Wet Very nice. It's tea with lemon just as everyone says it is. It's very fresh. There's sugar in the tea and maybe even a wee wee bit of mint? This is a scent that has more depth than most in my opinion. 10 minutes Ooh nice, now it's taken on more of a musky note. The spiciness or minty lemon tea is still there though, they just let the musk through. This is lovely. It's a soft scent but that the same time the ingredients and the combination of them make this scent so alive to my nose. I see the male gender quality of it at this stage also. It's lovely. Like the perfect scent for a man to wear. A light clean bit of vanilla lemony spice cake or something. Fab. Totally Fab. Edited to add: I would most certainly get a 5ml of this and perhaps even a 10ml.

    Van Van

Wet Smells fruity and bright and in seconds the brightness disappears and it turns to a citrussy sweet smell with something underneath that is odd. I can't tell if it's just different, truly yukky or just odd. Sometimes it's even familar. Now it's almost antiseptic smelling. Remember Chloroseptic spray? It's kind of like that but much lighter and there's a powdery on top of it. 10 minutes I just cannot decide if I'm liking it or if I really don't like it. There's almost too many things going on with this blend and my chemistry doesn't quite get along with it. It would be so lemony chiffon pretty if that one note wasn't there, then again maybe it's not supposed to be lemon chiffon pretty. 20 minutes Nope. Can't do this one.

    Spooky

Wet Ahhh!!!!!! Coconut,Chocolate,Mint,Smoke Whoa....Smoky...Too smokey! 10 minutes Okay, the smoky/toasted quality has lessened and I can smell more mintiness and the chocolate is a base in this scent so it's there all the time. I smell a toasted coconut smell, with a bit of smokiness, a tad of mint and dark chocolate underneath. It's not a milk chocolate scent such as Bliss is, but more dark. 20 minutes Boy it's sure lessened in the 10 minutes I've had it on. Now it smells like coconut chocolate cookies with lots and lots and LOTS of nuts and the mint is all but gone. It's very nutty. If I stuck alot of nuts up my nose and they had some coconut sprinkles on them, that's exactly what I smell. I would love it if it had more mint.

    Storm Moon

Wet This is so fresh with a tad bit of floral. It's only slightly sweetish. It's got a slight twang of minty herbiness and the watery/rainy softness of the moon, coupled with a light floral note and that nice ethereal-ness of any moon blend. 10 Minutes This is not changing that much but the rain/thunder ozone notes are a tad stronger now. It's got a medium amount of throw. It reminds me of scents like Spazzepony and Ice Queen a bit. They might be in the same kind of vein as far as winterish and watery. I just realized it's got a scent that is somewhat similar to Blue Moon (I said somewhat lol), except without that cucumber note and Blue moon is stronger as well. 20 minutes It has faded quite a bit from when I applied it. It gets powderier and the floral peeks out more as it dries. Quite fresh and lovely. I like it as a primary option for a water blend over all the ones I've tried. As a moon blend I would say it's right up there with me, maybe belonging in the top 4 Lunacy blends.

    Ouija

Wet Oh I love the lilac smell of Ouija initially. Don't smell any rosewood, oak nor teak which is a pity because I like Beth's wood notes. I do smell the rose and the osmanthus is very nice with the lilac. It almost has similar notes to Blue Moon in my opinion, not the cucumber-y notes but something else I'm not quite sure what it might be. I don't find any of these notes offensive as a person who's chemistry is leery of florals. It's gets right up to that line lol but it's quite lovely. It is old fasioned but not quite in an overpowering way. It gets powdery as it dries and I love powdery so I'm happy. Ouija is a medium strong, sweet floral. Yep, you've gotta love lilac and you've gotta love floral to like this blend. This is a "maybe" on getting more or a bigger bottle. My love of lilacs may prod me into getting more Ouija at a later date.

    Imp

Wet Wow, peachy. This is real nice. It's not too anything, not too sweet although it was tempted to be. Not too strong, not too perfumey. It's becomes a light scent as it dries on my skin. I can barely discern the musk and patchouli. They don't stick out at all but mix so well with this blend as to not be able to pick them out. Who knew? Of the peach or apricot scents I've got: "Fae" (which I love) and Fae is brighter and sweeter and a bit stronger then "Imp". "March Hare" which is nice also and is thick and more syrupy. "Depraved" which is heavier on the musky smell and is also more syrupy. I think Imp is tied with Fae and Depraved for my affections but if I absolutely had to pick only one for someone I'd say Imp because it seems the most "palatable" of the above. 20 minutes I wish this was just a tad stronger because it is so nice I wish it had some more throw so I didn't have to obsessivley my face in my wrist. I would buy a 5ml bottle of this.

    Tisiphone

I am asking my little girl to pick imps out of a basket so we can wear today. So I've got Tisiphone And as is usual when she or my son picks one out it's great. Wet I didn't expect this to be that good. It says patchouli, neroli and ylang ylang are included and this excited me because I like all of the above individually, but there really isn't anything that sticks out to be able to identify. I think that's a good thing, it's well blended they all blend well together with my body chemistry it seems. I think that folks who don't like florals probably won't like this, even though it's not definitvely floral at all. I'm one of those people but I like this, somehow it gets past my floral radar. To my nose It's spicy, sweet, citrussy and floral all at once. 10 minutes It hasn't changed or morphed into anything weird. It's almost like a sweet fruity incense. It doesn't have alot of throw, maybe a tad. I'm trying to decide if I would wear this or would I purchase more or a bigger bottle and I'm actually having to think about it so I'd say this is a good sign in favor of this blend. I'm going to have to do a 2nd wear and append this review as I am becoming quite enchanted with this and I don't trust it cuz I've had three winners in a row. It can't be this good, I can't be this lucky. so I will try it again in a week.

    Shroud

This does smell similar to Veil except I smell some woodsy notes in the background. Angelblue described it perfectly in her second paragraph. I like this. It does indeed seem like a meditational blend. It's a light scent, but it's certainly not the lightest I've seen. I smelled rose initially. I would've sworn there was rose in this, but now I smell violet, sandalwood, a bit of an herby, lavender-y scent and the dust of wood underneath. It seems like it has qualities somewhat similar to SaintGermain.

    Ophelia

Wet Oh my. (It seems I always say that when I'm blown away by a scent) What a lovely powdery scent. Now THIS is the most perfect rose blend I've ever smelled, period. This is one of those scents that really encompasses the description "Wistful and vulnerable". It's a light medium scent. It has some throw. It's airy and watery at the same time to me. 10 minutes It hasn't changed (yay!) in the least, it's still the same balance of the notes and it's so lovely. It has this powdery scent, it must be the stargazer lily, I would almost call it ethereal. I know there isn't any in this blend but I could swear I smell peach way, way in the background. am I outta control or does this smell like Chanel No.5 a bit? 20 minutes It needs some more staying power but it's not too dissappearing like Alice et al. I would buy a 5 ml of this without hesitation.

    London

I'm not one for rose scents too much unless their mixed with citrus notes but this is nice. It is a true rose scent much like my fave "The Empress" but it's lighter and airier to me. Unfortunatley it is turning somewhat soapy on me after 10 minutes but not completely. After the dry down it doesn't change much, which is good as alot of florals, especially rose do this change-a-roo thing on me. This has a slight "throw" on me. It's not sweet at all, just a pure tearose scent that stays true and has above average staying power.

    Wolf Moon 2004

Wolf moon has somewhat fruity undernotes but not sweet at all. It's a tangy watery blend like Spezzpony, Water of Notre Dame, etc. It also smells a bit like Skadi and Ice Queen , sort of pine-ish. After 2 minutes the medium strong floral comes out but thus far it's not too strong (alot of them turn on me). It's what I would call a fresh floral now with an almost honeysuckle note coming through. It reminds me of Lush's Oxeo cube, that same kind of combination of fresh floral with a watery hint of citrus and maybe a tidge of honey. It also reminds me of a commercial perfume, and I'm not sure which one I'm thinking of. It's one of the nicer smelling lunacy updates. I like it but I 'm not sure I'd buy more if it were available all the time.

    La Belle au Bois Dormant

Wet Nice pear scent. Something acidic is interfering with the pear though. That acidic smell went away. 10 minutes It more fresh and almost milky now, it's quite a comforting smell. I smell the tuberose and magnolia now which is lovely. I don't smell the rose though. 20 minutes The pear and this acidic smell are primary in the blend. I love pear blends. I'm not sure if I'd buy a larger size of this but I'd have to use it more to know. I could change my mind about this one.

La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente

Oh my goodness. Wet This is so beautiful it alost took my breath away. I smell peach, soft and almost powdery. It's a clean soft and a bright scent. The sweet clover brings a fresh out side on a summers day feel , the pomegranate is really really light but lends it's subtely sexy sweetness. I don't smell the rose a whole lot. 10 minutes The rose is coming out more now, but the peach is the one holding his own in the blend. The peach seems to be the constant here. And the other ingredients scents come and go, but always blending in perfect union with the peach. 20 minutes It sure takes off in a hurry though. It's so good I wouldn't mind reapplying here and there. It's fun when sometimes things blend so well that they seemed made for each other. This is one of those scents for me. I would buy a 10ml of this. Bravo Beth.

    La Belle Dame Sans Merci

Oh my, this is nice. I smell rose, and a bitter herby note, and spice in the background, must be the cinnamon but I can barely smell it so it;s hard to tell. There's sweetness that is coming out now and/or maybe lily of some sort. It's what I sould call a fresh, clean, floral, green, herby, astringent scent. I think this is one that people will either love or hate. When it dries the rose becomes more primary on me, it's a medium rose, not too strong like Rose Red but not too light like Hymn. It's a lively littly imp, the scent has changed three times and all of the incarnations were good. I wouldn't buy a big bottle of it but I would use the imp when I wanted to feel feminine in a classic poetry way.

    Fae

This is one of the first bpal scents I tried. Wow. Peach sunshine. This perfume sparkles with loveliness. It's a sweet scent. What a beautiful golden blend of almost irridescent heliotrope, and the golden amber brings a warm glow to the mix. It's flirty but comforting. I honestly never smell the oakmoss or maybe I'm confused about what oakmoss smells like. It's playful but not immature I don't think. I'm in love and a 5ml is the next step.
  16. UltraViolet

    Queen Mab

I smell the Jasmine/Orchid primarily with the rose and musk flickering together underneath. It's pretty and sexy in a deeper sensual way. It's full bodied but not in your face or too strong at all. It has better than average staying power too. This is one I would think of getting a 5ml of.
  17. UltraViolet

    Absinthe

I don't know if you've ever smelled absinthe but this smells just like it. It smells licorice-y with a mint scent in the background, there's also a lovely lemony tone and a wormwood smell. It is a woody kind of a smell way in the background. I loved it the moment I smelled it. Very different...and addictive. Absinthe always seems to point me towards mischief, fun and sensualness. I bought a 5ml after I used my imp.

    Lampades

It's been about 30 minutes and it still there going strong. I don't know if cranberry is the perfect description for what it smells like one me wrist, maybe more like strawberry/cherry/rasberry all together. It's sweet, sweeter than Swank and Akuma I think. And it has that "creamy" kind of fruit smell on the dry down like Red Queen does. It definitely has more staying power than Akuma and almost as much staying power as Swank. It has a good amount of throw. It's not as "citrus fruity" nor as "bright" as Akuma and not as "lipstick scented" as Swank but more "candy" like but with that same Swank like touch of spice that givesit a sexiness. I would buy another imp but maybe not a bigger bottle just yet.

    The Red Queen

When I first read the description for The Red Queen I blew off the mahogany and velvety woods part because I didn't think they were actually talking about making a scent with that smell. I got this because it had the word "cherry" in it. And the currants weren't hurting things either. I expected a more bright cherry smell. What I got was a darker cherry, a riper, mellower cherry mixed with the slight tang of currant. Beth has mixed this mellow dark cherry with a wood smell, it's a rounded, feminine wood if that makes sense. The kind of wood that is reddish brown like Lush's Caca Brun and just as glossy. The Red Queen dried down to a rich and somewhat creamy sweet cherry and wood scent. And all this blends superbly together, oddly enough. The woman's a genius. I'm definitely going to finish my imp and this scent is on the teeter totter for a possible future bottle purchase.

    Desdemona

When I'd tried Desdemona awhile back I haden't been able to find a BPAL floral that suited me, until Desdemona. It's light yet it's much more fragrant than Maiden. This is a girlie scent and not necessarily a shy one. The carnation does not stand out in this scent because it is so perfectly balanced with the other ingredients. When it dries down it unfortunately has the bad habit of turning into a burnt rubber scent on me. (Damn) I'll have to let you know if this rubbery scent goes away with even more drying down. If it wasn't for this disappointing rubbery thing that happens in my chemistry I think Desdemona would have the win here as far as pretty floral scents. I think Maiden is more "Potion like".

    The Empress

This is the only one out of the quite a few rose scents that makes me give a throaty subconcious "Mmmm". The others rose blends may get an "oh that smells nice", or "that's a good one" because they really are all nice in their own way but they don't cause that automatic "Mmmm" emitting from my throat. Some blends are spicy roses, and some are fruity roses, and a few are even straight on rose like Rose Red but The Empress is the only rose blend I've smelled so far that has some greenery with the rose petal scent. Just a tad. As if you're also smelling the stems of a bunch of closed, dewey roses.. Nothing brain scathing like Rose Red (I expect tomatoes to be thrown at me for that statement but RR does not bide well with my apparently odd chemistry). "The Empress" is rose in it's most unaldulterated state. I would buy another 10ml of this and will keep The Empress in my cache until I can't smell anymore or I die, whichever comes first.
  22. UltraViolet

    Tamora

Ooh, This is nice. The primary scent is peach, the vanilla secondary and then a light touch of amber and heliotrope underneath. The last two being lighter than in Fae. It's not as bright as Fae, it's a touch more subdued. It also seems to be more complex, almost "perfumey" in the floral sense but stops just short of that. The dry down is best on this, which is rare for me. It's a medium light scent. This gives Fae a run for it's money for being the best BPAL peach scent. I would buy a larger bottle of this blend.
  23. UltraViolet

    Tempest

I generally don't know what to think when I get one of the Water/Ozone BPAL scents. Some of them I love, some of them don't work on me. Of all the water/Ozone scents I think I like Tempest the best because it doesn't just lay there, it's a little more electrifying, if you will, to my nose. I love the negative ion effect of a thunderstorm and I think Beth captured that in a bottle. This doesn't have that sour note that some aquatic blends do on my skin. There are scents I wear because they are "pretty" and there are scents I wear not because I love the scent necessarily but because they do something to me. This does something to me. I would buy another imp or 5ml of this.
  24. UltraViolet

    Hymn

Hymn is a burst of medium soft powdery roses. I don't smell the myrrh, nor the frankincense, and I can't pinpoint the lily either. No overtones or undertones to my nose, just rose. It’s not too sweet, it's calming. There’s a definite watery note carrying the rose. This one is powerful in the reaction it causes in me. It’s not so much a scent as an idea or a feeling. Though this isn’t a scent that I would wear during my workday as it is too emotional for me, it is a scent that I would most definitely wear when doing meditation or other such “work” as it has a lot of healing, west element, emotional, feminine energy.

    Catherine

This is surprisingly nice. It's more interesting than Silentium say because it's a more complex blend. I was leary because of the rosemary but it blends so perfectly you can't tell where the rose begins and the rosemary starts. But indeed, it works. It's a bit sharp and a bit sour as well as if there were lime in it. This only adds to the yum factor. I would purchase more of this.
