bigeyedgirl, snowy kathryn and miss apple! Congrats to all of you! I'm not getting married anytime soon either (I don't really believe marriage is something I should do but my mother says those who say so are the first ones to marry... We shall see! mother of mine who seems to be right about everything!!! ) I think Ave Maria Gratia Plena is a nice white floral to wear at a wedding.

Figs and Fig Scents - alone and in combos
thespring replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
Everyone, thanks for the posts! Thank you for taking the time to respond to my silly fig fascination All of your ideas have been very helpful! -
A potent, enticing love formula, favored among Louisiana courtesans. It starts very herbal and almondy for me, not good. the herbyness slowly becomes more floral and I think it's mainly rose. Almond (or cherry, I have a hard time telling the difference sometimes) is still there but more and more in the background. It has become very soapy in the drydown. Powdery, soft rosey soap with maybe a little bit of musk too. It's really quite nice but just a little too rosey for me.

I love fig scents and I can't think why, but I haven't actually tried any BP's with fig in them . I searched and was given 8 results: Dragon's Heart Intruige Mata Hari Nephilim The Apothocary Carnal Cerberus Nemesis Which one, do you fine people think, is more figgy? Or if not for the fig, which one do you like best? And why? -
Starts as sweet lemon and dies as light sweet tea. I think the leather adds a touch of soft roundness to the otherwise sharp lemon. The leather is quite faint to my nose though. The Earl Gray is so nice here, it's like very good quality leaves but dry, not ready to sip just yet I'd say this is probably the best tea scent I've ever tried. I layer this with other BP beauties a lot and it adds a nice touch. I really wouldn't say this was only for a man, I'm a girl and I love it On a man I think this would be yummy sexy grrrr.

I'm not a rose fan but this is nice. I spent my childhood in London and this one does remind me of of it. I think I like it despite my dislike of roses because it's soft, light, clean and crisp. No heavy rose here. Delicate and innocent, a good girl rose.

Very very nice mmmmm.... On me there isnt much of the initial orange left. Im left with incensey florals. I wouldnt describe it as a clean smell. I can almost smell heat from this one not because its a warm scent but it just makes me think of humid, hot, exotic places. I also get some pineapple too, and some kind of hay note that I cant really describe, its very nice actually. I would agree more with the fact that it smells like Angel compared to Rush. But this is far better than either. Very beautifully blended

I get spicey strawberries and oranges with icing sugar dusted over them, powder and something that deepens it a little, something herbal but I cant tell what it is. There definitely is a bubblegumyness to it but I got that more in Forbidden Fruit. It's not heavy and quite pleasant

I guess the wateriest watery is Danube. I love Water of Notre Dame personally, but you might find it a little perfumey, not sure. Second on Neo Tokyo.
-
Actually Im not very good with aquatics but my darling bf lives in Vienna and I miss him..... EDITED:Not anymore we broke up... Still feel the same about dear old Danube Anyway, its cool strong florals with some citrus. When I wear it however, there is something sort of creamy coming out along with the aquatic. I know its crazy but thats what happens on me really! How can this be?! Its nice but nothing unusual.
-
I got the notes all at once and eventually it was more orange but still all three notes stayed till the end. Anyway, initially I do find it a bit too artificial plasticy smelling. Probably because its very sweet. But its nice, summery and young. Perhaps a little too sweet for me though.
-
Its LOVE! at first sniff!! I normally don't like cloves very much but this is so nice. Almost boozy in a way and yet also a foody-bakery scent too. There is a touch of plactic here too like play-doh perhaps as has been mentioned before but thats fine by me on this one. Sweet, spicey, dreamy, creamy apricots! Yeeey!

I guess Im crazy but in the vial, its nailpolish to my nose... Later on me, its extremely dark chocolate, cheeeeerrrrry and finally orange blossom. It sort of smells dirty. And the cherry gives it a little bit of a bitter almond scent. The only chocolate for me is Bliss. This just didnt work on me very well , just like Velvet... Not bad tho!
-
Different. Powdery, jasmine, very little lemon, something I cant put my finger on probably civet. Use sparingly. Nice.

Hmmmm, too rich for my liking. I dont really get the wine or chocolate notes that lots of people have been getting . I get honey, mixture of rich floarls and sometimes balsam. It starts very golden and bright, very nice but the drydown is too perfumey and sweet floral for me. Wish I could get more chocolate and wine...
-
I realize that some people will think that I should burn for all eternity for saying this but... It just smells too sweet and that is all I get. SWEET honey with a bit of amber. I tried this over and over but its just not me. My nose almost hurts from this one, thats how sweet it smells to me. And there is an almost plastic note I get from this that makes it utterly unsexy for me. Sorry...
-
I wanted to like this, really I tried but it was not to be... From start to finish all I get is bubblegum bubblegum bubblegum This could be good on someone who likes very sweet scents or on someone very young.
-
On me its a very buttery, very sweet chocolate. I layer this with so many things. Especially very good layered with Severin, March Hare and Dragon's Bone. Completely delicious. I personally think its extremely foody. I want to eat it out of the bottle! Its very potent, a little does go a very long way. Too much, can end up being to much of a good thing...
-
From the vial, so strong that I put it away and didn't come back to it till much later... When I finally gathered my courage to give it a try, it was not as terrifying as I thought it might be. On me, its mostly cinnamon. I love the Dragon's Blood and even the Vetiver calms it down nicely but the spices are unfortunately too strong for me. But I can see that this can be very nice with other body chemistries
-
In the beginning all I get are Cloves and Almonds.. Much too strong though. I don't find it as boozy as some others have found it but the rum is definitely there, way in the back though. Also I dont find it buttery at all, on me its more crisp in fact. It's a nice one, but the cloves are too strong for my liking... ****Update**** This has changed for me. I get more of the rum and spice. More boozy definitely. I also get a strong citrus in the final stages of wetness. The strong clove is still there on the drydown though. Would be nicer on a man probably. Funny how skin chemistry changes

I don't know why I didn't discover this before! To me, this is pure sexy. This is my idea of sexy I'm just going to go on the "on me" part coz the rest has been covered extensively. On me, its sugared edible voilets, (y'know like candied voilets) incensey, initially sharp and way too sweet but the drydown is more vanilla and gardenia added to the beautiful voilets that thankfully do not disappear I keep trying to deny the fact that I simply like dark scents and try to appreciate lighter ones (Mind you I have) but the truth is I'm just a dark girl who likes dark things... The scorpio thing... One tries to be a softer version of self but cannot deny ones nature... Amazing scent, there are no words to thank you enough for making this!
-
Very strong, a little does go a really long way... It's just one of those scents that if you don't like heavy scents, you'll simply hate it and vice versa. Some people who smell it on me say its amazing and some people say I stink... sigh... Many people say this is a sexy scent and I do tend to agree but its sexy in a conventional sense. I mean the term sexy means very different things to very different people. Try it though, I adore it, on me its very incensy, dark sweet vanilla.
-
Initially I get lemon a lot and a kind of juicyness. Later it becomes more floral and finally ends up lightly musky, powdery and floral. It has a stage, as it has first dried down, when its really nasty old lady but the beginning and end are lovely. I really like it. Comforting and quiet. But why doesnt it stay longer?
-
Sooo wonderful Centering and calming. I need a lot of calming things around me... Soft and beautiful. I dont think this is what I would call a green scent either, more floral water. I'm not going to say aquatic because that makes me think of something like Danube for intance and this is not like that. This is more powdery on the drydown. Adore!

I have no idea why but this one puts a smile on my face. It just makes me happy! On me it smelles lightly sweet, orris first and sandalwood coming second. I agree that its a bit "perfumey" but there is definitely something salty and a little peppery here that prevents it from becoming uninteresting. Wearing this makes me feel calm, collected, sexy and confident. Its very smooth and dry, almost like running your hand down a newly sanded down blondewood log. just edited idiot spelling mistake
