On me this is an uber minty white floral. After a hour or 2 some sweetness resides, and subtle green and woodsy smells emerge. Later it's kind of fruity. I am not sure if I like this or not. I really liked it when it was a green & woodsy minty floral. But that fruitness isn't really me. I have hopes that aging this will kill the fruity flower and deepen the sandalwood.

This was one I so wanted to love with gorgeous notes and a great story. To start with it is beautiful bitter almond and jasmine. During drydown I get a little yummy fig, incense, patchouli, saffron, and cinnamon. But this blend fades to powder quickly, and has a very low throw. Someday I will try to age this to get the incense and patchouli stronger, so there is not such a powder drydown. As it was I saved the bottle of this I had sprung on unsniffed by mixing in a little Anny Bonny. To add insult to injury, on top of the nummy notes not lasting, with the sweet powdery drydown I had a few people ask if I was wearing Chanel.

On me, this was a crisp, clean, soapy rose. Nice enough, but not something I would wear.

    Dove's Heart

This was pretty soft florals, nice but not me.

    Kabuki

On me this was cherry flavored cough syrup.

    The Temptation

This was a beautiful, ultra feminine floral scent that's just not me.

    Jabberwocky

This is a little too strong on the pine for me to really enjoy as a perfume, but it sure does clean the sinuses!

    Tzadikim Nistarim

On me, this was very citrus, fruity. Pretty, but not astounding and not really me.

    O

The scent of sexual obsession, slavery to sensual pleasure, and the undercurrent of innocence defiled utterly. Amber and honey with a touch of vanilla. On me this is sweet and musky, and could be interpreted as certain bodily fluids. After a couple of hours it dries down to a sweet almond.

    The Hanging Gardens

On me, this is a heady floral with the fruits way, way in the background mostly indistinguishable. I thought pretty, but not me. Well I dug it out of a drawer 3 months later, and thought I'd try it again. That time I got juicy pears, and tart pomegranates at the forefront, with some fig and the florals underneath the fruit. Well I thought, that was yummy but still not really me. I hope with some more age, the woods will come out and the fruits will stay strong but not turn sour.

On me, this becomes a lovely spicey amber. But my disapointment that this did not stay ginger snaps, like it was in the bottle and on me for 15 minutes or so, will never go away. Never. Ever. I love Lovecraft but the thought of smelling of "satanic ginger snaps" got me to buy a 5ml of this unsniffed. I kept slathering on more every 30 min.s or so to keep smelling like ginger snaps. After a week and a half or so of being nearly saturated in this stuff, totally fed up I decided to use it as a room scent and I also poured some in the bottom of the garbage cans in my house. And OMG, our garbage cans always smell heavenly when they get emptied. The amber is aging so well, I am kicking myself for not saving that bottle to age it some first before giving up on it. With age, this is a gorgeous rich spiced amber. I will invest on a bottle to age sooner or later.

It seems to be the consensus on the board that treacle can equal burnt plastic, and sadly that's what this did on me. To start with I get sugar and delicous apple, then burnt plastic. It takes a good hour for the plastic smell to die down. Then I get sugary, spicy carnation with enough wafts of burnt plastic here and there to be unpleasant.

    Othello

On me, "I am super rose. I shall kill all those musks and spices that dare oppose me" or something. This seems to be a single rose accord, that turns a smidge soapy. This one will be saved for layering, if I decide some blend could use some rose.

    Lady Una

On me, this is blackberry/ musk initially, then saccharine/ vanilla honey blackberry with a musk that comes & goes. Summery, young, fun, gourmand, with enough musk here and there to keep it from going little girl. This is juicy ripe blackberries covered in honey with vanilla ice cream, and a touch of your golden musky skin warmed by the sun while you picked those blackberries. Whatever you do don't wear this in the sweltering heat, I did and it about made me sick. Too cloying for really hot days, but lovely for early summer, and autumn. I really like this, but I don’t love it. It could use a little more golden musk. When the musk is equal with the vanilla honey blackberries, it's perfect. But when it decides to go away for a bit this become a little too gourmand for me. This is my first foray into gourmand, well since girlhood when I wore cotton candy and fruity body sprays, and now I'm pretty sure I can pull them off when they are paired with something else. Since I wasn't here when single notes were around, and since they aren't around now I don't feel quite so blasphemous to suggest I might pair Lady Una with a little Egyptian Goddess, instead of lamenting over not having one of Beth's golden musk single notes to layer with.

    Machu Picchu

Sweet tropical fruits burst through deep, wet rainforest boughs, enormous steamy blossoms, over thin mountaintop breezes, mingled with the soft, rich golden scent of Peruvian amber. On me this was a pretty, well blended oil with rainforest greenery, flowers, and that bizarre breeze note, with indistinguishable fruit and amber. But tropical isn't really me. And after several hours of wearing, I get just a hint of bugspray. I'm pretty sure artificial breeze note + tropical greens+ hot house blooms are the culprits.

    To a Woman

A lovely frimp from the lab, On me this is patchouli/ rose sexy bliss. I don't really get anything woody or green. Those notes must be underneath and supporting the patchouli and rose otto. This is one of the richest, smoothest least dirty patchouli I have ever smelled. Comforting and sexy at the same time- that's the best kind of perfume.

    Kitsune-Tsuki

This is a heady floral bouquet thats pretty, but just not me. And many floral bouquet perfumes can give me a headache when worn too heavily or with BPAL specifically when sniffed at frequently to check how it's morphing and this demonic fox babe is included.

    Tezcatlipoca

With cocoa, patchouli, leather, & incense I had to try this. And I wanted to love it. I really wanted to wear the perfume of an Aztec God. But on me, it smells like a slaughterhouse with a chocolate undercurrent. The strong musky patchouli mixes with the leather to produce an animalistic funk that does not belong in a perfume.

    Nuit

This sounded lovely- white musk, white florals, incense. A perfect light summer fragrance. But on me, this was bugspray. Heady sweet jasmine for about an hour and then the bugspray smell starts to creep in. I am pretty sure the sweaty smelling moss + the heady sweet jasmine are the culprits. From reading other reviews, it seems that this combo turns scents into bugspray on some other people as well.

On me, the green/ earthy bay & laurel is strong for an hour or two. It’s interesting, nice, but I’m not sure I want to smell like it. Then honey wine with incense takes front stage over bay & laurel, with the wine note coming and going. I don’t really like the wine note, too fruity/ tangy, it distracts me from enjoying the honey and incense. After a few more hours it is mainly honeyed incense that’s heaven, with subdued bay and laurel and the wine note occasionally poping in. After 9 hours the honey is still there- sweet, powdery, sweaty maybe this is the “post- coital” smell reviewers get from O. This stage is gorgeous sexy. I decided to age it to see if the wine note would die, or at least back down and to let the incense and honey get stronger. **After aging my imp 6 weeks, the honey and incense is there in the first stage with the laurel and bay. And as before the honey and incense become more prominent after a couple of hours of wear. And the wine note is undetectable! The laurel and bay have also really grown on me. This is divine and totally wearable. The honeyed incense just needs to get a little stronger with age. This is so evocative of a ancient Greek temple.

    The Lady of Shalott

On me, this is all Lily of the valley (Muguet)/ soft florals (water blossoms) with nothing aquatic, and no white musk. This is an ultra feminine floral thats pretty, but just not me. After 1 hour a dry woody/ peppery smell which must be the white ginger emerges to chill lily out some, but this stays primarily jasmine- esque sweet lily/ soft floral with maybe a hint of gardenia that is baking soda- esque. (Dried gardenias do kinda have a baking soda- esque smell to them.) I was hoping this would turn out fresh blooming gardenias with white musk and the tart aquatic note. I might try this again eventually, to see if anything aquatic comes out. Maybe it needs more age with my skin chemistry.

This smells like a real thunderstorm: rain, fresh air, wet dirt and grass, and a touch of white florals. First try with a smear on the back of my hand I did get something clean, soapy, laundry detergent w/ a touch of thunderstorm. Second wear applied heavier on my pulse points, I got real thunderstorm-totally awesome, weird, evocative, lovely- w/ just a touch of soap/ detergent. After about 6 weeks of aging my imp the dirt/ grass notes get stronger, leaving even less an impression of soap/ detergent. So aging definately makes it smell more like a real thunderstorm. Not an everyday scent, but definitely need a bottle of this for Spring/ Summer. A wonderful light fragrance, that isn’t too feminine. Perfect for sweltering hot days. Or for when it's thunderstorming, to smell like the weather. [Edited to add this] The quote below was snatched from Demeter's description of their fragrance Thunderstorm. This is what I was trying to get at about being like a real thunderstorm, especially when the dirt/ grass notes get stronger with age. Cause it's the dirt/ grass notes that make it thunderstorm. "Have you ever considered the olfactory side of rain? You know it's coming, you can smell it in the air. It does seem that on summer days when it is hot and dry, with a thunderstorm brewing just over the next hill, you can `smell the rain.’ Well, you can smell something, but rain? Have you ever tried to smell this same rain in January when the ground is frozen solid? Not a chance, but when the ground and plants are warmer, you can smell something. What you really smell comes not from the air, but the ground! Plants release oils that enter the soil and blend with the other earthy odors. These odors are released into the air when the relative humidity at ground level exceeds 75 percent. Moist humid air will transmit odors far better than dry air. In these moist humid conditions we notice these odors more readily. And since rain is so often connected with moist humid air, we tend to associate one with the other. "

    Anne Bonny

Anne Bonny is the perfume that took my BPAL viginity. It is extremely sexy, smoldering temptress on me. Confidence inspiring, libido lifting, feminine wiles enhancer. The red patchouli, red sandalwood, and frankincense are perfect together. I cannot say how much I love this fragrance.

    Phantom Queen

First of all I love the myths of Morrigan, so I had to try this perfume. For 1-2 hours all I get is black orchid, then a close to skin green smell- with moss being the only note I can really detect. Sweet powdery nothing by hour 7. The grass/ clover field notes aren't prominent enough for me to detect. I really want to love this perfume. I think a reformulation is in order. The field notes should be stronger. Also black orchid is lovely enough a scent but it's not me and not really sexy enough for a fertility/ warrior goddess. I think amber or/and a golden musk should take black orchid's place. Anybody with me?

    Dana O'Shee

Dana O' Shee is a beautiful milk, honey, and oatmeal combo. The story behind it bought me the most on getting me to try it out. Beth gets me with the mythic perfumes. But sadly, I don't think I can wear this perfume because it reminds me of a milk and honey handsoap my family used to use all the time. I loved the handsoap when we used it. I enjoyed soaking in a bath with a few drops of Dana O' Shee in it. But when I wear it all I can think is that I'm covered in that milk and honey handsoap. It really distracts my Virgo/OCD mind to think I have handsoap all over me. Don't get me wrong there's no traditional soapy element to this perfume, it's just the milk/ honey combo. Other people liked this perfume on me. Nobody got the handsoap connection. Just me. I really wanted to love this perfume.
