As someone who loathes aquatics, I really must pimp Danube. Very nice.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

oh dear! That's pretty scary. I just adore orris scents (except for Florence ), and I feel compelled to share the love. -
Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils
darklorelei replied to friendthegirl's topic in BPAL FAQs
It's worth noting that iris in perfume is from the root, not the flower, so if it's a pollen/scent issue there, the orris blends might be ok, although I'd certainly understand your reluctance. -
Oil recommendations for studying, learning, exams
darklorelei replied to summer's topic in Recommendations
If you wear a scent to study, be sure to wear the same scent during the exam! It's that weird conditional memory thing. -
Morella is absolutely LOVELY, and available until Monday. It's not real heavy on the civet (that I can notice, anyways), but it really adds a lot of depth to the scent.

Aizen-Myoo wasn't grapefruity at all to me. It was a bit candy like to me. But it is citrus on many people. However, I should think that it wouldn't have the tart/bitter scent of grapefruit that you'd be looking for. But! I completely forgot. It's a different sort of feel, but right now, my favorite grapefruit scent is Megaera. Very, very good. And to address your actual possible objection to BS, it's not foody at all. Definitely floral and grapefruit. But a white sort of grapefruit, not sweet at all.

Baobhan Sith! It's NOTHING like the ginger in Siren. I'm a ginger fiend, and I hated Siren. I also really like grapefruit. I highly recommend Baobhan Sith. I can't really recommend Phobos, but I have huge musk issues. Another one to try is R'yleh, normally described as evil grapefruit.

Yep! Almond's where they get the flavouring for maraschino cherries. Well, used to.
-
I don't know when they'll get back to you, but they definitely will. The user Penance has severe almond problems, and I know she got a list from the lab, if you are just looking on that front. Almond is definitely the lab's most common nut note. eta: you can always check reviews; people often mention cherry when they think of almond, as well.

For me (but probably, like, no one else), Sudha Segara smells exactly the way red clover nectar (like when you pull out the florets and suck them) tastes.

Those are all LEs from this Yule. Check the review section of the forum!

You guys should download Nattie's bpal excel file if you can. You can use excel's find function to find what you're looking for. Think about the three letter thing in realistic terms. We'll use the word "rum". You know what these are? Forums. You'd easily be looking through just as many results. Sure, you could limit it, but people forget a lot.

It's a very different feel, but I like scents like Psyche and Eve. Very comforting. They don't induce sleep, but I definitely feel like I'm in a hug and fall right to sleep. Aromatherapeutically speaking, lavendar and jasmine are the scents that induce sleepiness most, according to most studies. Shame I hate them both!

Adorable! I'm...a little scared of the label of Monster in my Panties, particularly if it's similarly styled.
-
if you hit ctrl+f, you can search the document for words! I'd help more, but a lot of things smell like cherries to me, and they really shouldn't. (Exhibit A: oakmoss. O_o)

Baron Samedi is solid almond, iirc from others. I seem to recall the Hecate was pegged as an almondy one, as well. I highly recommend downloading Nattie's bpal Excel file and searching for the notes you're looking for!

Carnal seems a little hippy-esque for a rock show, imo.

Yeah, Aizen-Myoo would be perfect for what I was thinking.
-
I'd go for something bright and loud, to cut the smoke a bit, maybe citrus?

Scents for Depression - when you're down and need a boost

Moooooxie! For courage, natch. And happy. -
Do Bathsheba! It's very carnation-y, but has a really nice rich plum note, but the carnation keeps it from being too sweet.

No, it's not, as a Russian student. it's a long ooo. OOO-tre-nya-ya. It's like...a the ~ over the n in Spanish, or gn in Italian. Utro means morning in Russian. The Yoo sound, like in our word Ukraine is a different letter in Russian (although in Russian, the Ukraine is spellt with a plain oo.) For Vechernyaya, the first syllable is closer to Vyaych. Like, yay/hey. Vecher is Evening. And Zorya is Zohrya, which means star. In Russian there're 10 vowels. ah/ya, eh/yeh, ui/eee, oh/yoh, and oo/yoo.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

What I'm most sensitive to in traditional perfumes is the alcohol. Makes me sneeze. Most artificial light florals, do it , too. I'd stay away from the really floral scents (not rose, but the white florals, etc), because I bet that's what it was in Goneril. -
Could it be because there are multiple spreadsheets in the file? (Please note, I'm unfamiliar with Works)

R'yleh? (in re: Lobster) There's not much of description from bpal but the general opinion is "evil grapefruit"
