better then I used to . Now I get the rich leather from Dee . The lovely sweet wood & parchment that almost has a smokiness to it . Now , I get the hidden subtext of sexuality oozing from the scent . This has gone from " meh " to " must have a bottle on hand " in a matter of months . It's scents like these that make me a fan of the lab . Anything that makes me grow as a person in any way , I have always considered a good thing . Learning about these scents has helped me learn about myself in some way . I thank the lab for the lesson .

Wow . This is one strong brute of a scent . I don't get the ginger bread as much as others when I'm wearing it . However , my GF had it on yesterday & I now know of what they speak . Upon my skin , it was more of a dark , screamingly strong ginger . Not really sweet , like something baked . It has much throw ( in the car yesterday I couldn't smell what I was wearing at all due to the GF being there too ) . All in all though it is one of my current favorites from the lab . Very unisex .

This was a frimp with the first order I ever got from the lab . Thanks lab ! This is not as dark as I would have expected it to be , going by the name . It's aquatic all right , with a bit of citrus behind it I think . Visually it makes me think of seeing someone swimming beneath the waves , with the sun filtering down through the waters turning them shades of yellow & light green . I definitely agree with earlier posts that it is a bit cologne like . Which for my taste is a good thing

I have a imp of Djinn on the way . And the last Will Call was my first one . I was sniffing my way through assorted bottles when I saw Lucifer & thought " I have no idea what that one smells like , let's give it a go " . Later , after they scraped me off the floor ... It wasn't bad , but it certainly was " in your face " . I will have to get a bottle eventually . For myself , I would promote The Isles of Demons , The Wild Men of Jezirat al Tennyn , Troll , the Great He-Goat " that one could pole ax you as hard as Lucifer , let me tell you " . Honestly , there are so many scents from the lab I love . Some of which I wouldn't classify for either sex but both . First order I got came with a frimp of Aeval . Upon dabbing a bit on my hand my nose just about had a orgasm . Now , would I wear it myself ? Not sure . Maybe . I'd prefer to run it by a few ladies noses on me first to see what they thought .

This scent hasn't gotten anywhere near the amount of love I think it deserves . I am horrible at trying to pick out certain things with my nose however . So , I'll simply say that if you read the list of ingredients , then imagine that it smells like ALL of them quite evenly & in a most wonderful way , you'll come awful close to how the Wildmen actually smell . It's just this awesome combo of warm leathery scents , mixed with spices & patchouli with no one scent overwhelming the others . And I know I'll be buying more before the carnival ships out on us .

This is one of the first 3 bottles I ordered . And it is easily my current favorite out of the bottles & the 6 frimps that came with them . I won't write this like a normal review , as I don't feel I can do it justice . I feel I don't have the best nose for doing reviews , to be quite honest . I tend to have a lot of sinus / allergy problems through out the year . That being said , I freaking love this scent . This scent to me is empowerment . I love pine & I love the smell of the herbs in the mix . I assume the other thing I'm getting from it is the musk . All I know is I put this on & I feel like a sexual being , which for me is a rare occasion to be sure . It just really amps up my ego I guess . So , besides saying that , it is a long lasting scent with a strong throw . It is a pretty deep , dark scent . One I would recommend to most any guy who is afraid of trying such things . Not sure how it would go on a lady , but would love to find out

All righty then , I'll attempt to write one of these too This was a frmp from the lab ( thanks all ) . From the imp I get cinnamon & spice , strongly . Not a bad smell , but very strong as in " I'm getting things together to make some cookies " kind of way . Wet on skin it is still very much more cinnamon then anything else maybe some clove too . Dry now . I am getting more of a sweet smell & less spice . Still , it is hard to get the initial rush of cinnamon out of my nose . Ok then , I decided to make this my first review as it's one I do like , but am not really attached to . I do love the spicy notes , I wish I could notice the tea & sandalwood more though . Being a guy , I think I would like a more balanced smell from this for me wearing it . The next order I have coming has Othello in it , as I see it is along these lines . Maybe I'll enjoy that one more . I do think I would have no problem with my GF wearing this though . Edited about a year later ... I guess I do like this for myself , cause I bought a bottle of it As far as the labs " pirate " scents go , this has become my favorite . And yes , it's still overwhelmingly spicy more then anything . But in a really tasty , appealing kind of way . I also want to say that the spices to settle down a bit after being on a while , & the tea & other notes balance it out very well indeed .

Just wanted to thank TwilightEyes for putting all those shots of label art up . Very cool to see those as the 3 bottles I have all have pretty much the same style of print . I'm very tempted to get a bottle of all the Lovecraft line , as the thought of putting on some Herbert West or Miskatonic University makes me laugh inwardly to no end .
