The whip-wielding Goddess of Divine Retribution, Justice and Vengeance, and is the force that balances the scales of Tyche's fortune. She is also called Adrasteia, 'she whom none can escape', and Erinys, 'implacable'. Nemesis is the executrix of Olympian justice, and her primary duty is to punish hubris and mankind's offenses against the natural order with inflexible, remorseless and raging fury. Her symbols are a sword and scourge, a measuring rod and scales. Cypress, ginger, fig, dried rose, red patchouli, tonka bean and cyclamen. Woah. This is really intense wet. Very sharp and CYPRESS. Once it dries, however, the fig and the rose appear and make it much sweeter and just lovely. I don't get any ginger at all, but the tonka bean floats in the background, grounding the scent. The cypress is a bit strong, but I still love this scent. I only swiped a teeny bit on because I'm sampling other imps on other areas, but it seems like it will have pretty good staying power when I do my usual slathering. ETA: After a few hours the cypress blends even more with the fig and rose. Gorgeous, now I just have to keep myself from ordering a big bottle of it until I've tried all the other imps in my last order...

This is just such a lovely blend. I can pick out most of the notes when it's in the bottle, especially the linen. Once it goes on my skin it gets extremely creamy. This subsides after ten or fifteen minutes, and turns into this smooth sweet peppery blend that is absolutely gorgeous. This is definitely a comfort scent for me, it made me want to curl up in a fuzzy sweater, look at picture books, and listen to Joanna Newsom. I'm very glad I went ahead and got a bottle of this.

So I recieved my first order today, and as I'm carefully opening up all my imps to sniff them and decide which one I want to try on first, Hell's Belle leaps out of my hand and spills on the floor. I of course had to wipe up the oil with my wrists, and now both my room and myself smell like pepper and magnolia. In the bottle it's a little greener and sharper, but now it's all just spicy magnolia. I don't get any of the mandarin at all. Lovely, and I definitely don't mind my room smelling like this. I probably won't buy a larger bottle, but I'm glad I didn't manage to spill all of the imp.

In the bottle: green florals and slightly woodsy. Very pretty and fresh. When I first put it on, it gets spicier and sweeter for a few moments, and then the cedar jumps forward. After drying, it's mainly a musky cedar, with some very faint sweet florals in the background. I didn't get the tea at all, which made me sad. Decent staying power, but it's a bit too woodsy on me.

I'd been lusting to try this scent ever since I first read the name and description. It was the first BPAL imp I sniffed, and it was all bergamot, rosewood, and a hint of chamomile. As soon as I put it on, the rosewood lept forward. Apparently my skin loves it, because for the first hour or so it is definitely the dominant note. After a bit the florals come out and it turns into a gorgeous blend of violet (which I wasn't sure I'd like), rosewood, and chamomile. I could still smell it floating around me for the first few hours, and I could still smell it on my wrists after five, by which point it was mostly rosewood again. It's very warm soft, but not soft as in gentle. Soft as in thick velvet curtains and silk sheets soft. I love this and so does my skin.

In the bottle this is very sugar and spicy, with a hint of lemon. It warms up and gets creamier when I put it on and I get a hint of the ginger. Lovely and sensuous, but in less than an hour I can barely smell it. I checked with my friends to see if my nose had just gone numb, but apparently my skin just absorbed it. I like the scent, but not enough to reapply it as often as I'd need to to keep it around. Ah well, I'll slather the rest of the imp on when I'm feeling sexy.
