    The Antikythera Mechanism

Tobacco and woods. A slight sweetness. As it dries, this becomes sweeter and vanilla emerges. The wood becomes stronger yet it is a mild wood. The tobacco is gorgeous here. This is so reminiscent of Glowing Vulva but without the thickness that scent has. This is a more fluid scent, and I think of it as the masculine counterpart to GV. The wood smells fresh and raw to my nose and it combined with the tobacco, makes an almost green note that adds to the masculine feel of this oil. That note is what offsets the thick sweetness of GV that is present in the background. The sum combination is absolutely gorgeous and I should have bought a bottle straight away, as I adore all of the notes listed. Bottleworthy for sure!!! This shot straight up into my GC top 10 list. LOVE IT!!!!!
  2. I just tested galvanic goggles and find it to be very similar to black lace. it starts out different but the dry down is so close. it has that same wonderful smooth tobacco and musk, and there's a vanilla sweetness there that's similar too. it's not exact but really close. maybe a touch of antique lace and voila, a black lace dupe.

Wet, Lemon verbena! Dry, Lemon Verbena! Lots and lots of verbena. I wish I had checked the notes before trying this one. I can’t stand lemon verbena and that is all that’s the dominant note here. Ah wait, maybe there’s a touch of rose here. Not that it endears me any more to this scent. Now that it’s been on an hour or so, it smells deeper and with musk or resins. Not just rose. And the lemon verbena has backed way off. There’s still rose here, but it’s quite lovely in how it blends and darkens. I like how this oil ended up, but I can’t stand verbena. The beginning was a killer.

    Autumn

Wet, I smell the dry leaves that can be found in October or Samhain. When this was wet, I wasn’t sure how I felt about this, but after smelling it for a wee bit, this is gorgeous! What I hoped and imagined that Samhain would be. This reminds me of a softer, gentler Samhain, not so dark and heavy. There’s very much a lightness and freshness here. But still very much evocative of fall time. Beautiful.

Wet this is such a bright, fruity scent. The pear is quite strong but there’s the greenness and succulence of bamboo too. This is so gorgeous. I don’t normally like fruity scents but I quite like this one. It also reminds me of Black Moon but with loads of pear and sugar. It has qualities of Hungry Ghost Moon and perhaps more so of Tamamo-no-mae. The bamboo is still quite prominent here, perhaps rice flower too. White , jasmine and moss too. There's something almost creamy here, so perhaps that is rice flower. This is a very Asian-themed scent to me. This is absolutely gorgeous and I would love to have a bottle of this scent. eta: after this has been on a few hours this is very sweet and sugary. it's not maple syrup sweet, nor granular white sugar sweet. it's somwhere in between with a touch of caramel and fruit. delicious!

    Parsifal

On the skin, this is light and fresh, smelling of ozone and glass. After it’s been on a minute or so, the ozone and glass back off and there’s a sweetness here, perhaps honey but florals too. It reminds me very much of how I remember House of Mirrors. Unfortunately I got rid of that one a long time ago so I can’t compare. This is a very pretty scent. I’m not sure I know what narcissus smells like, but if I had to describe the florals here, I would say a refined tropical flower, maybe cream colored and small in stature. In sum, this is quite a pretty scent, light and so bright. It’s not really my style and I would never wear something like this, but I’m glad to have tried it.

    Ostara

This is such a soft and gentle scent. On the skin, it smells so innocent I can’t even believe it. I can’t even assign notes, just young, innocent and pure. Soft. Sweet. This reminds me of a big fluffy white cloud, or a big fluffy white towel so luxurious you just sink right in. There’s also a creaminess about this scent. This is such a unique scent and so skillfully blended. I’m glad I have a bottle.

    Hermia

I’m so glad that I got this a frimp in a recent order, I’ve been wanting to try this since it was released. I’m not disappointed at all. When first applied, this is a very sweet, amber blend. This reminds me of Hymn to Prosperpine. It’s gorgeous. I’m also getting a bit of a lemony-foody scent, but it’s very faint. The pepper is there too and it adds a spicy aspect to the sweet amber. I don’t know what passionflower smells like, but perhaps it is that combined with the honeysuckle that adds such a candy-sweetness to this oil. This is a gorgeous blend and I’m so glad that I finally tried it. Now to get a bottle…
  9. yeah, SC is pretty much unique. Nahemoth of the now discontinued Qliphoth line reminded many of Snake Charmer. I would also reiterate Mme Moriarty and Snake Oil. I'd also add anaconda (not that that helps any since it's insanely hard to come by) Ravenous, or Eat Me. I thought that the vanilla in Lady Una was similar to that in Snake Charmer. In the same family or type of scent, I would also include Mum Moon, Dark Delicacies, Temple Viper, Vixen, Xiuhtechtli, Event Horizon, Voodoo Queen, and there was a great cry in Egypt, and Venom.

    Worm Moon 2008

Wet: In the bottle and wet on the skin, this smells just like fresh, potting soil. Drydown to about 20 minutes: As it dried, it starts to smell more and more like a soft incense. There’s still a dirt tang there, but it’s really softened up. This is really pretty but I can’t believe how soft and faint this is. 20 minutes to < hr: It’s been on less than an hour and it’s already gone. Too bad, I really like the phases of this scent, especially after it had dried down a bit.

    Cheshire Moon

I’m so glad that this blend works for me. I have a sweet spot for the Cheshire Cat and I would have been really sorry had its moon not worked for me. The first thing I smell are sweet, tart fruits, a touch of cake, cream and soft florals. The tone of this oil reminds me very strongly of Ecstasy of Infatuation, but perhaps a little more tart. It has that same gleeful, cheerful, bright, playful feeling. As it wears the cherry blossom becomes a bit stronger but nicely so. The citrus and lemongrass remain just enough to keep a tartness to this blend and that creamy quality remains. The cake smell seems to disappear. Everything in this blend is perfectly balanced. It’s not too fruity, the lemongrass doesn’t overwhelm (thank god) and the florals are kept in check. This is just gorgeous and so perfect for spring. Love it!

    Wanton

At first I smell roses. Lots of roses. And some resins or wood in the background (these are fairly faint though). The rose is by far the strongest thing I can smell. After it's been on an hour or so, the scent has softened considerably. The rose has taken on a soft, powdery sweetness. The resins and woods are still pretty quiet. All in all, this scent is very soft and pretty.

    Les Bijoux

wet: honey and peaches are what I first smell. Dry: apples come out and join the honey and peaches. Skin musk too. The honey and musk meld but are balanced by the fruits. This is so soft and sexy. This is very much a skin scent and one that would be perfect as a lover kisses the back of your neck. Lovely.

    Kabuki

Cherries, juicy cherries. As it dries, the anise comes out and goes surprisingly well with the cherries. The longer it wears, the more it reminds me of licorice candy. Now the cherry is pretty much gone and this smells like black licorice. I’m not getting any red musk at all. I like the cherry phase of the scent, but once the anise took over that pretty much killed it more me.

    Vampire Tears

In the imp and on the skin, wet: Grapefruit! Dry: Grapefruit, something a bit foody. And lemon. The lemon smells like a lemon tart with a bit of crust, or perhaps a zingy lemon candy. Now this smells like lemon verbena, and it’s overpowering the grapefruit and just about everything else. There’s a touch of ginger there too, it’s not a foody gingerbread spice, but more a raw ginger heat. Now that it’s been on a while, this scent is considerably softer than it was when first applied.

    The Old Lady Scents

event horizon. while this doesn't smell like an old lady to me, it does smell very much like a classic perfume along the lines of chanel #5 or maybe even coco. classic floriental. I think it's gorgeous.

    Queen Gertrude

wet, the first thing I smell is violet. Soft violets. As it dries, it takes on a sharpness and the violet get softer. This smells like jasmine to me. It's quite strong and overpowering all the other notes. It's piercing and shrill. After it's been on 20 -30 minutes or so it calms down considerably. What may be wisteria comes out and just smells purple. The oil smells slightly spicy at this point, along with the sweet, still sharp florals.

    Port Royal

This is a fantastic bay rum/spicy scent. Initially, it was more wood, bay and spice, but the spice and bay quickly overtake the wood on my skin. This is not too sweet and more on the unisex side of scents. Smelling this deeply, this actually reminds me of Russian Tea – cinnamon, clove, tea and orange. This smells so yummy and would make a fabulous room scent. I’ve got that Russian tea association and now that’s all I can smell.

    Mania

From the notes I wasn't sure I'd like this one, but I really should have known better. Wet on the skin, this is soft red musk, something that smells almost like tomato leaf but not as strong, and a light sweetness. As it wears, it gets sweeter. And the red musk gets softer and softer. At this point it is very much a soft, fruity musk, with the emphasis on soft and fruity. This smells very smooth and there's not one sharp thing about this scent. Surprising and very nice! ~~~ edited because of weird random symbols where the apostrophes should be...

    Event Horizon

Oh this is fabulous! Lots of Opium, dark resins, and dark orchid. I have to get a bottle of this! Yeah, these are the resins from Schwarzer Mond. This smells so dark and sexy. This reminds in a way of Dark Delicacies with its resins and orchids, but with lots of opium smoke. Gorgeous!

    Sri Lanka

When this was first released I thought for sure this would be my holy grail. I immediately bought a 10 ml. And didn’t wear it much. It eventually got swapped away. Now after trying it again a couple years later, I realize that I really do like this scent. On the skin, the first thing you smell is wood. Lots of wood. Cedar and a very dry sandalwood. Dry wood is the perfect description for this scent. Underneath the wood, there’s a light smoky incense and that gains in prominence as it wears, becoming equal with the wood. There’s also a slight spice, but not overly so. The more that I smell this I more I am loving this scent. It’s reminds me of an exotic incense and I think this out would be fabulous applied as a perfume spay, room scent, linen spray. I want to smell this all around me. It’s very atmospheric and very evocative. While may not get another bottle I'll be sure to hang onto any imps that come my way.

    The Phantom Wooer

The first thing I smell is lemon. That dominates and obscures the other notes. I was hoping for moonflower, lily, and moss but that’s not what’s happening here. After it’s been on a while, the moonflower comes out and it’s lovely. The lemon is still there but it’s far in the background now. Unfortunately, at this point the oil is very faint and I can barely smell it. Too bad, this phase of the scent was quite nice.

    Fruitcake

Yummy, boozy, fruity cake with a dash of marzipan and spice. It’s the same type of spice as in Trick or Treat, which I just love. There’s a buttery aspect here and also a touch of caramel/treacle. It all melts together and smells so edible and delicious. What a sweet yummy gift for folks from the lab. I’m totally enjoying this and would love to see this reappear as a 2008 Yule.

    Titania

This is a really pretty, sweet, fruity-floral scent. It smells juicy and ripe. I can’t pick out the notes but it smells pretty good. While it’s sweet, it’s also tart and fresh smelling. It’s not changing too much on me, staying a sweet, tart, pretty, fruity-floral. There may be some rose here, peach, grape and melon. This would be a great room scent, although it would have to be light. It’s quite strong and has an edge that I fear would be overwhelming and possibly painful after a while, especially if it was strongly applied/burned. So, in sum, I like it, but I would never wear this.

    Mandrake

Wet on the skin this is all cedar. A very smooth, soft cedar, but cedar none-the-less. There’s something else there smoothing it out but I couldn’t tell you what it is. The oil is light colored/clear in the vial, so I wasn’t expecting it to sit on the skin and be as thick as it is (thick like castor oil). As it dries, there something a bit incensy about this oil. It’s quite lovely – woody, smooth, resinous and soothing. I’ve already got a bunch of wood scents so I really don’t need more, but this one is quite nice.
