The most hippie / hippy scent you have tried?
joseybird replied to MrsSoup67's topic in Recommendations
About half of what I've tried actually a kind of dark "murkiness"...Dragon's Blood, patchouli, vetiver...prolly other notes but I'm too lazy to do a full analysis XP Non-BPAL perfumery often uses these "hippie" notes, but in pretty minute amounts (at least, according to my nose). -

I can't smell the dif between Midnight Mass and Penitence...can anyone describe the dif to me? -
If you like ____ BPAL, then you'll like this product!

If you like Chaste Moon, you'll like Voluspa's Vanilla Creme Fleur If you like Absinthe or LA Fee Verte, you'll like Keiko Meichari (can't spell it, darn it!!!) Paname If you like Storyville, you'll like Frederic Malle Musc Ravaguer (although MR has a bit of an animalistic twist) If you like 2, 5, and 7, you'll like La Rose du Petit Prince -
As everyone else has already said--BROWNIE!! However, I like my gourmand perfumes a bit less...erm...literal ;D hehe...so thankfully I won't need to sell my soul for a bottle!

Sniffed at the meet n sniff--yay! This smells very much like Gypsy Queen, enough so that the I'd consider GQ an adaquate substitute. It's less floral/citrus-y than GQ, though, and it has a dominant note that smells a bit like an underlying note in GQ, although for the life of me I can't identify it...wood? resin? no idea, but Voodoo Queen is absolutely lovely, my second favorite C12 blend after Storyville.

... Yuzu, kaki, and mikan with cherry blossom and black tea. I don't know what half the notes of this blend smell like but my nose screams "FRESH GARDEN HERBS!!" :eek" Really...it smells like an herb garden and greenery, a tad savory (well, I get basil, at least), but not enough to make it off-putting. This is VERY different from any other BPAL I've sniffed, and I find it a refreshing change from the rest of my collection =)

This is the oddest scent, and yet it works! When I hear "smokey melon" I think "ewwww!" but oddly enough...it smells really nice! On me, the scent is primarily tobacco, fresh melon, and a touch of underlying spiciness.

This is one of the most delicious foody BPALs I've ever tried!! There's a chilly, unexpected freshness to this blend that takes me back to sleepaway camp when I was 11... The dominant note in Underbed is cassia; I have been dreading this, as cassia usuall=cinnamon which usually=redhots. Thankfully, however, it's the cinnamon that I smell in cinnamon SN: gentle and slightly foody--wonderful! Beneath the cinnamon is a delicious fluffy coconut cake. It's not a "flour-y", heavy cake note, but light and diaphenous and utterly wearable. The coconut is more a "tone" then a seperate identifiable note, and it's delicious (I love coconut but don't like the coconut in the vast majority of BPAL blends). I LOVE MB: Underbed! I had been dreading Beaver Moon or Sugar Cookie; what I got was a light 'n spicy, lovely gourmand =)

Description-wise they sound very different, but Smut reminds me very strongly of a less sweet Scherazade -

Black Opal and other stone, mineral type scents

Jacob's Ladder has a distinct "powdered golden rock" feel to it =) What you're loving, I think, is the heavy dose of egyptian musk in Black Opal -
BPAL scents appropriate for very young children?
joseybird replied to beetiger's topic in Recommendations
Obatala would be lovely on a youngin =) very soft and innocent and milky -
Oh Obatala, how I've been covetting you... I love milk and I love coconut, and though I didn't know what shea butter smells like, I didn't care--Obatala sounded PERFECT for me. Even better, it sounded perfect for my current favorite rp character, so I've been waiting anxiously since 4/1 to get a whiff... Let me just prefice my review by saying that I've only been this nuts over a just-released GC blend twice before: with Eden, and with Bengal. Both sounded both scrumptious and perfect for characters of mine. I waited and slathered and obsessed for months over them. And when I finally got them... I was dissapointed. But Obatala... This is exactly what I expected, and I am in heaven The reviewers are right: this is VERY much like Milk Moon, except lighter. I can definately detect the water note, which is WONDERFUL--it actually smells like fresh water (does that even have a smell? ), not cologne-y or laundry-sheet-like "aquatic." The coconut is distinct and has a bit of "texture" to it, although the milk note softens it up and takes off the harsh edge it has in scents like Blood Pearl (where it smells very "dry" to me). Obatala is mildly sweet and very cozy and gentle. Those who love the "coziness" of Alice and Dana O'Shee (which also have milk notes) really should check out Obatala. This has shot to the top of my fave GC list, and is now one of my fave BPALs ever

WORD. Zephyr does this for me, and whenever I get dressed up in a crisp white shirt and slacks, I find myself reaching for it, as it's a calm, controlled, crisp fragrance that smells a bit like clean skin. The "clean skin" smell is what I'd go for, frankly.

Suggestions for scents based on the 4 elements
joseybird replied to friendthegirl's topic in Recommendations
I think that Villain is perfect for water. Lavender fougre smells VERY aquatic to my nose, far more so than scents often referred to as aquatics, like Sea of Glass and Hurricane (those just smell like dryer sheets to me ><) -
Let me start off by saying that I'm not a fan of BPAL's white or green tea notes; they're just too sharp for me and they make me kinda queesy for some reason ;_; Spirits of the dead is a woody, papery white tea, and it does not work for me at all. Pity...it sounds so darned nice!!

Dark, very spicy, slightly fruity, and murky, Hellion is a fierce, agressive scent remeniscent of scents such as Wrath (it has a similar dry, "hot" quality). Not sure what champaca flower smells like, but it might be what's lending the scorched quality to this scent (haha I thought of "scorched" before reading the description to refresh my memory ). This is a black and deep red scent; very World of Darkness (love that game setting).

Wet on the skin, EOM is dark, dry, and almost woody. A dark, bracing citrus emerges almost immediately, as well as a tingly soapiness that I suspect is due to the plant extracts. I'm not familiar with black amber, so I'm not sure if I'm smelling it or not. As it dries down...another BPAL dark earthy scent =/ not nearly as exciting as I had hoped.

The search for "Clean" scents - general discussion
joseybird replied to Vicious Mistress's topic in Recommendations
I'd definately rec Zephyr, which is slightly tart and very clean (white musk and sandalwood) and crisp; it makes me picture a young woman in a crisp white blouse. -
I'd try spicy scents (although perhaps more for fall/winter than summer!) like Bengal and Three Witches...they tingle the nose and are unexpected enough to be flirty and different =) I's also rec Juliet for the sparkling pear topnote, and I second Titania.

Oil recommendations for studying, learning, exams
joseybird replied to summer's topic in Recommendations
I find that if I use one particular scent for studying, the scent memory it gets associated with is one of stress X_X so no BPAL for me when I'm studying! -
Oh lordy...the bunny bottle...XDDDDD;;

Milk Moon, or Obatala if it ends up being as OMFG as everyone is saying X)

Hmm...I've tried all the ones you've mentioned I think I may have to just wait for the next update
