As oftentimes the too resplendent sun Hurries the pallid and reluctant moon Back to her sombre cave, ere she hath won A single ballad from the nightingale, So doth thy Beauty make my lips to fail, And all my sweetest singing out of tune. And as at dawn across the level mead On wings impetuous some wind will come, And with its too harsh kisses break the reed Which was its only instrument of song, So my too stormy passions work me wrong, And for excess of Love my Love is dumb. But surely unto Thee mine eyes did show Why I am silent, and my lute unstrung; Else it were better we should part, and go, Thou to some lips of sweeter melody, And I to nurse the barren memory Of unkissed kisses, and songs never sung. Unspoken love. Inspired by Oscar Wilde's poem. A scent brimming with pathos and memories of longing and loss. Rose touched with ylang ylang. This is soft and gorgeous...the rose is very light, almost powdery....lighter than the other rose scents that I have tried so far. I dont really smell the ylang ylang but that could be the underlying lightness that sits beneath the rose.

Wasnt sure about this in the vial, couldnt really distinguish the main scent...probably because I have a cold...smells distinctly of carnation now, 3.5 hours after application with a slight warm and spicy bottom note. This might be a keeper, I need a clear head to get a better sense of it.

This is a very warm scent....the cinnamon seems to be the driving force on me but I keep getting a sense of something underneath and i cant tell if its the patchouli or sandlewood...doesnt seem like sandlewood. This is one of my favorites so far. I used LUSH Orange and Spice soap this morning and it really seems to go well with this.
-
YES! It IS a warm sensual embrace! Smells like yummy cocoa goodness in the vial...not sure I can detect the myrrh yet, but after 1.5 hours the sandlewood wafts up at me in such a pleasureable way. I want to totally love this scent...I need some reinforcement that it smells as good on me as I am imagining

I really have no idea how to describe this. At first I thought it smelled like almond but then I see y'all say coconut! hhhmmmm....Nice warm scent, but just not my bag
-
Oh O, O O O.....where have you been my entire life? This is so beautiful and soft and warm. I dont even know how to explain it, its like being wrapped in a warm blanket...Miss E you have outdone yourself this time. I am in heaven

Jaded......Yum, Joe Perry

I couldnt place the flower in this at first and for some reason I kept thinking lilacs...then all of a sudden it hit me. JASMINE! Yes! This is fabulous and dries down light. I dont really smell the honeysuckle but I do detect a hint of something under the jasmine. I might need a big bottle of this! And a Hurricane.

Queen Mab is creepy to me as it gives me terrible anxiety. Scary past life thing you know..... I know it sounds silly, I think Haunted is just that....ghostly. It smells old, not like old lady, or like a basement. I dunno, hard to explain. -
Lovely lovely, the black currant is just divine. This one makes me happy! Seems a little too bright for gray Seattle winter/spring but just fabulous for warmer weather!
-
This scent is amazing....Started out sort of sweet and then warmed into a soft spicy...I'm not sure I can smell the lavender anymore but that might be because I am smelling my wrist every 5 minutes. This seems to have faded a bit too quickly...perhaps I didnt put enough on!
-
I feel like Neil Youngs Cinnamon Girl. But the end of the day the scent had faded completely
-
3 hours after application and I still smell like warm berries. This scent is amazing...I was worried it would be too sweet but its fabulous.

The Lowdown on Incense & Resin - The Best Recommendations
Polexia replied to Ms. MSGirl's topic in Recommendations
Try Snake Oil. To me it smells like an old incense that Spencer Gifts used to carry called Perfume from Ancient Lands. -
Wasnt too sure on this one as it smelled a bit too flowery in the vial. About 5 minutes after I put it on my boyfriend said "Hey, you SMELL good" Well then. I wish it was a little more sexy, a little more mysterious. Lovely for everyday wearing but I'd go for something with a little more kagasse for evening wear
-
Delightfully orange when first put on. Not the earthy smelling patchouli but warm and sexy. Its a scent that lingers and floats as you move
-
Amazing out of the bottle and on. Reminds me of an incense Spencer Gifts used to carry called "Perfume from Ancient Lands". Exotic and soft. I had two different men tell me that although it was a nice scent it was a little too incensy for a perfume. Bah, who listens to men anyway! ADDED March 15: Heres the magic of Snake Oil...today, my boss who thought that it was a little too incensy before stood next to me and said OH, you smell GOOD. I am definately buying a big bottle of this....I love it more and more each time I wear it

Lovely lovely lovely! I imagine this is how a phantom smells as she passes through the walls of her english mansion. Strong right out of the bottle but dries down to something soft and warm with a hint of sadness. The amber really seems to stay with me and I just adore that.
-
A bit too flowery for me when first put on but after an hour or so turns into a sensual light powdery scent. The Lilac is very light and the amber is barely noticeable after several hours I too am a HUGE Haunted fan and wish this was just a bit more ambery and a little less lilac. My boss said I smelled like his old aunt.

Lovely scent in the bottle and then immediately on...only decription that immediately comes to mind is Purple. Yes, this smells purple. HOWEVER, I have tried to wear this on two seperate occasions and have found that it gives me a terrible case of anxiety which someone explained to me as possible past life caused.
