Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
gingiemay replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
I'm new here too. Actually I'm still waiting for my first order to arrive. Does this means if I receive the CnS today and I should expect them to send it out the latest in 21 business days? I ordered on April 16, and because I think it was normal to wait that long, I didn't enquire about my package until last week. They told me they already have sent the package out. They told me my package must be lost, but I told them the package didn't even leave US (I'm an international customer). All this while I was frequently checking the status in CnS to see if the package have been shipped out but the status just says 'Electronic Shipping Info Received'. Anyway they send me another CnS dated June 29. I'm a bit antsy cuz the status in CnS is still 'Electronic Shipping Info Received'. I'm new here too. Turnaround Time, or TAT, means that it will take 14-21 business days after your place your order for it to be shipped. Once you receive a CnS, it means your order either was shipped that same day or will go out the next business day. Unfortunately, the USPS does not provide tracking once a package has left the US. 'Electronic Shipping Info Received' is often the only message that you will receive from the post office. You should check with customs on your side to see if anything has arrived for you. Given that you are in Malaysia, customs may be confused by your package as I imagine not very much BPAL/perfume oil passes through their hands. -
Three white musks with poppy and patchouli. In the bottle the white musk is very strong and there is a sharp scent of fresh patchouli. I get no pomegranate or poppy at all. Upon application, for about 10 minutes there is a strong scent of cedar or wooden pencils, very similar to Cathedral. However, after the dry down I get a beautiful sweetened white musky, pomegranate-y mixture with the heavier, dirt-like hint of patchouli grounding it. This smells really yummy on me! What a pleasant surprise!

There is definitely cake-y/foodie/vanilla element happening, but I don't get any fruits at all. Instead I get a patchouli/earthy note that is similar to Snake Oil. It's delicious, but I am quite pleased as I usually can't wear foodie scents and this somehow transcends the border between sexy earthy and foodie.

This is a fresh and clean scent with an element of clean linens, however I get the cucumber/melon note that some people have been mentioning and it is a little bit cloying to my nose.

The white rose seemed thin and powdery to me, and the coconut turned sour. The first time I tried it I got a fearsome headache. Thankfully my skin seemed to drink it up and it was gone after two hours or so. I'm sad I struck out on the Rose set because I loved the idea and hoped to blend the two, alas it was not meant to be.
-
This just didn't work on me, the rose was wilted and oppressive and the tobacco just smelled like cigarettes instead of the rich layering I get from Mictecuacihuatl.

Snowblind is a thick, delicious and yummy vanilla. It reminds me of really quality vanilla extract, in that it's not overly sugar sweet, but has that wonderful bouquet of tasty vanilla. The mint on me is very, very light and that fades soon after application. Strangely, I am enjoying layering this with Putrefaction v. 5.0.

Me too! Me too! Do we know who the artist is? Beth said elsewhere that it was Jennifer Williamson. Jennifer, can you please put the artwork on your website a la Carnaval Diabolique? Or, maybe we can get a little Salon Exhibit type thing?

I want prints of them! They are gorgeous... ugh now I want to order... all of them.

Upon first application, this smells like leather, tonka and I get a distinct woody overtone. After drydown, the woodiness has disappeared and I'm left with a gorgeous, sexy and relatively manly leather/tonka blend that almost gets musky. I don't get any parchment or incense but I don't mind. This could work well for a man or a woman, but as a woman I'd wear it on badass days, like when I have to chop wood for the fire or something like that.

I love to wear the Yules around Christmas time because they are so evocative of the season! Giant Vulva is definitely one of my go-to scents for *ahem* those kinds of special occasions, plus it always gets a laugh out of anyone involved in the sniffing. I also recently wore Dog Days of Summer to see a baseball game as it seemed very appropriate. It also reminds me of going on safari as I wore in in January when I was last in Africa and it was the rainy season, so the savanna and high veldt were very grassy.
-
This is a masculine, musky, sexy scent with metallic overtones. A woman can wear it but I feel as if I've snuck my lover's shirt to wear and can smell him on the shirt.

I love the Lilith and the Jerocho bottle, it's adorable!

Wet in bottle - Oh, amazing... apples, smoke, musk, myrrh and hawthorne. Wet on skin - Apples and myrrh, with a smoky musk. I get a tiny bit of patchouli, but it's very mild. Simply delightful. Dry on skin - A beautiful mix of smoke, musk and apples. There is a bit of patchouli but it's light and not overwhelming. I sadly don't get any almond.
-
It smells very strongly of patchouli in the bottle, but upon application the smoke-scarred sandalwood comes to the forefront and smells kind of like dry sticks. I really wanted the patchouli, sage and tea to come out but instead it's tobacco and sticks. I think in an oil burner it would be pleasant but on me it's not so much.

Wet in bottle - A delicious musky amber tinged with cinnamon, cherry blossom and tangerine. A tiny undertone of tea swirls through as well. Wet on skin - The cherry blossom comes to the front and chokes everything, but this is a short lived phenomenon. The cinnamon stings a bit, but settles soon after application. Dry on skin - A fantastic spicy, ambery, cinnamony deliciousness. The tea forms a strong foundation, which makes this the only amber note that I've found that works on me. So tasty and sexy, I just love it!

Wet in imp - Fresh aquatic notes with a hint of creaminess. Wet on skin - A soapy aquatic with the undertone of creaminess from the imp Dry on skin - A soft and pleasant scent, with the soapiness of the aquatic notes calmed down and the milk note has bloomed a little richer. Very fresh and nice for summer.

Here are some photos of what the labels from the Cobwebs event look like... apologies for my iPhone and computer camera. I'm sure someone with a really nice camera (Femme_Fatale most likely ) will post higher res ones, but here's a tantalizing taste! The "Vintage" label Prototypes, Coded are in Blue and Named are in Red Also, the Room Sprays

It just looks SO YUMMY!

I've taken BPALs in both imps and bottles on the plane for domestic and international flights, but always in my "liquids" ziplock. I've never had a problem with them. The imps were in my metal imp case and did not cause the TSA or security to blink at all. This transportation method has worked in South Africa and China in terms of international. My contact lens solution did get busted by Chinese security officers, but I made a lot of noise about it being medicine and they let it through.

Wet in bottle - A yummy coconut, hibiscus, papaya, pineapple cocktail. It's what I hoped it would be, the perfect summer scent! Wet on skin - A fun, fruity, tropical coconut explosion. It smells like summer cocktails on the beach in Maui. Dry on skin - Sweet vanilla tropical fruits. Yummm!
-
Wet in bottle - I get the king mandarin, black vanilla, a hint of vetiver and some star anise. I don't get any musk at all. Wet on skin - Mandarin is booming out. It is overpowering almost everything else except for a tiny bit of vanilla. Dry on skin - The dark musk is finally out and proud. It does smell like men's cologne, as some reviewers have mentioned, but I do get the vanilla and the mandarin. I want to let this sit a little before rejecting.
-
Wet in bottle - Skin musk and sugarcane blossom. Similar to Giant Vulva but without the lemon/beeswax smell. Wet on skin - A light, floral skin musk. Very feminine. I am getting the tinge of soapiness that some reviewers have experienced but I am hoping it will settle when dryer. Dry on skin - A very feminine, floral skin musk. It's not SEX like Giant Vulva is on me. I'm not sure if I will keep it, although I might let my roommate try as she likes more "girly" scents and this comes off as quite girly.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v1
gingiemay replied to awesomeoverlord's topic in Limited Editions
CLCCXCIII (I think? The label is all smudgey) Wet in bottle - Another CT bottle full to the brim. I get very little Dorian and a bit of apple, with maybe some acquatic undertones. Wet on skin - Apple and something else that is fruity/minty. There is the tiniest hint of Dorian's lemon/tea note at the bottom. This reminds me more of Gennivre instead of Dorian. There could be jasmine in here because I just got the faintest whiff of cat pee. Dry on skin - A more floral Dorian. I will have to let this sit to see if it changes a little. I'm not 100% in love with it yet. -
Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self Similarity v4

DCCXXXIII Wet in bottle - This bottle was absolutely full to the BRIM. Madness. Ok, in the bottle there is definitely snake oil, but it's a mild base, similar to the Snake Pit blends I have tried. I get maybe some frankinsence and linden blossom. It smells very similar to Temple Viper, actually. Wet on skin - Snake Oil and something else that's a little bit sharper. It smells very familiar to me, like a sharp Temple Viper, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I do love it though! Dry on skin - Wow! This is a really similar blend to Temple Viper, but the vanilla is really strong and yummy. This kind of skips the aging process of Snake Oil and gets you there immediately. I'm in lurrrrve.
