I have also never tried Snake Oil but I REALLY want to now!! ^ that is definitely true! God this is just so so so so beautiful. Vanilla and lavender and that herbal undertone that keeps it from getting sickly-sweet...my face has been glued to my wrist for like two hours now. I actually dislike having more than one bottle of any scent but...I might have to scramble for another bottle of this. Because I will be very. very. very sad when this bottle is empty. This is like my perfect scent.

I've been wanting to try this forever because Dracula is one of my favorite books of all time! It is EXTREME Victorian floral, in the imp and on my skin. Very flowery and fussy and sweet. I actually like it a lot but it's so fussy I don't know if it is really wearable for me. It also makes me sneeze a little.

Starts out as a minty, lemongrassy scent; morphs quickly into a dusty, herbal rose on my skin. Interesting change! I really love this one,but the imp is enough for me; it's a beautiful rose but there are so many great lab roses to be had. Still really glad for the imp though!

I would swear there was lemon in here? Like spiced lemon peel or something? In the imp it smells lemony, herby and woodsy. On me it becomes a light, lemony, floral wodds - and then completely disappears. Within like twenty minutes. : (. It is SO pretty and I'm keeping the imp but I can't see buying a bottle of something that fades this fast.

ZOMBI is my favorite, without a doubt. I generally don't do straight florals, but the earthy note in Zombi makes the sweet, almost decaying rose note really grounded and wearable. It's one of my favorite BPALs of all time. There are a lot from this category that I have yet to try, though.

OK, I'll be honest, I read the notes for this and went "BLECH!!!" I never ever would have tried it, but my dude expressed interest in it so I got hold of a decant for him. I didn't even plan on testing it out (foolish!) but when I opened the imp for a little sniff, it surprised me. It smelled...GREAT. Sweet, slightly oaty, reminded me a lot of Gunpowder, actually, which I love. Wet on skin: smells like a caramel apple, but not overly-sticky-sweet. There's a muskiness that grounds it. Drydown: I cannot believe how nice this is. Sweet and softly musky, with a slight metallic tang around the edges. I do not smell beer or blood or whiskey at all! SO GOOD! I'm not sure if I need a bottle of this, but I am DEFINITELY going to try to get my mitts on a couple more decants of it if possible. ETA: I ended up grabbing a bottle, and this is one of my most favorite scents now.

Catherine smells like somewhat soapy rosemary on me, but in a distinguished sort of way. I actually reach for it pretty frequently; I keep it in my glasses case, so whenever I go to get my glasses out I get a nice whiff of 'fancy lady' smell.

In the imp: This smells like medicine and honeysuckle. I like honeysuckle! I do not really like medicine, so I'm wary, but I'll pluck up my wolfy courage and swab some on. Wet on skin: This smells like a single-note honeysuckle!!! Drydown: Man, now it just smells like JASMINE JASMINE JASMINE. Not offensive but you know how overpowering jasmine can be, right? Yeah. I think I will dump this imp into a bottle of conditioner; that way I can still enjoy the scent without being smacked in the face with it.

In the imp: Extremely bitter and sharp. Kind of weird. Wet on skin: Still bitter. Not exactly sure what I'm smelling here so I looked at the description, and I am shocked. HONEY?!?! Where are youuuuuuu? Drydown: Oh HAYYYYYY, there's the honey. I am whacked right in the face with honey. Unfortunately, it is...too much honey. All honey all the time. Crud. Not very me, truthfully. I'm sure I will have no trouble finding a good home for it, though.

In the imp: Gahhhh Grape Kool-Aid, EXACTLY!!! Plus vodka. Wet on skin: Red wine and musk. After about ten minutes the leather comes creeping out. I'm...not loving this. It smells like red wine spilled in an expensive car. Can see why others might like it, but it's not for me. I just am not that into the smell of wine. Glad I got to try it, though! It does make me want to explore some of the lab's other leathery scents. I like that new car smell.

In the imp: BUTTER!!!!!!!!! Straight melted butter. I'm unsure about this. Wet on skin: OK, this is a bit better. I think I smell honey and something creamy in there. Still dairyish, but not...you know, BUTTER. Drydown: Ooooooooh, this is pretty!! Soothing. I smell almond instead of marzipan, which is usually what almond turns into on me. Just a hint of spice. Reminds me of horchata, a bit!!! Final verdict: Looking at the notes I don't think I would have been terribly eager to try this had it not been given to me as a freebie, but I really, really like this. Possibly enough for a bottle even. Pleasantly surprised.
-
eeee I am so glad the lab included this freebie, I have been wanting to try it for ages!!! In the imp: clean, citrusy, but NOT lemon pledge. . Wet on skin: Aw man, OK NOW it is a bit lemon pledge-esque. Drydown: Heyyy, there is the lavender! Much better. The gross cleanser smell goes away and it's just really nice, clean, sweet citrus and lavender. I feel like this would be a great spring and/or summer scent. Not overly girly or perfumey; grounded by the lavender. I may add this to my long list of desired 5ml bottles, since I'm lacking a really great citrus blend.

This is the only imp that has ever made me FLINCH upon opening it!!!! So strong!! So...I'm sorry, but so terrible! It actually made my dog GROWL when I held the wand out towards him (he loves smelling everything in the world). I tried to try it on but it made me smell like a burnt tire doused in soy sauce and I could not stick around for further developments. Jeeeeeeeeeepers. Definitely unique, definitely evil, def. not me. Swap pile gets a bit fatter.

In the imp: winterfresh gum and tree bark?? Wet on skin: I smell like The Freshmaker. Plus a bit of pine, a little singed around the edges. Drydown: I did not expect this to be mint + bubblegum, but there you have it! I'd love for my breath to smell like this all the time, but I don't know about the rest of me. Also, VERY strong!! I let my dog sniff my wrist and he was like "HAYULL NO >:[". Maybe my dude will like it, he seems to be able to pull off every BPAL scent that I cannot.
-
In the imp: Man this is driving me CRAZY, this smells exactly like a book or stuffed animal or SOMETHING I had as a kid and I cannot put my finger on what it is. It's definitely SHARP!! A very biting but not totally unpleasant smell. Wet on skin: Um...this smells like bad breath and turpentine. :x. Drydown: Wow...no. This is a no for me. Shrieking paint fumes. Hopefully it will be kinder to someone else.
-
In the imp: Sharp! Grass, leaves and...some mint?? Wet on skin: PEPPERY! Somewhat masculine leaves and grass. I still don't know quite what vetiver smells like but I always imagined it would smell like this. Drydown: CRUDDDD this smelled so good at first but it ultimately ends up smelling like broth and toilet cleaner on me wtf, also yuck.
-
In the imp: This...smells like cologne and house paint. Wet on skin: Much better!! Sweet dried grasses and a bit of dust. Final verdict: Very faint, but so lovely. Dried grass + cleanish smell. I may or may not eventually get a bottle of this, depending on how much use I get of this imp. I could definitely see either a woman or a man wearing this.

In the imp: Hahaha, WHOA, I can see why this is such a favorite. I am already mentally ordering a 5ml and I have not even tried it on yet. Beautiful, cleanly sweet tea and vanilla. It actually smells a little like cream soda, I think. Wet on skin: I seriously cannot believe there exists a vanilla scent that I LIKE, let alone one I LOVE. Very natural vanilla-y smell, but not a MUSKY vanilla which is what I normally detest. After a few minutes a slightly more masculine tea smell peeks out beneath to temper the sweetness, which is perfect. Final verdict: Love. Am ordering a 5ml as I type. Can't believe it took me this long to try out.

In the imp: Coconut plus some mysterious sharp floral. hmmm. Wet on skin: Coconut-scented nail polish remover. Man, there is clearly a note that turns to nail polish remover on me in a lot of different scents, and I really need to figure out which it is so I can avoid it. Dry: Faintest whisper of coconut and something soft, almost shea-buttery. Very lovely, but I think I'd have to pour the entire thing on my arm to be able to detect it. Not sure if I will hang on to this one.
-
2008 version. In the bottle: WOW. Dirt and ... nail polish remover? Definitely something sharp and biting in there. On me: Thankfully the piercing note goes away and it's just rich, loamy DIRT with something woody lurking in the background. Most excellent.

In the bottle: sweet carrots plus the warm, sunbaked hay note from Hay Moon On me: Hay moon plus carrots plus a tinge of maple; slightly foodier and sweeter than I anticipated but I LOVE IT!!! Slightly musky undertone. Holy crapppppp I am in love. A little goes a LONG way on me, though! edited to add: I dabbed some of this on my wrist last night and woke up with my face planted in my arm; it smells so. good. Dabbed on a bit more this morning and it is still going strong 8+ hrs later. After a while, the oatiness DEFINITELY comes out and overpowers the sweet carrots, so it's like getting two distinct scents for the price of one! I really might try to swap for/buy another bottle. I can see myself reaching for this often.
-
In the imp: muddled but intriguing. Woodsy and vanilla-y and a bit dirty; reminds me of one of the Steamworks scents but I can't recall which. On me: For the first half hour I smelled like a pencil. Like, the shavings, the graphite, and the eraser. I actually sort of like that stage, truthfully, but I could see it being off-putting to others. After about half an hour, though, some of the other elements begin to play up and it smells warmer, and a little bit boozey. Gingerbready? I'm glad I ordered it, I think it's a really nice, interesting gender-neutral scent, but one bottle is definitely enough for me.
-
In the bottle: Grass so green it makes my mouth water. On me: OK, I think this + Hay Moon are going to be my signature scents until I run out of both of them. This is SO AMAZING. Sweet grass with a hint of dried leaves. It smells like my childhood. I absolutely love it and I think I might buy another bottle of it before it disappears; it is that great.
-
In the bottle: Oh crap. This smells a lot like White Rabbit, which I absolutely LOATHED because it smelled like rotten fruit and sour milk on me. Noooooooo! On me: OK, thankfully it tranforms into something much nicer than White Rabbit did on my skin. It definitely smells like Earl Grey + milk, with a bit of mustiness lurking in the background. I'm undecided. I'll give it a few more tries, but I may end up putting this bottle up to swap. I was really hoping for something a bit more woolly.
-
In the bottle: smells like white rose petals drenched in butter. Rich! Foodier than I was expecting. On: This smells SO princessy. I do not know how else to describe it; it smells like princess hair. Creamy and rosey. Normally I prefer spicier or more gender neutral scents, but I do have a weakness for rose, and I really love this one. It stays pretty close to the skin, too, which I think is best for a rose scent since it can so easily get out of hand/scream Old Lady. This is very girly and pretty; has faint throw but lasts for several hours on my skin, and I tend to eat up scents. I'm keeping the bottle despite the fact that my dude hates it.
