I got this in an accidental ebay purchase (as in "wait, you mean I DIDN'T click the link for the auction of Mabon?) and I love it to death. Talk about a happy accident! Bottle: Very crisp, cold, and woodsy, but with a sweet note hovering in the background... almost like walking through the woods on a cold winter day while wearing berry-flavored chapstick. Wet: It gets sweeter and the berries get more prominent. This thrills me to no end, as I love berries. Dry: it transforms into an unusual combination of woods, berries, and light florals. Very sweet, but not at all foody or candy-like. When wearing it, I smell exactly like the Newfane Country Store (in VT) around the holidays. It brings back tons of childhood memories for me. When I got this I was terrified that it would contain vetiver, but thankfully I get none of the Dreaded Vetiver Funk that can happen with my skin chemistry. The woods are softer, more like pine, and the berries sweeten things enough that I don't feel like I'm standing on a pile of wood shavings. I am so glad that I bid on this without checking which link I was following!

I can't say much about the "in the bottle, wet on skin" part that hasn't been said, but on my skin Dorian transforms instantly into the scent of Cadbury mini-eggs! This is my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE candy in the world. I have no idea how milk, vanilla, and tea can turn into chocolate.... but I'm not complaining. I am beyond thrilled by this. I need a bottle right away. EDIT: Merged with existing thread --Shollin

Damn damn damn damn damn! This scent sounded SO wonderful in the description, and all the reviews were loaded with lines like "this startlingly complex scent" and "it keeps changing over time".... to me, my bottle smells like florals spiked with chocolate. On my skin, it's a bouquet of random, nameless flowers. This smell never changes. No chocolate, no incense, no candy.... just plain, dull, predictable flowers for the entire day. My skin makes Dia so boring that it makes me angry. Wearing this scent feels like going on an all expense paid trip around the world and only eating McDonalds in every country. *Sigh* Off to the swap pile it goes. Granted, it's in the "I'll only swap this for an LE bottle of something I absolutely ADORE" part of the pile, but still.

I'm genuinely surprised at how well this scent works on me. I've never been into vanilla-like scents, but this (and Snake Oil) have totally changed my mind. I'm also shocked at the way this scent manages to bottle "sex". It would be creepy if it weren't so amazing! In the bottle, it smelled like pee. Wet, it stayed yellow, but in more of a honeyed way. Dry, it's sweet and sultry, although it smells kind of like someone just had sex with my arm. This is definitely the post-coital version of snake oil - vanilla and honey with an oddly pleasant whiff of crotch-smell. I definitely want a bottle, though I'll be sure not to wear it to work or in the presence of my family. Like a lot of others, I'd be too self-conscious! That, and I'd want to take my fiancé back home.

The name Follow Me Boy was very intruiging to me for no real reason, and when it showed up in a swap package I figured I'd give it a go. I'm too much of a chicken to buy most scents that don't directly have at least some of the notes listed in the description, so I was wary at first. However, this smells really, really, really kickass. I'm not a huge fan of florals... I tend to think they're pretty boring. This one is definitely very floral, but it works somehow and I don't know why. I can smell jasmine, and after that I have no clue what else is in it. It's very sweet, but not sugary or foody. When I smell it I think of walking through a public park at night and passing by a flower-covered bush where two people are furiously making out. I'm going against my usual "anti-floral" pattern and keeping this. If it lasts as long as I hope it does this will be a bottle to save for warm summer nights.

Cathode sounded SO COOL, and I was really looking forward to trying it. I was thrilled to get my hands on it without having to wait a month, and I purposely waited until after I got home from work so I could really pay attention to the way it smelled after a few hours. I am so disappointed to say that it didn't work on me. In the bottle it was very minty and fresh, but with an unrecognizeable tang that I just couldn't place. On my skin it turned into PEPPERMINT EXPLOSION!!!! After a while it cooled down to a pepperminty whiff of ozone and tea. I smelled like a television that just shorted out because someone spilled a cup of iced green tea (with a sprig of peppermint in it). It sounds cool, but smells very weird.... in a bad way. Sadly, this one is going on the swap list. It was worth a shot!

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

I had to add to this month-old thread too. Villain, when on my fiancé, makes me completely wacky. I bought him a 10ml because I LOVE the way it smells on him. It's weird how lavendar on a guy can be such a turn-on. -
I know that there are a million and a half reviews of Snake Oil, but it smells so fantastic that I had to add in my two cents as well. In the bottle: Vanilla, vanilla, vanilla! Normally I hate the too-too-sugary smell of vanilla perfumes/room scents/incense/etc. However, this isn't painfully sugary. Wet: Whoa. Definitely vanilla, but with an incensy touch that saves me from running to the bathroom to wash it off. Dry: Whoa. WHOA. Just.... holy cow. This is an incredibly slinky, sexy scent on me, and I don't often describe myself as sexy. It's very powdery and sweet, but the spice keeps it from becoming a bakery. It's almost like burning incense in the living room while someone is baking cookies in the kitchen. As strange as it sounds, when I wear Snake Oil I feel the strong urge to lick my arm. Mmmmmmm!

I got this one as a bonus in a swap after having ordered it from the lab. I'm glad that it got tossed in, because I need more! This imp is already half gone and I've had it for about a week now. I swear, I could pretty much drink this scent I love it so much!!! In the bottle: very earthy and damp, like my backyard after a ferocious thunderstorm. Freshly applied: my skin immediately takes those "dirt" notes and amplifies them by ten. This is a good thing for me - I love love love the smell of freshly turned earth and/or mud more than anything... I used to wear "Dirt" by Demeter almost constantly before I found BPAL. Dry: the roses come out at last! I smell exactly like the description on the site, and I'm thrilled. The roses aren't too sweet - they definitely smell like decayed, dried-out roses that have been locked in a tomb for years. I smell musty, earthy, and a wee bit creepy... and I can't stop smelling my arm! I need a 10ml bottle ASAP, because these imps will be gone very, very soon. This scent lasts all day on me. I wore it yesterday and didn't have to reapply once - it stayed strong from ten AM until ten PM. There is only one downside to this scent: I keep having Zombie nightmares because I keep working this scent into conversation.

This is another scent that I shared with my fiancé. It's amazing how different out body chemistry is, because it smells lousy on me, but great on him. Life is SO unfair! In the bottle Very peppery! I get a whiff of the cinnamon right away, and I want to stick my tongue in the vial. On me Oh hell no. The "red hot" smell disappears instantly and all I can smell is an overwhelming aroma of sea salt. It's like I've been soaking in a bathtub filled with seawater and dissolving red hots. While it could be worse, it could be a whole lot better. On him His skin brings out all of the good stuff! Cinnamon with a touch of pepper to keep him from smelling like a candy store. I definitely get a "firey rage" thing here, and I so wish it had the same effect on my skin. Overall, we'll keep this imp so he can wear it. I am so jealous. EDIT(4/7/05): My body chemistry must have been wacky when I posted this review. I LOVE WRATH ON ME!!!! My wish came true... it DOES do everything on me that it does on him. Pepper, cinnamon, and spice. I bought a bottle and I'm in love.

I got this one for free as part of my first order, and while not too into food scents, I thought I'd give it a go. In the bottle It smells very..... foody. I'm not completely excited, but I am pleasantly surprised - I smell a popcorn stand that is parked right outside a very upscale pastry shop on a warm day. On me SO GROSS! It immediately turns into charred caramel corn on my skin and gets stronger with every passing minute. Even my cat hated it - he hopped on my lap for some snuggly-time, and when I reached out my hand for him to smell he freaked out and ran to the other end of the apartment. After about 20 minutes, I couldn't take it anymore and tried to wash it off. It took me several thorough soakings to get the smell out. Talk about powerful! All in all, I would love to get this one to a happy home. It's smelling up my living room, and the cat now hates me.

I bought an imp for myself and instantly fell in love. I love more masculine scents on me (I even wear men's deodorant) so this was definitelty a winner. I shared it with my fiancé, and it smelled even better on him! Onto the details: In the bottle Very sharp and strong. Almost too strong to pick out any of the individual notes. On me WHOA. I love love love this. At first the lime and lavendar stand out like crazy. I love both, so this is a great thing. They fade over time, blending into this very green, crisp smell that's hard to pick apart. Definitely masculine, but in a very refined way... while the time period isn't quite right, I get a strong visual of Mr. Darcy as played by Colin Firth in the BBC version of Pride and Predjudice. The phrase "only a real man can wear ruffles" comes to mind. On him ..... less talk. More naked. While my fiancé isn't really a ruffles kind of guy, it still has that dignified, well-dressed man effect. His body chemistry brings out more of the muskiness and lavendar than mine - when we both have it on we smell very different. We need a 10ml of this one because I think we might fight for the remainder of this imp... Overall, this is a very sexy scent. We both love it.

My first order, first bottle, and definitely my first love. I might need a 10ml of this one because I can easily see the 5ml going very quickly. In the bottle Wonderfully musty! I'm one of those weirdos who loves "basement" smells, and this smells like the basement of a weird old lady who lives in the creepy old house at the top of the hill. Freshly applied Yes! I'm completely nuts about this already. It's still quite musty, but more in a cave-like way. Very wet and earthy with a hint of old incense, but fruity enough to keep from smelling like a head shop. Dry It just gets better as it dries, and it lasts all day on me. While the scent definitely gets sweeter and the grape becomes more prominent, it never crosses into "Smuckers" territory. The longer I wear it, the more I picture sitting in a cave during a rainstorm while reading old books. Overall, I couldn't be more thrilled with this scent. I want to fill the tub with it and stay there all day. I can't stop smelling my wrists... I even fell asleep with my face up against my arms! I want more. Much, much more.
