Wet in imp: Mint with shades of lavender Wet on skin: The minty aspect is getting sharper Drydown: It mellows a bit, to a nice, herbal mint with a little bit of lavender in the background. Wearlength: Fades to nearly undetectable within a few hours, but it's very nice while it lasts. Final impression: I like it. It smells like a minty herb garden, full of balms, mints, worts and lavender. It's a nice, bright scent for hot weather, for headachey days, or as a winter pick-me-up. I think I'm picking up the metallic bit that Femme_Fatale noticed, but having once had a garden with mints and lemon balm and detecting that scent element among those plants, my nose-brain translates it as a characteristic of the herb (I've never smelled pennyroyal before, so I can only guess).

I don't get the floral note others seem to pick up, but here goes... Smells soft and green, like vegetables and mild herbs. The main scents I'm picking up are cucumber and fennel, with a gentle touch of something like nutmeg. I put this on just before heading to DMV, and it seems like it must have worked. I was in and out in under an hour, and everything went smoothly.

Wet in imp: earthy grapes Wet on skin: same as in the imp, but with a touch of fermentation, like wine Drydown: A light touch of heady floral is coming to the front. It seems like jasmine or gardenia, but then it starts to develop soapiness. Wearlength: Six hours later, I can still detect it on my skin, but within the four hours following that, it disappeared. Final impression: It goes a bit soapy on me at first, then it goes super-soapy. I think if it really does "what it says on the tin" I could use it in a scent locket, since I enjoyed the scent before it morphed.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
ErinZ replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
Thanks for the recommendations, naeelah. Eat Me didn't agree with my chemistry, but I'll look into Pepper. I'm not sure what squash blossom smells like on its own, but I guess I should have mentioned what notes came out the most for me with Crawdad Dream. Most of what I can pin down (not having a very well-trained nose) is blueberry, musk, vanilla and, I think, ginger. -

Has anyone discovered/observed a GC scent twin for Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream? That scent is my absolute favorite, but I almost never wear it because I don't want to run out. I'd love to find a GC twin or close cousin. -
This is beautiful, bright, clean and cheerful. It's a great pick-me-up scent.

This is smoke with sweet hay, earth and a touch of herbs. It's very interesting, and not unpleasant, but I don't feel it suits my personality.
-
Starts out sort of woody and warm, but goes to powder quickly. Smells like my grandma.
-
Woody, pine-y fruit early on, but the rose and gardenia pop out very strongly later. There's also a bit of spiciness in there, somewhere. It smells Christmas-y, like a nice gift shop around the holidays. I'm amping the flowers a bit too much for my liking. This would make a dynamite room scent for the winter!

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I just tried Tempest for the first time yesterday, and, to my nose, it's very much like Sturgeon Moon. -
This smells like a sea-scented shampoo I used sometimes as a kid. It's fresh, clean, and a bit cucumber-y. Pretty, but a bit too perfume-like. I can handle it, but my family is very sensitive and would likely have trouble with me wearing it around them.

I smell like I've been rolling around in the sweet earth of an evergreen forest. It's wonderful! There was a brief moment where it seemed to smell of some sort of air freshener, but that softened and morphed away until it was quite nice again.

Aaaaaack! The vetiver.... it's tryin' to kill me! Wet in the imp, all I can smell is the patchouli and vetiver. Once on my skin, even the patchouli disappears and it smells like straight vetiver. (disclaimer: I'm not a vetiver or patchouli fan, so this may not be as unpleasant to others as it is to me)

I thought I would despise this scent, but I think I like it. All throughout (wet in imp, wet on skin, and drydown), it smelled of spicy, smoky evergreen. As it dried and wore on, the musk developed. It's not a "pretty" scent, but it is earthy and comforting. I like it on myself, but I think it would be nearly impossible to resist on a man.

Wet in imp: beautiful apple-blossom-like scent (I think my nose is just interpreting cherry blossom like apple blossom, since that's what I'm more familiar with) Wet on skin: a touch of tea is showing up, as well as slight, mandarin-like citrus Drydown: very nice and fresh - like tea, candied citrus peel, and gentle, fruity blossoms Final impression: This is a perfect summer scent, or off-season pick-me-up. It's a bit like White Rabbit, but without the linens.
-
Wet in imp: I'm detecting the gin, juniper, tobacco and chili pepper Wet on skin: mostly gin and juniper Drydown: The cigar tobacco is developing more as it dries. I'm not picking up any melon, and I think the honey is disappearing into the tobacco. Final impression: This isn't really me, but I think it would be amazing on someone else, particularly a man. I think it may be giving me a headache.
-
Wet in imp: wood and patchouli, primarily Wet on skin: I don't know what palmarosa smells like generally, and I can't quite pick out something here. That might be it. Drydown: increasingly smells like something my Grandma wears and I've never particularly liked… I think it's the red sandalwood Final impression: I dont like it, unfortunately.
-
Wet in imp: woody floral Wet on skin: mostly wood Drydown: immediately upon drying, the wood calms down a bit and the roses start popping out at me before settling into a good balance Final impression: It smells nice, but it doesn't quite fit my personality. I picture this being amazing on a man or on a woman with more sophistication and outward sensuality.
-
Wet in imp: spicy incense Wet on skin: clove is becoming more distinct Drydown: orange comes out and clove and cinnamon warm it up Final impression: Smells a bit like a gift shop around the holidays. It's not too bad, but I'm not fan of incense notes (or of smelling like a holiday gift shop). I think I'd like this better as a fall and winter room scent, especially since my skin turns it more incense-y the longer I wear it.

Fresh, green, watery, sweet cucumber. There's a touch of a "conventional" perfume-scent too, but it's not obnoxious. It's very nice, especially for summer.
-
First sniff in the bottle was blueberry, but when I put it on it turned to soft, slightly powdery, vanilla musk with a touch of fruitiness. I'm not sure if the powdery part is me turning the musk powdery, or if that's just the way I interpret it. This scent makes me feel wise and womanly (although it would work on a man too, I'd think), but also a bit silly. In a good way

Wet in imp: spicy lilies Wet on skin: pure lily Drydown: starts out smelling like a bouquet of lilies, but gets a bit "perfume-y" for a little while Final impression: Begins smelling like a florist's shop (in a good way), turns to a more mature floral, and then fades to something really gentle and pretty.
-
Wet in imp: complex floral - I can't really pick out what I'm smelling (mostly because I'm not terribly skilled at specifying notes, especially in imps) Wet on skin: lily and jasmine Drydown: very pretty floral with almost a light "woody" scent Final impression: This develops into a fairly "conventional perfume" smelling scent on me. It's not bad, but it's not what I'm looking for.
-
Fresh, pure lavender to my nose. I didn't use it for travel or jet lag, but I think it had some soothing/centering qualities when I used it before bed.
-
Starts out as a strong floral, then turns to powdery, old lady floral. I'm sure it's fabulous on some folks… just not so much on me.
