Two words sum up this blend while sniffing the imp....minty lavender. On my skin though, the mint overpowers the lavender though and it ends up smelling like super strong toothpaste.

Sniffing the imp....Hello Lavender.... Wet on my skin, it's lavender and sweet Lotus. It's a sweet, clean scent. A very soothing soft lavender scent. I'm not sure I will ever buy a bottle of this, but I will definitely keep my imp.

Oh dear, another vetiver-intensive blend. I think the lab was on a vetiver kick when they packed up my frimps this past order. Sniffing the imp, it's all over-powering vetiver. I almost didn't even skin test it... Wet on my skin, it's hell-and-brimstone-smelling-screaming vetiver. As it dries, it does settle a bit but I get no tonka, no carnation...maybe a bit of musk, but it's overwhelmed by the stale cigarette smell of the vetiver on my skin. Urgh.

    Arkham

Very woodsy scent. I get mostly pine & cypress mixed with a bit of floral....and moss. Unfortunately this kind of blend is never best on my skin.

    French Love

Well, I'm definitely picking up dragon's blood (the color of the oil gives that away) and gardenia. Remains pretty true as it dries...I can barely smell a little cinnamon, but it's mainly just gardenia and dragon's blood on my skin.

    Verdandi

Sniffing the imp, it's apples and herbs. Much the same once applied to my skin...the amber is quite subdued here. Mostly green herbs and apple.

    Mag Mell

Wet on the skin, it's verbena and mint. As it dries, a touch of amber, grass, verbena, and light ginger. Quite pleasant and warm weather scent.

    Kubla Khan

Wet on my skin, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Smoke, & Mandarin. Not really getting any rose from this...but leather is discernible as it dries further. This is a nice balance of floral, fruit, amber, tobacco, and leather. I like it...very complex.

    Vechernyaya

Sniffing the imp, it's floral patchouli... On my skin, the poppy & white musk notes do a good job of keeping the patchouli in check. I don't do dirty hippie scents very well so I have to watch blends with patchouli in them, but this blend works. I don't love it enough for a bottle, but it was nice to sample.

    The Music of Erich Zahn

Sniffing the imp...vetiver. On my skin, the vetiver amps above all else. I do get a bit of dark musk as well. As it dries further, it smells like cigarette butts.

    Dragon's Tears

It's an aquatic dragon's blood wet on the skin...as it dries, I do detect a bit of floral mixing with the dragon's blood.

    Velvet Tiger

Sniffing the bottle, it's spicy Vetiver. Uh-oh... Wet on my skin, it's all smoke and vetiver. This is not promising... It's almost completely dry and I still can't get past the strong Vetiver note. I knew I was taking a chance with both Velvet Tiger and Velvet Panther having my dreaded vetiver note in both oils, but I honestly thought Velvet Panther was the bigger risk. I really thought the orange, licorice, and amber notes would temper the vetiver enough in Velvet Tiger. Instead, Velvet Panther turned out to be this glorious sexy scent and Velvet Tiger is just bitter vetiver on me. Maybe if I let this settle for a month or two, the other notes will temper the vetiver....at least that's my hope. Otherwise, this is off to the swap/sell pile.

    Velvet Panther

Sniffing the bottle, this is a darkly sweet blend. Wet on my skin, the notes I pick up first are anise, dark musk, vanilla, mandarin, and slightly woody. I was a little scared with the Vetiver note as that can be death on my skin, but so far the other notes are disguising the vetiver enough that I really don't smell it. As it dries, the anise is still there giving it a slightly bitter licorice scent blended with musk and vanilla. The wood note is very subdued and I get whiffs here and there of the King Mandarin, but no vetiver. I'm glad I took a chance on this. It's beautifully dark, sexy blend on my skin.

    Velvet Nudie

Sniffing the bottle, it's a very light musk and floral scent to my nose. Wet on the skin, it's sugary musk. There is a bit of floral, but it's very minimal. Dry, it turns into really sugary lemon on my skin then goes a bit powdery. I agree that this is a blend that may need to settle for a couple weeks.

    Velvet Tiki

Sniffing the bottle, it's kind of head rush of tropical fruit for me. I can smell the pineapple, but I really have to concentrate. It's difficult for me to pick out individual notes just sniffing the contents from the bottle. Wet on my skin, it's very much spicy citrus and floral. As it dries, I smell the vanilla flower...not as spicy, but still tropical fruit and light floral. I like the blend...I'm just not sure it will be something I reach for often. The oil is fully dry on my skin now and this has turned into strictly passion fruit and vanilla floral on my skin. I'm loving it much better completely dry on my skin. For those looking for a strong pineapple note, that sadly did not happen on my skin...

    Velvet Clown

This was the Velvet blend that had me the most excited to try.... Sniffing straight from the bottle, it's licorice and marshmallows. Wet on the skin, it's still predominantly licorice...and being the licorice freak I am, that's just fine. I agree with Tramp that it does have a faint metallic tang in the scent as well, but it's such a sugary scent, I think that helps keep it from becoming sickeningly sweet. As it settles a bit on my skin, I can pick up the rum & whiskey notes. Dry on my skin, it's a faintly boozy marshmallow & licorice scent with a smoky note which on my skin is more of a caramelized sugar scent, rather than straight-up cigar smoke. I love this blend! And of the 4 Velvet blends I have tested today, it's definitely my favorite so far.

    Velvet Unicorn

Sniffing the bottle, it's sugary strawberries & cherries. Very fruity to the nose. Wet on my skin, the strawberry and cherry notes are fighting for dominance...cherry soon wins. Then, as it dries more it does smell more like cotton candy and merangue. I like this better than Midway if for no other reason that it lasts longer on my skin. Midway always smells great for 30 minutes and then--poof--is gone. This seems to be sticking around longer. The more it dries...the cherry and strawberry notes come back and swirl together into a lovely blend. As I knew Velvet Unicorn would be, it's going to be a favorite with fruity & foody lovers.

    Velvet Pink Kitty

Sniffing the bottle...it's a slightly boozy version of Floating Brain. On my skin, it's the same wet and dry...strawberries and cream with a dash of booze. Definitely a pink scent.

    Velvet Dogs Playing Poker

Sniffing the bottle, it's mostly coffee and smoke to my nose. Wet on the skin, it's still smoky but now with spice. The coffee note is nowhere to be sniffed on my skin. Not really getting the wood note, even as it dries... On dry down, I can smell the Irish coffee once more and the smokiness remains, but this is not really a sweet smoke note, at least interacting on my skin chemistry. And still quite spicy...I assume that's the Tonka. I like it, but it's not the Holy Grail scent I thought it would be. I do think this might get better as it ages...I think I will tuck it away for a few months and see what happens.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Oooh I love the bottles. Mine should be here today whenever the mailman finally shows up this afternoon.

    Bony Moon

Sniffing the bottle, this is very herbal. Once applied to my skin, it goes to nearly all cedar. I also get a bit of coconut as others have reported. The more it dries, the more I can smell the sandalwood. Very pleasant scent on my skin.

    Kuang Shi

Sniffing the imp, this is musky orange. On my skin, it's mandarin, sandalwood, and musk. As it dries more, I think I can now smell a bit of mango. I'm a sucker for orange blends, so this is definitely a keeper.

    Jailbait

Sniffing the imp, this is all gacky sweet bubblegum. Applied on my skin, still very sweet bubblegum initially. As it dries, I can now smell the orange and cherry. Fortunately, on dry down, the bubblegum scent fades and I'm left with oranges and cherries and a bit of spice. Light and pleasant.

    Titus Andronicus

Sniffing the imp, this is musk and amber. On my skin, this is a lovely spicy amber scent with just a touch of smoke. A very sexy blend on my skin.

    TKO

“Many things -- such as loving, going to sleep, or behaving unaffectedly -- are done worst when we try hardest to do them.” I was frimped some of this wonderful stuff and though tonight will be the first time I try it sleeping, it definitely smells amazingly soothing. It's all creamy vanilla lilac on my skin. So soft and comforting. A bottle of this will be in my next lab order for sure.
