YUCK! Reminds me of Lear - wood chips and pencil shavings.

In the Bottle Yummy! The snake oil is really coming out in this blend. I’m also getting a hint of lily and a hint of lavender. I hope it smells this good once I apply it! On My Skin This is a lovely floral version of snake oil so far. It’s primarily snake oil but not as spicy, it’s got a more delicate, soft feel too it. Right now I’m not getting a lot of Dorian from this blend. After a Bit Four hours later and this is faint, but I can still smell it. It hasn’t changed too much since first applying it. The only difference is Dorian can now be detected slightly. The snake oil, Dorian, vanilla and lavender make this scent an instant favorite for me. Rating 1-5 Scent - 4.5 Throw - 3 Longevity – 3.5 Overall (not an average) – 4.3 Final thoughts I’m going to need to pick up another bottle of this before it’s gone for good. This is probably the newest addition to my top 10 scents.

In the Bottle Bitter chocolate and rum. On My Skin This has a little bit of a spicy kick to it. I’m still getting the chocolate, rum, now the wine is coming through a touch, but instead of blood I’m smelling cinnamon. After a Bit I got a little bit on my sleave when I was applying this. The scent on my wrist became much lighter and developed a sweet powdery scent. However the bit on my sleave smells like wonderful boozy, chocolate with cinnamon and is still going strong 10 hours later. Wonderful! Rating 1-5 Scent - 4 Throw - 3.5 Longevity – 4.5 Overall (not an average) – 4 Final thoughts I really like this blend, it’s sexy, spicy and lasts a long time. Bottle worthy? Yes.

In the Bottle On first sniff I’m struck by how powerful the maple scent is. The mollasas is also strong, but I have to really sniff to pick out the apples and the wood. On My Skin Smells like maple oatmeal on me. It’s harder to pick out the individual notes now that it’s on my skin. The dominant notes are maple and molasses. After a Bit Um, strange, but this evolved into a smoky, maple, scent that had a touch of incense. Rating 1-5 Scent - 1.5 Throw - 3 Longevity – 3 Overall (not an average) – 1.8 Final thoughts Interesting scent, but not something I’d like to smell like. It’s going in my swap pile.

In the Bottle Sandalwood and rose. My chemistry tends to amp rose, so I’m a little worried about this blend keeping balanced once I apply it. On My Skin Now I can smell the cocoa leaves and other florals. The rose isn’t super strong so that’s good for me. I’m also getting just a hint of the frankincense. So far I’m really enjoying this, hopefully it stays complex and doesn’t turn into a single note rose on me. After a Bit Thankfully the rose didn’t take over the blend, it just evolved into a sweet floral fragrance. Rating 1-5 Scent - 3 Throw - 2 Longevity – 3 Overall (not an average) – 2.8 Final thoughts I like this blend enough to keep the imp, but I don’t see a bottle in my future. Instead of buying all the bottles I like (and winding up poor) I’m only buying bottles I love. This is good, but it’s not a wow scent for me.

In the Bottle I’m not a huge fan of the pine or evergreen blends so this should be interesting. In the imp I’m smelling a whole lotta pine and maybe a bit of cypress, so far I’m not a fan. On My Skin I’m getting a touch of berries now but it’s still mostly pine. Fortunately the woodsy scent has calmed down a little bit and is no longer as overpowering as it was immediately after application. After a Bit This is the most suprising BPAL oil I think I’ve ever tried. I love this blend! It smells very clean and fresh with the pine and the berry and all traces of the cleaning product smell have vanished. This is beautiful. Rating 1-5 Scent - 4 Throw - 2 Longevity – 3 Overall (not an average) – 3.8 Final thoughts I’m going to have to test this one again just to make sure this wasn’t a fluke, but I really like the way this smells. If I get the same result next time I just might have to pick up a bottle.

Amorphallus, indeed. A breathtakingly exotic, wild, and grossly erotic spicy gold, purple-black, and burgundy lily. In the Bottle For a second I wondered if my imp was mislabeled. I immediately smelled citrus with a bit of sandalwood. So far this smells nothing like a lily. On My Skin Now I’m getting a foody citrus vibe with a bit of spice. I’m really surprised at the foody element. I wasn’t expecting that at all! After a Bit After a bit the citrus/foody element goes away and I’m left with a spicy lily scent. It’s a lovely oil but is fading fast. About 3 hours later and it’s mostly gone. Rating 1-5 Scent - 3 Throw - 3 Longevity – 2 Overall (not an average) – 2.8 Final thoughts It’s a nice blend and I’ll use the imp, but I don’t think I’d get a bottle of this. There are too many other floral/lily scents that I prefer. Edited to add scent description

In the Bottle Violets with a bit of spice in the background, probably the clove and incense. I’m not getting any tonka just yet. On My Skin Once I apply this the tonka comes out and now the blend is primarily violets and tonka. The clove and incents are in the background which gives this blend a weird vibe. It smells like I’ve layered a creamy floral over a hippy spice and it’s just not quite coming together. After a Bit Four and a half hours later and I can still smell the blend fairly well. The spice has died down and now it’s mainly violets and tonka, with the tonka being the dominant portion. Since tonka is one of my favorite notes it’s not surprise that I really like this oil. Rating 1-5 Scent - 4 Throw - 3.5 Longevity – 4 Overall (not an average) – 3.8 Final thoughts Bottle worthy? Yes, eventually. I like this blend quite a bit. It’s blended well, creamy, has a decent throw, lasts long and is one that I would feel comfortable wearing to work or on the train commuting to school/work without worrying about offending other people. Very nice

In the Bottle Primarily I’m getting the cherry blossom smell, the sandalwood is there too, but faintly. I’ve never found a blend that I like anise in, but there’s a first time for everything, right? On My Skin Very delicate, very feminine, it doesn’t smell like perfume at all. I’m getting a creamy cherry/sandalwood smell from this but the anise is starting to come through and I’m not liking what it’s doing so far. After a Bit After about 20 minutes the anise went away completely thank God! A couple of hours later I was left with a light, wonderful blend of cherry and sandalwood. It went a bit powdery on me, but not too much. Rating 1-5 Scent - 4 Throw - 2 Longevity – 5 Overall (not an average) – 3.5 Final thoughts This was a big surprise for me. I didn’t think I’d like it and it turned out beautifully on me. It’s a scent that I would wear to work because it doesn’t have a ton of throw, lasts for several hours (one of the longest lasting oils I’ve tried) and it’s an ‘in your face scent’. I think I need a bottle of this!

In the bottle Pepper and lots of it! On My Skin Ah, there’s the lily! It’s almost like the lily and pepper are in a cage fight duking it out for which one will be the dominant scent. Ginger is in the back corner yawning. About 45 seconds after I put this on I need to hold my wrist up to my nose to smell it properly. After a bit The lily and pepper have now found a peaceful co-existence that smells beautiful. It’s floral but the spice keeps it interesting and adds complexity to this blend. I really like what it’s doing. Rating 1-5 Scent - 3.5 Throw - 1 Longevity – 1.5 Over all (not an average) - 2 Final thoughts I like this blend but it’s so faint that I have to sniff my wrist to smell it. It also is gone about two and a half hours later. If this was a tad bit stronger and longer lasting I’d pick up a bottle. I think I’ll keep the imp though.

In the Bottle It smells spicy and masculine. I’m getting the bay rum, tobacco, brimstone and just a tiny hint of vanilla. I’m worried this might end up being too masculine for me. On My Skin The bay rum note is taking center stage with a spicy tobacco rounding things off. It’s smells almost like an expensive aftershave with a sharp note right at the end of the scent. After a Bit The vanilla has started to come out a bit and make this less of a masculine scent. It’s still spicy and has a lot of rum, tobacco and brimstone, but I could see a woman wearing this blend. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 3.5 Throw – 3 Longevity – 3 Over all – 3.3 Final Thoughts I like it but don’t love it. I think aging will work wonders on it, so I’ll keep it and try it again in a couple of months.

In the Bottle I can pick out the individual notes of musk, carnation and sandalwood but it also smells like there may be a touch of tonka in this blend too. On My Skin At this stage I’m getting a very dry musk with a bit of spice. A lot of reviews have used the word creamy, but I’m not getting that at all. This smells more like spices in a Market on a hot dry day in Morocco to me. After a Bit About 6 hours into the scent and it's still going strong. Now I'm getting the creamy spice scent that I keep reading so much about. It's blended beautifuly and not overwhelming at all. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 4 Throw – 3 Longevity – 4 Over all – 3.8 Final Thoughts I'd like to pick up a bottle of this. It think it would be nice to wear year round and is very versatile. I could wear this to work, out to dinner, when I want a little pick me up or when I want to feel sexy. Morocco is wonderful.

In the Bottle This is my first time trying any of the dragon scents so I’m not sure what toexpect, or what it typically smells like. On first sniff I’m getting a lot of lily of the valley. It’s not a typical floral or sweet smell, it’s got more depth to it. On My Skin Now that it’s on my skin I’m getting a hint of the lilac. I’m having a hard time deciding what exactly dragon’s blood is supposed to smell like. Right now it seems like a richer, deeper, lily of the valley smell with a touch of lilac and a little bit of spice. But that’s about it. I’m wondering if the dragon’s blood is the spice scent I keep catching a whiff of. After a Bit This is beautiful. I even got sniffed by the SO and the response was, “That scent is beautiful.” Wow. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 4.5 Throw – 3 Longevity – 2 Over all (not an average)– 4 Final Thoughts I really like this scent. The fact that the SO likes it too seals the deal- I need to get a bottle. It’s very understated and very classy smelling. I need to try out some more scents with dragon’s blood.

In the Bottle Smells like teh sex with a little bit of a floral background. I can’t wait to give it a try! On My Skin Okay, this is wonderful! The myrrh, patchouli, musk and a bit of honey are the dominant notes right now. I thought this might be a bit overwhelming since it contains so many notes that seem ‘heavy’ or seem to amp on my skin, but it’s not. So far this is uber sexy. After a Bit This isn’t a very strong smell but it’s really sexy. It smells similar to the wet stage except it’s acquired a tiny bit of a powder scent. Despite that I still really like this one. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 4 Throw – 3 Longevity – 3 Over all (not an average) – 4 Final Thoughts I’d love to pick up a bottle of this, every time I catch a sniff it makes me love this scent more and more.

In the Bottle It smells exactly like the description. This smell reminds me exactly of how it smells inside the catacombs in Egypt plus some wine in the background. It really is a dry almost decaying scent plus the wine. I’m shocked the description is so dead on. On My Skin It hasent’ really changed much from the imp. I’m still getting the ‘somebody spilled wine on the ground inside a tomb or cave’ smell. After a Bit 30 minutes later my SO came upstairs to tell me that the scent had carried all the way into the basement. It still hasn’t changed much. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 2 Throw – 5 Longevity – ? Washed it off Over all – 2 Final Thoughts While I’m impressed that Beth was able to create such an awesome scent, I’m pretty sure I’d never want to smell like this. I had to wash it off. I’m not a fan of super strong throw and this blend was overwhelming to me. I’m sure other folks will love this, but it just isn’t for me.
-
In the Bottle There’s the sharp scent of tobacco leaf and a bit of boozy rum. It’s a powerful scent. On My Skin The tobacco and bay rum are blending together in a suprisingly mellow way with a bit more tobacco than rum. I’m getting just a touch of floral in the background giving it a sweet but not too sweet smell. So far this is a potent blend but yet it isn’t overpowering. I’m hoping a touch more of the rum comes out, that would make this lovely! After a Bit An hour and a half later and I love what this has done on my skin. Now the blend is prodominently rum mixed with florals and just a hint of tobacco in the background. This has a deep musky scent to it, but works together wonderfully. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 3.8 Throw – 4 Longevity – 4 Over all – 3.9 Final Thoughts I like this blend quite a bit, I think it would be good to wear on hot summer days or even in the fall. Since it’s a GC bottle I probably won’t pick one up right now but I will in the future when I get some more money.
-
In the Bottle Pear and lily of the valley are the dominant scents right now but they are mixing together quite well. It’s a very sweet blend. On My Skin My chemistry is working to keep this scent from being overly sweet, right now it’s still primarily pear and lily. I like it better on my skin than in the bottle because it smells more natural and less like a perfume. After a Bit This reminds me of a perfume by Victoria’s Secret. I think it was called Pear Glaze or something like that. It’s a nice light pear scent with a floral background. It’s beautiful, but not ‘me’. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 2.5 Throw – 3 Longevity – 2 Over all – 2.8’ish Final Thoughts Smells great, but just isn’t me.
-
In the Bottle Given the description I'm suprised to say that this smells really sweet in the imp. It smells almost floral. On My Skin So far this is lovely! It smells very fresh, clean and crisp with the sweet smell lingering in the background making this to die for! This does remind me of fragrant autumn leaves. After a Bit It isn’t as potent as it was a couple of hours ago and is slowly fading away, but it still smells wonderful. The scent of leaves is more dominant and I’m getting just a whiff of bonfire but the blend is still pretty creamy. Strange, but awesome! Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 4.5 Throw – 4 Longevity – 4 Over all – 4 Final Thoughts This blend has great throw and will last around 8 hours on my skin, it’s also one of the most interesting oils I’ve ever used. This is one that I'd get 2 bottles of.

In the Bottle In the imp all three notes are present and accounted for. I like each of them individually but I’m not sure I like how they smell together. On My Skin Lemony rose. Apple is nowhere to be found. My chemistry seems to love making rose into a scent I associate with older women *cough* old lady smell *cough*. This time is no exception. I’ll give it a bit longer to see if anything more interesting than lemony rose comes out of this blend. After a Bit Still lemony rose. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 1.5 Throw – 3 Longevity – 4 Over all – 2 Final Thoughts This isn’t going to be a bottle purchase for me. It would be beautiful on somebody else but rose and I just don’t get along.

In the Bottle I’m getting a heavy neroli vibe from this but it’s such a light smell reminds me of spring time. On My Skin Now the sandalwood and ylang ylang are coming through. This is a very happy, spring time scent to me which is funny because from the description I wouldn’t have thought that at all. It’s an orange/floral blend, not too bad actually. After a Bit This has turned into a seamless blend and while neroli is slightly dominant the other notes are discernable as well. This is a very clean scent that is perfect for spring time, wearing at work or a nice pick me up blend. I’m still suprised at how far off the description and the scent feeling are in my mind. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 3.5 Throw – 3 Longevity – 3 Over all – 3.3 Final Thoughts I like this blend, but I’m not sure I like it enough to buy it. I’m still farily new to BPAL so I’m going to see if there’s somthing in this scent category I perfer before I purchase a bottle.

In the Bottle This is interesting because I don’t know what all of the notes in this blend are supposed to smell like. When I open the imp I am getting a heavy floral fragrance. The rose is the one dominant scent that I can actually pick out. On My Skin This reminds me of walking into a flower shop and just being overwhelmed by all of the different floral scents, but it works here because the throw isn’t overpowering. The rose has calmed down and is now indiscernable in the mix of all the notes. I think I’m starting to like this. After a Bit Two hours later and it’s still going strong. It hasn’t changed much from it’s initial application. It’s still a complex floral blend. I think I’m having a hard time with this because I can’t identify any of the notes with the exception of rose. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 2.5 Throw – 3 Longevity – 3 Over all – 2.8’ish Final Thoughts It’s a wonderful floral blend, but not something that ‘wows’ me. There are other florals I prefer so I’m not going to go searching for a bottle anytime soon.
-
In the Bottle The pine is really strong in the imp, but it’s a sweet pine scent rather the pine smell you get out of comerical cleansing products. I think that’s the ambergris. My chemistry and pine usually make me smell like I slept in a janitors closet so we’ll see how this one goes. On My Skin Thankfully the pine isn’t dominating the other notes in the blend. The pine seems to be doing well with the ambergris and there’s a bit of juniper in the background too. I’m not getting any musk or cypress yet. After a Bit An hour and a half later and the ambergris is in full retreat. The pine and juniper are running the show now. While it’s still not a cleaning product scent it certainly isn’t as compelling as when the sweeter element was there. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 2.5 Throw – 3 Longevity – 4 Over all – 2.5 Final Thoughts This is probably my favorite pine blend so far from BPAL, it’s too bad that the scent didn’t stay the same it was the first 30 minutes after application. It’s something that I’d consider when going out during the holiday season, but I wouldn’t wear it often. I’ll keep the imp, but don’t think I need a big bottle.
-
In the Bottle Floral. It’s not a sweet floral, it’s a dry almost bitter floral. On My Skin It’s still a floral but now I’m getting a little bit of a citrus hint. This is a very clean, fresh smelling oil. In the background if I sniff my wrist I’m also getting a woodsy type smell. It sounds strange, but so far it smells pretty good. After a Bit After about an hour an and half the intensity of the smell has died down. It’s still a very clean, refreshing floral smell with a tiny bit of wood to keep it from being a sweet smell. It’s pretty faint at this point but is still lovely. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 4 Throw – 2 Longevity – 3.5 (lasted about 5 hours) Over all – 3.5 Final Thoughts I really like the smell of this when first applied, it’s really lovely. As for it’s magical abilities I can’t really vouch for those, I’ve been home alone working on my homework and checking out some of my favorite internet sites. I’d love to try this on a day where I’ve got a lot going on at work and school. But even if it doesn’t help out with wealth and prestige, I still adore the scent.

In the Bottle Yum! The way the almond and the vanilla play off one another it smells like marzipan cake. On My Skin The almond is taking the lead in this blend, the vanilla is there and there’s just a hint of frankincense in the background. The vanilla is making the almond almost creamy. I really like foody blends so this is a winner so far. After a Bit The almond is starting to share the spotlight with the vanilla. Heliotrope is adding a sweet/floral note and the cinnamon is adding just enough kick to keep this from being boring. I’m not getting any frankincense, but that’s okay this blend is just about perfect just as it is. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 4.5 Throw – 2 Longevity – 2 Over all – 4.5 Final Thoughts I love the way this scent works on me. It makes me feel sexy and confident. The throw is pretty mild which means I could probably get away with wearing this one at work. Staying power isn’t the greatest, after about 3 hours it’s faded a great deal, I can still smell it, but very faintly. Despite the throw and longevity issues I think I need a bottle of this. It’s just that good.

In the Bottle This smell reminds me of something that I can’t put my finger on. Wait – I think it smells like a face cream my aunt used to use. Oil of Olay, maybe? I can also smell violets in this blend. On My Skin Hmmm....I’m getting a distinct laundry detergent vibe from this one. So this was suposed to be a chilly blend but I’m getting more of a spring time vibe with the violet/floral scent. How strange. After a Bit An hour and a half later and the smell has faded pretty quickly. This hasn’t changed much from when I initially put it on, it’s still violet scented face cream. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) Scent – 2 Throw – 2 Longevity – 2 Over all – 2 Final Thoughts It smells like an older lady walking down the laundry detergent isle at a grocery store. Not for me at all. Off to the swaps pile this goes. Hopefully I can find it a loving home.
