unsurprisingly, Freakshow is ... Freaky. i can't pin this scent down. first it was chocolate, then it was bright and tart and now it's a musty ol' dried fig. i'll be trying it again -- and aging it a bit and seeing how it does, before i get rid of it. but, i'm uttlerly confused by it. ?! [ETA] ok. this is superweird. now, all i'm getting is spicy wood. in fact, it smells like i thought Medicine SHow would smell. it's nice, don't get me wrong, but WTF? why does the pomegranate/chocolate smell like spicy/wood? n.

Bengal, on me? "meh". in the vial i can smell that dusty pepper, but on me it goes all ... plastic and potpurri and faint at that. i'm sad that i don't get Chai like so many other people, but my wallet is immensely relieved! n.

Jack on me was first ALL BUTTER. so much butter that i was a bit taken aback. now, it's buttery peaches. it smells like a peach cobbler. which isn't bad in itself, but i'm not way into the foody scents. n.

a funny story about ACMoney Draw. yesterday i meant to relist my car for sale, but didn't get around to it. but, in preparation, i had dabbed a bit of ACMD on the backs of my hands before work. it was payday. the pay messenger came with the cheques, and when our boss opened up the packet, he discovered that the accountants had messed up and not put any cheques in the pack -- except for one. mine. so, i guess you can say it works, even when you didn't intend it to! n.

i wish i were one of those lucky folk who get real strawberries with this, but all i get is strawberry Jolly Rancher. at least i have Fruit Moon to console my loss! n.

there's a woman on the forum (i can''t remember her name, her icon is a picture of her nuzzling her cat, and her hair has streaks of white in the front...) who has a tendency to sweeten blends up. she gets around it by wearing a lot of traditionally male or the "gender neutral" scents. that said, i'd try Perversion. good luck! n.

most of the reviews for this are dead on: soft, comforting, downy. this is a very mamalian scent. and it makes me think not of Coyote the Trickster, but of the coyote mother, nursing her cubs and her soft fur. i am torn on if i want a bottle. for now, i'll keep the imp and see how often i reach for it. n.

cranberry hit the nail on the head with this, though i will up it one further and say that the King smells like the forest floor in a glade of Hemlocks or pines -- all soft needles and the sunlight filtering down through. sometimes dusky, sometimes green, the King is quite lovely and makes me want to sink to the floor of that forest with my King and not go anywhere for long time. when i first put him on, i was worried that i liked it more than the Queen (i got this as an xmas gift for my BF) but now, i know i will love him in it, and i grow to love the Queen more each day. marvelous pair. good show, beth & co! good show! n.

i love Fr00t Moon! at first swipe it's all melon on me. true melon, not fake melon. true cantaloupe has a gorgeous floral like scent that lingers about it ever so delicately, and FM has that. later on some other fruits come out to play, and things like the tartness of pineapple and lime, and the sweet green of kiwi become present, but they are always accompanied by the sweet floral creamsicle coloring of the melon bearing them up and dancing all about them. Fr00t Moon is Mi-Go's lighter little sister, is the Hanging Gardens in the blush of Spring before the figs overripen, and what i would have expected Pink Moon to smell like. and unlike many berry scents, it doens't go oversweet on me, and unlike some fig/date scents, it doen't go rotten fruit on me. i love the Fr00t! n.

Pink Moon is really ... cute. no, seriously, its a cute scent. on me, it's delicate and chipper. i'd really like it if there wasn't this one note thats like overripe fruit on me. its the same note found in the Hanging Gardens that was bad. here it's less, but it's presence is enought to ruin Pink Moon for me. i'll likely keep an imp as id' like to have an almost full set, but the others will eventually head off to the swaps. n.

i put this on this morning (Hunter Moon on my left hand, and Honey Moon on my right) and was a bit taken aback by the sort of genital muskiness of the blend. i traipsed into the bedroom where the Boy was waking up. "smell" i commanded. he shrugged at the Hunter Moon, but at the HOney Moon he said, "I like that! It smells like 'let's have sex RIGHT NOW'". so, i was right about the genital muskiness. and while it's a bit odd to be sitting here at work with the bedroom funk wafting up from my keyboard, i will be dabbing it on *after* work for date night on Wednesday! overall that's what i get from this blend: sex, sex and more sex, with lots of girly parts in particular making the sex smell. through a series of fortunate events, i have three imps, so i don't feel the need to hunt down and actual bottle, though i will have to hoard this carefully, and for special occasions ETA: the throw from this is quite lovely and sweet -- but not overly sweet. in the air, the sex musk dies down and becomes a background note that anchors the honey and keeps it from attracting bees with the sugar. but as you move towards the skin, the sex musk gets more and more forward. definitely a keeper, but not for work wear n.

upon first application, this Moon was it's scent: dark, wild, woodsy. i smelled fir trees and crisp cold air. as it dried down, it became more and more potpourri like -- woods and spice, and now, about an hour later, is a sort of berry spice scent. i'm glad i have the imp for that first rush, but i don't think i'll be "hunting" down a bottle. n.

All the depth, beauty and darkness of All Hallows Eve. Truly the scent of autumn itself -- damp woods, fir needle, and black patchouli with the gentlest touches of warm pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, allspice, sweet red apple and mullein. i will preface this by saying that i had read the reviews, and had ordered a bottle of this unsniffed of the 05 blend, which i am waiting for now. and then, LiberAmoris gifted me with an imp of the '04 blend at the Meet n' Sniff i hosted this past weekend. i was scared to open the vial. at the MnS, i had sniffed Samhain from two bottles, and both had a decidedly moldy-leaf and astringent smell that weirded me out a bit. "uh oh" i thought. but this evening, what with the Jewish New Year and all, i came home and found myself drawn to the imp of '04. i opened it: none of the smell of those bottles was there -- maybe it was the quantity change or soemthing, but this was smoke and apples and spices *and* leaves. "hmmm" said i, and swiped a bit off the wand onto the back of my arm. first of all, this has serious throw. a couple of dabs and i was surrounded in the scent of apples mulling in wine and spices, while the damp leaves were mashed underfoot, the fir forest was off in the distance while my sweet beckoned me to stand with him by the fire. whoa. where was i? oh yeah. my livingroom in NYC. i thought, "oh! so *that's what all the raving is about!" remember -- just a dab'll do ya! i'm glad i have my Very Own Bottle on the way. n.

this weekend, LiberAmoris gifted me with a bottle of Chaos Theory. she gave me XI (11). she didn't know that 11 is one of my favorite numbers, i like primes in the bottle: at first i smell spices and bubble gum! weird -- it's then decided that it's really lotus and spices - i'm thinking some ginger and pepper, actually. weird, but good. this morning i decided to decant an imp of it, but it had a reducer cap. got a bunch on my hands which i smeared on my arms and went to work. it's been morphing ever since. first it became a milder version of Kweku Anansi! dusty pepper, savannnah grasses, leather. but where as KA was strong with a lot of throw, this was closer to my skin. however, i could still catch whiffs of the lotus. close to the skin it was KA, in the air it was a less sweet lotus -- lotus without hte bubblegum. now, it's all just blended and close to the skin. it's difficult to prise apart the notes, but i get a dusty pepper, faint leather, toned-down lotus, mellow ginger, and unidentified stuff. i really like it. thank you, LiberAmoris, and thank you Chaos Theory! n.

oh, YUM. Smells just it says. Right now it's hard to tell if the Very Tobacco head is due to the fact that Hearth is further up my arm However, I think I really want a bottle of this. The Tonka is coming out, and the chard is jut lovely. This is great stuff. SEXY. also, i wanted to add that i just woke up. it's been about 18 hours since i applied the Perversion. all the scents i had on are totally gone, but in the area where i had the Perversion (circled iwth a pen) is still a slight lingering frangrance of tonka. next order, a bottle. i really am looking forward to wearing this on it's own. ETA: i now have a bottle of this stuff. it's my favorite for wearing out. and actually, i did wear this to a bondage ball! purrrrrrrrrfect highly recommended for seducing men who smoke n.

Whoa. Cherry pipe tobacco, leather and butter. Very comforting. A bit much for me to actively wear though. I think I prefer Perversion. for people looking for a tobacco scent with great throw though, this is IT! i was wearing six scents when i tried this on, plus my nose was somewhat stuffed from being sick, and yet i could smell Hearth where ever i went. i'm glad i prefer Perversion though. that way i can get it pretty easily! n.

through thinking i was going to lost an auction on ebay, and an overlapping forumite selling me hers, i actually have two bottles of QoC on their way to me. a little worrisome, as they were both uniffed! i should not have worried. QoC is quite a lovely scent. she starts off all earth and rose, straight from the home of Zombi, and moves into currant and earth, reminding me somewhat of Santa Muerte -- one of my favorites. after awhile the earth drops away and she begins to smell of coconut of all things! i am not a huge fan of coconut, and that stage lasts a short while, and she ends at a lovely combination of amber, vanilla, with a touch of berries and rose, all grounded by a faint background of earth. beautiful! i can't wait to smell the King! n.

i definitely think imps age faster than 5mls. first of all, the glass is clear which means it gets expsed to UV light rays. secondly, the volume of the imp is so small, combined with it's linear form, i believe causes the UV to pass thorugh it faster too. lastly, they are likely to be exposed to air more times than a 5ml. wasn't joseybird conducting some imp-aging experiments? i am thinking of doing something similar -- decanting some of my favorites into 2.5 ml clear bottles for faster aging for sooner wearing. and leaving 'em by the window at work for a couple of hours n.

in the bottle: hazelnuts and caramel. wet: hazelnuts, caramel, butter, toffee drydown: burnt plastic, wafting out over caramel, butter and toffee. this is the first time this has happened to me. and it's been a bad several days for scents for me. ah well. even when it smelt good, it was WAY too sweet for me. if you are really into sweet foody scents, get gluttony! if not, don't! i wasn't sure until now. this was a little too much for me. n.

lovely and delicate in the bottle, this one morphed on my skin. i had a brief niceness with it, but mostly it went through all the shades of "bad". fresh and soapy > a blossoming of what i thought it would smell like (at this phase i thought "hrm...maybe 5 ml?") sweet, yet rich, slightly fruity... > old lady perfume > fruity powder.... and then i went to sleep. this morning, i get urine. *sighs* i'll give it a second try at some point, but i have a bad feeling about this. i wonder if it was the honey. i think this is my first honey scent.... n.

so far, i haven't found a scent that makes my BF pounce on me. he's a pretty good pouncer in general though, so i'm not complaining. one scent has gotten an unsolicited comment and that was Alice: it's the snuggly scent, because he kept snuggling up to me that day and being all tender and kissy and said that i smelt good. but it wasn't a sex thing -- more of a love thing. to be fair, i have yet to try the "sex scents". i have not tried O, Snake Oil, Golden Pripiapus, or many others. sadly, Scherzerade went to powder on me hrm... i sense an imp pack in the making.... n.

obtained from a fellow forumite for a reasonable price. thanks! i've been dying to try this one! in the vial: whoa! this is much more green than i expected. it smells like dark grass to me -- not bright green grass, but thicker and tougher grass, not quite dry, there's some sap, but dry-ish and dark, maybe with the tips browned. and spice. on me: it's like a dryer and pepperier Whipporwill, but without the Irish Spring part! i wouldn't say that this is "masculine", but i wouldn't say that it's "feminine" either. i think this is extremly gender neutral. i would love to wear this to work. it's structured and forceful, without being overwhelming -- not "forceful",... "firm" yes. it's a structured and firm scent, severe, with a secret sense of humor. as it dries further, i get the faintest whiff of dusty rawhide. maybe that's what people meant by "dusty grasses"? warning: the skin where i applied it tingles a bit. not for the sensitive skinned. i'm really glad i got to try this! ETA: this just gets better and better. now it smells like a combination of a sunwarmed saddle and the old straw hat i used to wear riding. i LOVE this. i really hope it gets realeased. this would be great to wear on those days i'm nostalgic for my days of riding -- western! this perfume makes me want to get a skin transplant. in the bottle: wow. each sniff brings something different. first there is chocolate, and then there are flowers, then smoke, then leaves.... i smell incense. i smell a touch of wax, and then it's back to the flowers, and so on and so forth. absolutely stunning. like nothing i've ever really smelled before. i like to sniff it, breathe in and out, and then sniff it again. each sniff brings a different note to the forefront. on me: within a few minutes all i can smell is the scent of a botanica. now, this is not necessarily a bad thing. a botanica, for those of you who don't know, is a latin "occult" shop. it's where one goes to get incense, candles, oils, and other supplies for various kinds of worship. the shops have beads, dried herbs, and statues of the saints. this smells like that on my skin: old herbs that are slightly musty, like a mish mash of incnese long burnt. to be fair, my skin is all broken out this week, and i wonder if i am going through a hormonal thing. my dearest wish is that i am, because if i could get what is on the bottle onto my skin, i'd be a very happy woman indeed. i am also going to explore scenting my hair like astrobabe does at the very beginning of this thread. it's a really unique oil. i am glad i hunted down a bottle, and i look forward to the 2005 i ordered. even if i find i can never wear it, i'll just sit and sniff it, it's that good. n.
