Bottle--Chocolate and rum like whoa. No sweetness to this one, all bitter. I remember it was awesome on my former roommate, let's hope I have the same luck. Wet--almost immediately the wine comes out and sweetens the chocolate, but there's something gritty there, something tangy. The sacrificial blood scent, I imagine. The rum is still there but only barely. That's fine, I like what I've got with the wine and dark chocolate. I smell good for the heart! Drydown--Still that dark sweetness, mostly without the tang, but I'm ok with that. The only problem is that it has been only a few hours and the smell is now very faint. I only dabbed it on though, so we'll test its staying power again later. If it has decent staying and throw, I'm getting a bottle. This is delicious.

    Queen of Sheba

Bottle--almonds and something spicy that I can't place. That's going to annoy me. Wet--REALLLLLLLY strong almonds. Like, almond paste almost. I can't smell the other spicyness right now. Maybe it will come out later. Drydown--Really soapy after an hour. Darn.

    Rapture

Bottle--Rose and jasmine. Pretty. Wet--Hm, Rose still, and the jasmine, but some of the musk is showing itself as well I think, because there's a dark something there. This has potential. Drydown--Rose-scented soap. Meh.

    Depraved

Depraved Bottle--Patchouli. Lots of Patchouli. Ah, the dirt smell of patchouli. Oooh, I can smell the sweetness of the apricot a bit too. That's nice. Wet--Sweet dirt. This actually mixes well, at least at the beginning. We'll see how it hold. It fits the description well, but I don't know how depraved it makes me feel. Heh. We'll see. Drydown--The apricot and the patchouli battled it out for awhile. Seriously. I'd sniff and get apricot with a patchouli base, and then fifteen, twenty minutes later I would get the reverse. The patchouli won out at the end, but I may give the apricot another chance to prove itself, because when that note was at the forefront the whole thing was so lovely.

    Lilith

Lilith Bottle--Smoke. And something sweet. Wet--The musk and the rose. Nice, but I want more wine scent. Sometimes the Lab's wine note works on me,and sometimes it is grape bubble gum. Drydown--It goes way too rosy and then disappears too fast. Hrm. Disappointing all around.

    Tushnamatay

Tushnamatay-- Pure internal harmony and spiritual bliss: the perfected meditation blend. Bottle--there's no description of the ingredients. Kind of flowery and sweet. Wet--I think there might be lily or gardenia in here. Very girly. Not what I thought at all. Drydown--It gets a bit greener, less girly. I like it but it was very faint. I'll give it another try, probably.

    Mr. Nancy

Bottle--Lime first, and then the a sweet boozy scent with something darker. Wet--Lime and something tingly...the tobacco most likely. Lots of lime though. Drydown-This does very well on drying. The lime becomes more muted and the sugar and tobacco come out to play, with a tinge of rum. One of my favorite new scents.

    Salomé

Bottle--Almond and sandalwood. Wet--Almond, sandalwood and star jasmine. Kind of pretty...much more than I thought it would be. Drydown--The sandalwood and musk come out and take over, making this one almost commercially perfumey. Pretty. But not my thing.

    Persephone

Bottle-Rose, but the pomegranate is tempering it. Wet-Lots of rose, but a richer smell than typical English Rose perfume. Drydown *sigh* The pomegranate is trying, but there is just too much rose. I like pomegranate though, so I'll have to try some of the other ones with pomegranate notes. Beth's rose notes are just too strong for me most of the time.

    The Unicorn

Bottle-It sounds stupid, but this smells....delicate. I can smell the linden, and there is definitely something herby happening here. Wet-Crushed herbs. Something almost lemony here, but not in a Lemon Pledge way like Black Cat. More like freshly peeled lemon rind. Fresh. Dainty. Drydown--Clean, bright herbs. Normally "bright" for me signals bad, but its just. Fresh and pretty. I keep using words like delicate and dainty. Maybe because it is all about unicorns?

    Elegba

Bottle-Sweet sugary coconut. Wet-Sweet sugary coconut. Drydown-Ew. This goes all Play Doh and horrible on me very quickly. Which is fine. I have Black Pearl for sweet sugary coconut and rum.

    Thirteen (13): July 2007

Bottle-I can smell the cocoa and white chocolate immediately, then something underneath...the orchid and the honey. Wet-Orchid like WHOA. Some of the ginger and peach, too. Hm. Where's my chocolate? Drydown-OOh! there it is! The drydown gives me cocoa, ginger and clove. Gorgeous. And it lasts FOREVER. I can still smell it the next morning.

    Miskatonic University

Bottle: hmm, something almost butterscotchy in this, but...dark. On Me: OMG. Heaven. Who knew that the best thing to do with Irish coffee scent was to throw dust in it? This is just delightful. Dark, rich...I keep wanted to nibble my wrist, it just smells so good. Definitely a bottle at some point.

    Midnight

Bottle: perfumey. It reminds me a little of New Orleans, which was way too flowery for me so I gave it to my mom in a hand cream. On me: Yeah. Straight up flowery perfume. Which, ok, not altogether surprising, but sometimes I get something deeper from BPAL's floral scents. Today would not be that day. Mom will like it.

    Black Annis

... Black Annis' perfume is a mixture of damp cave lichen and oak leaf with a hint of vetiver, civet and anise. Bottle: Smells like licorice. That's it. This isn't going to go well. On me: Well alright then. Color me surprised. And happy. Some of the anise backs off and lets the oak leaf and civet come through. And the vetiver isn't controlling, which it tends to do on me. What I have is a deep spicy, somber fragrance. I'm a fan. I might not do a bottle of this, but I'll probably do another imp at some point. Staying power like whoa.

    Black Cat

Bottle--Light, tingly. On me: Something sour. And then Lemon Pledge. I wore this twice to make sure. Lemon Pledge. Uck.

    Bilquis

Bottle: oooh, almond and musk. Pretty. Where's the apple? On me: At first, the fig and the myrrh are really REALLY strong, but after an hour or so the almond and lily of the valley come out and temper it. I'm not getting a lot of honey and apple on this, which is what I wanted, but I like it. And the boy likes it, which is rare. It has incredible throw and staying power.

    The Oblation

Bottle: Honey and lavender...and something tingly. Blackberry, probably. On me: the lavender and honey provide a lovely undertone to a lot of juicy blackberry. Normally I don't like fruitier scents except apple, but this just smells so lovely and playful on me at the beginning, then deepens into something rich and dark. So complicated. One of my new favorites. Also has a lot of throw. Too bad it was an LE.

    Holiday Moon

In the bottle: Oooh, interesting...something soothing about this one. Wet: I've figured out why it is so soothing. It reminds me of family vacations that my family took to Jamaica when I was young. Bamboo pulp, maybe? Drydown: Oh. Oh dear. Lemon-infused incense. Hrm. Not so sure now. I gave this a few tries. The first hour is lovely. After that, I smell like a Catholic Church that's been dusted with lemon pledge after high mass. Just. Not for me. I'll be trading this one, unfortunately.

    Red Lantern

I bought this on a whim, and it paid off. in the bottle: oh man, coconut and caramel. I hate hate hate the taste of caramel, but I adore the smell. There's something darker in it too. Wet: This is probably the richest, most luxuriant non-chocolate scent I've tried. Just. Yummy. Drydown: The coconut fades, letting some of the other notes mix with the caramel. Just lovely. Lots of the tobacco now. I reapplied before going to bed, and wore it the next day, which is unheard of for me when I have a lot of new stuff to try. Just. So good. I hate I only bought one bottle.

    Lurid

In the bottle: Um. Maybe. Probably not. There's something too....loud about this. I'm guessing its the ozone note. Wet: Hm. Still really sharp and loud and bothering me, but I already have a headache. Should I maybe wash it off? Nah, I'll give it a chance Drydown: Ooookay, this is growing on me. As someone else said, you start out being unsure, and end up liking it. It has softened somewhat, and is a clean, bright scent on me. I think the currant and the musk have come out to play, and toned down the ozone. End of Day: Still smell it faintly. Mostly just the lavender. Ok, I'm in. I like it. But, I am wondering if it will do that everytime? Feel like too much of...something towards the beginning

    Stardust

I really wanted to love this, as I love champagne notes. Bottle: Smells floral-y. I didn't get the hairspray note people mentioned. Wet: Rich, very mature commercial perfume, with a tang. Dry: Tang is gone. Left with a very clear perfume scent. I do love it, but man, it smells like commercial perfume. Its the only thing from BPAL I've tried that smells like something commercial. I wasn't thinking Charlie like a lot of people, but definitely thought of Obsession. Which I always liked, so I am glad to have this, and in fact have worn it two days in a row, which is rare for me when trying a bunch of new scents.

    White Rabbit

My roommate had an imp of this months ago. I used it ONCE, and was hooked. Finally got my bottle of it recently. Bottle: The tea, ginger, and linen smell absolutely gorgeous. Very clean, but pretty. Wet: The pepper comes out to join the tea and ginger, but the linen has disappeared. Spicy and clean. Drydown: The linen comes back, and its just a very lovely blend. Very professional, something I would definitely wear in the office.

    Iago

I was worried this would be a bit too masculine for me (forget about my partner, I'm far more masculine than he is). I think someone I trust once said it was the only gender neutral or masculine scent she couldn't wear, so it was with much trepidation that I tried it yesterday. Bottle: Leather and smoke. Yummy. Wet: Wow, it smells like I'm in a leather-goods shop. Delicious. Drydown: The smoky musk part comes out more, and tames the leather a bit, making it a warm, sensual scent. Definitely a keeper. I loved wearing this. ADDED 3/24/08: Imp: Smells exactly like my leather jacket. Wet: A bit like smokey leather. Hmm. Drydown: More musky, less leathery. Oh well, it smells good on the boyfriend.

    Namaste

I very much wanted to like this imp, and I thought from the description that I would. But. I didn't get any of the notes except the lemongrass and the sandalwood. The lemongrass was overpowering. Like Lemon Pledge. I think it might be a nice scent to diffuse in my apartment, but I don't want to smell like I've been polishing wooden benches in a Catholic Church.
