    Bluebeard

Cold, masculine, and almost suffocating. I admit I'm not hot on violets, which smell like cleaning fluid to my nose, and that's the main reason why I'm not liking this blend. The sharpness of the lavender and vetiver, untempered by the white musk (which I like! why can't I detect it here??) makes this an almost painful blend to smell. Very much captures the concept of Bluebeard, though

Chaos Theory II : The Butterfly Effect

Chaos Theory II XXXVI (36) This starts off as a fresh fruity green/floral--a fruit garden in springtime! It's reminiscent of The Hanging Gardens, but with more greenery and less intensity/sharpness (it went sharp on me... ). It's bright and dewy and warm The florals are barely there and don't go sharp or soapy at all (nearly all florals do that with me) As it dries down, I notice plum and...FIG!!! A garden of FIGS!! I LOVE figs! and the blend isn't super-sweet either (I usually dislike fruit blends as they tend to be too sweet for me) I think this blend would have been more aptly named Beltane than the actual Beltane oil Just my humble opinion... Chaos Theory II : The Butterfly Effect

Chaos Theory II C (100) Alright, when I saw the number on the bottle I went into "I gotta goollllllllllden ticcccccccckkket!" mode. Thank goodness the juice inside lived up to its golden number! In the bottle, this smells like buttercream (not as heavily buttery as the stuff in Jack or Chaste Moon, though) and something sweet and golden and fruity--golden apples! On my skin, this turned into sweet cream, vanilla, and bucketloads of baked golden apples sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar!! It's reminiscent of The Hesperides but with more of a "baked apple" quality than a "crisp apple" one. As the scent dries down, my skin smells of cinnamon-sugar baked apples over a dollop of vanilla ice cream. YUM!!

    Butch yet not manly scents?

    King of Clubs...

    Swank

Slinky and lighthearted; nearly candy-sweet but just-tart-enough. The alcohol is bubbly and sly and tosses you a wink between clinking glasses. This is a scent of elegant laughter and endless refills, light on the alcohol but curiously seductive.. This would make a great room scent, and might necessitate a bottle

    King of Clubs

I nearly didn't get the king at all, as it just sounded to me like an earthy mishmosh I really like some earthy scents, but most smell very similar to to me, and since I had a budget, I very nearly got 4 CT2s instead of 3 CT2s and the King. Lordy lord I am SO glad I got the King! In the bottle, King of Clubs smells like earth and almonds and a drop of fig--unique! On my skin, the fig comes out a bit more--it's a very dark, earthy fig, not very sweet, but juicy. The almond scent is *very* subtle on my skin, which is great, because even though I'm fine with almonds, they seem to lend blends a certain...generic quality? I love what the musk does with the fig and vetivert. It keeps the blend warm and sincredibly sensual, like soft skin or fur. There is a light smokiness here that weaves through the other notes but that is not at all ashy. I just love how the vetivert is behaving itself The fig is keeping the blend from becoming too dark and dry...lord I'm loving this... The amber and leather come out at the later stages. Like in the Queen, the amber in King of Clubs gives the blend a warm glow (the leather seems to blend in with the amber note; the amber note in the King is thus slightly deeper and darker than in the Queen) I love how the King of Clubs manages to perfectly encapsulate earthy, sensual masculinity while remaining perfectly wearable for women I simply cannot decide which I love more--the King or Queen of Clubs

    Queen of Clubs

Let me begin by saying that I've been looking for an "earth mother-y" blend for some time--something warm and earthy yet very womanly and alluring/sexy. I'm the geek who just *had* to start a thread about oils for rpg and original characters, and I admit that I mostly become rabid over oils that that I think really fit one of my character concepts. This is THE perfect sensual earthy blend. In the bottle, Queen of Clubs smells very much like Graveyard Dirt, but I can also detect a deep, tart pomegranate and a sweet, lush rose that reminds me of Rose Red without the chilliness I admit that when I first saw the Queen's description, I was terrified that the rose would be the infamous (at least, to me) "dryer sheet rose" that's in Lucy's Kiss, Moon Rose, Persephone, and many other rose blends. But it turns out that's not the case! I'm reminded a little bit of Zombie, but the rose in Queen of Clubs is sweeter and lusher. On my skin, the earthy note (like moist soil, without the ashy note I detected in Graveyard Dirt) moves to the background and grounds the entire blend, preventing the rose or pomegranate from becoming too sweet. The rose is truly glorious--a warmer Rose Red, without the sharpness. The vanilla comes out, a creamy *vanilla bean* that lends a warmth and smoothness without turning anything to candy. I detect a light dusting of incense, but it's extremely subtle, and I get no smokiness at all. Ahah!!! THERE'S the amber! Warm, luscious amber emerges later in the drydown, giving the blend a luminous glow. My god this may be the most beautiful thing I've ever smelled.

Chaos Theory II : The Butterfly Effect

Chaos Theory II CXV (115) In the bottle, this is a rich, sweet cream and some sweetly green, like fresh green shoots. It's a highly unusual combination, but one that whispers "child" and "nostalgia." I'm instantly reminded of Chaste Moon's description (not the notes--the flavor text). On my skin, I can detect something very lightly fruity and slightly tart--current? Pomegranate? The cream is in the background now, softening the blend. Where before the blend had a slight chill to it, now there's a cozy warmth. After several minutes, the blend has completely morphed. It's become foody...cookies dotted with dried fruit? EDIT: I just realized that I can still detect the sweet greenery and cream in the drydown! It's like...I tilt my wrist one way--slightly chilly cream and green, tilt it another way--cookies with dried fruit. It's like an entire nostalgia scene! This is a highly unusual, morphing blend. It's beautiful and evocative, but I might end up trading it for another bottle of CT2 that jives with me more

    Hamadryad

Oh, this is LOVELY! This is cinnamon and sweet woods, with a delicate green undertone. I was expecting something like Tarot: The World, with it's loud powdery cinnamon and dry woods, , but this is sweeter and lighter and the notes blend together far better. This is a bright, warm woodland with sunlight peeking through the treetops. Beautiful

    Juke Joint

MMMM!!! Slightly sweet and minty, Juke Joint is very cooling--literally! All those mint oils give my skin a tingly sensation, which makes me suspect that this oil would be great to mix with jojoba as a summer body oil I do get a slightly baby powdery note to it, but no alcohol, which makes it wearable

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Anyone know if the Clubs are autumn-y scents?

    The High Priestess

The High Priestess starts out as very sharp marzipan with something herbal/medicinal behind it. It quickly becomes bitter, like a plant root. Although the scent mellows a bit over time, it never looses the "bitter root" smell. A big dissapointment

    Milk Moon 2005

First whiff: Buttercream! Very similar to Chaste Moon, in fact. This made me nervous, as Chaste Moon didn't work out for me =( The buttery note died immediately, and a creamy-cool scent emerged. If anyone's tried CSP's Lait Sucre, Milk Moon has a touch of that milk note, but it's very subtle and unobtrusive (Lait Sucre has so much of that note that it smells like baby spitup ). The sweetness that I think people are identifying as mint is (to me) clearly the honey and the lunar oils. The honey might not be immediately recognizable; certainly, it's not like the honey is Jezebel or O. But I have Honey SN, and when layered over Vanilla Bean SN, the honey completely changes, and looses its floral quality. The honey in Milk Moon smells just like that soft, mellow, sweet honey. The "cool" quality comes from the lunar oils, I believe; at least, I am oddly reminded of Blue Moon The overall impression I get is of a baby's soft, sweet skin I love how it really does smell like milk and honey, and that the lunar oils are far in the background and beautifully accent the dominant notes without overwhelming them. Along with Blue and Red Moons, this is my favorite of the lunacies and one of my favorite LEs ever. Bravo!

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

Milk Moon smells a lot like Chaste Moon, but in my book it totally spanks Chaste Moon The Jack-like butter and soapy florals ruined Chaste Moon for me, so if you wanted to love Chaste Moon but were dissapointed, you might like Milk Moon

    The Ghost

Very dewy and white, with a bitter green undercurrent. I am absolutely amazed--this scent is the EMBODIMENT of white flowers of death. They're sheath-petaled flowers sprouting from a twisting green vine, which curls around a cemetary gate. There is loss and sorrow, but also grim inevitability to be smelled here. Amazing

    Nuit

A hazy, soporific jasmine brushed with dewy grasses and night air. This is a purple-flowered garden at midnight at the cusp of winter. Wonderfully evocative An Eiluned would love it

    Jabberwocky

I just love how Beth comes out with incredibly simple yet incredibly lovely and evocative scents The Jabberwocky is a difficult creature to encapsulate in a fragrance. The closest creature association I have with it is a friendly dragon (don't ask!!)--earthy darkness but with a certain whimsicality. The dark pine, shimering eucalyptus, and bright organge perfectly captures this concept. It's both foresty and bright, a cacophany rather than a harmony that fits in perfectly with the odd world of Wonderland. This would make a wonderful room scent

    Intrigue

This is a beautiful fig scent The cocoa blends very well with the woody notes, giving a very subtle foody nuance to the blend that even non-foody peeps can appreciate. The scent is shaded by a shadowy green note, from which the fig emerges. It reminds me of a darker, "cooler" Gomorrah, one of my favorites

    Blood Kiss

The cherry and wine and something creamy pop out immediately. For some reason, this blend smells almost like peanut butter if that makes any sense at all. It's an odd, slightly drugged-out scent that has a similar "feel" as Perversion (although I vastly prefer Perversion).

    Kathmandu

Fresh cedar, with a wintergreen mint tinge (lotus?) and spiciness. I get the impression of a meditation spot deep in the woods on a crisp winter morning. Incredibly evocative and beautiful

    Darkness

WOW 0_0 so THIS is opium! This is the blackest scent I've ever smelled...I thought Damnation and Tarot: Death were dark...this is BURNT. This is the slow blackout from an opium overdose.

    Masabakes

Thick and dark and fruity and slightly bitter, Masabakes is less poisonous than earthy--that's the myrrh working wonders with the black currant. If anyone is familiar with Changeling: The Dreaming, this is what I can imagine an Ailil wearing (manipulative, beautiful, aristocratic fae). It's the scent of black velvet and secrets

    High John the Conqueror

Very sweet, oddly powdery grape...more like grape cough syrup than grape gummies. I detect a slight undercurrent of florals as well. Not a favorite at all
