This starts out as "OMFG FRANKINCENSE" and quickly mellows down to allow the other resins/woods to emerge. I smell something almost ambery-y, which I'm assuming is the benzoin. I'm really bad at picking out individual notes, especially notes such as these, but it settles down to a much softer, mellower Cathedral. A very nice alternative for those who love incense blends but aren't "hardcore" enough for oils like Midnight Mass and Cathedral.

Wow... I was NOT expecting this to work o__o; Delicate flowers and flowing water (NOT "aquatic") This smells like an accord of Clinique Happy, actually Very pretty, but smells just like a less complex version of a popular "commercial" scent.

Absolutely gorgeous! This is deep incense, dark (but not animalistic, really) musk, and woods. I very much imagine a small store shrine in the depths of the darkened woods. A must for incense and wood lovers.
-
This is musky and woody, but completely unlike Buck Moon. The scent is dark and perfumey and "chilly," and wet and somewhat sweetly smokey.

Agreed =) Personally, I've been focusing more on resins/spices/woods these days, since they tend to hold up better and I have a ton of Lush solid perfumes to get through before I can really dig into my BPAL again!

Rouge, your description puts me very much in mind of Dia de los Muertos. Also, to a lesser degree, El Dia de Reyes. -

I have a Water-Aspected Dragon-Blooded I used to play in a now (happily!) finished Exalted roleplaying game. Her name is Margot ("pearl" in French) and she is very delicate, sweet, and pious (she's also an excellent martial-artist). Here are a couple of pics I've commissioned for her: http://neolucky.deviantart.com/art/Commiss...Margot-39748682 http://mrsloth.deviantart.com/art/Commission-Margot-34606863 She has golden hair and gold-tinged skin with a rippling water overlay (like sunlight dancing on water--very shiny, but she has Legendary Breeding, so year) House of Mirrors seems like an obvious choice, but it's just to androgynous-smelling. I was thinking maybe the original Milk Moon or Chaste Moon, but I'd love more recs =) -
Gah....I was expecting this. I'm so glad I didn't get rid of my bottle of BM04... BM 07 is indeed "blue" and "silvery" smelling. It's also very different from the original. BM is aquatic, cool, and floral. The original smelled like rippling water (NOT "aquatic"...I mean like *actual water*) with crisp cucumber and touches of mint. But more than anything, the original Blue Moon had a magical, ethereal fae quality that the new edition simply doesn't have. BM 07 smells nice, but it really isn't the same at all.

I would DEFINTELY look into Plunder and Bengal =)

The tangerine, lime and grapefruit pop out immediately, all tart and yummy! I also get a hint of peppermint/lavender (no chocolate though). The oakmoss is very much in the background, grounding the fragrance. The scent is not terribly strong. This is a very fun scent <3 like a fruity-herbal-mint tea with a soft earthy drydown. I can't off the top of my head think of another BPAL that smells like this.

This is lovely! Crisp, very dewy white flowers with a hint of a "bite" (like the spicy bite of bitter greens, but without any bitterness), I imagine a long-stalked white flower covered with dew (not at all like Desdemona, which is aquatic+waxy lily). After a few minutes, I start gettting hints of soap, but the vast majority of florals turn to soap on me, so if the non-soap bits look appealing, I highly rec Gibbous!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I knew I would love this when I saw the notes, which reminded me a lot of Bearded Lady (one of the very few floral scents that works on me), and I do indeed! Florals usually hate me, but stargazer lily stays true, as does tea rose (usually), and together, these notes smell fresh and sweet and pure and young (but not too young). The vanilla musk is extremely subtle, and is more of an underlay to the composition than a co-equal note. This scent is a bit powdery (as you can probably tell by the notes!) but not dusty. It's THE perfect scent for someone who doesn't like more "non-traditional" BPALs. Beth, please make more stargazer lily scents!!

Absolutely delicious <33 A warm, spicy, earthy amber with a touch of "heat" from the red musk. Highly rec'd for amber, spice, and resin fans.
-
Slushy, icy evergreen and spicy cakes...the two scents sound clashy, but they meld together perfectly. A perfect scent for a snowy day!

Fresh, this is heady, fruit-tinged marzipan. Then the myrrh comes out, marrying beauifully with the almond. The snake oil bit is very much in the background, which surprises me considering the original's headiness. This is a delicious, surprisingly light, almost foody fragrance.

Ooo this is nummy! I get a warm ambery spice (think thick, luscious aged rum without the alcohol part) and a thread of the "perfume" note. I wouldn't call this aquatic; the "sea air" is more of an overall "breeziness", which is nice because it keeps the composition from getting too heavy. I get no wood notes, oddly. Very "Caribbean" in feeling =) I would definitely rec this for a cruise.

Spice me, baby! The spiciest BPAL blends

For reference, aged (mine is 2 years, I think) Bengal is relatively mellow, so if you love spices but don't like the sharpness of fresh Bengal, look for an older bottle. -
Wet: OOOO! Grassy lemon sorbet!! <3 Drydown: Soapy florals? ;_; Teh Sadness! *wanted to love this*

These are the most unique and evocative BPALs I've tried. I don't have Snake Oil on the list only because I've smelled other perfumes that smell like Snake Oil. 1. Lughnasadh 2. Mabon 3. Samhain 4. Snow White 5. Milk Moon 6. Ides of March 7. Alice 8. Dorian 9. Blue Moon 10. Red Moon

Pumpkin Queen has the same butter-pumpkin base as Jack (and possible the pumpkin patch scents--not sure), which makes me rather sad, as I found Jack too fruity, buttery, and "heavy" for my tastes. PQ has orange and a hint of amber instead of Jack's spices, making it far closer to it's GC cousin than to Pumpkin King (which had a completely different pumpkin note. ;_;

I get earl grey tea, vanilla bean, and lemon...very nice! Very much a "souped-up Dorian." However, I get floral soap undertones during drydown, which ruins the effect =( I prefer regular ole' Dorian.
-
This is a very bright, strong, slightly "perfumey" apple with the electric "zing" of cranberries. Very fruity and tart, but not as fragrantly evocative as I'd hoped =/

I definately smell the connection to Samhain--the spicey leaves note is definately present! However, there's no warmth to Samhainophobia, and beyond the leaves and spice is a harsh cedar-woodiness, mossiness and...yes...a slightly unpleasent decaying note I'm not sure I like. However, I was complimented on this about 15 minutes after I applied it, and I love the name, so I'm not sure yet as to whether or not I should keep it....

I wanted to love this so dang much...I LOVE Beth's ginger note! And it does indeed have a lovely candied ginger note, as well as the opium note from Darkness and Langour. However, beyond those notes are what can only be described as "murkey florals." If there's musk in there, I can't tell =(

Underpants is imho the ultimate sandalwood scent for beginners. It isn't "OMGZWOODY!!!" being softened considerably by the vanilla and saffron. It's a wonderful "grounding" note in this blend
