    Pumpkin II (2008)

What is so odd about this blend is that on my skin, the teak is stronger than the leather and it's pretty rare for anything to outdo leather on my skin. This is a really woody scent with tones of leather underneath. The tonka doesn't come out much on my skin other than a faint sweet quality, which may be the pumpkin and not the tonka.

    Pumpkin IV (2008)

CEDAR. This goes on like a big ol cedar chest on me, it's very strong. I can definitely smell the cherry tobacco also (smells like my bro is smoking his pipe in my bedroom hehe). In the drydown though it becomes almost all cherry tobacco and honey so it's quite sweet for most of the perfumes wear.

    Pumpkin III (2008)

This starts as bright grapefruit - it's deliciously tart! It does settle to be not such a bright citrus, but the overall tone is still clearly citrus. It's sweet and girly and I like that it tones down the nutty quality of the pumpkin. This is one of my favorite BPAL pumpkin scents I think, thumbs up!

    Needle in a Haystack

This goes on very pumpkiny (which is quite nutty on my skin) but the hay becomes immediately apparent after it hits my skin. It's a very hay like scent - that grassy but dry and warm quality. Just lovely.

    John Barleycorn

This is so odd, but when this first hits my skin, it smells like burnt sugar - so for a moment, it smells a lot like Sugar Skull on me. That's where that ends though, because a moment later it's definitely a husky beer and musk scent and suddenly does not resemble Sugar Skull at all. It's more musk than beer on my skin, though the beer is certainly there. This is comforting in a weird way - the sort of scent that I might not wear as a perfume but that I would shampoo with if that makes any sense. After about 20 minutes, this is very powdery and musky and most of the beer scent is gone.

    Chant D'Automne

It is strikingly similar to Death of Autumn but it is WAY more vetivery. In fact, this is nearly all vetiver on me - very bitter and sharp with a slight smokey edge. In the drydown, it smells just like Death of Autumn's drydown on me! If you really love Death of Autumn, you may want to pick up Chant D'Automne as a back up for it

    A Blade of Grass

This was pretty much grass single note on my skin. It was VERY grassy and green but really just grass and reminded me a lot of summer (grass always makes me think of summer!).

    Pumpkin V (2008)

Like others, I was concerned about the rose (not enough to NOT try it, but still ) and as it turns out, there was no need to be (huzzah!). The frankincense is the first thing that pops out at me but it is followed by fig and and a rather nutty pumpkin. After this dries down however, this is VERY cranberry on me. It's like cranberry incense! It retains the strength and headiness of frankincense but it also has the vibrant berry tartness of cranberry. It's very unusual and quite pretty. It might be a little too heady for me to wear, but I appreciate it all the same

    Graveyard Dirt

(I'm sorry I can't access the Lab's page to get the official descrip for this, I would appreciate if someone would do that, thank you!) Wow I'm first on this one, really? I remember back when I first joined this forum and Graveyard Dirt (the original of course) was already hard to get ahold of back then and was pretty hyped up amongst the soil lovers in the community. I had always been intrigued by it, as I love the smell of rich soil myself. I was pleasantly surprised to see this new incarnation and so I immediately got a decant from a decant circle. If you are looking for dirt... well here it is. When I sniffed it, it was clear to me that this was not the rich scent of fresh soil that I was thinking it would be. But it IS soil at the same time - but instead, it's that gritty, fungusy soil. Sort of appropriate for the season but the bitter edge of that sort of fungusy smell (ever picked mushrooms in your back yard? That smell) is not pleasant to my nose. It does settle into a sort of muskier version after just 5 minutes or so, but it keeps that soil edge to it. It also sticks close to my skin, I have to bring my nose right up to my wrist to get this one. Certainly unique, there is no wonder why it's loved by those who really crave that dirt scent

    The Witching Time of Night

A very deep floral, it makes me think of the color purple. It's heady but has a slight fruity edge as well, just sweetens it up a tiny bit. I cannot detect any of the notes individually here, so that's about all I can say!

    L'Autunno

As an Autumn baby I have a certain idea in my mind about the smells of Autumn and what I expect. And L'Autunno does a very nice job of being a very Autumny scent. It's got a slightly fruity quality but it's very played down and it's smokey and mildly sweet. Imagine if the original Hunter Moon had a baby with Samhain. That's this scent! If you love either of those scents, you are likely to love this one as well (I know I do!).

    L'Autunno Atmospheric Spray

I feel like I must have gotten something totally different from everyone else, because I'm just not getting what everyone else is. In the bottle, I do detect a little bit of fig, and then black tea. And when I spray it in my room, it smells of black tea and nothing else. It doesn't hang around for long either, so this one was a bit disappointing for me (I really didn't expect the L'Estate room spray to beat out the L'Autunno one in my book!).

    L'Estate

This is a very golden scent indeed. People who love amber will surely love this scent as it is predominantly amber (at least on me!). I get some florals too, but it's like... amber soaked florals lol. If you liked Et Lux Fuit, I really think this is in the same vein as that, it reminds me a great deal of it. It's a sophisticated scent in my opinion, something I'd think of as mature.

    L'Estate Atmospheric Spray

Like some others, this reminded me more of Fall than Summer. It was golden and smokey and had a lovely sort of incense heaviness to it at first. I don't smell the cardamom, but everything else is very apparent. I thought it had faded away but I left the room and came back and the whole room still smells like it, so it sticks around for a bit!

    Penumbra

Penumbra goes on very lavender-y but quickly dries into a mellow grapey floral. It smells very similar to Purple Phoenix on my skin, only Purple Phoenix is a bit more floral whereas Penumbra is more ambery. I don't get much tobacco or sandalwood in this unfortunately.

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream

This actually goes on like raspberry candy (as previously mentioned by a few) rather than like blueberry on me. It quickly morphs from fruity though, into a soft green tea and slight floral scent. I don't get much vanilla or musk in this, but the green tea is very prominent on me. This scent is very soft and faint (it's a close-to-your-body kind of scent) and has a very Spring feel to it. It's much less fruity than I anticipated but is still playful.

    The Isles of Demons

This is much less smoky/dark green than I was expecting and is more sweet musk and resins. It has a golden overtone to it with the slightest hint of a smoky quality. It's very pleasant and smooth and I think is a good "all purpose" scent (work, play, nights out, male or female, etc).

    Hay Moon

AMBER. Like a bucket full of amber on me. It's not very hay like to me (as a Kansas resident - born and raised! - hay is such a nostalgic smell for me) but it's reminiscent of it. Someone above compared it to an Aveda store saying it smelled like lemony-herbal with a touch of smokiness, and I really have to agree with that. The amber is awful potent in this, and a bit smokey and powdery at the same time. In the way that hay is a very yellow-green smell, this is a yellow-green smell to me. It's only slightly on the masculine side to me, and I think I'll hold onto the bottle and see hwo it ages

    Mead Moon

This is very HONEY - smells a lot like Dana O'Shee on me, or similar to O. Light, powdery sweet honey with a touch of nutmeg. I don't really get the other notes. This is pleasant and subtle!

    Olokun

This is very straight forward on me - a light, but salty, aquatic with a touch of green grassiness.

    The Dodo

Oh cassia, you hate me so Always so overwhelming on me! I get red musk also (which is usually also very dominant on me, but in this blend the cassia is winning) and mango. It's an unusual combination - certainly appropriate for The Dodo, and if it weren't for the cassia being the strongest note on me, I'd probably enjoy it a lot more! Mango + red musk is lovely and interesting!

    Coyote

Holy crap if I had known that Coyote was this sexy, I would have gotten it LONG ago and not waited until it was generously gifted to me to try it. I was always intrigued by the doeskin and musk combo here, but figured it would probably be too ambery for my tastes (I don't dislike amber, I'm just not that terribly fond of it). Turns out, I was wrong because this scent is so amazing. Beautifully golden and musky - the musk is in the foreground on me and it's followed by a sort of soft spiced grass. Totally gorgeous, I want to roll in this.

    Bad Luck Woman Blues

This goes on very "nutty" on me, but quickly morphs into a sort of powdery and sweet tobacco and very strong, spicy Spanish Moss. The longer it is on me, the more it smells like a cologne - it's masculine and sort of outdoorsy/rugged and pleasant.

Itasô Kansei Nenkan Jorô No Fûzoku

When this goes on, this smells just like Johnson and Johnson baby wash!! I know, because I have a bottle of it in my shower, for my little nephew lol. It's clean but kind of soapy also. A touch of floral, but more of the soapy clean smell than anything. I think Queen Mab said it perfectly when she described it as being a "high pitched white scent"

    Lover's Parodies of Sumo Holds

This was not at all what I would expect from a blend with those notes. I wore it today (after being frimped it by the generous ivyandpeony!! ) without looking at the notes again, so I didn't recall what was in it. As I wore it, it smelled of green tea, slightly sweetened with a citrus - it was clean, green, refreshing - only mildly sweet and perfect for a hot summer day like today. So I was totally shocked to see jasmine in this, which I did not get at all (which is a small bpal miracle). Also the opoponax was a no show on me, which is also good since that note frequently goes wonky on me. Overall, very pretty scent and goes well with this sweltering weather we are having here in the Midwest!
