    Zorya

In the bottle a beautiful oriental jasmine On the florals are all so pretty seperately and together 30 minutes A sit dries it gets that lotus-y, almost smokiness on me quite a bit. So now the same floral combination is underneath the smokiness. Throw: average Scent category: floral/far eastern Summary This a beautiful new alternative for one looking for a new good bpal floral, especially for folks who typically don't like florals much. It's a oriental spices, soft, fresh floral. I don't know how that works but it is all the same. Purchase again? No. It's pretty but I like Salome better. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 3.5

    Thirteen (13)

~13~ In our paean to all the mysteries surrounding this enigmatic number, there are thirteen lucky and unlucky components, including white chocolate, tangerine, currant, mandarin, white tea and iris. In the bottle definitely a cake and orange smell On Oh God. Those of you who know how much I like chocolate orange won't be suprised at my review. It smells like "Terry's" Chocolate orange, but more bakery smell. It's passed the "10 second morphing into someting horribly floral" rule. 30 minutes I don't smell any large amount of floral. I think there's some under the aforementioned smells but it's nothing that is noticeable to me. I think this is what people who though Spooky a bit "too" something would like. Throw: average Scent category: citrus/foody Summary Foody. Chocolate cake with orange sauce. Lush lovers will find this of similar category to "Whipstick", "Sonic Death Monkey", "Heavenly Bodies". Purchase again? Yes. I'm glad I got 2 bottles. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 3.5 I wouldn't wear it all the time, but I like this.

    Gomorrah

In the bottle Yummy. I smell dark reds and violets, bordeaux wine, polished gold cups, incense, blood on steel swords, swollen fruits, sex, drunkiness, decadence. On It's fabulous. And the fig is rocking this blend. This is so dead on to what one would imagine gomorrah to smell like. As it starts to dry the succulent fig and black herbs are in the forefront and comingling very well. It's awesome. 30 minutes The fig is still there, it hasn't morphed a whole bunch. Now I smell ripe drunken fruits left in ceramic pots to cure in the cool night air while gamblers, grifters and ladies of the evening eye their next chosen, who drift in the dark smokey, lecherous, alleyway. Throw: bit more than average Scent category: foody/herby and I don't even know what else. Summary Whether you love the way this blend sounds or hate the way it sounds, you must get some. If one wants a sniff of what Gomorrah smells like, this is it. Purchase again? God yes. A 5ml. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4.5

    Kyoto

In the bottle Oh goodness, cherry blossom and a tittch of anise. Fabulous On oh man this is good. it not only smells like cherry blossom, it smells like cherries. It's medium light in strength and it just gives me this vision of pink fluffy flowers. The anise is ever so light, not ike in Kabuki or anything. The sandalwood is also barely nocieable on me. They just lend some body and backbone to the little eairy pinkness. That said, this is a very airy blend. I don't find an "airy" blend too often, alot of fiery, earthy and watery...but this is great. 30 minutes The anise has gotten stronger at about 10 minutes on actually. But it's still wonderful, it's not as fluffy, light and pink now, it's more of a dark pink with the anise, almost like a sexy berry cocktail. Throw: average Scent category: floral/foody/fruity Summary Kyoto is at it's best immediately on and/or after it has dried. The middle part has it morphing around a bit. This less foody and just a touch more perfumey than Kabuki. I love this much more than Kabuki, it's lighter, and not quite as strong. That said, this blend does indeed get stronger as it dries. But when it dries completely, like after 30 minutes, it turns to a quite beautiful, deeper, sexy, cherry blossom. For you Lush folks this blend would go well with "Skin Sin" lotion. Purchase again? Definitely. This is the best cherry or cherry blossom I've tried to date. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4.5

    Neo-Tokyo

In the bottle Nice, fruity and bright. On It has that nice "Empyreal Mist" watery, "clean" ozone smell combined with some nice fruitiness. Not orange and lemon but more exotic fruits. 30 minutes It hasn't changed at all. Throw: a bit more than average. Scent category: Fruity/aqua Summary It's very pretty and refreshing. It's a bright blend that conjures up everything that's in the site description. Purchase again? Yes, it's a nice blend, especially for the Summer. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4

    Cairo

In the bottle Scrummy. Fruity and resiny, with a teeny bit of floral. On Oh my, this is so edible. I expected more of a camphor smell with the Kephri blend, this is nice though. I swear I smell chocolate. Maybe it's coffee. Almost like a Sugar Skull kind of brown sugar but not quite. And then some lemony orange fruit goodness with some resin incensey in there too. 30 minutes The sweetness goes away quite a bit on me, now the fruitiness is more lime-ish, which doesn't go so well with the coffee smell as the orangeyness did. Okay, there's the Kephri scent now! It took a long time to get there. Yep. That nice herbal in Kephri that helps one breathe easier, it's like camphor or eucalyptus-y? That goes much better with the lime quality of the fruitiness then just the coffee maple syrup smell alone did. Throw: a bit more than average. Scent category: fruity/resin-incense-y Summary You have to have an appreciation of the egyptian incense "Kephri" to enjoy this I think. What a rollercoaster of a scent. At first it's great and chocolate orange and amber. Then it's lime and maple syrup with coffee. Then it's Kephri incense blend and lime This is a strong-ish blend so those of you that don't like strong fruity or strong fruity floral should proceed with caution. There's definitely a Kephri type blend in there towards the end. Purchase again? Yes I think so. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 3.5 - 4 Can't decide just yet. If my skin could keep the orangey, the sweet resinous quality and the Kephri goodies together, oy, it would be perfect.

    The Apothecary

In the bottle Beautiful fresh clean sweet light floral On Wow, this is really, really pretty. When I sniff for individual notes I can definitely get the grass and tea leaf. The mosses, fig and ginger don't stand out as individualists to me. They blend seemlessly to create an ever so slight sweet note with lots of body which supports the green grass and tealeaf notes perfectly. This is so hard to describe. But trust (as I did) it's gorgeous. 30 minutes Another hit that doesn't morph at all on me, it stays as lovely as it was when first on. It's just less intense smelling of course. That said, it has more staying power than average. Throw: a bit more than average Scent category: herbal/green 9with a bit of sweetness and something that smells floral but isn't) Summary My goodness, this doesn't smell as one would think when looking at the ingredients. It smells like a fine perfume by a french parfumiere, an older one, perhaps "Joy" but maybe fresher and greener. Purchase again? God yes. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 5

Figs and Fig Scents - alone and in combos

I like Carnal and Eden but I'd pick Hetairae for my fig fix.

    Luna

In the bottle Something aquatic, pretty. Soft and still yet bright. On A wonderfully feminine blend. Not particularly floral hough there are some florals in here, maybe jasmine. It's light and aquatic but not in a "Hymn" way. This has got some body to it. I swear there's white lotus in here but I couldn't tell ya for sure. Jasmine for sure and maybe some Honeysuckle or Almond? I also think I smell Eucalyptus? Lily? Mugwort? Dunno. 30 minutes Doesn't morph much, it turns a little dusty on me (as lotus does on me) but this is slight and doesn't interfere with the overall beauty of the blend. It's along the same scent "vibe" as Blue Moon but less outward. No cucumber as in Blue Moon, this is more still and inward than Blue Moon. Throw: Average Scent category: Aquatic floral Summary This is a beautiful scent that is as wearable as it is a "working" blend. Definitely a "Yin" blend...but with some presence and it has the desired effect one would expect from a Lunar blend. Purchase again? Yes indeed. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 5

    Mercury

In the bottle Wow, sparkly. for those who get colors, this is a colorful little blend. On Very different. It's eucalyptus or mint-like with a bit of cinnamon, lavender and maybe a tad of licorice or anise. It's fresh, spicy and almost foody...but not quite. It's like mixing lavender and mint with some cinnamon, and a touch of anise. It sounds weird, but it's rather nice. I can't stop sniffing my wrist. 30 minutes It has staying power. It hasn't diminished in scent at 30 minutes. Throw: average throw Scent category: spicy/herby Summary The three main scent components; lavender, cinnamon and licorice are blended rather well, you can pull them each apart with your nose but they work well with each other, complimenting or augmenting each other, not vying for attention in a loud manner. Good staying power. Purchase again? Yes. It's a different blend that is particularly "alive". A great blend for meditating on the qualities of Mercury. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4

    Ace of Swords

In the bottle green/floral On Lovely light lavender. Smells like a bath bomb I used to love called Ickle Baby Baff, my kids relaxed with it when they were babies. It's mostly herby lavender, bright and clean, and a titch of a sweet smell in the back, chamomile? Yarrow? Eucalyptus too maybe? I also smell sandalwood but very lightly. 30 minutes It gets a tad sweeter as it dries, which is lovely. I always get disappointed with lavender blends because the glorious lavender scent doesn't last on my skin. Not so with Ace of Swords. I'm surprised at this since it's not the strongest lavender bpal blend I've tried. I am happy about that though. I mean most blends are way faded by this time, not so with this at all. Throw: average Scent category: herby Summary It's lovely, soft, dreamy and airy. It's one of the softer lavender bpal blends I've tried. Good for sleeping I think. It's also a perfect repsentation for the East corner too. Very cleansing to the head. It' also gives me a floaty feeling, even more so than Quietude did. Very nice. This reacts wonderfully with my skin chemistry. Purchase again? Yes. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4.5

Chaos Theory II : The Butterfly Effect

Chaos Theory CXL-140 In the bottle Rasberry and orange? OMG. On Good lord It's rasberry with a bit of "Jailbait' like bubblegum-ness, but much lither. It's got neroli for days too. So it's a berry-ish citrus. Very much like a pink lime-ade. 30 minutes Is getting more citrus as it dries. The bubblegum scent has faded but the berry is still there. Yep rasberry limeade. Throw: more than average Scent category: Fruity Summary More sweet and rasberry in the begininng and as it dries it is more lime and less rasberry. Very good staying power too. Purchase again? Yes! 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4.5 Chaos Theory CLII-152 In the bottle Lime! Oh my, it's not just lime, it's LIME! So refreshing, with citronella, lemongrass, lime, and a bit of herbiness and vetivert in the background. FAB! On Still the same, I keep waiting for it to change into something not quite as fantastic...and it doesn't! 30 minutes It does not change one iota, thank goodness. Throw: more then average surprisingly. Scent category: Fruity (citrus). Summary If you like Lush's "Avobath" ballistic, you'd love this. I've never smelled anything this lime-y in all the bpal blends I've tried. I'm thoroughly jazzed about it. Loads of staying power! Purchase again? Yes! 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4

    Queen of Clubs

In the bottle sweet fig? On slurp I can't get over how different this is (and the King of Clubs as well). How does she do it? It's got an earthy dark brown , dark green and dark puprle vibe to it. It smells earthy and fruity in a fig way, and it's got these two little bright rose and vanilla scents wafting above the earthiness of it all. Very odd but very effective. As it dries it gets more vanillery, more floral too (ugh) and more tobacco/resiny. 30 minutes Still nice. The tobacco-y smells has gone. It's a rose vanilla creaminess alongside a darkly earthy floral. It makes for an interesting and nice combo. Throw: more than average Scent category: earthy/floral/fruity/incense Summary Very earthy (of course), it's almost half innocent young girl and wiser, sensual and comforting woman. It turns more floral on me as it dries but the vanilla keeps my nose coming back for more. Purchase again? I believe I would. Great for working with the earth element, wow. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4

    King of Clubs

In the bottle A bit of sweetness, maybe some fig. This is spicier smelling than the Queen. Very sexy. And sweeter on me than the Queen oddly. On It's rich, deep, and if it were a color it would be brownish purple. It's turning less resinous and more astringent as it dries. 30 minutes It doesn't change a whole lot when it dries, it does last a goodly amount of time. It's not weak nor is too strong. It's still a deep, rich sensual earthy, darkly fruity scent. Throw: average Scent category: green (dark earthy green)/animalistic/resin/foody -Yes, it is all these things to my nose. Summary It's asbolutely lovely sensual and addicitve when it dries. It's all at once dark green and earthy and dark berryish sensuality. Purchase again? Yes indeedy. I'd wear it and I'd LOVE my man to wear it. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4

    Ace of Hearts

In the bottle Rose, and other paler florals and herby, soft citrus notes. On Ohh it's lovely when first on. A watery blend. A fresh blend with roses and herbs (lotus?) and something bright and sweet-ish, maybe citrus? My my. This is going to be a big hit I think. I am not one to have luck with rose blends, with the exception of The Empress. And that said, this is right up there. I’ve tried ALL the bpal rose blends and for me anyway, this is #2 under The Empress. It’s not a “I smell the green stems too!” kind of rose blend which I love in TE, but a more watery and light rose blend. Still, it’s not like Hymn…no no. This has body to it, it does have an earthy quality when compared with Kostnice or Hymn. It’s a tad sweeter than all of them too, except for TE. Its not sweet, just sweeter than Hymn and Kostnice. 30 minutes It hasn’t changed much thank heavens, but it is a bit more earthy and perfumey at the same time now. Throw: Yes! Lovely throw. Scent category: fresh earthy herby floral Summary I’ve never smelled a BPAL rose blend like this yet. It's a younger more springtime rose blend. There a sweet and bright note i teh middle that is lovely. It dries down to more of a lotus or earthy rose blend. Purchase again? Yes. Another bottle. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4

    Noir

~Noir~ In the bottle Holy Cow! Decadence and smoky sensuality... but subdued. Makes you yearn for more. On Um. This reminds me so much of Lush's Icon perfume. It's the myrrh and the opoponax incensey smell. The myrrh is not a strong scent, oh no, this is a powdery subdued sensual myrrh. OMG, the incensey opoponax and the jasmine blend to create such a sensual scent it's unreal. It's smoldering but under the surface. It's not too anything. It's a little bit perfumey (the rose is very light here), a more than average bit incensey, a bit of dark rich thick plum, and the yumminess of the best smelling jasmine. I don't smell the clove... at all. 30 minutes Oh sweet mother of God, it doesn't morph into anything weird nor off smelling nor too strong, nor too light. Oh, and still no cloves but I don't miss it. *falls on knees* Thank you Beth for creating Noir!! Throw: Yes! Lovely throw. Scent category: Incensey/floral Summary This has now replaced Lush's Icon as "that" kind of scent for me. In my opinion, Stevie Nicks in a bottle. (And this is a good thing to me, he he) Purchase again? Yes!!!!!! Organ donations...whatever it takes. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 5 Without question!

    Peace

In the bottle perfumey lavender and citrus with a bright tangy ecalyptus-like edge. On It's herby and green. It's more perfumey than one would imagine but not what I would call a strong blend at all. It's just right in the strength department. I can tell it's also an aqua blend which is also somewhat piney and lavender-y. It's not a real noticeable pine though. I'm wondering if there's chamomile in this blend as well because I detect it's lightly sweet and almost citrussy brightness. I likey. 30 minutes I think there's a floral in here by jove. But it's so light and barely detectable. Is it...rose? It's so light as to be almost non existent. When this blend is dry, it changes quite a bit on me. No longer an herby lavender/pine. When dry it becomes a lighter, more powdery sweeter citrus floral with a bit of an aquatic breath. It's also fresh smelling but in more of a lightly perfumey way. This is one though that would have to be re-applied often or slathered on, as it has really disappeared on me after about 30-45 minutes. I was going to give this a "4.5" rating but then it dried and I smelled it again. Now it becomes a 5. Even though it doesn't last on the skin the beauty of this blend keeps it at a "5" I think. Throw: less than average Scent category: Green/Aqua Summary In my mind this blend's scent brings up Christmas and peace, and Lush's upcoming "Assisi" baby shampoo and just a gentle beauty. When it dries it becomes an ethereal scent much like Snow White or Havisham or Blue Moon does but in a white Christmas pureness kind of way. It doesn't last as long as Blue Moon by any means, more like how Snow White lasts on the skin, it's very faint after awhile. Absolutely gorgeous. I would wear this all the time. It does bring my peace. Purchase again? Yes! a 10ml! 1-5 rating (5 being best) 5

    Yesod

In the bottle Highly floral, but with a soft feminine floral (jasmine sounds right to me) like note wafting lushiously in and out like a tempting snake. On Hmm. Not as lushious as promised. As mentioned by poster above I do smell jasmine honeysuckle and gardenia maybe. Not as aquatic- like as I imagined. 30 minutes Very floral in a very ultra feminine floral way. Throw: Yeah boy. Scent category: Floral/Aqua Summary Underlying all this floral trauma, I got a very strong feeling of the description. It's so very feminine in energy, like to the nth degree. Maybe a superb blend to use in the wiccan "west corner". Purchase again? Nope. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 2.5

    Milk Moon 2005

~Milk Moon~ In the bottle Heaven. Lightly milky, like some cookie bar or cereal bar treat I've bought at the store for the twins but can't remember what the product is. On Creamy, almost butterscotch-y. When you're baking and you have to use condensed milk or if you are caramelizing milk and sugar for a custard... that's what this smells like. There's a bright little note in there trying to get my attention,he smells citrussy maybe lemon but only a peep. 30 minutes Coconut comes out as it dries which I could do without but it doesn't sully this blend as much as I would think. Throw: Not much. Scent category: Foody Summary Initially milky and lightly sweet like cooking custard. Coconut comes in much more and a very light whiff of lemon. People are right, Milk Moon goes really well with Flower moon when worn together. If it didn't have coconut I'd give it a "4.5" instead of a "4". Purchase again? Yes! Why didn't I buy more than one bottle!? 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4

    Flower Moon 2005

In the bottle Floral he he, with a bit of brightness peacking out as maybe citrus or something. I'm not known to be crazy about florals so this shuld be interesting. On Citrus and floral, quite beautiful. The florals are somewhere in strength between Harvest moon and Beltane. Meaning it's not a really strong floral blend, but it's not a lightweight either. As it dries it is getting much stronger and now there's something woody underneath, I thought I even smelled cocoa but that can't be right. As it dries the citrus recedes more then I'd like. 30 minutes The citrus comes back into view and there is a green note or notes now. Throw: more than average Scent category: Floral Summary It's a bright orangey floral initially. Then it's more of a green floral. Then it's an orangey/green/floral. When it's dry, it's a most gorgeous, bright, summery floral. Purchase again? Yes! 1-5 rating (5 being best) 3.5

    Ace of Wands

~Ace of Wands~ In the bottle Ohh. It's wonderful in the bottle, it's orangey and...conflagrant. On I just fall for the fiery blends hook, line and sinker every time. I don't know why this surprises me since I am an Aries. Eucalyptus, orange, pepper, clove too maybe? There's a wee bit of sweetness in here, which is unexpected and nice. When I first smelled it, it smelled akin to "Seraglio", except without the rose and incensey lovliness. This is more spicy orange with an minty-herb lovilness...and a bit more fiery. It's not fiery in a a "Hellfire" nor an "Inferno" way, not as much. 30 minutes It's alot sweeter now, and more peppery. Less orangey. I'm wondering if there's white lotus in here. I don't know why there would be but it kind of smells like it. Candied and spiced orange peel. OMG. Throw: A bit more than average because of the eucalyptus. Scent category: Spicy/citrus Summary Orangey at first Then eucalyptus-y Then sweet herb-y It actually goes straight though my blood stream and warms my tummy. I suspect there's cinnamon in here as cinnamon makes that nice glow within me whenever I wear it in a blend. It's not strong enough for me to be able to pick it though like in "Malkuth", "Hellfire", "Inferno". Dried, It's candied and spiced orange peel. Fabulous. Purchase again? Most definitely yes. Another 10ml if and when I ran out. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4.5
  22. UltraViolet

    Ace of Pentacles

~Ace of Pentacles~ In the bottle Mmm. Earth, eucalyptus. oakmoss, pine. On Same as in the bottle. Damp earth, wet dark green leafy things, pine, eucaplyptus. It's nice to breath it and feel the calm. 30 minutes Not alot of morhping, still the same as when sniffed out of the bottle, only richer. Throw: average Scent category: Earthy/Green Summary The epitome of the earthy blend. Nothing odd, or off, just earthy, deep, quiet, stillness. I'm a fire sign so this is really centering for me. If I want to focus and stop all the erroneous chatter in my brain, this is what I would wear. Purchase again? Yes. This is th earthiest blend I've tried yet from bpal. It's earthy in a comforting, grounding way, just as sitting in a quiet forest would be. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4
  23. UltraViolet

    The Devil

In the bottle Surprisingly kinda nice. Smells like light musk, medium civet, medium black pepper On There are so many nice evil smells in here, but the one that I don't like too much is the one that smells like pickle juice. Sweet pickle juice at that. However, the rest of the many notes in here are addictive, very strange yet...comforting somehow. As it dries the sweet pickle juice primary note diminishes (praise the lord...dark or otherwise) and it's now better, but still so headache inducing as to make me woozy ...yet I still keep smelling it. I'll take a s.w.a.g. at the different notes I'm smelling; eucalyuptus, black pepper, civet, some other little dark herbies. 30 minutes Much more leather smelling now. For those of you who like the blends that have a leather or a civet smell, this is one for you. I wouldn't wear it ever, but it is addictive. Go figure. Throw: More then average, but I dunno if that's a good thing. Scent category: Animalistic Summary Yep. It's the devil, and the devil really is scary. Purchase again? No. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 2.5 (I gave it a bit more, just for not being "Queen") *gets out pitchfork and pokes little impie back in it's pen*

    Cold Moon

In the bottle sweet, watery, lightly minty blend On Lovley scnet. It's got that frost moon, chaste moon combo. Ever so slightly sweet and foody, with a breath of minty herbs, all on top of a watery blackground. 30 minutes Doesn't morph a whole lot. I though it would like Frost Moon did or Harvest Moon. This stays nice and light and crystalline smelling. Throw: More than average Scent category: Aqua/herby Summary Differs from "Frost Moon" in that there's no sneaky floral, and no vague citrus. It's similar to "Spazzepony" and "Sea of Glass" but with more sweet minty coolness. Purchase again? Yes. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 4
  25. UltraViolet

    Yerevan

In the bottle Wow On pomegranate, plum and apricot mixed together to have the same heaven-like combo as the raspberry and neroli combo of "Akuma". But this is deeper, more sensual then Akuma, and more berry like, less bright (no citrus). The apricot is lushious next to the ripe dark red berry scent, the plum lends an earthy sweet thickness to the blend. It has a slightly woody note, not as much as "The Red Queen" say but it's very light and lends a grounding density to this fruity blend. I can't smell the flower notes enough to be able to pick them out, they are soft in the background. 30 minutes It's turned much less berryish and fruity now and is much more woody and earthy. Okay wait...now as it's drying completey it's changing again. Yay! It's now floral and musk primarily with more of the rose out now, and still the woodsy note but not as strong, it's still a bit soapy but lightly so. Throw: A bit more than average but only in the beginning wet phase. Scent category: fruity/floral/musk/woody Summary Hmm. I loved it when it was wet. I loved it in fact. Very sensously yummy and fruity. As it starts to dry, it smells woody and soapy. When it's dry it's rosey musk, with a bit of woodiness. It went from "WOW" to "Meh" unfortunately. Purchase again? Nope. I'm excited that I got to try this though it's beauty is when it's wet on my skin. After that my chemistry (I smite my chemistry) sucks all the goodness out of it. 1-5 rating (5 being best) 3.5
