galahad replied to spaceprostitute's topic in Recommendations
Definitely Western Diamondback but don't overlook Banded Sea Snake which I adore, especillay when aged -
It is indeed a llimited edition. I am trying to find the review thread for you but in the meantime:Sensual, sibilant, sexual and hypnotic: Arabian musk and exotic spices slinking through Egyptian amber, enticing vanilla, and a serpentine blend of black plum, labdanum, ambrette, benzoin and black coconut.Snake Charmer Review Thread

In The Bottle Smoky musk and tonka On Application As above but airier Dry Down Quite musky and incensey. Kind of goes to a musky and spicy leatherish scent. I like it. Rating (0-5) 4

In The Bottle Clove and musk. Lovely On Application Effervescent dark musk and clove. Dry Down Surprisingly cool and airy. This is glorious and surprisingly 'masculine' Rating (0-5) 4.5
-
In The Bottle Patchouli and frankincense On Application Sweetly resinous and powdery. Dry Down Fades somewhat quickly but is a gorgeous woody patchouli blend. Incensey. Nice Rating (0-5) 4

In The Bottle Chocolatey vetiver with faint florals On Application Wow. Chrysanthemum leaps out and combined with vetiver has a lovely dusty and dry scent Dry Down Develops a slight burnt plastic note a few minutes into the drydown. And then the rose amps up to spoil this. Rating (0-5) 2

In The Bottle Slightly spicy lavender On Application Sour lavender Dry Down Basically just sour lavender all of the time. Rating (0-5) 1

In The Bottle Rich, berryish and slightly grapey On Application Sour and sweaty grape Dry Down I can smell jasmine in this. Becomes quite dusty quite quickly on drydown. This never loses the sweaty sock smell. Not good on me. Rating (0-5) 2
-
In The Bottle Salty aquatic On Application Very salty aquatic Dry Down Sweetens and becomes softer on dry down. Becomes creamier as it dries. Pleasant but not for me. Rating (0-5) 3
-
In The Bottle Soft and pinkly sweet On Application Sweet and soft musk with sandalwood Dry Down Gorgeous sweet and creamy. Almost becomes smoky on the drydown. Love it. Rating (0-5) 4.5
-
In The Bottle Sour, buttery cream On Application Sugary cream Dry Down Very definitely spun sugar and cream. The cotton note eventually comes out to cut through the soft sweetness. Simple but so nicely conceived. Rating (0-5) 4.5

In The Bottle Sweet sandalwood. No sign of leather On Application New vinyl Dry Down Interesting. Kind of smells like brown paper and vanilla with a plasticky undertone. I quite like it but not sure if I will love it. Rating (0-5) 3.5

In The Bottle Whoa, leather. On Application Gorgeous, rich leather Dry Down Starts as new leather and then seems like more aged leather as it dries down. The moss and the balsam give the scent a wildness, like leather that is grass-stained. And then it's back to the new leather smell but spicier, almost like it has some plum in it. I like. Rating (0-5) 4

In The Bottle Sweet amber, tobacco and leather On Application Rich and sweet amber with tobacco. No leather Dry Down This reminds me of a more musk-centric Brom Bones. I love it. The leather doesn't really feature until later in the dry down and there is a slight sweatiness to it. Will age beautifully. Rating (0-5) 5

In The Bottle Defintely white musky and floral. Sharp with a green edge On Application Softer than expected, initially. Smooth but thin. I definitely pick out the gardenia. Dry Down Strongly floral still with greenness which settles into a musky floral. I can pick out the tea and gardenia clearly and the metallic edge comes into play later in the game. This smells like a more traditional perfume. Nice Rating (0-5) 4

In The Bottle Light musky tobacco On Application Lightly piney (almost minty) and resinous and musk Dry Down Really amps up in strength as it warms on the skin. Wow, this really is a morpher. It goes through an uncomfortable stage where it almost smells like pineapple but then the vanilla smooths things out into a lovely creamy resiny scent. Rating (0-5) 4.5

In The Bottle Musky, spicy plum. Potent. On Application Quite sharply perfumey but starts to mellow quite quickly as the vanilla emerges. Dry Down I absolutely love this. Musky patchouli with the slight fruity edge of plum. It dries down to quite a dusty, dry scent. The overall effect is of musky incense mixed with a woman's perfume. Rating (0-5) 5

In The Bottle Sweet beeswax and honey On Application The sweetness fades to be replaced by some smokiness. Dry Down Surpisingly light. I love the scents with beeswax in them and this is no exception. A bottle is on the cards. Rating (0-5) 4.5

In The Bottle Snake oil and coconut On Application Snake oil, plum and coconut Dry Down As it dries down the spices and musk emerge through the snake oil. Just beautiful. Surprisingly soft but with good throw. Lasts for ages. I was going to get 2 or 3 bottles of this since it seemed to be so popular but eneded up only getting one. Darn. Rating (0-5) 4.5

In The Bottle Salty water and fir. Strong! On Application Oddly, slightly fruity with salt water Dry Down I wasn't intending to try this but I was frimped and I love it. Very, very salty with smooth florals and almost fruity. The aquatic quality lasts well but the overall scent doesn't last on my skin. Rating (0-5) 3

In The Bottle Faint, sharp and perfumey On Application Not alot there. As above Dry Down Initially seems very faint but as it warms up becomes very strong but still softish. Overall has a very cologney/perfumey quality. I can't really pick any floral notes from this but I can detect the sandalwood and moss. I like it and would wear it when I wanted a more traditional smelling scent. Rating (0-5) 4

In The Bottle Green tea and lemon On Application Fresh and lemony Dry Down I have been hoping to get a frimp of this for ages in an order as it seems very popular but I tend to stay away from lemon. Finally I get to try it. This reminds me so much of my beloved Shanghai but with a slightly fresher and sharper edge (presumably from the lemon). This is beautiful and summery and I adore it as much as Shanghai. Lasts for ages on my skin as well. Will have to get a bottle. Rating (0-5) 4.5

In The Bottle The mulling spices, a vague fruitiness On Application Quite sharply floral. I can really pick the bergamot and the chrysanthemum. Dry Down The sugar eventually takes the sharpness away from the blend leaving a smooth slightly spicy scent. Quite lovely once it settles. Rating (0-5) 4

In The Bottle Mostly melon On Application The florals quickly join the melon but don't overpower Dry Down Starts as a musky honeydew melon, then the narcissus adds a smoky spiciness. This turns a little bitter as it dires down and doesn't last very long on my skin. Rating (0-5) 3.5
