maybe I was made for scents like sandalwood and myrrh? I loved the smell of this in the imp and love it even more on the skin. I guess it must be the iris that lifts the oil from being too heavy. It does smell perfumey and big definately not light and girlie. I'd definately adopt this as a signature scent.

In the bottle it smells of herbal cough sweets, those in the uk should know what I mean but with an added metalic tang, that's an odd one, I imagine that's the 'dirt' ? On the skin that metalic note thankfully vanishes and leaves me with sweet herbal spicey notes. It pretty much stays the same after it dries on the skin for me the dominant note is the cardomin. A warm comforting scent.

went rooting through my imps and dug this out. Leather leather and yet more leather. Wet & Dry Love this and can't stop sniffing myself, I can't say that it's particularly masculine on me as the scent stays true on my skin.

sublte soft musky scent with a tang giving it a little bite. This is a perfect daytime scent as it's not too overpowering.

in the bottle this smells a little sharp and nothing at all like how it develops on the skin, that's when it comes alive. This is a delicious warm brown sugar vanilla with a hint of something perfumed. Not overly foody just warm and comforting. I've had 3 compliments today - no wonder it's a popular scent.

In the bottle, smoky sweet warm orange. I sniff deeply and I can detect fir but not if I hadn't have known it was there. And yes as someone suggested chocolate orange? Wet & dry it stays close the bottle. I love this blend, sometimes I smell the orange more, sometimes tobacco it's hard to pick one dominant scent. I love this.

I've gone to reapply this only to find moments later the imp cap has broke and is now seeping over my desk. I've mopped it up and run it through my hair so I'm well smelly right now Ok. In the bottle I'm getting fresh/floral/aquatic and yes calming. reading the reviews when I read, violets, I said YES! especially the pale purple sweets we used to have as kids (parma violets) when I read clover I said YES! I get those notes to. As it settles I'm getting a hint of those and after a while freshly cut grass but don't take my word it could be the clover association throwing my nose. Definately a big bottle oil for summer.

First sniff lemons! so I can't imagine why it would be a gentlemans fragrance, I always think of zesty fruits as feminine. Anyway, wet, more lemons but not overly sharp, the musk and lilac must bring it down. Dry, lemons, however it soons dies off and you're left with a fresh light musky scent with a hint of fruit. I think this would make a nice summer fragrance. Lemons for their refreshing qualities, musk to keep it cheeky.

gorgeous. I got this as a freebie imp and from the name I guessed it to be a 'masculine' scent well, it is, sort of... I would put it as more neutral but I guess it depends on your chemistry whether it turns more 'manly' First sniff and I get smoky/eastern scents, it's one of those I have to keep sniffing because it's addictive. On I get deep musky but sweeted - I guess this is neroli/bergamot peeking through. It lasted well, I went to bed sniffing my arm and could still smell this by morning.

I was intrigued by this one so added it to my list. First sniff 'urgh'!! this smells strange, sharp, alcholic? metallic like mmc said but I have to sniff again, I'm both repulsed and drawn by it I can smell the rose underneath but whatever it is that gives it the sharpness is putting me off. On. Funnily enough of the six new oils I got this was the one I wanted to try first and see what happened with it on my skin. It smells the same wet and dry on me as it does in the bottle but with the rose coming through stronger now. I'm going to give it another try. I find it beguiling because there is something I like in this. A confusing oil.

blurgh in the bottle I don't like it - I can't make out what it is but I don't like it but I do trust the BPAL scents to develop and this sure does. It has a lovely soft sandalwood truly Velvet - I guess the vanilla & cocoa do their job so it isn't just sandalwood that comes out but they don't jump out at you either. Lovely, soft and just like it's name, Velvet.

this is daft for some reason I think of old leather sandals?? what is that all about? I love this scent perhaps because it reminds me of sandalwood/spice blend I sometimes make at home. In the bottle you get a kick of somthing alcoholic and light spice. Wet on skin, warm sweet spice and the sandalwood creeps in. Dry an even balance of spice & sandalwood, on me no one scent jumps out. This is not as overpowering and heady as something like Queen MAB, it is much more subtle. I ordered a 10ml of this. yum

he's right you know, it's a few years since I took my aromatherapy course but the list of oils with a big 'ole *caution* next to them is quite long. You really should contact Beth - we don't have a whole ingredient list to the oils. As for gardenia not being scent harvested, tell that to the whole tiare monoi oil industry.

I'm re-sniffing my arm because I can't make it out. In the bottle I first think it reminds me of store bought brands like calvin klein Truth and that blue one from Kenzo as all those scents to me say 'Fresh'. Re-sniffing I get lemons, musk and something I can't figure out. Now re-reading the ingredients it makes sense it's a the green tea and aloe that throws and yet makes it. They are scents that I have round me but in the mix confuse my nose Wet when first applied I think I smell like lemon disinfectant but from my quick acquaintance with BPAL and regular perfumes - never trust a perfume when it's wet, it needs time to settle. Dry - it reminds me of what I smelt in bottle, lemons, musk and something confusing.

Bottle. Even floral smell and I can't make out what it is and their is something berry-like about it. Nice Wet. Smoky VERY smoky. This made me wonder if i'd like it. Dry. After a few minutes the smokiness fades in to something warm and floral, not light floral but something rich and sensual. Makes me want to curl up somewhere comfortable or should that be with someone.
