    Pride

Another one that smelled pretty much exactly like rosewater on me ... nice smell, but that's why I keep a quart of rosewater around. Swapping it to a rose lover whose skin hopefully allows other notes to peek through every once in a while.

    Deep in Earth

I think the name pretty much sums this one up. It did what it was supposed to do. I wanted to try it. Now that my curiosity is satisfied, I realize smelling like the walking dead is really an acquired taste. And that I'm beginning to lean more and more towards smelling like chocolate and cake and vanilla and flowers ... but it is really cool. I'm kind of torn about parting with it, but I know I probably won't wear it often so I'll let it go to someone who will give it more love.

    Vampire Tears

Didn't do it for me. It was citrusy and herby for a while, the heat did awful things to it, it came to once I was back in a cool place, all cherry, and then it just sort of faded back to a fainter herby citrus. Swap.

    Zombi

This was fantastic on my skin. My friend who gave it to me said it made her smell like she'd crawled out of her grave, located in a damp cave. On me it bloomed into complex beautiful florals. One of my favorites, after trying it a second time, I'll definitely consider a bottle of this.

    Jazz Funeral

Very citrusy, grassy orange on me. It didn't morph much over the couple of hours I gave it. Didn't get the boozyness described in the notes. Swapping it.

    Wolfsbane

It smelled leathery on me, and I picked up leathery on my friend also - she loves this scent. She claims to not smell leather. After many hours it bloomed into something more complicated and floral, but it really took a long time. I'd rather stick with scents that give me a nice ride at least most of the way through.

    Saturnalia

My boyfriend kicked me out of bed for this one. To me it smelled like Malediction. All I got was vetiver, strong, earthy, vetiver. The violet got lost, maybe adding a bit of shading to distinguish it from Malediction but definitely not playing a leading role. My boyfriend could smell the violet. And he loves violet scents, I hunt them down just for him. But this one was too strong. I was banished to the other room. So I'll be swapping it.

    High John the Conqueror

It didn't really smell like much on me. Faint green if I sniffed really hard. Maybe my nose was tired and overwhelmed but all in all, I'm putting this one in the swap pile without the slightest hesitation.

    Whip

Agony and ecstasy: black leather and damp red rose. At first its all dark leather, but good leather, deep not dull and flat. Then suddenly the rose blooms. My skin has a tendency to amp rose a lot so it kind of overwhelms the scent but I didn't give it a full day test. I think that if they were to blend over the day it would be magnificent. I think its amazing how the rose scent just blooms out from under the leather, its a perfect example of how BPAL scents morph and I would recommend it to those new to BPAL just because its such a clear stark contrast of scents, at least in how it develops on me.

    Wanda

This is kind of what I wanted O to be. With all my "it smells like leather" posts today, funny that the one scent that actually contains a leather note smells like spiced honey. Sometimes I'm really glad I go by my nose rather then the listed notes, because the listed notes kind of make me feel like I might be crazy. As it dries down I can smell the florals making their appearance. Lovely. Don't think I'd go for a bottle but I'd keep imps that came my way.

    O

I'm going to try aging my imps. When I tried it it smelled like I'd taken a jar of honey and rubbed it on my skin. It was overwhelming and cloying. I'm hoping the honey mellows and the scents blend over time. I still have hope for O.

    Black Lotus

Born in the shadows of a Temple to Set, this corrupted Egyptian scent evokes images of black pyramids, river demons, and bleak, deadly desert sands. Black lotus flower, amber, myrrh and sandalwood. I tried two imps of this. One judging by the color was older. I really liked that one. It was rich, deep, dark, complex. I woke up the next day still smelling like lotus, with no trace of powder. The fresher imp, or the imp that was lighter in color, just turned cloyingly sweet and then yucky powdery. I don't know if it was age or different batches or just my own hormones but I definitely had wildly different experiences with this one.

    Blood Lotus

The lotus just isn't coming through for me. For a second when its wet I can smell it but it quickly dries down to a musty leatherish smell and stays that way. How does lotus end up smelling like leather? Sometimes my skin is highly confusing ...

    Sin

Another scent I was so looking forward to destroyed on my skin by patchouli. Why??? Patchouli seems to be my arch nemesis in Beth's scents sadly ... because some days I'm a girl who really feels like wearing Sin. Guess I'll have to stick with Lust and Ravenous and Lilith for my dark, naughty, mischievous moods.

    Masquerade

Patchouli, patchouli, patchouli. I was hoping the carnation would come through and save it but no such luck.
