Midnight Mass is simply a beautiful, rich, deep, warm incense. It's gorgeous. In the bottle and when it first hits my skin that is. It's been a while since I've smelled the incense in church but I can imagine this oil captures it perfectly. I have to agree, it is definitely sweeter and warmer than Cathedral (which I love). But, as it develops on my skin it does something unfortunate. I don't even know how to describe it but it's not good. I thought it was a fluke but it's done it just about every time I've worn it. So. I don't know what the offending note is, but it doesn't work for me and I'm going to have to bid MM farewell. I'm envious of those of you on which Midnight Mass remains the same; I thought I had found my HG of incense scents but tis not to be. Yeah, I was never really the religious type anyway.

Herr Drosselmeyer - another spot on scent. In the bottle: It's all pipe tobacco. Deep, rich. I get the bitter note of the tobacco here more than any other time. And maybe a slight tang of leather. On the skin: It sweetens up considerably, but still remains cherry pipe tobacco. I get hints of leather but that could be the tobacco. The woods remain hidden but this is a very deep, rich scent. Perhaps the woods add some of the depth. It's a very strong scent and all you need is just a touch. For some reason it reminds me a wee bit of Miskatonic University. It's a deep rich scent like MiskU, I don't get coffee per say, but there's a similar feeling to it - they are both deep, rich, sweet scents, and to me bringing to mind dark, polished wood, leather chairs, hard bound books. Crackle of the fire in the background... Herr Drosselmeyer lasts a long time and remains pretty true. As with the woods, the linen remains hidden. And just to reiterate, this is all about the pipe tobacco! Overall impression: I like it! Not sure if I'll need another bottle but it's just perfect for those times when I want to feel all warm and cozy. It is a pretty manly scent, but a woman could get away with it I have no doubt.

I like decanting a bit into 5/8 or 1/3 dram containers and carrying those around with me. I used to carry around bottles and rollerballs, but I've had leakyness problems with rollerballs. I've had some problems with carrying imps around (issues with the top) so I really like the X dram containers as the tops screw on and are very secure. I don't worry at all about leaking, can carry around a whole mess of scents in a little container, and each contains only about an imp or two, so I can feel free to gift them away or if something happens it's not like I'm risking a whole bottle.

Jacob's Ladder was the first oil I reached for when I picked up my box today. It's taken me a while to get my mind around it other than to be able to say, "wow, I really really like this and want more..." In the Bottle:When I first opened the bottle, I really didn't smell much at all. To me, in the bottle, it's a very faint, but beautiful scent - warm, ambery. But a light amber. On the Skin: When I first put it on, it remained very faint. But it immediately reminded of the Lion, not quite as spicy, but it's the same amber. A soft, glowing, warm amber. This is the amber I love - some ambers tend to go powdery on me, but this stays true. The longer I wear it, it seems to get deeper, richer. I can really smell the tonka - it adds depth, richness and makes me think of sex for some reason. It doesn't have the spiciness of the Lion, nor the grassy musk in Coyote, but Jacob's Ladder is in my mind in this class of scents, but more feminine than either. Its almost like take those scents, mix them up, throw in a dash of Black Opal, and now you've got Jabob's Ladder. When I wore it earlier, I almost got an incense like vibe during the drydown but I'm not getting it here. Because it's a rather light scent on me, I can see that addition bottles are in order. Overall impression: Just amazing. I....need...more.

Alone has bit me - twice. The first time, I thought oh, it's too close to the shower, so I didn't give it any mind. But it left big red marks whereever I used it. Big, sore red marks. I swapped for a bottles after falling in love with the imp, and I picked it up yesterday at lunchtime. I put some more on - the same thing! so I"m going to have to go back and reread this thread, and get experimental with jojoba oil. Such a beautiful scent. *sigh* I still have hope...

Warm, soft, sweet vanilla. I get a bit of musk but the vanilla predominates. I never knew I was a vanilla fan before I found BPAL. Yes, it is very similar to Morocco and Black Opal. For some reason it reminds me of powdered sugar or creamy vanilla frosting. Yum!

I've been wearing this combination all day - Snake Oil, Dana O'Shee, dab of Aureus. It's beautful! O doesn't work for me - the honey, but Dana is great. My POLT vial is almost gone, but I swear this is pretty close. Not sure if its the EDT or EDP (proly EDT) but the layering smells great! I'm tempted to try a mixing experiment...

how about Dana O'Shee, Snake Oil and the slightest dab of Aureus. Aureus to provide that touch of wood that's otherwise missing and tone down the sweetness just a notch.

I have to agree that this is a very seasonal scent. Just perfect for the colder times of year when you feel like reaching for a thick wool sweater, burrowing down into a dark brown leather chair. Mission style. And, of course, drinking a big warm cuppa coffee laced with sweet cream and a touch of booze. When I put this on, initially, I get a touch of coconut (?) but that quickly changes into warm rich Irish cream coffee. So deliciously edible. That scent stays pretty true for the life of the scent on me, I don't really get wood, dusty papers, or tobacco. It's a strong scent and I reach for when I need to be inspired. Yum!

I like the idea of poisonous plants. I think that was an excellent and inspiried choice. Anything with musk or amber, even if they are traditionally masculine, seem too sexy. Well, maybe DeSade would work as that is just pure strong leather. Or Dragon's Hide seems pretty balls to the wall powerful and commanding to me. Just strong, but not sexy in the come hither kinda way. And congratulations on the contract Miss Lynx - that's fantastic!

A play of geological darkness and jagged brilliance. Soft and luminescent with flashes of black fire. *sparkle* Black Opal. *sparkle* I wish there was a way to make this all glittery. It should be. This is a beautiful scent. Soft, sweet warm vanilla. When I first put it on, I get an odd, almost rubber smell. That's the only way I can describe it. Kinda like the what I remember of the initial blast of 10 Corso Como. I wonder if that's oud/agarwood or something similar? It adds a hard edge to a very soft, rounded scent. Underneath is the warm soft vanilla and musk. Over time, the rubber loses hold and the sweetness comes out. I can smell tonka, vanilla and musk. It goes slightly powdery but it's ok. Overall, this is just beautiful. I don't know how she does it.

Trick or Treat is so delicious! I ordered it because I was curious, but it has far exceeded my expectations! In the bottle: Creamed corn & sweetness. A little bit of booze (crazy but that's what I get). I can see similarities to butterscotch pudding but I get more of the corn smell. On the skin: Very similar to Sugar Skull. But with traces of corn and a spicy warmth. It's very sweet. Drydown and Conclusion: This is a big winner for me! I think that I like it more than Sugar Skull. It dries with a butterscotch, cinnamon, spicy sweetness that is just yummy. The sweetness takes a backseat to the spices. The cinnamon really amps up on me. I think I'm going to need a second bottle.

Thanks to the generosity of Jasminepearls I got to try Moxie a little earlier than was expecting. Wow! Moxie is certainly in-your-face tangerine! It fades pretty quick on me but I am left with wafts of a sweet, slightly sugared tangerine. It's certainly energizing, I only wish it stuck around a bit longer. But, overall, it's delicious!

Beth does the best vanilla blends. This one is no exception. I see now why it is so popular. This was a frimp from the lab in a recent order and I'm so glad I got the chance to try this. On, it smells like sweet, vanilla'd maraschino cherries. Sweet, yummy, edible - makes me think of a banana split. Dragon's Milk is extremely long lasting on me. Similarities to Snake Oil come out - the vanilla of course. I've had some mixed luck with honey in the past but here it's behaving nicely. Component-wise, it seems as if this is mainly vanilla, a squirt of honey and a smidge of dragon's blood. Vanilla is the dominant scent with the dragon's blood adding a bit of fruity goodness. Overall, it's just wonderful - a very comforting scent and I plan on getting a 10 ml in the near future.

Oh - I hope you like it (geek that is). It reminds me a lot of Lovitar except there's no red musk. Instead, it's a bit more dry and wild. Speaking of Lovitar, that's another one I think would smell amazing on a man. I've never smelled it on a man but it seems very well suited. Geek - hot leather, opoponax, cedar, pine needle, mosses, dry grass, patchouli and cinnamon bark Lovitar - leather *sigh*, black amber, red musk and myrrh. Leather =

How could Geek not be on this list? It smells very sexy on a man. Spicy, warm, leathery, yum! House of Mirrors is also good. And of course Fenris Wolf. And King of Clubs is damn sexy no matter who wears it. (of course these are all LE's except for Fenris, but that's how it goes...)

Halloween oils

This is such an amazing scent!!! I fell in love with the description and I'm so glad that the oil and my expectations matched. I get spice and a light musk. Kinda like the Shub Niggurath and Buck Moon mated and this is their love child. But the child definately takes after his father. The musk is predominant. There's a bit of spiciness - sometimes I think ginger, then other times I think cinnamon. The musk is pretty light on me - it reminds me of the light musks in Buck Moon or Dorian. I don't really get booze or much smoke, but what smoke there is, it's a sweet smoke. I think the musk and smoke mix and give it this velvety, warm feeling. It's a very light scent and stays close, but I love it. Absolutely love it. I can't stop smelling myself. It becomes a second skin scent that is very sexy. Devil's Night indeed.

In the Bottle: Honey and milk On the Skin: Honey, milk and mint. As it dries, the honey comes out on me, but I'm not much a fan for honey. The cream stays very true. It does remind me a lot of White Rabbit! It's a sweet, warm, soft scent, pretty but I'm not sure that it's me. The lunar oils add a bit of smoothness and bring to mind the color light, pale mint green. Overall Impression: Milk Moon is nicely done but it's not me. I'm more a woods, leather and incense kinda gal. While this is soft and comforting, it's not something that I'd ever wear on a regular basis, or reach for much at all. So far it's sat in the dark for months. So that says something. For milk scents, I think that the spicy carnation of Alice makes the milk a lot more interesting. Ah well, I'm glad that I got to try it.

I can't wait to see what the Pumpkin Patch bottles and labels look like. I know they're in transit - I hope that someone posts a pic once they get theirs. I'm dying to see! Oh - and the A Demon in My View labels are georgrous! Great job - to echo an earlier sentiment - they make me want to get them just for the bottles!

Well I definitely know that some ambers are not my friend. Haunted proves it. I wasn't quite sure before. Haunted was not what I was expecting. I think I expected something like the Lion with a blast of musk. Not what I got at all. In the Imp, I was surprised by its smell, not too musky but a dry, not-sweet amber. It reminds me of some kinda food that I can't place right now. On the Skin, that dry smell continues. As I wear it, I get the Play-Dough scent. Uggg. Not good. And that this weird almost foody scent continues. For the life of me I can't think of it - some sort of dessert it must be. Final Thought, Haunted is not for me. There's plenty of other BPAL to love. edited: Ah ha! I think it's marzipan. Some sort of almond concoction. That's the foody scent I get!

In the imp: slightly sweet & very spicy. The pepper, ginger, cinnamon and clove blend together very well so all I get is a "Wow - this is spicy!" On the skin: Don't put Bengal on right after coming out of the shower (**ouch!**). I only put a dab on, and for that I'm glad. Spice was the predominant note, with cinnamon coming to the forefront. The cinnamon and ginger combo reminded me a bit of something pomanderish. That vanished pretty quickly and the spices begin to mellow. As it dries, the honey and musk comes out. It vanished pretty quick on me, but I think that's because I only put the smallest amount on. I imagine that it would last a lot longer had I been more liberal in application. Overall: Very nice and I'm glad that I got to try it. It seems like this would be an excellent scent for winter. I'm not super crazy about the wet phase, but as it dries it turns into this beautiful spicy honeyed scent. A honey that likes me - amazing!.
